Tomie dePaola and his work have been recognized with the Caldecott Honor Award, the Newbery Honor Award, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the New Hampshire Governor's Arts Award of Living Treasure.
As always, dePaola's whimsical illustrations make this book a delight to look at. The story itself is a bit lacking and a pair of kiddos that disobey get praised instead of learning from their choices. But as a whole, cute and creative.
Oh my goodness!!! I can't even express how much I loved this book when I was little! I always thought it was so magical... I honestly don't remember why, but it was just one of those books that I will now be going as asking my mother about and then making a trip to the library to check it out if we don't own it somewhere... I suggest you do the same, pick it up for your kids or grandkids.. whomever! They'll love it, they'll love any books by Tomie dePaola really, so pick up as many as you can find. :)
If your children are too young to sit through an entire reading of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," this sweet story will provide the same ingredients. Two adventuresome twins accompany their grandfather to the bubble factory where they see how bubbles are made. They slip away and fall into a bit of trouble... read on to see what happens! A cute story accompanied by detailed yet simple illustrations.
In this book two kids go to the bubble factory where there father works. Of course, they are supposed to stay out of trouble when left alone but they can't resist fiddling with the bubble machine. The machine begins to make what ever you think of. The kids really enjoyed thinking of what type of bubble they would like to create.
28 months - very much a short version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but with bubbles. O enjoyed the read but I wouldn't say it's the best book out there.
With a Willy Wonka feel, two mischievous children tour a bubble factory with their grandfather and end up making a serendipitous mess. Bubbles and ducks storytime
This book was not my favorite. It was a little slow, and did not really pull my attention in. I like the idea of the twins working with their grandfather but not the actual message. However, this book to be read around grandparents day in school to get students thinking about their grandparents.
