Tribes #4

Captured

Rate this book
Omi
When an alien shows up down the river, I pick her off and put her in my cave like any other item I store. Except this alien moves into my nest and forces my transition into a male. There's only one female who can do that, and after a thousand turns, she has arrived to me.

The problem? I haven't taken my male shape in many turns. I'm practically an animal. A feral bird of prey unfit for a goddess. I can barely walk on these odd two feet. Well then, I’d better shape up. Shave, bathe in oils, put some jewelry in my hair. For a goddess has landed in my nest, and the heat marathon waits for no Alpha, not even the king of the Om tribe.

Gwen
I thought escaping an exploding transport ship was scary.

Then I meet him. Or, more accurately, he catches me like a falcon snatching a mouse and carries me back to his aerie.

It gets better!

He shifts from a giant bird into something more recognizable. More mouthwatering. An Alpha male.

He says I am his Omega. And if I can manage not to freak out, I just might become his goddess of wind and desire.

***Omegaverse flavored Science fiction Romance. Can be read as a standalone or as a part of the series.

Exquisite story

"I have waited my entire life for you, and I'm never letting you go,"

This story feels beyond a rgular shifter romance. The typical tags just don't fit this sweepingly beautiful love story between an Omega Goddess and her Alpha Leader. Whew, whew, whew....let's just get this out the way. If you came for the typical, just turn back around. Here is the atypical story. We have two adrift spirits finding each other during a time of awakening. The goddesses are being reborn and walking the earth, and the lucky men who are destined to be mated to them are basking in the glory. The push pull of the story was nice. Yes, she's an Omega, but as a goddess to his regular alien, maleness was a nice balance. Several times, we were told the Omega is powerful and can do as she pleases, but no, we watch how much he wants her. As he speaks directly to the Goddess spirit, "I want to keep her after the heat. I want her to be bound to me. I don't want to let her go." 🥵Whoooa boy, did we feel the passion and loneliness and lost time in his declaration. The BOOM moments that came, the realistic violence. Dealing with goddesses is tricky business. Flipping who is the predator and who is the prey. All nasty, nasty, sweet stuff. This little story packs a punch. Even with all it's pages the mythology was laid out nicely, the characters an intiruging mix of characteristics and a sweet love. Only the Goddess Omega walking the earth and searching for her true Alpha can make the winged bird stand on two legs.

You remember Nen from the last book, the badass bird of prey, yeah, he is still a badass, and so is his goddess. He spies with his bird’s eye something floating on the river current. And that’s when he literally swoops in and takes the “prey” before any other predator can get her. Such a gentleman. He is so funny with his arrogant, dry and sarcastic humor, I laughed so hard. At first Gwen aka Ila, thinks she’s been taken by a female bird, and that cracks me up too. So funny, and surprise, surprise, not a female bird. Still need to get there, and become a goddess too, because let’s face it, these women are living the dream. Powerful, loved by sexy insatiable men, that can protect them, and spoil them, seriously they are living the dream.

Safe read, with a bearded, tattooed, Norse biker looking bird of prey, and his goddess of wind and desire *wags eyebrows*. These two were bringing the heat too, soooo much heat. Great storyline, a funny epilogue and a hea. Next book please.

The best funny interaction between a couple like ever in a Milana story - so different in their kinds it fits perfect.

Nice Omegavers aspects but at this time I was overloaded with the worldbuilding - it led away from the actual romance and the goddess story I could no longer follow.
So I faded that out and found the development of the relationship fell by the wayside. Approaches and opportunities to simply deepen are all there, but it is left up to the reader and their imagination to do so.

Only I am a consumer who loves to follow the ideas and words of Milana and I want to be entertained, totally selfish, so only 3 stars. Story top, idea and couple top, embellishment interesting and damn good aspects for more.

Incredibly interesting

I loved the book!! This world is so incredibly interesting!
This is about the Om, who are birds of prey. This is set around the same time as book 2.
The Omi is the alpha of the Om tribe. He has been in bird form for the last 2 years. He sees what he believes is prey to eat. When he gets back to his nest with it he soon discovers she is something extra.
Gwen has crashed and taken by a huge bird. This bird turns into a man and says that she is a godess. What is he talking about?

“It occurs to me, Ila must really like me if she’s threatening Eme. It’s really neither here nor there at the moment, but it’s nice to know.”

A short read that I found to be very entertaining. As the series progresses, MJ keeps the sci-fi elements but also leans more and more on the fantastical side of the world she has created. I’m currently on the fence about that. But I liked this book.

Nen+Ila.

I was craving a Milana Jacks story, and past me helped future me because I hadn't finished this series and now I think I will be.

I don't know if it is that I don't remember the series correctly or Nen+Ila are changing the landscape, but I don't remember the women actually being divinity. I remember the guys likening them to their Goddesses and the quirky happenings, but not like Ila flying divinity.

Anyway, loved it. Loved the deadpan humour. Loved the OTT possessiveness. Will be reading more.

I couldn’t finish this. I loved the Horde books and book one of this series was intriguing but again the world building has taken over and it’s just so convoluted and ... not interesting to me. Another human becomes some sort of goddess incarnation with another alien- a bird guy this time. I never attached to the heroine, don’t care about the hero and there was no connection or chemistry for me. Too bad.

Alpha problems

I’ve 5-starred all the previous books and I will continue reading this series. However, I would like the chance to explain my two stars.

I hate with much passion, Nen, the male lead. I did in fact throw my phone in disgust at his actions that were supposedly supposed to be sexy. I understand when an “Alpha” needs to be an Alpha. I have understood in the previous books and even in this book, that these guys are Predators and their actions will most likely not make a whole lot of sense. However, Nen, is an asshole and I don’t like him. He stole Gwen’s potential and sense of self. He took away any option she had at being a strong female lead. When she said stop, he just beat his chest and told her no. I came away thinking feeling like this poor Goddess is no Goddess at all and instead is a woman who is put in her place and told what to do.

I had the hardest time finishing this book and when I saw I was at the Epilogue, I literally looked over at my husband and said “oh thank god, I’m done with this book”.

It was enjoyable to see the Om (Bird people) and get more understanding on their way of life. I LOVED the world the author built for them and the potential they have. However, if another book has a male like Nen, I will probably skip the book. I truly hate this character. But it’s worth a read, if you’re a fan of the series. Just… skip any sex bits because he’s just… terrible.

A sexy alpha male who rescued a female taking her to his nest

When Omi had first discovered the female and taken her to the safety of his next, he had not consisted the full possibilities of inclination of his species of by some wondrous miracle she was his mate. He knew that he resembled more of a wild super-sized bird than a male and get as they spent time together and he became familiar with his new form there was no doubt be was very much Alpha male.

Gwen had been a little scared at first but is as time has passed and they bc and spent time together and she recognises the change her being around him has had, he now looks and walks like a man. He protects her, making her feel safe and desired as well as she knows they are meant to be together.

This is a wonderful read that is written so cheerfully and without doubt you will find it impossible to put down until you know reach the final page and discover the outcome

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Loved this one, my favorite so far !!

I could see myself a lot in the female character, I got so excited when her mother was also described sounded a lot like my own in so many ways even her description of looks. Also the main female character has many attributes that I also carry. I loved it,every single word. Just what I would want so hot and fast. I will definitely be putting this one in my yearly reread rotation. And can't say enough about the series as a whole, I love all the characters and how they are all very different. Also, how they play out is making just amazing stories that jump off the pages.

This book introduces us to Nen and Gwen. It is written in a totally different way to previous books in this series, but that change is a good and positive one. I loved the light hearted banter from Nen. He's such a darling and he's funny. Transitioning from bird to human for the first time in several years isn't easy and learning how to deal with a human then finding out she's a goddess - well that takes things up a couple of notches.
I'm curious to see if Gwen "hatches" out eggs or has human babies.
These stories are beautifully written and Milana is one of my all time favorite authors.
I heartily recommend her books.

Hmm...

I feel like a section was missing ing the beginning! He leaves the nest then all off a sudden they are having the knot party!!?? He was a jerk this whole book...and she just was like oh well...i'd rather him be a happy predator....WHaT??!!?...This was not a romance to me..it felt like Stockholm syndrome... Also unlike in the other books it seems that Gwen really has turned into a goddess....but then she seems like her human self. This was very confusing! I'm glad this book was short cause i hated it. I really liked all the other books so far. But this one not so much.

4 1/2 ⭐️s

At first I was a little confused when I started reading this book but it started to unravel so fast I had no choice but to follow along. It is funny how the women who crash land on this planet are being taken over by the different goddesses that ruled this planet. Gwen was no different but she caught on quicker than the other women. I am intrigued and so looking forward to how all this is going to end for each tribe.

3 1/2 star rating ( I round up ) Interesting installment of the series. There were a few editing errors in the book, extra words that didn't belong. I enjoyed most of the story. It seemed rushed. At least the heroine wasn't freaked out by a goddess sharing her physical body and she got on board quickly with the sexy Alpha male. I am going to go read this author's other series and see if I like it.

Ooh la la yummy Omegaverse goodness 👁👄👁
Steamy knotting and omegas in heat smex🌶❤️
The interaction between the female lead and male lead is hella fun to read! Especially when she thought he’s a male birb. 🤣
No other woman/man. No cheating.
One person in one life’s ❤️

Again, this book is also a fantastic, entertaining and fun read!
Shorter than the other books, so it’s a quick one.

Highly recommended!
Would I re-read? YES!

Now onto the next book!

One of my favorites

I love omega tropes. This one was so good. Gwen is sassy and sweet. A little lost sometimes but that's ok. Ner is funny and jealous and dirty. The steam!!! The steam is like a five alarm fire. I think he is my favorite Alpha. I love this world, I love the goddesses, I love the men that worship them. The world building is great, each story is unique and Fresh.

Oh My Omi!! This is an Advanced Reader Copy Review of Captured. I liked this Alpha. He knew who she was, which Goddess, before she did. But up until then, I kept laughing at their miscommunication. I enjoyed her sarcasm because he didn’t understand it. But when she finally, inherently knew who she was, Wowza! So cool! I’m glad their are more stories to come! I just love this series!

I don't know what happened but I didn't enjoyed this book as the others.
Nothing really happened in this book and it lacked connection between the characters. They were together just like that. And it seemed like some in between chapters are missing. The ones describing why she decided to stay with him and not run even if she had the power to do so.

I love the series and this book didn't disappoint. The story is more fast paced than the others and wonderful still. Omi is a bird shifter and sees Gwen floating is the water and grabs her. He takes her to his nest and they get to know each other. I read an arc of this book and this is my review.

Very focused, plus characters with wonderful chemistry, Nen and Gwen are special together. Once he gets past trying to figure out what she is, he works on convincing her that she's meant to be his. The scenes are hot, there's some action and the story moves fast. It's A nice continuation to the series!

2 stars.....ummmm, this was just super weird. Not terrible mind you, just REALLY out there.
Doormat Goddess aren't really my ideal either.
Idk this one was just a no for me all the way around.
🌶️🌶️-uhhh, I just kind of don't know how to even relate this.
🌟hats off to the author for even publishing, that is a feat in itself and I will never begrudge an author this.

I wonder why Milana Jacks is keeping these gems so short. There is so much lore that could be unleashed and so much character building left out and so much more potential. It's an entertaining short read but could be much more. And lasting longer...

This book was entertaining and a fast read. I enjoyed reading about an Alpha male who wasn't interested in what anyone else did as long as his woman was safe. I would recommend this book to anyone.
