Cheerful, even. She likes to sing to the cat. Kill me now.
A year ago, an explosion – the same explosion that killed my best friend – destroyed me. Ruined me. Made me look like a monster. I’m a shadow of the man I once was.
I want to be left alone.
Instead… there’s Bella.
Bella, who sings when she’s happy. Who likes to talk. Who is kind to me… even when I don’t deserve it.
She drives me crazy. And yet… I can’t stop thinking of her. Of touching her. Of making her mine.
But when an enemy reemerges from Bella’s past, I can no longer stay hidden. And when they threaten her?
Lili Zander is the sci-fi romance loving alter-ego of Tara Crescent. She lives in Toronto. She enjoys reading sci-fi and fantasy, and thinks a great romance makes every book better.
There’s an ancient human proverb, one from the now-destroyed planet of Earth. There is no such thing as a free lunch.
What happens when Bella is blackmailed into fixing Adon the Third Shield of Gehar? So many things. So many delicious things between these two. This was sweet and full of steamy times in and out of water. Bella was perfect. Her size and tears (she cried when angry) made her an easy target but this girl is spicy!! She did not back down when she knew she was right and baby girl is a genius. She’s not wrong many times.
My one and only small complaint is that Adon was not really a Beast. He was mourning and in constant pain. I’d be angry too!! This was still a very fun read. But I’m biased. I like blue aliens. Lol.
This is such a good read! Right from the beginning, the story pulls you in. It's emotional and exciting, but also full of characters that you just want to like. It's a part of a series, but it's been a while since the one before this was released, so it still reads fresh. Even if you just read this one, you'll get what's going on, but you should totally read the whole series, lol, each one has characters that are realistically portrayed. I really loved Adon and Bella, they are not what everyone thinks they are!
It's been a while since I read alien romance, but I wanted to read this story so much. I love Adon and Bella, and the instant attraction between them, and their passion is off the charts. Can't wait to read the next book in the series, and now I want to go back and read the first few books in the series as well.
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This wasn't at all what I was expecting, but it wasn't bad. I will say that while it can be read as a stand alone (which is what I did), this time, I think it would have been a lot better to have read the first one before it. While it's easy enough to figure out the gist what happened in that one that landed Bella where she is at, I think it would have been a lot better with the context of the first book. Will I read it? No. But I'm just saying.
After the events of the first book, Bella and her crew have found sanctuary on a planet where those who would see them dead cannot touch them. And to stay there, Bella is being blackmailed into helping one of the most important people there recover from an injury sustained almost a year ago. Not quite her area of expertise, but she'll do what she has to do.
I say injury, but what happened to Adon is far more traumatic. While on a mission he took his best friend's brother as his backup and things went very, very badly. Almost every bone in Adon's body was broken and he couldn't even do anything to save the life of such a promising young male. They may have mostly repaired his body, but he refuses to let anyone help with the crippling guilt he feels or the leg that causes him such excruciating pain. Until Bella shows up.
Their first meeting went really badly with Adon seriously freaking out over Bella scaring a plant he had been working 5 years with to get to bloom. But Adon is a good guy at heart and he feels really bad about how he snapped at her. When he finds out that she isn't even there by choice, he feels even worse for her situation.
But the thing is, these two are incredibly drawn to each other so it's not long at all until they're sleeping together. What I appreciated here was that it was acknowledged that it was just sex in the beginning. It wasn't a love at first sight thing, with was great. Still, it didn't take too many days for them to both be falling for the other. And to be oblivious about how the other felt.
Bella's blissful days have a huge countdown though. Her and some of the rest of the crew are to testify against the people who put a bounty on their heads. And they must do it in person. An obvious trap, but what can they do. Bella doesn't want Adon to feel like he is obligated to protect her, so she keeps it a secret. And when he finds out, he is livid. At least he manages to catch up to her in time. The ending was so fast and neatly wrapped up that even the characters were saying it ended "just like that"....which was pretty boring.
All in all, I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole book here. I liked the characters and thought they worked as a couple. I thought the world here was pretty neat too. But nothing here really makes me want to read any more of this series either.
The only complain I have is that it all happened too fast. I wanted more relationship build-up. But I did like Adon and Bella, they complemented each other very well.
Very different to many other sci-fi romance book's I have read, but definitely book's written by Lili Zander are in a calibre all their own. An enjoyable fun and fascinating storyline, with enough intrigue to keep you guessing but with plenty of fun cheekiness and emotional ups and downs to keep you glued to the pages. Bella (the central character) finds herself in a very unusual position after problems from a prior engagement causes a few major problems for her Bella spends all her time worrying about mercenaries, as she and her crew find they have bounties on their heads. Adorable finds he has to allow Bella to help him with getting his bad knee back into shape and definitely was not happy about it, but ends up being far more concerned with the effect this stubborn, attractive honest women is having on him in an all rounded position, would she be able to achieve what no one else has been able to do. Adorable finds himself totally infatuated with this tenacious fiesty human as she gives him so many different reasons to take a look at his life and attitude from a very different view point. Bella becomes very comfortable around Adona and his family realising they have given her a security she didn't realise was missing. After learning she has to give evidence at a court hearing related to problems that caused her to flee her past employment, Bella realised Adona has become far more than just a fun partner to spend time with!! But will she tell him how she feels before dealing with this rather dangerous court case. I honestly recommend you grab a copy of this tale and find out what all the fuss is about when others refer to "The Beast" and who is he in regards Bella. An easy read with plenty to keep you wanting to turn the pages.
Another great read in the Warriors of Gehar series. I loved this book, the characters and the plot. Bella is coerced into providing therapy for the Beast. Hurt in an explosion Adon has cut himself off from everyone and will not let anyone near. Both these characters have so many layers, the story gently weaves around, showing depth and beauty to the plot. Bella is fierce, though slight in stature, she surpasses everyone's expectations. Her fiery spirit is what catches Adon's attention. The devotion of a cat shows Bella that first impressions can be so wrong. Great characters, engaging plot and story detail kept me engrossed. I loved this book and highly recommend it and the series.
I loved this book,I have enjoyed this series so much. Adon and Bella's beginning was full of anger and a magical flower, but his compassion for her started immediately. She was afraid to reach out for what she wanted most and Adon survivor’s guilt with so much grief and self hatred. I loved that Bella tied him up in knot's from the very beginning forcing him to face life again. Filled with longing, angst, lots of chemistry and and fear. The story keeps you enthralled to the very end. I especially loved the ending scene with glass treehouse.
I always know that when I pick up a book by Lili Zander / Tara Crescent that I am going to be thoroughly entertained. With plenty of laugh out loud moments, sexy scenes, strong but realistically flawed characters, amazing world building and a unique storyline, this book captured my imagination from the first page to the end. I should know better than to start a book in the evening, because I always stay up too late to read it in one sitting!

The Third Shield of Gehar is a total wreck. His last mission was a disaster, his partner was killed, he was maimed, and he blames himself for the whole fiasco. He's refusing to rehab his knee, refusing to go back to work, refusing to have anything to do with anybody, and verbally abusing everybody. He's snarly, surly, sarcastic and he's letting his people, his planet, and his family down - big time. When his frenemy and Gehar Chief of Staff Hakim Abri decides to blackmail a human Space Fleet xenobiologist and physiotherapist (in space, you gotta wear more than one hat) into fixing A FUBAR Adon D'Arana, Bella has no choice but to agree. Trying to find a chink in the Third Shield's dented armor is slow going, but a cat, alien cooking, a loving family, and a sexual attraction that won't quit eventually crack the curmudgeon - in the nick of time to save Bella, the Space Fleet crew, Earth federation and the day. This was funny, snarky, a little angsty, and hot as habanero chilis. I so hope there's a Fourth Shield of Gehar, 'cause I'm dying for more like this. So there it is: my enthusiastic but independent and totally voluntary ARC review.
Alien Beast is the second book in the Warriors of Gehar series. It can be read as a stand alone and has a Beauty and the Beast feel. Bella has been blackmailed to be a physical therapist to Adon, but not only did they start off on the wrong foot, but he is not interested in her help. As they start to reluctantly spend more and more time together, they can’t deny there’s a pull between them. But when Bella has to face danger, will she trust the bond between them and ask for help?
Oh man, I really loved this book! I have been enjoying this series so far and I was definitely looking forward to Adon’s romance, and I was not disappointed! Adon and Bella had an fiery beginning, full of anger and tears and magical flowers, but I loved Bella’s strength and her ability to stand up for what’s right and needed. I liked that she could easily fight for others, but she was too afraid to reach out for what she wanted most. Adon had so much grief and self hatred and survivor’s guilt stewing inside of him, so I loved that Bella helped shake him up and face life again. There are some really great things that happen within these pages, angst and chemistry and longing and fear, and I loved feeling like I was right there with the characters as they faced the ups and downs of their lives and their relationship. I liked this book! I loved the characters, and I am already excited for what might come next with this series!
The opening to this story was a funny and heartbreaker introduction as to why Adon is in this situation. Fast forward a year on from the incident which has left Adon refusing any support and living like a recluse. Bella has been sent to assist him with his recovery but it does not go well at all the introduction. As they spend time together the chemistry between them grows. It is a very sweet storyline but a fun and entertaining read too, throw Luna into the mix and can promise you will love reading this book 😍😍😍
Bella Ortiz and the other members of the Earth Federation ship Prestige are refugees of the Geharrin Empire, and she knew at some point she would be asked for something in return. Adon D'arana isn't happy when he finds the tiny, human in the garden, but he is very unhappy to discover she as been sent to be the newest of the physiotherapists hired to help in his recovery from the mission that nearly killed him. Absolutely wonderful characters, they are all well written and fascinating. I loved Bella and Adon. Neither of them are particularly pleased with being compelled to work together, but they soon discover they have a deeper connection. Exciting action, conspiracy, attempted assassination, sizzling interactions, and some unexpected twists in the plot. This is a fantastic romance, I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Initially I had a hard time getting “into” this story. I almost put it down. But, I stuck with it. I’m glad I did. The story developed and it was like warm molasses spreading over your consciousness. There was action but it was quickly taken care of. There was “romance” galore. The characters were interesting but incredibly stupid towards the end. But then, they saw the light! There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.
Introduced to Adon in the previous book, I was looking forward to reading his story and I wasn’t disappointed. Bella was a perfect match for this wounded warrior and when she was in danger, he was there to protect her. A very engaging story. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

This was a wonderful beauty and the beast story! Adon a Gehar warrior was badly hurt with fixable and invisible scars left behind as a horrible reminder of how a his mission went wrong. He's become an angry beast of a recluse and his superior officer wants him back. Bella is a human woman who was offered asylum in The Gehar Empire. She has physical therapy skills as well as many others. She is tasked with going into the beasts den and helping him recover from his wounds. It's a wonderful read with great chemistry between Adon and Bella🔥💖 fabulous banter and just a pleasure to read from the first word to the last. Totally recommend🔥💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖
I have enjoyed these stories about Gehar Warriors and am waiting on the next one, which I hope won’t be the last. This book has a physically scarred warrior who is having a hard time coming to terms with the loss of a fellow warrior during a mission he led. The female lead is “assigned “ to help with his physical therapy. Great characters and storyline. Hopefully the mysterious Hakan D’Abari and maybe the Empress will get their own stories for this series.
As an officer and scientist with the human military Bella is smart, strong, and independent. When she is blackmailed into working with Adon she knows she might not be the best person for the job, but she absolutely won’t back down. Finding herself needing help is it pride or insecurity that stops her from asking Adon for help. This fun romance meets scary sci-fi suspense is a great afternoon read.

Sort of along the lines of beauty and the beast, and I loved it. We find out what happened to Adon, why he is scarred and why he is so beastly. Bella who is a member of Keomi's crew is sent to try to help him. And of course Luna is there. They get off to a rocky start because he doesn't want to help himself and just wants everyone to leave him alone. This is a sweet story but it also has danger when the crew is told they have to go back to Federation space, leaving them open to mercenaries attacks.
There was little that was beastly about this beast of an alien. I liked the concept a lot and it was a fun quick read, but it falls short on the beauty and the beast retelling. The beast is quick to reform and though I like sex early and often in a romance there was little reason for them to be getting into it as early as they did. Pleasant read that put a nice touch on my evening, but not stellar!
I loved this story because Adiron and Bella were both experiencing PTSD and handling it in different ways while falling in love. Bella showed that gruff, tormented male that life was worth living again and he was doing a disservice to the young male who made the ultimate sacrifice. That just made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Loved the characters. Did not care if it was not a surprise to me. Would have liked to have the extra earth testifying left out. Was not needed. Just there relationship challenges and possible his going back to work was enough. Did like the spy master twist.
Adon is the Third Shield of Gehar and a year ago an explosion badly injured him and killed the other person on the mission - his best friend's little brother. Refusing advanced treatment Adon just hides away and alienates everyone who is sent to care for him. Then human Bella is blackmailed to go and care for him and she smiles and is happy around him. Something which drives him mad but he is unable to stop himself thinking and dreaming about touching her. When danger emerges from Bella's past he can no longer hide - they will find out why he is called the Beast.
This was a nice story although I feel that Adon was actually mourning the loss of his colleague and feeling depressed which was making him angry which was then exacerbated by his constant pain. Bella was an optimistic person who was determined to do the right thing whether that was so that her ex-colleagues/friends could stay on Gehar as well as protect the Earth colonies from corruption. I loved the way that they came together and that they were actually a great match. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
I really enjoyed Bella and Adon’s story. There is definitely a beauty and the beast vibe to this story. I love and grumpy wounded hero and the strong women that love them. Axon is the Third Shield of Gehar. Ten months ago he was injured and his teammate killed since the. He’s become a recluse and embraces his pain in penance. Bella was a Earth Federation space fleet employee who got caught in political danger. Now she is a refugee in the Gehar Empire. She is threatened with deportation unless she helps Adon heal. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy encounters, dangerous situations, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, political intrigue, plot twists, and laughs. Despite being a shorter book, the story was well written and included witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an interesting storyline. I am excited to read more in the series.
This is a great second book in this series and can't wait for the next book. Bella's predicament pulls you in from the start. She has mercenaries out to kill her. She is basically forced to take the job to help Adon in his rehabilitation. No one has ever lasted a day previously but Bella reaches him. The attraction between them is so strong that they can't resist. What happens next, besides their love story, is also Bella's strength in handling her issue as she goes back to Federation Earth to testify against the company that hired the mercenaries. Once Adon finds out where she went and knowingly put herself in danger, he had to go after her to ensure her safety. There is lots of steamy romance and action and you will not be able to put this book down.
This brooding alien has met the key to life in the PT who is forced upon him. I enjoyed the way the guilt and suffering these two characters feel have shaped them into the amazing people they are. They were perfect for each other and only really found themselves when they embraced that connection. This was a fantastic second book and the characters were amazing. I love how the author showed the lumps and bumps in recovery and the clarity of finding the perfect someone. The author drew me in from the beginning and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Bella is part ofKoemi team now they are on the same planet at Keomi ‘s wedding. Bella is approached by chief of staff Hakan Abiri to do a job for him that she is blackmailed into do. She to help Adon recover for his accident. But he doesn’t want to recover because it cost his best friend his younger brother. And Adon blames himself for the young man’s death. So the start of their rocky relationship so becomes more. So enjoy another good read !! Can hardly Waite for next book!
Book 2 or actually book 3 was awesome. However the prequel book. Has that hysterical screen with DEMIK’s jingle balls and crazy kitten.. I was hoping in each book there would be a hysterical scene with each crazy kitten. Oh well still good series can’t wait for book 3 (or technically book 4)
This was a great, happy story about a hurt warrior and a member of the spaceship crew that has sought refuge on Gehar. It was a joy to see Bella bring Adon out of his shell, and to watch their love develop. Add a little danger, and then a great HEA, and you have a wonderful diversion from reality! Looking forward to the next book!
