Most definitely an excellent addition to the series so far. We get some great character building, the introduction of a few new characters, and many more fluffy and adorable moments.
In volume 2, the season is shifting from spring to summer. It means the strawberry season is ending, and our gardener cat Berry seems sad about it which is super adorable. I hope she gets gourmet food everyday to make up for the lack of strawberries.
After what happened in the previous volume, Laetitia is now forging a bond with Lady Natalie as well as getting to know the other queen candidates. The focus in this book is the east villa's Lady Kate, a beastfolk from the Wildcat clan who wears her heart on her sleeve. Since her main issue is more of a family problem, the conflict in this volume isn't as nasty as what Lady Natalie's aunt did. The main antagonist is Lady Natalie's younger half-sister Sienna, who's a lot more immature both in personality and schemes, which in turn highlights the fact that Laetitia really was supposed to be a capable villainess. It's really nice to see how far the story has departed from the stereotypical situation at the beginning. I'm curious about how they will handle the remaining two queen candidates though, since their approach to this power struggle seems different from Lady Natalie and Lady Kate.
Also, Laetitia's grand goal in this book is to build a house for her griffin and an entire dog park behind her villa so her staff's companion animals can play there. Absolutely amazing main character, can totally understand why everyone loves her. She finally gets a chance to cook a hot meal for King Glenreed in this volume, which makes him even more interested in her and that obviously leads to more Lord Aroo scenes. While Glenreed is growing feelings for Laetitia, she's beginning to change her "completely neutral and uninvolved" stance and the people around her are starting to wish she would be their queen permanently. The book does a great job reminding you that their time is limited, so I'm looking forward to see where the plot will take us to next.
Seasons change, new bonds are formed, as we get to know more about the Queen candidates. And we get a glimpse of Glenreed's growing feelings for Laetitia, which in my opinion is adorable, as he doesn't seem to be completely aware of it.
In this volume, there is less interaction between the king and queen, so there is less romance as well. Yes, I understand that the two are not in a romantic relationship and she is just a figure head…. I want to see more love, though! ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿ヽ(°□° )ノ︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ I want to drown in a sea of their love because they are perfect for each other. When he reveals himself, I think she will be embarrassed and avoid him, but he will pursue her to be his final queen. Gah! I just think they are so cute together!
Also, I totally understand the talking to animal moments because I do that all the time with my two dogs. While they can’t respond, I can imagine what they are saying. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
SPOILER ALERTS BELOW (I think... maybe?... proceed with caution 😁)
I aboslutely love where this series is going, and how we're slowly learning more and more about the other people in this world. I also love how the FMC is slowly but surely adding people to her camp of "I aboslutely love this woman, maybe she should stay the Queen forever..." because seriously - same. I'm really excited to see how the MMC & FMC's relationship continues to grow - I'm hoping that within the next book or so it's revieled that he's the white wolf, but we'll see! I'm definitely very excited to continue this series though!

This volume wasn’t quite as fun as volume 1, but it was still interesting and I liked seeing more of the other queen candidates.
There’s a bit of cheesiness which I’m realizing is part of the author’s style, and I don’t really mind cheesiness all that much. :) I’m looking forward to the next volume.
The main heroine or hero shouldn't be the only one to grow during a series. Lady Kate being such a sweet and honest girl is already great but to see her fully acknowledge her personal failings and strive to improve was the best thing about this volume for me. Character growth and world building is always wonderful to see in novels.
I love the characters, they’re very charming. I have corks love cooking stories… So this one’s fun to and then, of course, there’s a developing romance, which is always funny. Specially, since they seem to have no idea that they’re in a romance. can’t wait to read the next one.
has everything i enjoy, cute animals, magic, good friends and strong characters and food🙏🏾 i've been in a major isekai slump after the end of 'ascendance of a bookworm' and this brings something cute ans cool average girl mc misogyny aside😭a fun read but gets dark sometimes i do feel like sometimes everything falls into the fmc's lap but that's fine
It continues to be a really fun read seeing how "Laetitia" navigates through politics in her husband's kingdom. I'm still hoping she'll get to be queen for real considering the improving relationships between her and Glenreed.
I was a little let down in this one. Sure this is more cutesy than a story you expect a lot of plot from, but even so it kind of dragged. I honestly found myself scanning parts because it felt repetitive. It was so much of the same from the first book and everything is brushed over so quickly that there spent feel like there's a real threat or much of anything happening. It was just a bunch of people eating really. At least the last book had folks plotting and a little action. This was just a bunch of people sitting down to eat and sometimes someone was rude. I maybe should rate it lower but considering what you know to expect going in I figure 3 stars in this case is about right
Love this so much and as usual is filled with her passion of cooking. And it seemed that there is a little more progressed in her relationship Silver Wolf King. And she got to know a few more candidates that the King will choose as his wife since she is the temporary wife. He did get jealous when she is close to someone else. Haha.. but also he didn't seem to notice that he is falling for her. It is so funny. And also she helped Lady Kate when she needed help especially when it is about cooking which is her specialty. (can't spoil it too much you will need to read to find out) And everyone is enjoying her cooking as usual.
