Born in the land of Vlad the Impaler, Edmond Geanta grew up and studied Cybernetics in Romania.

At twenty-four he emigrated to America and on 4th of July 1990 with only $23 in his pocket, Edmond landed in New York. Later that year, he somehow ended up in Detroit, Michigan. He is still wondering about that…

After years of consulting in project management and strategy, it dawned on him that project management was like constantly dodging zombies. Inspired, but mainly bored to death during the Covid shut down, he put his thoughts on paper and his first book, “Project Z” was launched in Ju

In his new series – “Blood Calls for Blood” Edmond takes the reader through a mind-numbing action ride. The series is peppered with love, humor, horror, but mainly the human spirit for hope and survival. But make no mistake, although vampires and zombies are the backdrop of his writing, the human element surfaces in every one of the pages of this thrilling saga.

On a personal level, I enjoy a glass of good scotch and love to travel around the world. My favorite places are San Sebastian in Basque country, and Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Excellent

This is one great story. A small family is trying to survive the start of the zombie apocalypse. When the mother is turned, they seek hep for her. That is when things get really interesting. You need to read this book. It's a whole new twist on the ZA.

Edmond Geanta – Zombie Evolution

Blurb:

She is a fiery descendant of Dracula. He is an Icelandic ex special forces. And then there is Eve—their 5-year-old. When Gabi is infected by a zombie, devastated and heartbroken Rey does the impossible to save her. Only she turns into something else—the next step in human evolution. A new female superhero emerges from the ashes of a post-apocalyptic America. While the new Gabi is hunted by the US military hoping to develop a cure from her DNA, Eve is the one holding the key to the unique bloodline.

Strengths:

Gets off to a good start this book and it is fairly action packed throughout. Rey made me think of Jack Reacher and when we meet Gabi properly for the second time, it is almost like she has turned into a Professior X like character and then we head into Vampires, it is a mixture of all kinds of genres and does it work. Well, yes and no.

I loved the intro set in the past which is a great way of setting up the story and then we meet the family unit and things are set up I felt quite nicely of the bond between the three of them and then..

This is where things start to get a little uneven for me. I liked the way they bought in Gabi’s mum who they rescue who adds a bit of spice to things before becoming a bit nicer later on.

I enjoyed the use of Jenkins who possibly stole the show for me which calmed down the use of the over the top stuff from Rey and Gabi in places later on too.

Weaknesses:

Gabi. As soon as she came back to life, I struggled with her character completely and her dialogue and thought it was a mistake pushing Rey right into the background.

The book had a good ending certainly and you could imagine the pair of them being almost unstoppable for the second book, but then it would be a case of how do you keep building bigger and bigger enemies for them to fight. It could work, but I won’t be there.

I think it needed the human touch more perhaps something akin to the Anita Blake series as without it, and the use of Jenkins did help but not enough it goes over the top.

I got to the end of the book and thought it was a steady start to a possibly good series but was then completely put off by the long extract from the 2nd series where we start getting character for two of Gabi’s Zombies and it was rubbish frankly as I felt those characters simply didn’t need fleshing out (I know)

6/10 – The extract for the second book cost it for me there to be honest and the use of Gabi when we could see what her powers were. Perhaps it would improve in the second book and beyond, but the further the book went along, it lost me and lost the human heart that needed I feel to fully connect with readers, otherwise it would have being a 7 maybe a bit more as it did get off to a very good start indeed.

Best of both worlds !

Zombies and vampires brought together in the same story? Seems too good to be true. This was action packed and different and never slowed down a bit. I loved it!

2 stars. A mildly interesting idea that is hurt by crude prose, a number of editing mistakes (esp. homonyms) and a host of tired clichés. HOLLY crap, but I really didn't like this at all (look it up)!

I appreciate that the author's native language is not English and at first I tried my best to let that slide as I myself have been in the same position for half my life. However, this wound up being a very basic book that I can only analogously compare to a wall put together with no cement to glue everything together. It gets so INANE after a while with all the coincidences and instantaneous escapes that it becomes painful. I know this wasn't supposed to be a humorous story but I really did start to laugh out loud in some parts.

The characters are at best caricatures and are all AMAZINGLY adept (or inept as the case may be) at doing whatever it is that's needed of them at a moment's notice. Even the resident drunk and disgraced former virologist (that was convenient!) manages to become a Navy SEAL when he needs to be ready to fight off zombies. And somehow, as the world around them collapses, our intrepid heroes make it across half the USA with barely any problems. Gosh golly, aren't we glad we had that big truck? And perhaps the greatest soldier to ever come out of Iceland? Why, no problem then for him to face the best - and extremely well-armed - military folks he comes across. Evil deadly assassins? Pfft, no prob! The list goes on...

I do like zombie novels. A lot. And I think the author tried his best (though I would not grant that same designation to his support / editing team). But this will go down for me as the one that I will inevitably compare to the 'Sharknado' franchise in terms of the genre. Lots of gore and able to hold the attention span of today's iPhone addicted teen. Nothing more than that though. So good luck and godspeed to all of you who try it out and even continue the series! I will not be joining you.

Reynir Halldor and his wife, Gabriela, live fairly normal lives as truckers, bringing their daughter with them on their adventures. One day, while getting gas during a paper delivery, something not-so-normal happens: Gabi is attacked coming out of the gas station. The two decaying men manage to scratch her before Rey kills them, but the damage is done. His beloved wife turns into a zombie while their small daughter naps in the truck. Will Rey be able to find a cure for Gabi, or will he have to learn to be a single parent during a zombie apocalypse?

First of all, this book is a spin-off from Geanta’s first book, Project Z (which I loved and gave a 9/10). It took two minute characters we met in passing and expanded on their story.

Technically, the way Project Z ended, this whole book (trilogy, actually, I think) isn’t quite possible, but I don’t really care. In Project Z, when we met the large man with teeny daughter on their way to California to find a cure for the mother’s zombie-ism, I was obsessed, then very disappointed when the group from Project Z parted ways with Rey and Eve.

So, naturally, I devoured this book (also, my brain decided homework wasn’t in the cards because nothing was due for a bit). I loved the depth of each character, even the stereotypical mother-in-law that we can all relate to having.

I loved how it was related back to Vlad the Impaler (not Dracula 😂), as zombies and vampires are my favorite horror creatures (some of my favorite shows are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Walking Dead).

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about this book (except, of course, Victor, but that was worked out).

Alright, zombies, vampires, apocalypse...

I believe this is my first read from this author. I gotta say it was a very interesting read. Solid 5 star rating.

There was very minimal editing issues that I ran across while reading. You have no idea how refreshing that is. I know it's hard to find a perfectly edited book so when I find something close, it's pretty amazing.

Here you have a storyline with zombies, is action packed, and the importance of family and love. There is plenty of blood and gore though, because...ummm...zombies! So if that's not your forte, then, yeah, this book may not be for you.

You have the family; Gabi, Rey, and Eve, who are, to me, the main characters of this novel. There's always a villain, of course. In this case, when you start reading, you'll have the same response I did, which was "Of Course" lol.

The author did a good job building up the main characters and providing enough background information. This gives the reader the feeling of knowing the characters.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I have been gifted the first book in the 'Blood Calls for Blood' series, and despite not typically being a fan of zombie fiction, I felt somewhat obliged to give it a try.
To my surprise, the first book was an unexpected and exhilarating read, prompting me to download the entire series. The writer takes you on a thrilling journey, a rollercoaster of unexpected twists and turns, seamlessly blending fantasy, history, and science. Throughout the series, the writer skillfully and subtly weaves in the inconvenient realities of our society, offering thought-provoking insights for readers who can connect the dots.
It's difficult to choose a favorite book from this series as the writer consistently maintains a remarkable standard of storytelling, crafting compelling and engaging narratives throughout all 10 books.
I'm glad the writer concluded the series at book 10 – I was starting to experience sleep deprivation due to my irresistible urge to know what would happen next.

Great read!

Zombie Evolution is an entirely new take on zompoc storytelling, st least, to me. The main characters are larger than life in their efforts to keep their family and friends safe. I was very surprised at the massive plot twists employed to keep me turning pages late into the night. I am looking forward to book 2 of this series. I highly recommend it.

Good start but rushed the plot and characters

The book started well with good progression on the plot and growth of characters. However as the book progressed the plot got more jumbled and rushed with the viewpoints (character actions) switching with no clear indication. Major events during the book also seemed to be solved with only a few sentences dedicated to it.

An interesting concept regarding the origins of vampires, but not enough to keep me reading the series. Please note I was never a fan of the Zombie genre so my rating was clearly biased.

Great first book of the series!

I enjoyed book 1 so much! Definitely a different take on a zombie apocalypse with the introduction of the vampires. The vampires are different then what we normally know them to me. Can’t wait for book 2! Can’t wait to see where they story goes

My Thoughts:
The books in this series has obviously gone through a few re-makings with the cover arts and the titles. Not sure about the content. Anyway, this version of this book is good enough that now this series has a new fan in me, and that is saying a lot because I am not a zombie fan. I've watched a few zombie movies, sure! But I do not seek out the genre.

I didn't know that the author wrote this series during the covid lockdown. So when the book mentioned covid, I was shocked! Then I wanted to know when was this book released?! That was a good dose of something familiar! Talk about realism! The greatest contributory factor that is holding this book from a 5 out of 5 is the ending. Of course, it is a cliffhanger... and I do not like cliffhangers!

Of course the ending is a cliffhanger leading to the next book in the series... What I really wanted though are audiobook versions of these books!

Empirical Evaluation:
Story telling quality = 5
Character development = 5
Story itself = 5
Writing Style = 5
Ending = 3
World building = 5
Cover art = 4
Pace = 4
Plot = 4

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5
