War is coming.

One way or another, the outcome will forever change the Sixth Realm.

Egan once thought his life would be marked with loneliness and invisibility in order to protect the fact that he’s actually a dragon, until meeting Prince Raiden. Now, he’s thrust into a world he never imagined he would be a part of. He's willing to find his place in Raiden’s world to be with the man he loves.

As prince, Raiden feels the weight of the impending battle and the lives of his people in peril. Everything hangs in the balance. He finds hope, strength, and refuge in the love he has in Egan and wants to cherish every moment while they can.

When the day arrives, Raiden and Egan march to war. Two soldiers bound together, bound both with duty and love.

"Blood to blood, and heart to heart. We're in this together, Egan. Whatever happens, we'll face it together."
"Together."

4.5 stars!

Debbie has once again written a fantastical novel filled with young, unconditional love that we all aspire to find and a sense of adventure that is able to transport us into the Sixth Realm which is strife in unease and turmoil. BOUND IN FIRE picks up right where OF HEART AND WINGS left off, with Raiden and Egan and the rest of the Sixth Realm preparing for battle against the Fifth Realm in order to protect their citizens from the tyrannical King Tarjak.

Besides the tension and sense of danger that lingers over the first half of the novel as the threat of war looms closer, this novel was once again filled with the sweet love between Prince Raiden and the dragon shifter Egan. Their relationship was just so sweet and endearing, and I loved witnessing their easy love and unconditional support of one another as their relationship continues to evolve in book two. But even with all of the sweet moments between Raiden and Egan, and even Tarrock and Egan, there were some rather harder moments to overcome in BOUND IN FIRE. However, I'm certain that love will continue to conquer all despite the cliffhanger we're left with in the end, which left me desperate for book three TALONS OF LOVE ♡

Bound in Fire is the second book in the Dragon King series, and I must recommend that you read this series in order, as this book picks up right after the events in the first book. I also HIGHLY recommend this series if you're looking for something sweet (it's YA folks, so we're talking sweet, not anything overly sexy), uplifting, positive, and full of acceptance. Basically, if you want to read about two ridiculous boys falling for each other and being total End Game, give this series a try!

Raiden is the prince of the realm; Egan is a commoner and son of a blacksmith - he's also hiding a major secret that he can shift to become a dragon. At the start of this book, Raiden and Egan are fully committed to each other. The entire nation is preparing for war against the neighboring realm and Raiden and Egan are just trying to find some moments of happiness in being together before the battle.

This series is definitely a journey for Raiden and Egan, and although life is tough with wars and struggles, I know that these two will ultimately make to through it all, since they are stronger together. I love their moments together, I love their sweetness and their commitment to each other. My only caveat is that there are a couple times where the dialogue and prose maybe got a...touch too purpley for me? (They seem to talk in a mix of more formal historic/fantasy talk, but can also say "hang out with you" and "hey.") but that is definitely just my personal preference in flowery lovey-dovey talk LOL.

It's REALLY hard to discuss this book without giving away spoilers - like, REALLY difficult. Things didn't happen the way I thought they would play out at all - and that's a good thing! Debbie McQueen literally left me gasping, going "OMG!!!" and messaging her at 3 AM because of that ending! (so - warning - there IS a cliffhanger to this story, moreso than the way Book 1 ended) and I'm already asking for the third book.

This book comes out January 24th, so make sure you catch up and read the first book before then so you can enjoy this sweet YA queer fantasy story!

Thank you so much to the author for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Raiden's and Egan's adventure still has that comforting sweet vibe of a teenage love and it's not only the acceptance of their families but the complete 6th kingdom, even after Egan's coming-out as a dragon. I still love how less of a fuss is made about the fact that Egan's dragon is female. It's just what it is and even the author doesn't take advantage of it and makes it bigger than it is.

Nevertheless I was a bit disappointed about the war, now that it finally happened. Usually such a war would dominate a book, would be a turning point and the evil side would show its ability to destroy and endanger everything but here it just happens; Raiden and king Trajak clash and then it's over. The fifth realm takes no advantage from their advanced weaponry, there is no sense of strategy and after the victory the armies just part. The only turning point if for Egan but there's never any doubt about the result. So the war appears nearly as an event that had to be but doesn't matter much afterwards and is already over in the first half.

Lots of love and relationship building in this second installment to Debbie McQueen's Dragon King series. I listened to the audiobook, which is fantastically narrated, and is also, for me, a better reading experience after the bad editing of the first book. There were still some verbs in the wrong tense in this one, but it's easier to overlook in audio than in written form.

Egan and Raiden are as sweet and lovely as ever in this book. I also very much love how the author has written familial relationships--it's so nice to see a fantasy novel where family treats each other with love and respect. Although some plot points felt anticlimactic (why build up the war in book one and half of book two for it to take up only a single chapter?), overall, this was an easy, low-angst read with sympathetic and relatable characters and a super sweet m/m romance.

This is the second book in the Dragon King series and please be aware that this series has to be read in order.

this review contains spoilers regardimg the first book

Raiden and Egan are back from the Third and are now preparing for battle. Their relationship has advanced from friendship to lovers during their trip and they are well received back home, where they have to prepare for war.

It is very difficult to go into more details without spoilering ther book, which I try to avoid.

I really liked this book and it had me on the edge of my seat. for me there was a big development in the characters and the story from the first book. and although it works better for me when I pretend they are a bit older, that doesn't have any negative effects on my enjoyment of the story. inbetween the dialogues between Raiden and Egan are a bit too much for me due to their very flowery speech, whivh doesn't fit all the time and are unnessecary because we can feel threirv love for each other.

as this book ends on a cliffhanger, I am really glad I have the third book already on my kindle ...

Our favorite prince and dragon is back to remind us that it's okay to love whoever you choose to love!

Just 20 more days before the rest of the world can finally read what happened to Raiden and Egan when they came back for the 3rd realm!

@authordebbiemcqueen had me on the edge of my seat and there's 2 plot twists that I didn't see coming. One happens during the battle scene...oh wait... there's 3 plot twists! 2 happens during the battle scene and the other one explains why Debbie decided to name the book Bound in Fire!

Raiden and Egan are so sweet, they gave me a toothache! I just love these two together. I would read a chapter or 2 and then I would get upset with Hub because he doesn't do all the romantic and adorable things Raiden and Egan does for each other!

But Debbie made me cocky - I kept thinking: Egan is a dragon and Raiden is a prince! Nothing will happen to them! They're invincible! The world she created is full of rainbows and sunshine and acceptance. No one said one mean thing because two men fell in love with each other. So you get used to the idea that nothing bad will happen to them!

I normally check to see how many pages I have left in a book but the last 10 chapters, had me sucked into the story and I forgot to check how many pages there's left and when I realized something bad was about to happen, I realized I only had 3 pages left and I knew they won't be able to do anything to make sure there's a happy ending at the end of this book! There's a massive cliffhanger! But this is how a book is supposed to end! It forces you to nag the author to send you the ARC for the next book so you know what freaking happens! I immediately shouted at Debbie when I finished this book! She did warn me about the ending but to read it with your own eyes! It's just too much!

I haven't been able to convince Debs to send me the ARC for the 3rd book yet... but I'm as stubborn AF! And when I do get my clingy little hands on that book, I'm willing to tell anyone what happens... IF they give me my very own dragon!

I predict that this series is going to become the Coming Out Bible of our generation. Remember to preorder!

I absolutely adore these characters and this series. It has such a sweet love story that makes my cold heart all gushy inside. The story picks up after Egan and Raiden have returned home and are preparing to go to battle with the 5th realm. The battle ends up being relatively short because Egan fears that Raiden has been hurt and killed and cannot control his dragon from coming forth. The surprise and distraction that this causes allows Raiden to kill the king of the 5th realm and along with the help of Egan's dragon it ends the battle but this also means that Egan's secret is now out in the open. It was so wonderful to see so many rally around him and support him, especially the king and the guards that had become his friends. They didn't treat Egan with fear or revulsion which is what he had been afraid of. Instead they stood in front of and then beside him to show the people that they did not need to be afraid of him. Egan later tells Raiden that there is a way for them to be bonded but that it's not something to enter into lightly because it is permanent and that it can only be done once. Raiden readily agrees to do the bonding because he knows how much he loves Egan and he wants that connection with him. The book ends on a cliffhanger and I feel like the bond that they now have will come into play and be important in the next book. I can't wait to read more about Raiden and Egan and see what happens next.

As a romance reader who tends to lean towards SUPER steamy, emotional romance, I have to admit I'm surprised by how much I enjoy the Dragon King series by Debbie McQueen. It's a clean, adorable MM, YA Fantasy Romance that is the best kind of addiction. Of Heart and Wings introduced us to Raiden and Egan, two of the sweetest men to begin a relationship. 𝔹𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕 𝕚𝕟 𝔽𝕚𝕣𝕖 took that relationship and built it into a timeless, soul-deep love that weaved itself through this thrilling tale of war and family.

Picking up immediately after OHAW, Egan and Raiden arrive home with the support they needed. In BIF, these two soulmates navigate the royal world, their developing feelings, and war looming on the horizon. With an amazing cast of side characters, a well-developed plot, and the most amazing romance between two perfectly imperfect men, I was legit swept away in this story. My heart soared every time theirs did. It is so enjoyable and refreshing to read such a genuine, true romance between two people. No outside drama, no hesitation, no self-doubt...just two people destined to be together.

Secrets are uncovered, feelings are heightened, bonds are strengthened, and loyalties are tested in this exciting second novel in the series.

And after that cliffhanger...We NEED that next book. So many questions need answered and my heart needs to mend. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorite YA series of all time.

This beautiful series continues on in this second installment, and honestly, I can't get enough of it. Perhaps why I devoured this book over just a couple days and well into the night.
The worldbuilding is so visceral, and the character development between Raiden and Egan, both in their relationship dynamic and with their families, is incredibly heartwarming. There's just nothing but love and acceptance, truly different from all other books centering on an LGBTQ+ romance.
Although the large battle between the realms did feel a bit short in the book, I do appreciate that this sticks to the theme of the series, which is largely just escapism. Rather than unending conflict and action-packed twists and turns that constantly knock down the main characters, this book focuses on just the joys of life, seeing the main characters fall more in love with each other in every chapter. It provides a nice break and a truly relaxing experience.
The only thing I don't like is that I have to wait for the next book! This series has captured my heart and bound me to it.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So obsessed with this fluffy dragon m/m romance!

Having a prince fall in love with a male peasant, who happens to be a dragon, is a dream come true, and I love this addition to the series! Egan and Raiden's love is so sweet and patient, I adore them.

I enjoyed the action in this series, and the army attacking scenes got really intense in a way I didn't expect but really enjoyed. The romance was great again, very PG but adorable in the best way.

READ THIS SERIES! This YA fantasy m/m dragon romance is a sweet, fun ride, highly recommend!

I absolutely LOVED Of Hearts and Wings, the first book in this marvelous new series. I found myself eagerly looking forward to reading the next book, and this fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, intense, intriguing, fascinating, amazing, enthralling, gritty, gripping, action packed, more twists and turns than a roller coaster, and totally awesome tale was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I would recommend getting both of these gems for yourself ASAP!

This is the second book in the series and it starts where the first one ended. I'm really enjoying the series. I like the characters and I like the world too. This book was mostly focused on the relationship between Raidwn and Egan. I liked the development, they very sweet together. There was a scene during the battle that really surprised me. The book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm going to start the next one right away. Also, I loved how the narrator voiced the characters.

By the stars, this series just keeps getting better!!!
* I highly recommend listening to this on audio. Talia Carver is absolutely amazing.
I absolutely love being in the world of the Sixth Realm, and in this book we delve deeper into the battle with the fifth, the strategies moving forward, and Raiden and Eagan’s beautiful love 💜.
Things are changing in the Sixth. The Fifth is coming, and they must be ready for battle. After asking the Third for their help, the Sixth is in a good place to win, but they’ll soon discover that the Fifth has some powerful and mysterious weapons that they must learn how to defeat. When an epic battle goes wrong for the Fifth, everything changes for Egan and Raiden.
The battle had me on the edge of my seat; I love these characters so much I don’t want any of them hurt! The sixth has a secret weapon their own, but it may not be such a secret anymore.
And…Raiden and Egan. These two will go down for me as one of my all-time favorite couples! They are so supportive and sweet with each other, and watching their young love grow is just stunning.
AND THE ENDING!!! WHAT?!?!
I cannot recommend this series highly enough, I laugh and cry and celebrate with them. Just beautiful!!!!!!

An absolute must read

I throughly enjoyed reading this second book of the Dragon King series by Debbie McQueen. Of course reading book one is an absolute must.
What I loved about this book is the Dragon Bonding Ritual in which both Raiden and Egan are bonded for life.
I am very much looking forward to the third book of this series.

THAT ENDING OMGGG I CANT

This was so great!! I love Egan and Raiden so so much. They are just so perfect for each other and I love all their little interactions. I also love how silly parts of the book are and some of the lines literally made me laugh out loud!

This one picks up right where it left off, we get to see the battle happen and all that fun stuff! This was a riveting read and I really enjoyed it.

One thing I really enjoy in this series is how lgbt relationships are handled. They’re seen as normal (which they are but you know what I mean) and there’s no big “coming out” or anything like that. Nobody is shocked that the prince is with a boy and I just think that’s a great vibe to have. ALSO there are no labels used in this series which is awesome!!

Okay I’m going to stop rambling now but I really love this series!!! 🐉

I was SO excited to read this book and get more of Raiden and Egan! And it did not disappoint! This book was filled with so much love, self discovery and self acceptance. It was absolutely lovely and my heart was so full of love reading about these two who were clearly fated to be together. There’s so much more I want to say but I don’t want to spoil anything of this book because reading it and experiencing it for the first time was awesome. A must read! Egan & Raiden are head over heels In love. Their relationship is official & approved by the King & family, they are now courting!
The kingdom is preparing for war with aid from the 3rd. The villain King Tarjak wants more territories and doesn’t care about who is in the way.
I love how the relationship between Egan & Raiden have evolve. They are now bounded and can feel each others feeling and can also talk to the other when Egan is in dragon’s form.
I like that there is no drama on their side, everything is so sweet.
Loved the second volume!

❤️🔥🐉 BOUND IN FIRE BY Debbie McQueen ❤️🔥🐉

5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

The mark of a good author for me, is someone who can submerge me in to an entirely new world, layered with history and culture, yet has me feeling I’m at home within the books pages.

Hogwarts.
Atlantia.
Blackwater Pack.
Lyra’s Oxford.

And now...
The Sixth Realm.

Being “born and bred” in England, I have always envied the Americans their patriotism.
The way strangers will thank soldiers in the streets for their service.
There’s a sense of belonging there, that I’ve only ever found personally in the world of fiction.

The sixth realm is preparing for war.
For invasion.
And they are stepping up to fight.

They’re fighting for a land that is not led not by political agenda, or by two powerful opposing parties; but by one man.
A true and honest man, who genuinely wants peace and prosperity for all his people.
Ideals which he is willing to defend, to uphold and protect.

King Rodick is Just.
He is as strong as he is benevolent. His wise words of wisdom are ones we all should live by.

Seeing the people of the sixth realm, from teens to the elderly; men and women of all walks of life, compelled to serve their leader out of admiration and respect is truly beautiful.

I really felt their pride in kneeling and pledging their skills. The fact they see it as an honour to fight for their king, for their realm and for one another.

Duty born out of love and loyalty as opposed to obligation or ego.
*Wait until you see how Egan features in this particular chapter: Raiden’s equal through and through it made me cry!*

Raiden and Egan go from tentative new relationship to falling hard and fast, they go from strength to strength and seeing their love bloom was nothing short of joyous!

What I really love about this book is that Raiden and Egan don’t experience any prejudice due to their relationship. It’s so refreshing to see an LGBTQ+ couple not have to experience hatred and homophobia. As a proud mama bear of an LGBTQ+ teen, I only hope my daughter could one day live in a world where who u love doesn’t matter .
And no one shows such unconditional love to our duo than the king and Egan’s mother.

I am utterly in love with King Rodick and cannot WAIT for the release of the novella showing the love story between Egan’s parents.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo book 2 is here and I never thought it was going to be possible to outdo the first one but guess what? It did and I absolutely loved it.

Bound in Fire picks up right where Of Heart And Wings left of. We're thrown into the war preparations against the Fifth Realm and King Tarjak to protect their people.

During the first half, there's always the sense of doom looming over all our heads. The sweetest thing amongst all thia turmoil, is the love between Raiden and Egan. It's such a wonderful balance and reading how their love and support for each grows. I definitely thought that this book was so much better because of the difficulties they have to overcome but the sweetness of the moments is off the charts.

These are the highlights for me; good and bad and meh.
- BAD: All the overwhelming tension (although I think that was more on my side).
- GOOD: The ENDEARING relationship between Egan and Raiden.
- MEH: The cliffhanger.

POV: Dual First Person
Standalone or Series: Book #2 in Dragon King Series

I just can't get enough of Egan and Raiden and this book continued on with the sweetness, humor, and love from the first book. I loved how this book expanded on their families (Egan's mother and Raiden's brother Kairn are two of my favorite characters) as well as went more into depth about the history of the dragons and the realms.
My favorite parts were the flirting, humor, and sweet moments shared between the boys. No spoilers but there was a scene where I literally could have jumped up and down with excitement and a feeling of triumph.
As the book goes on the relationship between Egan and Raiden deepened (loved this.) Near the end, I started racing ahead, reading as quickly as I could. I couldn't put the book down. And then the ending left me gasping. I don't think I will be alone in feeling desperate to read book number three in the series.

I'll end with a quote that also sums up the book ❤️❤️
"It was starving and mad, searing and blissful, needing and fearful."

I can't say how much I love the world and characters Debbie McQueen has created and I'm eager to read more!

Egan and Prince Raiden are still the amazing characters they were in the first book, but now everything is much more serious. War has come and their world is in dire peril. This is the examination of how love endures through the trials of war, the strength love can give under the most extreme circumstances and what decisions have to be made by a ruler in such a time. Can one still be true to one's ethics or do the means justify the ends when everything you hold dear is at stake? The world building is as satisfying as it was in the first book. I felt I was there and on the edge of my chair hoping things would turn out right. These two books in terms of their story arc in regards to Prince Raiden made me think of Prince Hal transforming into Henry V. Not that Raiden was the obnoxious playboy, but this is the story of how he grows into his role as a ruler and accepts all that implies in terms of choices and decisions. No spoilers from me, read the books and find out how things go. It will be well worth your time.

I loved Bound in Fire. This series is seriously making me love YA again, and that is total due to the connection between Prince Raiden and his love, the now Lord Egan. This picks up pretty much where the first book left off. After receiving help from the Third Realm, they’re back in the Sixth where the action ramps up with a war. Like straight out of the gate, these characters are facing something so serious. And honestly, it’s easy to forget that they’re both only 17. They are so well written that it makes you able to connect with them easily and feel the pain they’re in.
BUT, Raiden and Egan are just so cute! I love them. Truly, I just can’t put these books down because the relationship between these two just makes me want to keep reading! The sleep I’m losing on this series is real.

The end of this killed me though! The cliffhanger, it’s the kind that makes you need to start reading the next book immediately. Seriously, have the next book on hand, because you will be on the edge of your seat.

Yet again, Debbie McQueen did not disappoint. This one, I felt, was a bit more fast paced than the first, and we are now well and truly into the flow of this series. Honestly, with each passing chapter I am still getting more and more attached to these boys; I really love them and am craving all the fanart. Again, this is still the opposite of a slow burn and their relationship does move, arguably recklessly, quickly (romance-wise NOT sex-wise) and I understand that is not for everyone, but in this series I really don't see it as a problem. I am further impressed with the plot in this instalment, as in the first I was mostly infatuated with the characters, but now the plot has picked up so I am intrigued with both. I cannot say much in fear of being too detailed, and thus spoiler-y, but I must applaud you McQueen as you are doing brilliantly and I am so excited to carry on this series!!!

I love this series! I love the characters, the feels, the joy, the excitement, the cuddles, the suspense—although it may kill me to wait—and most of all, Egan and Raiden. They are the most adorably glowing and squishy couple. Really, I just want to squeeze them and never let go. “He was my family, my home, my love, my everything I wanted in this world.” Seeing their relationship deepen and grow was beautiful, moving and made me love them even more. They are truly destined to be together and make an incredible pair. So many events unfold, some amazing and others, well... Let’s just say Book 3 can’t get here too soon and I may need an infusion of oxygen from all the gasping I did while reading this one. A fantastic, thrilling adventure that has me wishing for a dragon of my own.

For god's sake! This story has left me shocked with its ending. Perhaps it was somewhat predictable where it was headed but that does not mean that you get excited about what happens.

I love Egan and Raiden, and they deserve all the good things in the world.

The turn that took place in the battle was interesting to me, although I honestly would have liked more development in it. I am not dismissing the wonderful work the author did, no. I have loved her work and I already want to read more about her.

I love fantasy and dragons, and this tender story has a place in my heart. And I really look forward to the third part of it so that I can continue to immerse myself in the story and what the author can give us in the future. You can't miss Egan and Raiden!

Bound in Fire is the second book in the Dragon King series and best enjoyed when read in order. For those who enjoy YA fantasy stories with a solid romance plot, this is a good story for you. Egan and Raiden take turns narrating, but it’s more Egan’s story this time, as he is going to experience the most character growth. The pacing was quick, with a great summary of the first book and moving right on to the challenges of this story.

I’m so charmed by this world and the adventure, I cannot wait to read on in the next story.

Must read

If the first book was good, this one was fantastic. Really, I've never thought myself a reader of dragons, but I can't get enough of this story. The pace was much faster, split with sweet moments and endearing passion. The desire for support of family and friends, and the ability to be ourselves while doing something great is in all of us, and I think this story delivers. My only hold up was that, as in the first one, sometimes it seemed like one character was speaking, but it was really a second character with the first one reacting in the same paragraph. It took some getting used to but I figured out the pattern and it didn't bother me after that. It obviously has not stopped me from reading a book in...hmmm one day, lol.

I really liked the first book in this series, but this one is even better. This is not a standalone, though. It's a continuing storyline so you have to read them in order. The biggest issue I had with the first book was the pacing - it was slow and even seemed to drag at times. That problem does not exist in this book. I think the underlying message of being authentic to yourself while also doing something great for others really resonated. Oh and the romance is much more developed in this book. Egan and Raiden are nothing short of adorable and I loved how the families were brought into the fold. The only thing I didn’t like was that this book has a bit of a cliffhanger so now I’m eagerly waiting for Book 3.

I received a free ebook from the author in exchange for a honest review!

This book was so adorable! This is the second in the Dragon King series, and we start the book off right where the first one ended, which is always a great start. We did end with a cliffhanger, but that only makes it more exciting to start the next book in the series! The contents of Bound in Fire were full of themes of acceptance and love, which is always amazing to read. You can feel the emotions pouring off of the pages. We also see our two main characters romance become stronger throughout the book, and the fluff was almost unbearable at times! There were a couple of grammar mistakes, but nothing that was glaringly obvious, and the story was so good, so my rating would be 4.5 stars rounded up! Such a cute m/m romance fantasy! Highly recommended!
