A Crush for Wolf Professor

Rate this book
I’m a human in a wolf-focused academy. The academy has been accepting werewolves for centuries.Due to low funds, it now allows humans with some percentage of wolf blood to attend – even if those humans don’t have any powers.Me included. The principal assigns a teacher to look after me – Zane Wartooth.Possibly the hottest teacher in the school. Also someone determined to protect me at all costs. It’s flattering, to have such a powerful protector. I might need that powerful protection, too.Not all werewolves in the academy like me.Some see me as a threat. Some wish I wasn’t there.Unfortunate for them, I have Zane Wartooth on my side.Though I doubt he’d ever find someone like me attractive… right?

Lisa Daniels is a (young) retired school teacher who resides in Miami. After five years of teaching, Lisa Daniels found that it wasn’t quite the world that she wanted to inhabit. After leaving her position, she moved to Miami. She hasn’t regretted it.

In her worlds, Lisa Daniels creates characters that go beyond the usual narrative. While they definitively include romance, Lisa Daniels strives to make the worlds more real with characters that are more than just cardboard cutouts of the genre. All of the main characters (and many of the secondary ones) have a rich history that span much longer than the stories themselves. This makes it easy to weave the stories together so that you can see characters you met in previous tales and see how they have managed since.

The Dragons of Letera is her first standalone series. Letera is a world teaming with romance, action, and stories – it is a world that Lisa Daniels loves to explore with her readers, one character at a time.

This was a very short read that at times felt a little overwhelming with all the rushed world building the author tried to accomplish in limited page time. Throw in a love story between a mostly human girl and a shifter professor/protector being pushed into life and death situations shrouded in mystery and unknown magic and the story ended too quickly to really give me a feel for either MC.

Archon Academy is a shifter school, previously open to only pure blooded shifters. With a decline in shifters, they’ve decided to open the school to non-shifters, humans with some shifter blood but little or no ability to shift or work magic.

Liv is a new student, who is in the dark about her ancestry, her family preferring to gloss over who in their family tree lent them shifter blood. When she meets Zane, her older professor, she’s glad to have someone in her corner, especially since tensions run high between her and those of pure shifter status.

There’s a completely unique hierarchy in this shifter world and there was a lot of information to process that felt like it only skimmed the surface of the politics and magic playing behind the scenes. I would have loved to read a more fleshed out story with characters that had a chance to grow and get to know each other a bit more.

Overall it was a good start to a series but Zane and Liv went from zero to sixty too fast for me to warm up to. It was a safe read with no OW/OM drama and is first in a series.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Liv Fuller and Zane Wartooth. Zane is at a school for werewolf's to work as a professor but he also feels like it is his job to protect the students with less magical ability. The problem is the last student he tried to protect he failed and the boy almost lost his life. He is determined to do better this time. So when he meets Liv he knows there is something about her but just doesn't know what it is yet. When he learns from the principle he is determined to protect her and not fail this time. From the moment Liv gets to the school she knows this will be a new start for her. She knows nothing about the Redfur family but knows that this last name got her into this school. The things is anyone who graduates this school is guaranteed better paying jobs, and overall more opportunities. So when she learns that she is there for something more it makes her both excited and uneasy. Can these two find a HEA or are the secrets of the school more than they can overcome?

This is a good story but it drags a lot. I wonder if since this says it is book one it is a to be continued book. It ends in a good place but still leaves a lot unanswered. I am a fan of this author but this one just didn't measure up. I would cautiously recommend it.

A CRUSH FOR WOLF PROFESSOR by Lisa Daniels is another fun and easy to read story with enough twists and turns to keep things interesting and exciting. Get ready for some action, slow building steamy chemistry and passion.

Due to financial problems, the Archon Academy’s rules now allow humans with any amount of werewolf blood to mingle with those of the purer variety. The old school pure bloods are determined to teach mixed bloods their place in society -- No Place.

Liv's grandmother was of werewolf heritage, allowing Liv to get enrolled even though she can't shift or have any other powers. But not everyone is on-board with mixed bloods being in the school. This leads to a lot of hazing, bullying, even death. For this reason the principal has assigned one of the teachers to look after her. But why only her and not other mixed bloods?

Professor Zane Wartooth has been assigned to keep an eye on the new student. He has no idea what is special about her, but he is determined that no more students will be killed or even hurt on his watch.

Politics, racism prevails through this story.

Liv and Zane meet at the Archon Academy. Its a school for werewolves but they have started letting others with shifter blood but can't shift go to school there. Liv is one of those people and when she arrives she sees first hand how people like her are treated. Zane is her professor and wants to be there for her. Liv is part of a rare bloodline that doesn't seem to exist anymore. When she is with Zane and the head master of the school she unlocks something of her family's past and they warn her about telling others where she comes from. Things heat up between her and Zane but they try to stay professional towards one another. When she is almost abducted Zane has her stay with him to keep her safe. Will they be able to keep her safe? Will Liv uncover more secrets about her family? Can her and Zane be together?

This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

This is my first book by Lisa Daniels and enjoyed it. I did find it a bit slow to begin with but it got more exciting as the story went along. I enjoyed Lisa’s take on werewolves as it’s different than anything I’ve previously read as they’re the werewolves in scary movies and not just wolf shifters. Liv Fuller, a Redfur descendant gets accepted to Archon Academy and is excited but she has no idea the danger she’s in, as a lot of the high raking werewolf families don’t want anything other than full werewolves to be able to attend the Academy and they look down as anything as human as scum and not worthy but luckily Professor Zane Wartooth has offered to protect Liz from possible threats. They slowly get closer the more time they spend together and they realise that they are drawn to each other. I thought it ended rather abruptly. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Eye of Odin

A Crush for Wolf Professor book one in the new series Wild Wolf Shifter Academy by author Lisa Daniels. Intriguing new look into the world of magic and shifters(wolves). A school for wolves & humans with wolf blood. A big new step yet there seems to be darkness everywhere- there’s one though that makes the darkness fade. Maneuvering through this world with him by your side might not be so bad. Learning new things about yourself might just be the ticket. Drama and suspense blend together seamlessly to make this a great read.
Enjoy!!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. A Crush For Wolf Professor by Lisa Daniels is the first book in the Wild Wolf Shifter Academy series. This is an interesting twist on shifters and magic wielders in an academy that has begun to integrate humans with werewolf in their heritage... whether they can shift or not. This read has a slightly Harry Potterish vibe leaning more towards shifters. Liv is our hesitant heroine and Zane is the professor assigned to keep her safe when her heritage comes to light. A fun read that holds a lot of promise.

When Liv got accepted into the Archon Academy she never expected the magical journey she would be taken on. The academy usually only accepts pureblood werewolves but they now accept those with any amount of werewolf blood. At the academy, Professor Zane is assigned to protect her. The writing is well done, the storyline is intriguing and I am loving all of the characters. This is a quick read but packed with danger, intrigue, magic, shifters, family secrets and so much more. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This is a university-based paranormal romance with a unique concept (as far as I know). It had a lot of elements. Magic, quests, lost heirs The story was fast-paced and easy to follow. I would read other books in this series but I didn’t enjoy the romance side much, as I dislike the idea of teachers forming relationships with first-year students

Shifter academy where full blooded werewolves and humans with some wolf blood are accepted as students. But the full blooded have no love for the others. They will do anything and hurt anyone for power. For Liv she saw a chance at a good school. But she will soon learn that things aren’t so nice. One professor will be her protector but can they stop those who want power?

Higher learning can be killer!

A new world took a little getting used to, so the first bit was a bit slow. Once it got going, though there was action and romance and danger. I liked how the climax played out, especially for the baddies. It did end rather suddenly.

This was a great read. Not often I read about were-wolves especially in a college of their own. This has all the ingredients required for a good book, romance, shape shifters, kidnapping and magic. Highly recommend this book

Latent abilities

This story has a different spin on the shifter story. Powers from artifacts take precedent over personal worth leading to jealousy and power plays.

Zane and Liv's Story . . .

Due to financial issues, Archon Academy has adjusted their criteria to now permit humans who had any amount of werewolf blood to enter the Academy as long as they met qualifications. The “pure bloods” were furious about that and threatened the safety of the mostly-humans.

Liv's grandmother was of Redfur werewolf heritage, so Liv was permitted to enroll even though she can't shift and shows no other magical powers. So for her safety, Principal Sutton called a meeting, made sure the others knew they had to be on their best behavior toward humans, and assigned Professor Zane Wartooth to guard and protect Liv. With a drop of Liv’s blood which was able to open the Redfur moon room, she saw things Zane and Principal Sutton could not see. In that room, her touch on a drawing opened a drawer and she discovered Ophelia’s diary, learning of family secrets, and found the magical pendant “Odin’s Eye”. Now someone is after her for the power the pendant contains. Can Zane protect her? Can they discover who is after her?

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Liv and Zane and does not let go. Liv is mostly human and when she enters the Archon Academy, Zane is charged with keeping her safe. The story keeps you turning the pages with danger, magic, evil intentions and love.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Liv is a human with a small amount of werewolf blood from the Redfur clan and that is how she got into the Academy. Zane, her professor, is her assigned protector. She rates this due to her wolf heritage. The principal has her open a vault of her family and they find a diary. Liv then finds the coveted pendant of her family which has its own surprising heritage. When Liv is kidnapped and before she is rescued, it is this heritage that gives Liv her freedom and a new gift. Live and Zane become a couple. This looks like a promising start to a new series.

I liked this first part. The writing style is pleasant and the characters are well crafted.
The book can be read as a stand alone (without a cliffhanger at the end).

I liked the atmosphere of the Wolf Shifter Academy very much (The antiquated and petty mindset of pure werewolves, their bullying towards the human students and the prospect of finding secret magical artifacts). What I liked about Liv`s and Zane`s relationship was, that both got simply involved at some point. Without long remorse or long hesitation.

I got an ARC via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

Zane is a professor that is half human and wolf. He has never really fit in. When he was to protect a student and didn't he swore he never would again lose one. Liv is mostly human who got accept into the academy even though she has hardly any wolf blood left in her line. When things come out, her life is threaten. Can Zane save her or will her life be over?
