Your best friend is getting married? What an amazing special occasion that is until it’s not.
Bianca’s a single mom to a young teenager with a very close best friend Nicole who’s been her best friend since college when they were roommates. We start off with learning some about each character and the lead up to the wedding.
Wedding bells are a ringing. Until the wedding turns into a crime scene during the reception. Where Nicole’s now husband Chad’s step father is murdered.
As the investigation progresses we meet Detective Simms in more detail and my is he sweet. Bianca can’t help herself but to try and help solve the murder because her best friend Nicole is so far the number 1 suspect. Due to this Bianca ends up being threatened over text, followed during a run in the park, and followed while driving not once but twice.
Detective Simms & Bianca are getting closer little by little while the investigation is going on due to Bianca not wanting to give up. Soon more and more people are being affected and Bianca just doesn’t seem to be having that.
All the while she is also trying to co-parent cross country with her ex-husband Malcom by setting up a summer stay with their daughter in California for the summer with his new wife Hope.
For me it would of had a better rating if some of the character development was better, and a few times it just really seemed like Bianca needed to just back the heck off trying to solve the murder. While I do understand where she was coming from due to what happened with her own dad, but a couple of times it just made things messy and I didn’t really care for that.

Bianca is a young single mom to a teenager who is growing up very quickly. Her mom is a matchmaker with a near perfect record who can't seem to stay out of her personal life. Her photography business is doing well, she's getting her life back on track, and then the unthinkable happens at her friends wedding, and is seems no one is safe from being considered a suspect. Can she help get this tangled mess sorted out? Or will she listen to the detective and stay out of it?
Recommended for fans of both cozy mysteries and rom-coms, this book strike an excellent balance between the two. Bianca has plenty of drama in both her personal life and the murder mystery she finds herself in the middle of. There seems to be something simmering between her and Detective Sims too, slow burn, but lots of promise.
This is the first book in a new series and the mystery takes a bit to start as there is a lot of world building drama in the beginning. Well written and engaging with plenty of humor. The speed dating scene was great! I liked how real the characters felt, the issues Bianca had to deal with regarding her daughter and her ex especially. Looking forward to more in this series.
It should have been a joyful occasion - her best friend's wedding, but instead, Bianca finds herself in the middle of a homicide!
Perhaps it's silly, but the incorrect use of "wonder" rather spoilt this read for me. Eyes wander, not wonder - at least, not in the sense that the author was using that phrase. A typo, you say - no, by chapter 6, the word was misused four times.
For the most part, I liked the story and the characters though there were times when descriptions seemed too detailed or unnecessary. I also had a hard time figuring out how Bianca and Nicole were roommates in college since Bianca married and had a child as soon as she graduated from high school. The timeline didn't seem to fit.
On the other hand - the mystery itself was interesting and the plot twists were intriguing. The police detective was a sympathetic character and I enjoy his appearances. I will continue with this series to see whether or not the author follows up on Bianca and Sims' mutual attraction - and how it helps or hinders future cases.
My first book by the author and her first cozy mystery. I enjoyed Bianca's family and the small town feel of the book. The mystery was a classic who dun it, but it wasn't easy for her to figure out what was going on. There were a few suspects and too many secrets to unravel. However, there are some secrets even best friends aren't privy to.
When an unpleasant guest is murdered at her best friend's wedding and it looks like the bride is on the hook with the police, Bianca decides to play amateur sleuths with the help of her sister and another friend. Things quickly spiral when she is threatened but Bianca won't stop until the murderer is caught.
It was a little repetitive as it relates to her divorce and struggle to move on with the attractive detective but I did find myself working through her clues to find the killer. A little editing is needed to correct for misplaced and missing words.
This was an enjoyable mystery for me. There’s a large suspect pool and plenty of twists and red herrings to lead the unwary reader astray. I can't say that I was surprised by the identity of the villain, because I was fairly certain I had zeroed in on the murderer not very far into the book. I then spent the rest of the read anxiously flipping pages and biting my nails to see how long it would take before it would be revealed if I was right. (PS: I was right.) One of the things I think this book does very well is in its diversity of characters. Being from the same small town, there is a uniformity in some aspects, but there are a wide range of ages and races depicted in this book, which I applaud. I think I'm starting to fall in love with these characters and I'm already looking forward to reading more about them.
Bianca was going to another wedding, except this time she got to be the photographer. For several chapters, the wedding is all anyone can talk about, which doesn’t stir much interest at first. Story carries a nice and easy narrative, but the pace is rather slow. In fact, we don’t discover a dead body until the end of chapter 5. This would’ve been better discovered a little sooner.
From that point on, we finally dive into “who dunnit” mode and start weeding out some suspects, once again piquing our curiosity.
Overall, this was a decent mystery once you get into it.

Book one in this cozy mystery series. Bianca Wallace was not originally planning on investigating the murder, until her best friend gets accused of it. I was shocked when the truth came to light. This was such an enjoyable read with some likeable characters, and some not so likeable. I also liked that there was a touch of romance in the story. I especially enjoyed the flow of the story, as well as the character development. I will be looking for more books from this author.

This is the first in the series and the first time reading this author. The main character is Bianca. Her best friend is getting married and at the wedding her future father-in-law is murdered and left in the limo. Seems the police think her friend did it but Bianca is sure she didn't. She starts to ask questions and almost gets killed more than once. The detective investigating the murder keeps telling her to stay out of it but she can't seem to do that. She thinks she almost has it figured out but is it too late for her ?
I'm going to leave this spoiler-free review for this book because I believe that the author shows a lot of promise. However, the constant problems with typos, sentence structure, timeline issues, overuse of physical description, plot holes etc, characterization issues-especially regarding the ex-husband- really ruined the book for me. I hope Ms. White sees this and fixes this issue in her subsequent books. As I said, her writing shows a lot of promise. But, unfortunately I can't continue the series.
I found this story enjoyable in general, although there were several places where editing would have improved the spelling, grammar or actual storyline. For example, an author should know the difference between to and too, and when to use them. Early on, I was somewhat confused to read that she walked, but drove. There was an element of immaturity to the story, but overall I enjoyed it.
A great start to a new series. A cozy mystery that pulls you in with suspense, intrigue and murder and keeps you glued to the pages as you try to solve the mystery before you reach the end. The characters are well developed, fun, and work well together to solve the mystery of who dun it. The twists and turns will keep you guessing and questioning yourself when you think you have it figured out.

I enjoyed this book. It creates the foundation for what has the potential to be a very entertaining series. Graphic designer Bianca is a divorcée, loving and caring mother to her teenage daughter, younger sister, and widowed mother. What should have been a joyous day of celebration, comes to a horrific halt when a corpse is discovered at a wedding. A cloud of suspicion hangs over the wedding guests, secrets are being revealed, and Bianca is being drawn into the mystery.
It could have been good but needs serious editing.
At one point,Bianca states she and Nicole were collage roommates. Later, she states she married Malcom straight out of high school and became a mother shortly after. Which is true? I doubt as a married mother of an infant, she would have lived in a college dormitory.
The protagonist is a young mother of a teenager. She believes in her best friend (the accused) even though they haven't been as close as they were in college. It wasn't difficult to figure out "whodunit" but, it was a cute story with a nice group of friends and a kind, sexy detective. I recommend this book.
Couldn't finish reading. There were so many grammatical errors that it made it hard to continue to read. It was also confusing while reading to figure out when the days changed and what time in the day it was. Overall from what I actually read (about 40% of the book) it was a good idea for the story line but not so good execution and definitely needs someone to go through and proof read
I thoroughly enjoyed this murder mystery; good to the end. It however needs editing - over 50 typos and errors. Check out LifeRegeneration9.wixsite.com for freelance you can afford. I did enjoy your mixed up families and relationships along with this traditional who dunnit. Keep writing!
Wow! This is definitely different than what Daria normally writes. The way the story unfolds, you aren't sure who the murderer is until the end. If you like cozy mysteries, you have to read this book You won't be disappointed.
Great plot. Good starting character potential, and believable character growth. Excellent eye for detail - you can easily picture the characters in your head. Great ending! Eagerly awaiting another Small Town Cozy Mystery!
It took me a while to get into this but once I did it was a fun mystery. The mystery is great and leaves you guessing through all the twists and turns. Bianca is a sweet character and fun to follow through the journey.
For me, missing words, timeline errors, and the need for better editing are the only things holding this story back from getting 4 stars. Even so, I loved the plot and the characters, and will look for the next book in the series.
Storyline was good. Grammar issues, typos, incomplete sentences, misplaced phrasing, wrong use of adjectives, etc really took away from the book. There were other inconsistencies as well.
I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and fun to read. I was able to guess the outcome easily, but I still really enjoyed the story. I really do want to continue reading this series.
Absolutely loved this book. Small town murder mystery with a hint of romance, funny and dramatic. Light and easy read. Read it on a 2.5 hour flight I had and enjoyed it immensly.
Missing words, wrong words used, forgotten things…
In other words, don’t waste your time with an author who doesn’t even have her book edited, or at the very least, proofread! I marked up over 30 things.
I really enjoyed reading about Bianca and her loyal pet sidekick. I can't wait to discover more about her and her budding relationship with Detective Sims.
New to me author and I hope to find more. Enjoyed this first book inner new series. Well written story with great characters. I look forward to reading book 2.
