My smart mouth and natural defiance won’t allow me to be the obedient captive. Even for a man with startling blue eyes and a twitchy trigger finger. He may be good with his aim. But I grew up in the game. And yet, I’m questioning if he’s truly my captor? Or my savior?
Mack
I should have pulled the trigger. The rules were simple. You play, you pay. Danica’s father played me, and through no fault of her own, she had to pay. As unfair as it seems, that’s how it had to be. Looking into my eyes, I know she saw her death. Looking into hers, I saw my own weakness. And that could cost me everything.
I'm just a hopeless romantic dreamer who shares her dreams in the form of genre-crossing stories with Heros who might also be the villain and heroines with backbones.
What if your dad was willing to forfeit your life for theirs? That is the situation Danica finds herself in when she is kidnapped and forced to pay a debt for a man she hasn’t seen since she was a child. There are so many twists and turns in the story, saying more would give too much away.
This book had me on a roller coaster ride and I could not put it down. Danica goes on a journey of self-discovery and realizes that no one is who they seem. This book is a combination of mystery with action and adventure that had me up all night. By the end of the book, I wanted more of Danica and her next steps. Could she live a cookie-cutter life, or would she always want more? While there were minor editing issues it did not distract from the story or the characters. I highly recommend and hope Danica gets another story.
Overall, I enjoyed this book though I did feel the hot lust between these characters, I didn't feel the love between them, at all. Recommended: Read It!
Great read. There were a lot of twists and turns that always had the readers on the edge of their seat. I really enjoyed reading the complicated relationship between Danica and Easton/Trace. I almost wish there is a 2nd part where the readers can still catch up with how their lives are doing.
reading the title and the blurb did not do it justice. I thought it would totally be a cliché-type of book... with the naïve doe-eyed unsuspecting virgin heroine, caught by the big bad wolf mobster and forced to cater to his every whim yady yada...
but oh no... this is a completely different ballpark.
picking this up was the.best.decision.ever!
is has just the right amount of mystery / thriller / romance and... *ahem* horizontal tango that it completely ticked all my boxes!
Danica has strength, snark, courage, is self-sufficient and resourceful all on her own, without needing a big hunky man at her side. Just my kind of girl.
Her interactions with others are often humorous and she's quick to think on her feet. The dialogues come as natural - especially when it concerns her parents. She's not one to let bygones be bygones and just forgive all the crap she's been put through just out of the goodness of her heart. Danica.is.real.
If you can't tell, I absolutely adore her 🤍
And Mack (or actually Easton, as he's most commonly referred to in the book)... boy oh boy... he's just the right kind of guy to stand by Danica's side, and that's all I'm gonna say. If you want to know more, go pick up the book! *wink wink*
There are too many just... right things in this book, I can't list them all. But first chance I get, you can sure bet that I'll read me some more Eden Fortae
I enjoyed the book especially the fact that it was different from the majority of bwwm romance novels. Although the heroine, was irritating for a while, she gets a pass because of her age but also the situation she was in. I truly appreciated how she rose to the occasion, grew up and stood up for herself. I liked that the author didn’t go the easy route once the romance became apparent. As for the Easton, he was amazing. A true boss, putting her above all else. My only reservations are how quickly everything was resolved at the end. An epilogue would have been useful to wrap up the story. The other reservation is although we knew Danica had brown skin, the author didn’t actually make use of it. Basically she could have had blond hair and porcelain skin and the book would have been the same.
I received this book as an ARC and this is the first book that I have read by Eden Fortae. I plan to read her other books. There were minor grammar issues but it does not take away from the plot of the story. The female lead, Danica has crazy and comical thoughts and reading about the male lead, Mack Easton was also good. I am a stickler for history and geography (being a federal retiree) that the only issue I have is that the mention that Mack Easton mom is from Puerto Rico which is a U.S. territory which means she was a U.S. citizen and should not require "clearance" to come to the mainland USA. Not to give away too much about the story but Ms. Eden Fortae had me in all my emotions throughout the story especially towards the ending! Overall, this was a good read and recommended!
You definitely have to give this very entertaining read a try. In this book we have Danica and Easton, who meet under unconventional circumstances. When these two meet its an explosion of fun in a unique cast and mouse game. They have more in common than they realize which makes it more interesting. This book is filled with a rollercoaster of highs and lows from emotions to the events that take place. I just loved Danica's feisty and sarcastic wit, it definitely made Easton and Aladdin's lives more entertaining. This book will have you flipping through the pages just see what Danica will do next and see what Easton will do in reaction. Definitely give this book a try!
Sooo I was looking for a new book to read and came across this author. I am so glad I took a chance and read this book. This author did not disappoint. This book had love, murder, sex, and mystery. All the things I like in a book! Dani was dealt a bad hand in life she had two dirt bags for parents. Her mom was just as twisted as the father! Who does that to a kid and then think they are saving them then turn around and do them dirty anyway. This book had my attention from the beginning. I am going to go through this author catalog and pick another book. I just hope her books do not have similar stories. I think I have new author in my top 5!
What a page turner and just when you think you're done with the twist and turns, you're not! I love how descriptive Eden's is with her characters. Giving them a name with a face is what makes the read enjoyable.
Danica is super tough, funny and braver than I could ever be. She also reminds me of one of my favorite anti-hero whose nicknamed the "merc with the mouth." Although she was dealt an unfortunate hand by having horrible parents, she didn't become a victim of her circumstances...she grew.
Lastly, I don't want to give too much away but Danica + Easton = FIRE. I loved how they met their match with each other! Congrats on another great book Eden. I am a fan :)
Ms Fortae, please keep writing, your books are awesome. I have read the Rose Series and for some reason I had Daddy’s Debt in my library for a while and my goodness this book is Wow. I love Easton and that beautiful, intelligent, sassy Dani compliment him. I don’t want to leave any spoilers but I sure didn’t see the end coming together that way. Lots of emotions… Courtney… and Ezra deserved even worse. I am hoping for a sequel and hopefully Kamel’s story. Great read!!
This book caught me off guard in the best way. Danica isn't a push over. Easton isn't what he seems. Their chemistry is undeniable from the beginning despite the insistence that they hate each other. Eden Forte does a wonderful job telling this story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who did it, when they're going to do it, and oh my God they did it. It was action filled and too damn sexy for words.
Listen.....I own every book MS. Eden has written and can tell you that I'm never disappointed. I loved the twists and turns that Trace and Danica's relationship endured. From coal to diamonds is what their love represented. Dani had them one hitta quittas with her clap backs! Had them clap backs locked and loaded...LMBO! Very refreshing read every time MS. Eden put out a new book. Sooooo.... when will we get Jermaine and Julie's story
Fantastic book! Honestly I didn't think i was going to like it but I literally couldn't stop reading it. It had everything I could want in a story... powerful male and female character... suspense some love/romance. It kept me hooked so much so I read it in one sitting! I actually wish there was a part 2 3 and 4 to this book I would love to see what happens later for the characters. Altogether a fantastic read.
I usually don't do reviews but I just had to do a small and short one on "Daddy's Debt". This book will have you up all night wanting to finish. I will not give SPOILERS because I hate when I read reviews and there's SPOILERS. But I will tell you it's worth the time and purchase!!!
"Daddy's Debt" is the fourth Eden Fortae story that I have read. While I feel that it's not on the level of "The Rose Series" (I have not read a book this year by anyone that's topped the series yet!), I had a few unexpected twists that I didn't see coming, and moments that I couldn't read fast enough to get to. I loved Easton and Danica's story! Thanks, Eden Fortae!
Plot twist, after plot twist, after plot twist, I have failed to read a book from this author that I did not like. I like how every, well, almost every, villain received their karma.
Editing needs minor adjustments, but all in all, a very good story is in this book.
If not for the typo's, I'd have given this book 5 stars. When I read the plot of this story my first thought was here we go again. I thought it was the usual storyline I'd heard and read in the past. But I'm so happy to say that this story truly exceeded any other books I've read. Great story!! Characters were definitely believable and interesting!!
So so good. I couldn't get enough of the lead characters and the hilariously funny yet dramatic dialogue. Everything about this story is on point- the danger, passion, suspense and thrills makes this one helluva page turner and an instant favorite. I highly recommend!
This story started out a little mundane but interesting. As the story progressed, it just got better and better. So much action, plot twists and moments that just left me speechless because I miscalculated the characters. An unbelievably good read.
Another phenomenal book. The twists and turns with the emotional roller-coaster ride made for an amazing book. Easton and Dani light up the pages of this book and I loved the happy ending. Thank You 💗❤💯🔥👏🏾 for a new book Bae Easton😍😍🥰
This book was filled with drama, suspense, betrayal and some sizzling Kindle moments. I could not stop reading if I wanted to. Easton, I loved him. But the shocker moments through out created consistent anticipation. As well as non-stop action.
Have someone proofread more than once and other than the author. Also, the Puerto Rican mom didn't have to have clearance to come to the US. She had been a citizen since 1917. Do just a little more research.
Good book. Glad Easton came into her life when he did. Daddy was a joke. Mama was a joke She didn't have nobody but him and how he came into her life. So unexpected with all the twists and turns was crazy, but at the end, love went out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to its end including the plot twist at that I never would of expected🤯. Danica deserves her happily ever after!
She was built up to be this smart, independent woman but it just didn't happen in this book until the very epilogue and by then it was just a little too late for me.
