This was an amazing story of a strong powerful woman by the name of Violet Luna. She worked her way up into powerful positions in her job. A job that was prominently driven by men. She had an event to go to and she didn’t want to go alone, so she contacted an agency for a “Gentleman Escort”. Gabriel De Graff was a beautiful “ex-model” and did his job amazingly well. He was a true “gentleman” and said he would never have sex while he was on the clock. He doesn’t sell sex. He is just a companion. Well, thing change and life gets complicated. Emotions get involved and don’t get me wrong…sex happened, just not during the hours of when she hired him for.
This author did an amazing job at sucking you in and making you feel like you knew these people personally. She dragged you into their life, and you couldn’t put the book down until you knew what was happening next. I loved all the twist and turns in this story. How it made a woman “somewhat” in control of her life…emotionally and sexually. I do not believe I have ever read a book by this author before, but I will definitely read more. Love her writing style.
I'll admit right up front that this author hooked me with the whole gender-swapped take on Pretty Woman, which is still years later, one of my absolute favorite movies. While I didn't think this book quite lived up to that, I did find it very fun and I truly enjoyed it. The story kept me engaged and entertained and I liked the characters. Violet and Gabriel had really good chemistry and an obvious attraction. They were steamy, swoon worthy and gave me some major feels. This is my independent, impartial review.
This was a gender swapped Pretty Woman steamy romance. The characters were well developed and complex. The story was not what I expected but interesting nonetheless. The author's writing style is very formal and readers may need to look up definitions of several words. There is also a lot of technical jargon which can be confusing. I strongly believe there should be trigger warnings for some of the subject matter in this book.
Violet Luna is the Executive Director of Strategy & Innovation at Bacchus, a dating app, social networking and live experience company. She hires a male escort to accompany her to the company's annual retreat. She was emotionally, verbally and mentally abused by her ex-fiance and has serious issues which affect all aspects of her life.
Gabriel de Graaf is a professional photographer, former model & addict and male escort. He is gorgeous and cosmopolitan making him the perfect escort. He has a dark past that has trapped him into working as an escort.
Violet is more than attracted to Gabriel and becomes a regular client. They end up falling for each other and she has to make a deal with the devil to get him out of the male escort business.

This steamy reverse-gender take on the Pretty Woman story was hot! And it was not what I was expecting. There was so much more to Violet and Gabriel, and I adored these two very complex characters and what they ultimately found in one another.
Violet is at the top of her game professionally, but a horribly abusive relationship left her broken and damaged, and afraid of romantic entanglements. Gabriel is a former model and photographer with a dark past that, through a series of very unfortunate events, led him to become a male escort. Their paths cross when Violet hires Gabe for an industry event, and she ends up being a repeat client.
But there is so much more to their relationship than Gabe's duties as her escort. My heart broke for them both, and I loved how they raised each other up and healed all of the broken pieces.

A sizzling story with characters that jump off the pages, the reader will fall in love with Gabriel de Graaf and vicariously share Violet Luna’s experiences. Violet hires Gabriel as her "gentleman escort" for a company event which she cannot attend alone. We then see their relationship with contrasting fantasy and reality interwoven. Can she walk away from him when their “date” is over? Or does she have another role to play?
The story line is interesting, the characters well-depicted, and a touch of mystery will keep the reader invested.
Violet needs a companion to take to the company event. She is a powerful woman who is rising the ranks in a male dominated job and like is so often the case the image extends beyond what you do at the office. In order to not show up without a companion she decides to hire one. Gabriel is not for hire for more than just his time and presence. He is not selling more than that. As they spend time together their connection deepens and then things wind up getting complicated as they work to get him liberated from his job as escort so that they can be in relationship and move forward. This story was more complex than the blurb suggests with some darker undertones which makes it more compelling and interesting.

An entertaining read with humor, romance, steam and great characters. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a unique take on the gender swapped Pretty Woman romantic suspense. While I was hooked from the very beginning, I was disappointed it ended with a HFN instead of HEA. However, it's one book I would recommend not missing and a suspense surely to be considered a read again. I also wouldn't mind reading a follow-up book taking down or at least knocking down 'Michael' a few pegs while also showing where Vi & Gabriel end up five to ten years down the road. I personally plan to look for similar books from this author. Please note: recommend this book to those 18 and up and with a trigger warning to those sensitive to domestic violence. Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I also purchased the book/read with Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited opinion with my voluntary review.
An interesting story with a switch to the norm. I liked the characters - interesting and somewhat intriguing. I liked the scenes between them - thought provoking and entertaining. I requested a copy of this book and am voluntarily writing a review.
LB Alexander shows her breadth as an author with this enthralling rom-com. Forget the damsel in distress trite stories of yesteryear. This heroine is truly the hero and a compelling one at that. This is an absolute must read for anyone that enjoys a good rom-com with a heavy dose of fire to it.
Very well-written and super hot fantasy! Yes, I say fantasy because there cannot possibly be a man anything like Gabriel in the real world! You will be in love with him by the time you've finished the book.
The book is very well-written; the author has a fantastic vocabulary and knows how to use it. The characterizations are great; each person has their own distinct personality. Descriptions are evocative and the heat level is molten lava! If you are at all offended by hot, explicit sex, do not read this book.
The story was complex, with lots of things going on - all of it subtly woven together. And it works. A lot of the story had to do with what is real and what is fake. Violet hires Gabriel as a "gentleman escort" for a company event and then has trouble understanding whether some of the things he does are real or just part of the job. This is a bit of a theme in everything; each person has a part to play, real or otherwise; marketing puts a fake spin on things, etc.
Even without the scorching hot sex, the book would be pretty darn good. I liked the story and the mystery part too. You gradually find out the the history of Gabriel's life and how he came to be an escort. It was interesting to delve into Violet's history with Trey, her boyfriend and then fiancé for 4 years, who treated her poorly because he was an up and coming movie star and she was not the Hollywood beautiful type. I would have liked to find out how they got together in the first place - seems pretty unlikely, since he's such a jerk. But he was an actor so he probably could act his way into getting the relationship started.
Some of the story was a bit shocking, especially the *real* reason Gabriel is working for the escort service. Then finding out who was the "bad guy" was a surprise, but it worked.
Minor picky/personal issues: I did not like that Violet never complained about Sydney, the obnoxious, condescending bitch of a marketing director, who continually spoke to and about her as if Violet was a child. I wanted to punch her! "our little Violet"; "we’re letting her experiment with a few things as she gets her bearings”; and at a party, she goes on about how Violet must have spent hours and hours making herself look nice, as if that's the only way that it would be possible. She channels Miss Bingley from Pride and Prejudice (hahaha) and yet Violet ignores it for the most part, although Gabriel does throw out a few delicious set-downs. I also could have done with a bit less of the obsessive name-dropping of expensive brands, it seemed a bit overdone and to me was tiresome, but I guess the point was to show how they all lived in a rarified stratum of society where so much is fake; where people are only judged on the money they have.
I recommend this book!

This is the 2nd book I've read written by L.B. Alexander; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
Violet runs a sensational dating app but after her nasty breakup with her boyfriend she knows if she shows up at the company’s annual retreat alone it’s going to hurt her company’s reputation so she hires a handsome elite male escort; Gabriel to be her date.

Working Man puts a modern spin on Pretty Woman! Violet is in need of a companion for a business event. She is moving up in the ranks in a career field dominated by men. She doesn’t have time to date and get to know someone after a nasty break up.
Gabriel is an “escort” who is all about having fun. Gabriel has a dark past that has him holding himself back, but the more time Violet and Gabriel spend together, their connection grows deeper. Working Man is fun-filled, page turning, romantic comedy that I literally could not put down. The chemistry is smoking hot, and you will fall in love with Violet and Gabriel’s story.
L.B. Alexander hits it out of the ballpark with a sophisticated, sexy, romantic and intelligently written novel. Couldn't put this one down, as the characters captured me and kept my attention from start to finish. An excellent read, a real romantic ride xoxo!!!! This will make a great movie, coming to a theatre near you.....WOW!!!
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
This book was a bit steamier than I prefer, but I still give it 5 stars. I got caught up in Violet and Gabriel's story and the pages flew. The title Working Man refers to Gabriel's job. He is an escort. An extremely expensive and in demand escort. Violet Luna hires Gabriel Cas Augustijn de Graaf to be her date for the annual company (Bacchus dating app) retreat after ending things with her actor boyfriend Trey nearly six months ago. Her second "date" with Gabriel is attending a party for the screening of her step-sister's new movie. Things between Violet and Gabriel begin to get complicated when feelings become involved. Their story has surprises and secrets as it heads for a HEA. I found this book very entertaining.
