I have now read the first two in this series. I think that will be it. The writing, characters and plots are just too simplistic and formulaic for my taste.
Steve Savage, Bounty Hunter: Bounty on the Railroad was a lot of fun to read.
I thought it was an interesting twist to bring a martial artist into the western genre. I really enjoyed it and it made for some very exciting fight scenes.
The writing style reminds me of Louis L'Amour and C. Wayne Winkle and I'm expecting Chris Smith to start climbing the ranking on Amazon if his other books are as good as these first two.
Steve Savage has also developed as a character after the events of book 1. He's a lot more brutal and willing to fight if it's called for. I can't wait to read the next 4 books in the series. Chen Lee was an interesting addition to the series and I hope we see more of him going forward in the series.
Another great story in the series. No cliffhangers! Thank you! Although it is part of a series, it is a stand alone book. It was easy to read and the story flows nicely. It does leave you hanging in some places but that build the story and everything in the story fits together nicely.
This story picks right up from first story. Steve has a lead on his families' murders. He saves a number of Chinese slave labourers and find a riding partner to Texas, looking for the rest of his families' killers.
Brilliant read! Really enjoyed the new character added to the team, the storyline flowed, there was action and drama. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I know we all have different views, but how did some people give this 2 stars??? Definite 5 star material!
I have to admit that I had Jackie Chan's character from Shanghai Noon running through my head when I read this exciting adventure. The story flowed well, the plot was exciting, and the dialogue was very good.
I'm definitely going to be giving the rest of the books in the series a read. I've loved the Jim Taylor, Mountain Man adventures and the Bounty Hunter series is just as good.
This would make a great series on Netflix or Amazon Prime.
The second in the series of Steve Savage books picks up where the first one finished. I love that these books follow a story arch, but you can read them by themselves.
Hard to put down, this book is made for tv with the plot twists, action and different elements. Steve rescues some Chinese labourers from a slave master and gains a new friend and partner.
I love the easy reading of Chris Smith's works. I was hooked by Steve Savage in book one and book 2 does not disappoint. Full of action, atmosphere and suspense. Looking forward to book 3 already.
Steve Savage is still on the trail of the gang that killed his family. He follows the trail wherever it leads and now it leads to one of the gang members. He will see justice done along the way. Chen has come over from China to find his cousin, but first he has to save Steve's life.
This was a really good story that was full of action, shooting and everything that makes a good western a western. The only drawback for me was that it was another cliffhanger. I just wish the story had had an ending. I hate cliffhangers. If it wasn't for that I'd have rated it a five star tale. I'd still recommend it though.
