Tenía pendiente ponerme al día con comentarios. Al igual que varios comentan, siento que Quiroga sin duda alguna es quien tira de esta compilación hacia adelante, sus cuentos son los únicos que realmente parecen clasificar dentro de lo que yo llamaría terror y fueron, para mi, los más interesantes, los que lograron darle al libro su calificación de tres estrellas. A futuro, creo que buscaré directamente un libro suyo para leer más de su obra.

Quiroga seemed to be pulling the whole weight of this book with his short stories, which were, in my opinion, not just the only good ones but also the only ones which fell into the horror category this book's title promised.

Lugones' stories revolved mostly on a single idea: a scientific experiment supported with a lot of science gibberish with fatal results. I'm sure there must be other topics in the author's work, which is what made the editor's choice quite baffling, because no one wants to read the same story with tiny variations in the same anthology. Put together it all felt predictable and boring.
Nervo's work can barely touch science fiction territory (of the meh-kind, to be honest), and was absolutely not horror.
The only thing keeping me from the one star rating is Quiroga's master of the craft. His stories were precise and terrifying, and totally worth reading.
