Fake Dating Mr. Prince is part of the Curvy Ever After series. It can be read as a standalone, is inspired by a beloved fairy tale, and ends with a happily-ever-after.
This was a sweet version of the classic Cinderella story. The pacing was pretty good and I found myself hoping the step mother and ex got what was coming to them! It had enough spicy scenes to keep it interesting while not taking away from the plot.
Inspirational ******************** Tropes: Fake Dating, Office Romance, Billionaire, Plus Size Heroine, Contemporary Cinderella Retelling ******************** Content Warning: Brief discussion of infertility (not the main characters,) death and grief of both parents, verbal & emotional abuse by step-parent, internal insecurities, graphic sexual content and adult language ******************** Quote: "I’m like freakin’ Cinderella at the ball Stella. I keep running away. Sh*t, I even left something behind like she did. ” ******************** Synopsis/Blurb: I’m a CEO who lives like a prince. She cleans my office. We’re worlds apart, and she just brought me to my knees. ~~~~~~~~~~ I make no excuse for my playboy ways. I work hard, and I play hard.
I’ve been burned by what I thought was love. Now one night with a woman is all I can give. I won’t risk my heart again.
Then a mysterious masked woman with curves for days enthralls me. After the hottest night I’ve ever had, I want more. But when I wake up, she’s gone.
No names. No promises. My mind says forget her, but my body won’t listen.
When our paths cross again, my need for her hasn’t diminished. I can’t give her a real relationship, but the guise of one will give us what we both desire most.
A fake relationship will clean up my image and give her the connections she needs to jump start her business—though there’s no faking our scorching nights together.
Just when my feelings become real, my company is threatened, and she might be to blame. Was her coming into my life a devious plan to steal from me, or the innocent run-in she claims?
Either way, my company and my heart are on the line. ******************** Review: The first half was unnecessarily slow and detailed, at times a bit repetitive. Somewhere around the fifty percent marker, the pace and the plot picked up. This Cinderella retelling is told using a dual first person point of view, with chapters switching back and forth from Dean's POV to Ashlyn's. It's a good mix of plot and character driving the narrative.
The spice is woven into the storyline with enough to satisfy those who like their romance with a solid side of naked time, but not enough to take over the plot. The characters are well rounded and multi-dimensional for the most part, and their dialog is natural. The wicked step-mother and one of her daughters are stereotypical mean girls, just like in the original fairytale. However, one of the step-sisters is actually supportive to the FMC for a nice little change.
Lately, I have had issues with the dreaded third act breakup. And while I wasn't happy there was one this time, I at lease understand how necessary it was to this story. Kudos to the author for actually making it messy and more than a bit ugly. A simple misunderstanding followed by a quick reconciliation and HEA would have ruined the account.
The plus-size representation was included, but honestly it felt off. I can't put my finger on why it didn't feel right other than to say, and I'm saying this to all authors, STOP writing fat women as only exaggerated hour glass figures because society has deemed those as "acceptable."
Given all the issues I pointed out, I would still recommend this book. It doesn't take itself too seriously. ******************** Ratings: Movie rating R, overall 3.75/4 stars, romance 3/5, violence 0/5, spice 3/5, and 4/5 for the cover.
This book is the first book in the Curvy Ever After series by Stephanie Harrell. Loosely based on Cinderella its's about Ashlyn, an entrepreneur whose biggest wish is to have her lingerie, designed for curvy ladies, in stores everywhere
and Dean Prince whose father is CEO of Prince Industries, a company known for their exquisite wedding gowns. Ashlyn met Dean at a ball and she didn't know who he was at the time but they had a one night stand with Ashlyn insisting that that it would be for one night only. When Dean woke up the next morning he was alone and found himself disappointed that she hadn't stayed with him, one and done didn't sit too well with him. Dean was very wary of getting into relationships especially after what happened with his previous partner, Simone. She was absolutely awful, the author knows how to write a villain! Ashlyn worked for her (evil) stepmother Elaine, another dreadful individual, sewing wedding gowns. The company was founded by Ashlyn's mum but Elaine took it over and turned it into her own. Eventually Ashlyn and Dean meet again and sparks fly. Dean is hoping to take over the position of CEO from his father and asks Ashlyn to be his fake girlfriend for a month to show the board of directors he has given up his playboy ways and is prepared to settle down. There were some new wedding gown designs that his father hoped that Dean would take the lead with when he took over as CEO.
Unfortunately, Ashlyn's heart didn't get the memo about the 'fake' relationship, she had fallen for Dean in a big way. Lots of high jinks ensued; stolen wedding gown designs, the stepmother more evil than I thought possible, the dreadful ex girlfriend really stirring things up and Dean's father falling ill, to name a few. The angst was quite high for me and I will admit to taking a look further on in the book to reassure myself that I could safely read to the end! I loved Ashlyn and I also loved her stepsister Stella who always supported Ashlyn, she was funny too! A fabulous book with plenty of steam and really well written characters that you either loved or hated. I absolutely recommend this book! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is Ashlyn and Dean's story and you will love it! Ashlyn works for her step-mother who makes both work and home life miserable for Ashlyn. Ashlyn would like to one day have her own curvy-girl line of lingerie. Just like Cinderella, she meets a gorgeous sexy Prince Charming at a Charity Ball and their response to each other led to a passionate one-night stand.
Dean Prince is focused on attaining a promotion to start his leadership at Prince Industries. But his bad-boy ways would keep the Board from respecting him and they would never back his decisions. So when Ashlyn ends up as his new employee and the board at Prince Industries threatens his promotion to CEO, he needs to accept a fake relationship with him to solve both their problems. The only problem is that real feelings begin happening and Dean can’t allow himself to feel them. Simone had ripped out his heart and he would never risk it again.
But once Ashlyn and Dean began publicly showing their fake relationship, Simone showed up again, telling Dean she knew it was only to make her jealous. And Dean was amazed that the feelings of hurt and anger he always felt with Simone were not there anymore! In fact, he realized he didn’t feel anything at all toward her.
Simone did not take rejection well and her revenge hit him where it hurt most. And it hurt most because Dean thought Ashlyn had betrayed her and told her to get out of his life. Would they ever get this mess figured out? Would Dean ever tell her that, despite his fears of heartache, he loved her? Or is it too late to try to fix things now when everything starts crashing down around him?
This story takes a modern and entertaining twist on the classic Cinderella fairytale. Instead of a forgotten shoe, a more risque garment is left behind after a night of adventure. The prince must prove he is worthy to lead his father's company by changing his playboy ways and finding a proper girlfriend. Too bad he can't find the alluring woman from the ball. The evil stepmother and sister are present, but there is also a kind sister and a Cinderella who helps herself with some help from good friends. If she can make her lingerie business a success, she might find the life she always wanted.
I loved the creative lingerie idea behind Ashlyn's business; it made for something new and exciting in an otherwise very familiar tale. However, despite having some fun ideas and more plot points than the standard Cinderella retelling, the story is very predictable.
The chemistry between the main characters is well-written and enjoyable. Ashlyn's uncertainty regarding her body shape shines through in her inner monologues, even though she is confident and strong and believes in herself. Dean also has some inner issues to resolve before he is ready to be the best version of himself in a relationship.
"Curvy and confident, yet insecure woman gets the super attractive guy" is a theme that has become very popular lately, but some readers might have had their fill of it. It is a delicate balance between too much focus on it, making readers think "this again?", and too little, where the point of it is lost. It is also hard to stand out with so many books about the same subject, especially when the majority includes the same central plot points. Even though I enjoyed this book and might give the rest of the series a try, it didn't stand out in the pile of books that are curvy contemporary romances.

Dean Prince lives the life of luxury and although he works hard, he plays hard and is known for his playboy ways due to a baaaaad breakup years earlier. When Dean notices Ashlyn at a charity ball and she doesn't immediately recognize him, he feels like he's hit the jackpot...plus there's instant chemistry. They have their one night and Ashlyn slips away before they can exchange names.
What seems like fate brings them together again and when Dean is trying to clean up his image, he works with Ashlyn to fake date. And for her, he will invest in her company and mentor her on business. Everything seems to be going well until it's not...including the evil stepmother and the crazy ex-girlfriend. Can Dean and Ashlyn make it or will everything blow up in their faces?
I loved this take on Cinderella. Dean and Ashlyn were both loveable and seeing their journey was great. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my review.
This book has a great cover that makes you want to start reading to see who Mr. Prince is!! Mr. Prince turns out to be Dean Prince who works at Prince Industries in Rhode Island. The heroine is a seamstress/wannabe curvy lingerie business owner Ashlyn Thomas. They meet at a masquerade ball and without sharing names, have a one-night stand. Turns out that Ashlyn's life mirrors that of Cinderella. Her parents are both deceased, she has one likable step-sister, and a horrible step-mother and a horrible step sister. Dean on the other hand is gorgeous, wealthy, and has a job in the family company. There are many things I liked about this book: the characters, it's version of Cinderella, the twists and turns, and the triumph of good over evil! The one thing I did not care for was the many steamy, detailed bedroom scenes. Overall though, I liked this book and recommend it to those who enjoy a good romance.
I’m really torn about this book. I really liked it but there are elements about the FMC that drive me nuts at key plot points. I think parts of the plot are obvious.
For the most part, I think the characters are well thought out, emotionally authentic in their behaviors. Except the parts that drive me crazy. Basically, when there is a reasonable solution to the “problem” and all that’s done is a lot of hand wringing and woe is me, it didn’t align with who I think the FMC was developed to be.
I can understand the “psychological” reasons behind some of the decisions that the FMC made but they weren’t very consistent with the actions. That being said, I did enjoy reading it more than it irritated me. I would give this series another shot.

How about this? And please, tell me if something would not be helpful.
Fake Dating Mr. Prince is Book 1 in Stephanie Harrell's Curvy Ever After series. I really enjoyed this fake dating, modern take on Cinderella. But better than Cinderella because one of the stepsisters is "Ash's" best friend.
This book was many firsts for me. My first experience with this author and my first time reading one of these fairytale retells. I was impressive with the way the author developed the characters. I don't generally like the vast difference between rags and riches.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one. I would absolutely recommend this book for 18+ because it is hot enough to burn the house down! Readers should be aware of references to past occurrences of pregnancy and infant loss as well as domestic violence.
Follow your passion, don't let anyone limit your dreams...
Ashlyn and Dean's story drew me in from the first few chapters. Ashlyn carried a very heavy emotional load of loss on her shoulders. She works for her Stepmother who is a shrew at work and at home. Ashlyn has dreams of having her own line of lingerie. She meets gorgeous, super sexy hot, Dean Prince at a Charity Ball. Their attraction was immediate and it led to a one-night stand.
Dean was not the man who would ever be in a relationship. He was burned once and did not want to revisit that experience again. I found myself rooting for this couple as family and past history interfered with the genuine feelings they had for each other. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Book Review: Fake Dating Mr. Prince (Curvy Ever After, #1) Author: Stephanie Harrell My Rating: 5 Stars
REVIEW This is a very well-written story. It's like a unique twist on a fairy tale and no I won't tell you which one you should read the story. Dean has one goal and that is to one day take over his fathers' company. He is cleaning up his bad-boy image or is he? Ashlyn's life is far from easy. Her mother died, her father died and she is left with a stepmom from hades! She has dreams of her own and will do what is needed to make it happen. One night at a Gala will either make or break her in more ways than one.
This book started out slow. I think I got a bad first impression of Ashlyn when she was at the ball (primarily because I think it's rude to go to a charity function specifically with the purpose of trying to push your business and get investors) so I just wasn't into it. But slowly the book started to grow on me and by the end, I liked it. I didn't love it, there were too many moments where I wanted to strangle characters to really love it, but it was a good book. The characters were solid and so was the storyline. The last quarter of the book about was probably the best part. I love when the idiot guy comes to a realization.

I absolutely loved Ashlyn in this story because I watched her grow and let herself blossom. I thought her chemistry with Dean was great and they really had a wonderful relationship. Though labeled as fake it never felt that way to me. I loved that Dean was so confident in Ashlyn’s ability and business, I think it gave her some of her own confidence. There were some predictable things that happened but it didn’t take away from the book too much. The thing I wasn’t a fan of was how quickly the drama happened and Simone seemed to be such a big pain but at the same time I felt like we didn’t know enough at times.

I completely devoured this book. Between the very subtle nod to Cinderella and the fake dating trope I was completely hooked. Both Ashlyn and Dean are so likable on their own but their spice and heat together really sold this. There was so much growth and movement through the story that I could not put it down and the climax felt hard for me to read in the best possible way. It was easy to understand the characters positions while rooting for them.
I do not usually enjoy reading books about curvy women because it often focusing way too much on their weight but Ashlyn was so pleasant to read and especially to see someone truly appreciate their body.
The writing is also addicting and I will easily be picking up far more by this author
This is the first book in this Curvy Ever After series. This is the love story of Ashlyn and Dean and you will fall in love. There first encounter was amazing and only suppose to be one night. Dean couldn't get his mystery woman out of his head. He meets Ashlyn and starts to think they are one in the same. Their story is a modern day cinderella. The characters are engaging and fit well together. I am looking forward to read the second book in this series. This is a new author for me and I am looking forward to read more.
In this delightful retelling of Cinderella, Ashlyn is a fledgling designer, trying desperately to start a lingerie business so she can get away from her heartless stepmother. Dean is the rich businessman determined to do what needs to be done to take over his father's company. They meet at a ball, and sparks fly. But they only agreed to one night. The author nails the chemistry between the two, and the story is fun, and sometimes heartbreaking. All in all, a very enjoyable read!
This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Ash and Dean’s characters are so well written. The story draws you in so much, I didn’t want it to end. I really felt for Ash all the way through the book, Heartbreak with her family issues and her feelings for Dean. And Dean being able to get his act together and win the woman of his dreams. This is a must read and a great first book in the series.
loved it !!! a great start for a new series !!! love Ashlyn and Dean... this is their story... a ball.. a one night stand... a what ? fake... it would solve both their problems...or create more...when Dean's ex gets in the mix... bigger problems... will the truth come out ? a fast paced drama full of twists and family drama...

I enjoyed y by e characters and their development, and loved how confident the heroine was in her skin.
The characters' support and love through their insecurities and challenges made this a wholesome and sweet ( but don't worry, there's plenty spice) love story.

I wanted to read FAKE DATING MR. PRINCE because of the Cinderella-type story and fashion design theme. The fake dating to clean up Dean’s image so he could take over the company was fairly typical. The stepmother added the right amount of tension to the story. The romance was really good from the very beginning.
The feel of the story was a little on the young side although Ash was in her late 20’s. At times they both seemed much younger. Good ending!
I really enjoyed this book! The re-telling of Cinderella, with a modern day twist. It felt like a story of 2 halves. The first is all sex and not coming up for air, the second is deeper and more focused on the relationship. A great concept! I would have liked to have known what happened to Elaine, did she lose her shops?? A bit cheesy but there again, life can be cheesy! A great read!
I'm a sucker for a fairy tale retelling with a spin. This was just different enough to be a fresh take on Cinderella and I absolutely adored it.
I couldn't stop once I started. Semi-predictable, but it moved at such a good pace. I enjoyed how the ending worked out and how it wasn't just an immediate wrap up.
I believe this is my first book by this author but I will most certainly be checking out more!
This was a Cinderella theme story about Ashlyn and Dean. I love the storyline and couldn’t put the book down. There’s enough of the evil stepmother and stepsister throughout the book, causing problems and it keeps the storyline interesting and makes you want to know what’s gonna happen next. This is book one in the curvy ever after series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had hopes for this book. The storyline seemed enchanting and captured my attention, however, the FMC & MMC didn’t end up dating until around the 50% mark and the dating only lasted until about the 70% mark. The rest of the book was unnecessary, boring fluff. The characters felt shallow and would make off the wall, forced conversation. I was ready to DNF at 30% but pushed through and skimmed the last 10% of the book. Poorly executed.
Wow! Was given this book as a ARC to read & let me just say, if you like fairy tails you will love this book. It a modern twist on Cinderella. Ashlyn is a curvy women with a heart of gold who just wants to be loved. She goes to a ball & ends up having a one night stand with Dean Prince, but she doesn't know his name!
5⭐ for a great story! I loved it! I've read it in one night, just couldn't stop turning the pages. It has it all - humour, fairy tale, drama and sexy hot scenes..mmm. A perfect blend. I definitely recommend it for every contemporary romance readers. Can't wait for the next book in the series (there should definitely be one..or two..or..😉)
