Embark on an emotional and transformative journey in "Hope Returns," the gripping third book of the compelling Hope series. Hope Rodriguez's life has been a tumultuous ride, filled with twists and turns that defy her expectations. In this poignant installment, the depths of her resilience and the power of human connection come to light.
Awakening in the somber confines of a hospital's behavioral unit after a failed suicide attempt, Hope finds herself under the compassionate care of Dr. Miller, a seasoned psychiatrist. Through their sessions, she learns the significance of embracing a proactive mindset, replacing reactivity with intentionality. As she emerges from the hospital, her dear friend Liz extends an invitation that will change the course of her life—joining a mission trip to Honduras as an interpreter for the church's outreach team.
Despite her apprehension to take center stage, Hope musters the courage to embark on this transformative journey. Little does she know that the impact awaiting them in Honduras will resonate deep within their souls. The striking paradox of the country's natural beauty juxtaposed against the relentless poverty of its people leaves an indelible mark. Everywhere Hope turns, she encounters children drawn to her compassionate spirit, their homelessness tugging at her heartstrings.
Among the mission team is Dr. Henry Guest, a dedicated physician whose path intertwines with Hope's in the medical clinic. Liz hints at Henry's genuine interest in her, but Hope remains skeptical—until undeniable signs point to a growing connection between them. Meanwhile, Michael Trent, a figure from Hope's past, spirals further into a self-destructive abyss, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake.
In the midst of the profound experiences in Honduras, Hope confronts a monumental decision—one that has the potential to reshape the trajectory of her life. As she grapples with the weight of her choices, she discovers that true peace and happiness may lie in the most unexpected of places and through the unlikeliest of circumstances.
"Hope Returns" is an emotional tour de force that explores the depths of resilience, the healing power of love, and the transformative nature of self-discovery. Join Hope as she navigates a path illuminated by unexpected encounters, heartrending choices, and the unwavering pursuit of redemption. In this remarkable installment, the seeds of hope blossom, illuminating a brighter future on the horizon.

What a wonderful ending for Hope! Once again David Johnson has proven what a talented writer he is with Hope Returns. In the final book of the series, Hope finally finds what she has been seeking and the author takes you on this emotional journey with Hope as she finds her place in life. I recommend reading this book to get the whole story, you will not be disappointed. I have enjoyed the Hope series and highly recommend this author's other books. He writes heart touching stories that will leave you wanting more.
Mr David is a wonderful writer and i enjoyed the journey of each of the characters. Extremely good story that I could believe and felt like I was traveling right along with each of their stories. It felt real and I could feel empathy for each persons story. And i really felt the pressure Hope was feeling in the last of her story in having to make a decision that effected so many lives. Exciting trying to figure out how each person was going to solve their individual problems.
A seven day mission trip to the Honduras sets the scene for book 3 of the Hope trilogy. Hope finds more than she ever thought she could. Michael continues to wrestle his demons. Some of the plot is predictable but there are enough twists to keep the reader turning the pages. Not everyone has a happy ending but Hope does. God works in her life and she's not a hot mess anymore.
Hope’s character is redeemed in this book and she discovers that she is worthy of being loved. David Johnson has done his usual job of making those who choose evil to be hard to read about their depravities. It was also good to read about the homeland of her father. He gives us several surprises for Hope that really deserve another book to see them realized!
For me, Hope Returns was the best book in the series. I particularly enjoyed the experiences from the mission trip. Experiencing first hand what poverty really looked like changed all of the team except the one who has struggled with personal demons throughout the series.
For the longest time I couldn't decide who was really the main character. Hope or Michael. I know the series was named for Hope but Michael was there as well. Mr Johnson has a way of bringing everything together. He is such a talented author. I suggest that if you're looking for an inspirational story this is it.
There were lots of twists and turns in each book. I did not like Michael from the first book. The trip to Honduras held several surprises and I anticipated several of the revelations. It was a good set. Not as good as Tucker series or Toby, but good. Life is full of changes and chances. God is ALWAYS there.
If you have been reading the Hope series and have yet to read this book, please do so ASAP. There's quite a few surprises and in one or two instances you may figure out what happens just not the "how" of it.
I have enjoyed every book written by David. He pulls you in and you believe you are part of the story. This final book in the series was truly exceptional. The story and character development was wonderful. I can’t wait for his next book.
This book has touched me very deeply . I have read several of David Johnson's books. I have not read the first ones in this series. I was a missionary in Mexico for 15 years. Hope came to love the people of Honduras and herself. I totally understand.
The mission trip was a monumental wake up call to the suffering of the poor in other countries. While it doesn't trivialized our own suffering it serves to put there in a different perspective that calls to our compassion for action. I loved this story.
I loved this story. Had several typos so that is the 4 stars. A few in each book so follow carefully since on pg. 397 it is not Ted but Jed and on pg. 408 the typo word should be work. Still a great story!
