Someone has dedicated most of their life to bringing time travel movie dreams into reality. Doc's obsession may be the only hope for the many realities of the New Century Multiverse. Luckily, he brought along a kid who has no time for his generation's exasperating nostalgia.
The clock is running out, as this pair of adventurers try to save everyone and everything, before the end.
A thrilling, funny, heartwarming, mind-expanding heist across time + space, from the author of The Christmas Thieves.
The title and cover let you know right away this is an unapologetic love letter to Back to the Future, but it's much more than that. This is a clever and carefully-crafted time travel story many years in the making.
The story hits pretty hard as a character-driven drama about coping with loss and finding where you belong in the world. Charlie's journey with her time-traveling companion is as relatable as it is fantastical. Even with the power to undo their own mistakes, there are compromises that have to be made, and there is no timeline with a happy ending where everybody survives and everybody goes home.
It makes a lot more sense now in hindsight that so many books came out this year, as they all had to be planned alongside BiT&S to keep the continuity making sense. I won't spoil how the events of this book impact the previous books, but suffice it to say this paid off on a subtle promise made way back in Uncivil Outlaw, and that in itself put a huge smile on my face. The diagrams in the appendix are a big help for wrapping your head around all the alternating timeline shenanigans, some of which are not the least bit obvious on your first reading.
This is also the first book in the series to have an openly genderfluid character, which is pretty great for a portion of the audience who have been longing to be seen more in media.
As with Nightfall of the Wendigo, this one doesn't work well as an entry point into the series, but it's a wonderful finale to Phase 2. New Century fans, put this one on your list.
Oh boy i notoriously read this series out of order but even I wasnt brave enough to read the TIME TRAVELS STORY until is finished the rest of the series. Will absolutely test your knowledge of New Century canon. But man, none of that matters at all cause its so good to catch up with Abby. Also Charlie is like top tier new character, i love their WHOLE thing.
