The Authenticity of the Bible: Assurance that the Bible is the Word of God [Annotated, Updated]

Rate this book
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. – 2 Timothy 3:16

Is the Bible the Word of God? That is the most important question for humanity. If the Bible is the Word of God, if it is an absolutely trustworthy revelation from God Himself, of Himself, His purposes, and His will, of man’s duty and destiny, and of spiritual and eternal realities, then we have a starting point from which we can proceed to the conquest of the whole domain of religious truth.

This book will show you the absolute trustworthiness of the Bible. Follow the Word of God, and it will lead you as it has led thousands of others. It will lead you out of the uncertainty and the restlessness and the ultimate despair of unbelief and into the certitude, the joy, the victory, and the ultimate glory of an intelligent faith in the Bible as the Word of God, and in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Very grateful to this company for republishing these classics for a new generation and with new technology.
Back in the late 1970s I discovered Josh McDowell's book "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" which was a great help and resource to me in my college days and beyond. Little did I realize that much of those books [it had updates & sequels] were largely based on Torrey's work. McDowell gave Torrey credit and further substantiated what Torrey said [giving the means to prove sources] and organized it in a very helpful way but the heart was Torrey. Praise God for both these godly men and their contributions to apologetics.
Scriptural, readable, understandable and completely logical.

Good insights, but not quite what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be more historical proofs, but it’s more about what the Bible actually says contrasted with reality. I agree with all of it, but I’m not sure it’s convincing enough for modern people. Agnostics and atheists, let me know what you think!

A very good read and listen
This book is more practical and philosophical in approach and presentation than relying on Scientific data, Linguistics or Theology
although they are spoken of in the book
Torrey uses reasoning, real life examples, allegorical statements and questions to the reader to make up their own mind and heart to the subject matter of the truth of the Bible and Jesus Christ his son.
I also listened to the well done audio book
I found on YouTube by Aneko Press that parallels the book perfectly

Excellent Arguments for the Bible

This book is a quick read, but is jam-packed with great arguments for the authenticity of the Bible. I especially enjoyed reading the arguments he gave for the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection. This book is an excellent resource for anyone who is interested in learning about the reasons and evidence for why we can trust in the truthfulness and authenticity of the Bible.

As a christian reading this book, I assumed I would know all the reasons on why I can believe that the Bible try is God's Word but in reality I learned more than exepcted. Its a short, well thought out and organized book. Defiantly will be rereading and looking for other books written by Reuben A. Torrey. I definitely recommend this book for anyone that is new to understanding the Bible.

This book was beautifully done, and can be found completely free. Both on youtube audio books on the Aneko Press channel (where they have put many audiobooks online for free), and through a description there to a free ebook copy. It covers why the scriptures can be trusted, why people doubt, why the Scripture has authority, beautiful text I will definitely be referencing in the future.

Some really great quotes, nice introduction toward defending the Bible as the Word of God, but definitely not extensive and not every argument will be applicable in today's culture. Felt like the conclusion was a bit off subject but still would recommend this book for anyone interested in apologetics.

Basically this is apologetic on the authenticity of the Bible and some of the contents in the Bible. its not means for theological used with many arguments, but more on how to explain simple yet strong arguments for ordinary people.
