Macey Elders drops in on her friend only to find herself sucked up in the world of the mysterious Viburna and the strange men and women marked by it. Blood and bad choices rain down in equal measure on our heroine as the things take a violent turn. Unhinged jaws and a second tongue are the least of Macey’s worries deep in the twisting lines of the Viburna. Away from the city skyline and deep in the backwaters of Weird Florida, comes a new series that probes the dark and bloody recesses the human mind, and asks whether it takes fangs to be a monster.
This second story in the Viburna series is lots of things all-in-one. It is exciting and tense, because the main character, Macey Elders, is dealing with an old friend who is changing way too fast. It is also downright hilarious, and the main reason for that is the way our 'ever sarcastic' Macey is communicating with one of my favorite supporting characters ever: Philip, AKA Flappy Face. I loved it !
Dark fantasy with heart. A vivid, captivating read in this series with a protagonist whose struggles make her feel real. I am eager to see how the story will unravel and highly recommend this engaging author.
