This is a beautifully illustrated picture book with slightly more text than usual. A little girl called Grace lives with her family by the sea. Her dad is a fisherman and he is due to be home in time to see her sing in a school play. Bad weather means his boat cannot reach the bay, the family goes to bed on Christmas eve not knowing if he will be back the next day. Grace asks her guardian angel to help and the angel goes to calm the storm.

This was a nice story, there is an angel book marker on a ribbon and the illustrations are pretty. There are quite a few similarities with The Mousehole Cat although this storyline does not compare to that one. Slightly confusing that the angel looks a lot like Grace and the angel that they have on their tree. It was a bit saccharine in places although I think a child might enjoy the story.

This is a lovely heart felt story about a little girl whose father is a fisherman. On Christmas Eve, Grace is anxiously waiting for her father to come home from the sea so he can attend the Nativity play she and her younger brother are performing in. However a storm blows in and the entire fleet is forced to remain out at sea. That night, afraid that her father wont be home for Christmas, Grace prays for help and that's when a guardian angel steps in.
The story is essentially about the power of hope and love and, let's face it, - what else is truly important - especially at Christmas.
Would highly recommend.

Ilustrācijas man rada asociācijas ar baznīcu svētgleznojumiem.
No visas sirds iesaku.

Grace and the Christmas Angel is a beautiful new Christmas book from bestselling author Lucinda Riley and her son Harry Whittaker. It’s a heartwarming story that celebrates the love of family and highlights the magic of miracles.

It’s Christmas Eve and everything is ready for the next morning. Grace and her little brother are getting ready to perform in a special Christmas Eve nativity at her school. She’s nervous because she will be singing a Christmas carol all on her own, but her mother reassures her that when she sees her daddy watching she will forget about everybody else watching.

Grace’s dad is the captain of a fishing boat, and unfortunately he can’t come home tonight because of a big storm out on the sea. Grace doesn’t want to put the angel on top of the Christmas tree without him, so she goes to sleep holding the angel.

Hope is the Christmas Angel and she hears Grace asking for help. She sets out to assist Grace’s dad and calms the sea so he and the other boats can sail home, and Grace is so happy to have her dad home for Christmas.

The book features beautiful illustrations by Jane Rey, there are a few double spreads that really bring the small seaside town to life. It’s a wonderful story to reignite a child’s belief that there’s a guardian angel looking out for them, and it makes a great book to share together with your children this Christmas. It also features a beautiful angel ribbon marker inside.
