Unexpected Daddies #1

Une tasse de daddy et une pincée d’amour

Rate this book

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

One Cup of Daddy and a Dash of Love by Victoria Sue
First book in the Unexpected Daddies series. M-M romance. ABDL Daddies and Littles.

Jensen finds Dash hiding in a cabinet in the closed bakery. Dash is scared and doesn’t have a place to live so Jensen takes him home. Jensen feels protective. He wants to take care of Dash. And so begins their romance. They both learn to love with their new experience of Daddy and Little. There are complexities in business and a relative with money in mind, but those take backstage to the building relationship. Jensen is new to the type of relationship and was hesitant at times. To me, that added to his niceness but it also delayed some recovery for Dash.

This was my first exposure and experience in this world of Littles.
This story was adorable for the loving and gentleness between Jensen and Dash.

Excerpt:
“He looked down. The cup was half-full, and he tried for another sip, but it seemed to get stuck in his throat. He glanced around. Was everyone watching him? Were they laughing? Panic started clawing at his skin. He gulped a hurried breath, but it didn’t help. He tried for one more, but it wouldn’t come.
“Dash, sweetheart?” He heard Daddy’s voice, but he didn’t seem to be able to answer. He dragged his eyes up—terrified—to the brown ones looking at him in concern. He vaguely heard someone say something else. He didn’t know if it was to him or about him, but he heard Daddy’s name said warningly. Why? Was he hurt? Was there something wrong? Why couldn’t he speak? Why couldn’t he move? Why couldn’t he—oh.
One minute the ceiling itself seemed to be pressing down on him, and then out of nowhere Dash was scooped up and held in Daddy’s arms and everything was quiet.
“Just take a breath for me.”
Dash gasped. He would do anything Daddy asked. Of course he could take a breath.
“And another.” He timed his inhale to Daddy’s. In and out until it wasn’t a chore.
“Such a good boy,” Daddy said approvingly, and Dash melted. He was safe. He wasn’t sure where he’d been before, and he didn’t care. He was wrapped up in Daddy’s arms so tight, so safe, he could finally breathe, and every worry seemed to fade away.”

As these stories always are, super cute with a bit of drama. This one is age-play without ABDL even though it is addressed.
I really liked that both characters are so completely inexperienced in the Daddy/little relationship, even if it invites miscommunication and causes tension.

Jensen stood there with his arms full. He’d never picked up another person in his entire life and had no idea what to say or what had possessed him. 🥺

Being little isn’t less. Less of a person, less of a partner. It’s a gift. Putting your well-being in someone else’s hands is a tremendous show of faith. 🫠

My first book by the author, definitely well written and worth looking out for more books.
Still, something is missing for me with these age-play stories. Maybe I shouldn't read any for a while.

Oh that was just so sweet and nothing like I was expecting at all!

Just a really wonderful low key, relatively angst free Daddy/boy relationship with very little sexing and a whole lot of beautiful care.

It's incredibly light on the Little kink too for those who might otherwise avoid it. It's far more concentrated on Jensen taking care of Dash and helping him get his feet back on the ground.

Silver fox Businessman Jensen, 47,

is checking out a property and ends up rescuing a freezing, homeless guy, Dashael. He then takes him to the hospital and then to Jensen's cottage.
Dashael, 19, dark curls and blue eyes,

had lost everything when his Gran died, including her bakery.

As days pass, we see small bits of information from Dash's memories and Jensen's inner monologue. They build up to talking, eating together, and watching TV. It is clear that Dash is a little and that brings out Jensen's "Daddy," but he's not very experienced.

We watch their progress, misunderstandings, successes and get terrific descriptions of various Daddy/little relationships. We can feel the changes in their talks and musings, deep stories are told, plus the needs for sexy times.

A lot of patience, understanding and small steps bring the sexy time into play.
The hateful con man, Dash's father shows up and sends Dash into a major anxiety meltdown.

We have loving, needy men who find their peace in each other.
Well written tale, interesting information, and an HFN.
No ABDL-just talk of, with age gap and Daddy/little.
ENJOY !

This was a nice age-play book, but I didn't felt all that connected to these guys unfortunately.

This should have been right up my alley, but somehow I just didn't feel it. I guess I was a little bored even though there were some parts that were sweet and cute.

3.75 stars!

So this book is mainly about establishing a Daddy/little relationship (So it's not really Daddy/boy which is a different dynamic) and exploring the age play that goes with it (which I think Daddy/boy doesn't actually have, although maybe it could.)

I was hoping for a lot more on the sexual end of this, hence the lower rating. We don't get a lot of sexual stuff between these two - we don't even get to penetrative sex between them by the end of this, which was very disappointing to me - and while there is a sexual component, it wasn't as present as I would have liked and what we did get wasn't as detailed as I would have wanted.

We mostly got the establishing of this relationship between Jensen and Dash, our MC's, and then just establishing rules and then the aspects of a Daddy/little relationship outside of sex.

This was more on the romantic side - which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of lower, because these two were incredibly sweet and adorable, and sometimes the romantic side of things aren't as focused on as they could be in Daddy!kink books so focusing on that was a big plus, and just getting to see the establishment of that Daddy/little relationship was great.

But at the same time...this wasn't even 200 pages long. It could have been longer with a balance of more sex. Like...lets get our kinky side on, maybe? This barely felt kinky even though they were doing Daddy/little things. It was diappointing.

Like it goes pretty much all in for the non-sexual aspect of a Daddy/little relationship, but once again it was a book without leaning into the sexual aspect much at all.

Because the book was so good on the romance and really fleshed out these characters and had good representation of the Daddy/little dynamic, I rounded this up to 4 stars.

But the lack of a real sexual component and really just going for it and giving us some naughty kinky sexytimes really lowered my rating for this. Like when will an author just say fuck it and go all into the sexual side of the daddy kink??

And I'm not even much one for the Daddy/little kink. I'm not much interested in age play or ADBL (which, this didn't do ABDL with the MC's but it was mentioned) but am not opposed it. But mainly with the Daddy kink I want to get some down and dirty Daddy!kink sex. Is that too much to ask? lol.

I mean yes give me the romance with it, of course. But also...give me the sex, mmkayy. Don't be afraid to lean into it all the way authors, seriously.

I mean at this point I gotta ask others, can they recommend a Daddy!kink boy (preferably Daddy/boy and not Daddy/little although I wouldn't mind reading Daddy/little) that goes all in and the sex is hot, kinky Daddy/boy fun? Because I'm not having much luck these days finding one that goes all in.

As for this, it's good for the romance, the story, the sweet relationship between these two and the non-sexual aspect of a Daddy/little relationship. Sexual, though? It's barely there and what is there isn't very detailed, and it was just straight up disappointing.

This is my first Daddy/Little book and its a completely new scene for me. While it took some time getting into it, it ended up being a really sweet story. Kudos to the author on How she handled Dash’s anxieties.

This was an ultra-sweet daddy story. I love those kind of daddies! Jensen was never a daddy before, didn’t even realize he’d like that type of relationship, but he had the tendency to try and take care of his boyfriends. They’d always say he was too overbearing...

Dash is basically homeless after his gran died and he had to sell her house and the bakery she owned. That’s where Jensen finds Dash - hiding in a cabinet in the bakery his gran owned, scared and hungry and anxious. He has a phobia of the dark and gets panic attacks.

Jensen takes care of Dash and both realize that they make a really good Daddy/boy couple... after a bit of drama, of course. But it’s all good. The story ends in a happily ever after.

I did like the extra sweetness of this story, but I needed a bit more naughtiness too. The sexy times in the bath were good (and the quick blowjob in the kitchen) but I needed a bit more...

I’m still glad that Dash got his daddy, though... so I’d say this was a good story worth reading. Not quite a 4, maybe a 3.6⭐️ or so.

I loved this book so much. It was super cute and had a few sad moments. I liked the relationship between Dash and Jensen a lot. It was great to see how they both had to find out what they like and what not and make this relationship work.
I also like that there were Mommies introduced in this book. I am curious if their is a sapphic age-play romance out their. I need to look it up.
As for the story it was good but I would have liked to get to know a little more about how Dash is going to work together with Jensens sister and I really would have loved to get a little more inside of what Dash and his grandma were like together.
Also there is this one woman that treated Dash bad and I so wished they had found a way to make her pay back.
However overall I enjoyed this book a lot and like the couple lots.

This was certainly a sweet story, featuring a young man named Dashael that anyone would love to take home with them and protect. Based on the blurb, I expected Daddy Jensen to assume the care for the virtually homeless young man and thereby show readers the love and trust between a Daddy and his little. Unfortunately, due to Jensen’s inexperience with that role and his lack of surety about being a Daddy, the dynamics between the two characters felt weak.

Jensen hadn’t had a boyfriend/partner/lover/boy for a while. His last boy told him in no uncertain terms that he’s too overbearing, with too much of a take-charge attitude so he lost himself in work and didn’t worry about relationships. When he discovered Dashael living in an apartment above a store Jensen purchased, he sees him as a boy who needs his help and insta-love, or at least insta-attraction, ensues. But, throughout the story, Jensen second-guesses his care for the boy and frequently wonders if his attitude would be perceived as too smothering. Dash was mostly happy, though little issues threw him back into doubt and angst along the way. He liked having Jensen make decisions for him but didn’t want to financially depend on him, so when they worked out a compromise whereby Dash would do some housework in exchange for room and board, he was happy—until the next doubt surfaced.

Label them both clueless because it took both Jensen’s sister (who had a Mommy/child dynamic with her own partner) and Jensen’s friend Patrick, who happened to be Dash’s doctor, to point out that Jensen’s personality is perfect for a Daddy and Dash’s for a submissive boy. Acknowledging the dynamic out loud was positive, but still Jensen doubted. In fact, though Dash had multiple reasons due to past trauma to keep from trusting in Jensen, he wholeheartedly adapted to the Daddy/boy dynamic. Jensen, however, continued to doubt himself, his feelings for Dash, his ability to take care of the boy, and on and on. Both Jensen and Dash spent time with other littles and their Daddies and both seemed comfortable with the lifestyle, and yet, more doubt arose.

I would have enjoyed the story much more without quite so much doubt on Jensen’s part. Their weak dynamic kept my appreciation of the story minimal. On a positive note, the author presented all the facets of “little play” to readers through showing both Dash and other littles playing together and by themselves. There are multiple scenes of various playtimes and snack times, including sippy cup use, and through meeting others and showing readers various couples, little play was explored and fully explained.

Those who appreciate age gap, insta-love, daddy kink, and/or angst will likely enjoy this story. *2.5 stars for me. Rounded up because I normally enjoy the author's work. Hopefully, this is a fluke.

Okay, it’s been determined Daddy/little situations aren’t for me.. I don’t think I can wrap my head around it.

Even with that said this was a sweet book, Jensen was such a perfect person for Dash. I was wanting something more with the characters I think, seeing Jensen’s parents or maybe them going out in the town more rather than them being cooped up in Jensens house.

Overall it was a sweet book a good way to see if the Daddy/little relationship is for you. Sadly it’s not for me, but from previous experience I said the daddy kink wasn’t for me now look at me… soo I mean for now the little kink isn’t for me, but I guess never say never at this point haha

Really!!!!!

What is it with this author and endings? This is the second book I’ve read now and the second time the ending got chopped. There was at least and epilogue, but dude you know we are going to complain. You built us up and then didn’t finish. (There’s a pun in there) good book, I love a daddy boy story. Writing was better, the smexy wasn’t there because the story ended as they were headed to do that, and I did like the doctor and Ellie. Don’t know what happened to Steven so that’s still hanging but ok book

This was absolutely brilliant! So sweet and heartwarming. I love character driven books and the main characters in this book were so wonderful. Really deep and well developed. I connected with both of them instantly and cared for them and I was rooting for them. I loved how much they grew and it was a joy to read their story! I wish the book was bigger.

3.5 stars.

Very nicely paced. Sometimes, book in this genre can be extremely fast-paced and the characters fall for each other within the first few chapters. Here, they technically fall in love within a few weeks, but because those few weeks stretch over a lot of pages, it gave me a chance to catch up to their feelings through their interactions and thus believe in it more. I also liked that sex was not the end goal - it was a part of their relationship for sure, but you never got the feeling that they were necessarily working towards that rather than just expanding their relationship and seeing if it led them there.

There were, however, some unresolved things that drags the rating down for me.

This was the daddy/boy book I've so wanted to read. Right now I really need to read about love, sweetness, caring daddy/boy without the punishments, bdsm elements. Would love to have more and hope the Victoria has more like this on the back burner! I also loved how Jensen punished himself and his boy for not communicating with each other. My heart just kerplunked with love. This is a definite re-read for me.

Can an accidental Daddy love a boy for real?
Jensen Cartwright managed to get to forty-seven years old thinking he would never meet a man that wanted the sort of relationship he craved until Dashael literally fell into his arms.
Homeless, and convinced adulthood is some cruel joke forced on him to make him lonely, Dash is overawed by the sexy older man who seems to offer him everything he's ever wanted including story time, bath time, and special play time.
One Cup of Daddy contains an overworked businessman who finds out that cuddling a sweet boy and keeping him safe might be the best thing he's ever done, and a scared boy who discovers that finding a Daddy and holding on tight might just be the best recipe for love ever written.

Dashael has had a tough life so far. His beloved grandmother has died leaving him all alone, save for the father that doesn’t really want him except to abuse him. He’s hiding above the cafe shop his grandmother had lovingly run for years, as the realtor shows round a wealthy business man who wishes to buy the place to add to his portfolio. When Jensen spots Dashael, he doesn’t want to frighten the younger man who raises up a fierce need to care in protect in Jensen.

The story unfolds as Jensen discovers he is perhaps the daddy who needs a little, just as Dashael is a man who needs the care and protection of the perfect daddy. It is such a shocking discovery for Jensen that ‘this’ special kind of caring relationship is in fact what he has always longed for, as he is guided by his sister and his friend who both have their own littles into the lifestyle that can give him exactly the joy and love connection he needs. Dashael is tired of being frightened but doesn’t want to push Jensen away when he is everything Dash longs for.

This sweet and sexy kinky tale is a real feel-good read that provides an HEA where everyone gets just what they need.

Highly recommended.

This is my first book by this author.
I wasn’t blown away. It was quite unremarkable.
The way the story was written, wasn’t even that great. There was way more “telling” versus “showing”, than I like in my books.

I like to read the conversation from start to finish, I don’t want an attempt of the author to quickly move on from one point to the next. Honestly, it gives the writing a “rushed” and rather “careless” vibe.

And the sex...What sex? It was nearly nonexistent. Well, at least for those of us who have read some very dirty books with very dirty scenes. This one just did not “go there” with anything sexual.

I felt like this was more of an attempt to educate the reader on what age play was. A poor attempt, because, quite frankly, it just didn’t sound interesting.

I will say this: it wasn’t the worse story out there on age play, but it wasn’t the best either (obviously you’ve gathered that).

Everything just fell into place too nicely. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m a whore for HEA, but this one just felt so...fixed.

Will I read more of Victoria Sue’s books? Good question. I don’t know.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Victoria Sue showcases the Daddy/little world in her latest novel, One Cup of Daddy and a Dash of Love. Because this lifestyle is fairly new reading for me, I cannot vouch for the validity of everything outlined in this story, but I can tell you the description and examples of the relationships are extremely enlightening and compassionately told. Dash is a perfect little in that he is desperate for the safety net a partner who is willing to be his Daddy provides. Jensen is just that net; he takes care of his boy with the utmost care, reading him fairly accurately and making sure he is never pushing Dash beyond his comfort level. I would describe theirs as an almost 24/7 lifestyle, but since it is new for both of them, I also liked how the author let space for that dynamic to change in the future. Plus, the story also presents characters who fall into their respective roles only on their days off or weekends.

This is a very sweet, low steam, low age play story. Jensen doesn't even know he's a Daddy but when he meets Dash all his protective instincts kick in. Dash is a sweetheart. A little naive at times but still a good match for Jensen.

There's a bit of drama with Dash's dad that was a little OTT toward the end. There's no ABDL but it's discussed a little. There were a couple of characters I would've liked more details about, and I needed more from Dash's background.

Even so, a very entertaining, sweet book.

Sweet

Dash and Jensen sitting in a tree, kiss ing. This was such a sweet age gap daddy boy book with Dash falling for the older guy who rescues him and gives him all the love he needs. Jensen didn't know what he wanted in a relationship let alone how to be a daddy but together he and Dash discover that the Daddy/little dynamic was a perfect fit for them. Slow burn, low angst, mild sexual exploration. Just an all around sweet story. I recommend reading and hope maybe a second book could be possible.
