We live in a nation divided across political, racial, cultural, and even religious lines. Can the church regain a position of influence among young people seeking “truth” while rejecting God’s Word? What, if anything, will be able to bridge these profoundly personal and ideological positions? God’s Word is the best place to start! In this dynamic book, Ken Ham continues to shine an empowering light on the struggle of the church to retain young believers, and gives action points for both pastors and parents about how to make a stand for the soul of this generation. - Teaches how to effectively present the authoritative Word of God - Demonstrates clearly why arguments about neutrality are distractions, rather than solutions - Reveals how to find clarity amid the chaos of the culturally-conflicted church
Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.
He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.
From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."
In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.
This was an excellent book, and though it is a short read it is very powerful in its message! From a Biblical perspective we are one people from one family bloodline, "...of one blood all nations of men..." (Acts 17:26) While we are very dysfunctional, as a family, we are a family. But politics always plays a role in order to attain its own agenda. Therefore, it only makes sense that the politicians in power use all of our differences to force a wedge between all of the people of the world. We are smarter than to fall for such things, but we allow ourselves to be divided by political, racial, heritage, cultural, and even religious lines, or even by one specific issue that sits before us all. This book, as will all of Ken Ham's writings are well worth it to read and learn from.
Excellent summarization of the foundational differences between what the Bible teaches versus how a world in rebellion to God operates. Can't understand how the world today has gone so far astray with ever more complex problems? Read this book. Afterward, you'll want to visit the world-class Creation Museum (an AIG outreach close to Cincinnati, OH) or the lifesize replica of Noah's Ark--both in Kentucky--to get far more on all the topics tackled in the book but with awesome displays and amazing visuals. Highly recommend.
If you've ever heard Mr. Ham speak, you've likely heard much of this material already. However, this is a quick and easy read that even a middle schooler could understand. It teaches the importance of having a biblical worldview. Genesis 1-11 is the foundation of that worldview, and most of the big questions in our culture today can be answered by referring to Genesis 1-11.
This was yet another great book from Ken Ham and AIG. I love how he is always so faithful to give a wonderful gospel presentation and to gently but firmly encourage pastors and parents to raise up the next generation with a solid biblical foundation so that they can defend their faith against the attacks of numerous conflicting worldviews.
A good expose on why the younger generation is leaving the church and a challenge to church leaders to correct the problem. We need to be giving our children a solid Biblical foundation, based on Genesis 1-11, so they can stand when the wicked world comes calling them.
Answers in Genesis and Ken Hamilton are by far one of the best things to happen! That ministry is helping millions to understand God's Word honestly and completely. This small book takes you through a basic understanding of Christian apologetics as relates to a Biblical understanding of Genesis. It is clear and concise in its writing. The only negative is that it is quite small and you may want more! And that is when you go read one of his other works! This is a great beginning point resource to have.
This is a quick read for parents, teachers and pastors who stand on the authority of God’s Word in the Bible. It is a brief overview of why Creation Evangelism is necessary if we wish to reach the next generations with the gospel. Those who have been born into our increasingly secularized culture need to know that “Christ is Lord and Redeemer because He is first of all Creator and Sustainer who is bringing all things to their appointed end by the reconciliation of all things to God. This is a work that will be complete when the last enemy-death- is defeated.” I’m thankful for and have enjoyed both the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter and many of the books and resources offered by the Answers in Genesis ministry.
Another good book written by Ken Ham. He tackles the need to develop a Christian worldview based upon the authority of Genesis 1-11. It was a concise booklet but a charge and challenge to the church to not simply address the symptoms that lie at the issues of our culture but rather drill down to the foundational/worldview issues.
Gives an honest, thorough foundation for what you need in order to help from being confused by all the divisions in the world. While not everything was theologically correct, most everything was. Again it really drove home what is important to defend the faith nowadays, in a very suffice and sufficient way.
This book had a lot of really good points to make and some of the things I could see happening through my friends. It’s directed towards an adult audience seeing it speaks to pastors and parents but I think it’s quite important that everyone should know that if you do not get the foundation right it will not be correct. He truly made me realize that correct way to address these problems and I feel like this is something we need to address more in the church and in families. We need to get this foundation right and teach it correctly to children, a kingdom divided cannot stand. And that’s how we will see a generation with the least amount of people in the church come to God.
Absolute atrocity of a book. This is a shining example of fascist propaganda, but under the guise of Christianity. This book preaches nothing but hate, superiority complexes, and even included eugenicist ideas (if you are not familiar with fascism and eugenics, please read up on the Holocaust). Jesus gave us a message of unconditional love and acceptance. It is disappointing that these Pharisees and wolves in sheeps clothing are corrupting our church and our minds to fulfill their own hateful political agenda.
I generally agree with the ideas in this book, but the execution was disappointing. This was constructed from a series of lectures Ken Ham gives, and the book followed the structure of those lectures rather than reformatting them to work as a book. This leads to awkwardly squeezed in asides, assertions and statistics presented without sourcing, and lots of self-promotion for Answers in Genesis. I’m also disappointed at how this book was presented as speaking to political division but ended up really not addressing that at all beyond a couple anecdotes about lgbt identity
This is a wonderfully written, easy to digest book explaining how to share our faith by first understanding our biblical foundation as laid out in Genesis 1-11. Until we take ourselves and others to that place of wisdom we cannot do battle effectively with the worldview. I have been a believer for over 50 years and this truly opened my eyes of understanding!
A wake up call to the church on how secular education is affecting the next generation. This book reminds us to use God’s word as the foundation when teaching our children to help ground them in their faith. Grounding them in truth will help them to see through the lies of our culture! Excellent read!
Ken Ham has produced another great resource in Divided Nation. I have a lot of highlights for reflection. Thankful for someone who is willing to stand up for Biblical truth in a anti God, anti Bible, anti Christian culture.
An informative and eye-opening read, 'Divided Nation' correctly but solemnly identifies why the Western world — and the Church — is becoming more secular every day. This book is simple to read yet profound in it's message. 'Divided Nation' is definitely worth the room on your TBR.
I wish I had read this book while I was raising my kids. I do believe that genesis 1-11 is the key to all my belief now. Great ground work teaching new Christians.
Strong faith based topics that can definitely divide, but if you have a conviction for this upbringing, the book will give you pause to think and come together.
The book was ok. Simplistic and seemingly a written version of a brief presentation or presentation series. This would likely help explain the large amounts of repetition throughout the book. If the content interested you, there are other authors who cover it more in-depth.
Watch my full review at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d6Wm... The premise of the book is that our society’s claim to support a neutral science-based view of the world is a lie. They claim not to be influenced by their faith and worldviews. There is no harm for Christian young people to learn evolutionary theory because the evolutionary worldview is just a natural result of following the facts. This neutral view of science is a lie.
There is no such thing as unbiased science.
Our culture and society at large through our governmental school and media and news agency is pushing a worldview and agenda. Trust the science or follow the science as our society calls for is not to trust in the scientific process. It is to trust in the results that they have decided upon based on their, at time legitimate means if scientific inquiry and at times very illegitimate means.
Trust the science is to blindly follow a worldview where gender is whatever you want it to be regardless of what someone’s scientific DNA may be. A baby in her mother’s womb is not a baby. People can find their value and importance in their skin color. 100 years ago it was sinful to be black and all the Christians were white, now it is bad to be white and good to be black.
If you are familiar with Ham’s writings and teachings, this is ground he has covered again and again, but this makes it no less important and with the way our nation is heading, we need men like Ken Ham to double down on their emphasis on the historical reality of Genesis 1-11 instead of moving on to other topics.
It’s hard not to recommend this book simply because it is so short. Anyone should be able to fly through it and receive a needed refresher on where to stand in the divisions of America – we must build our salvation for eternity on the rock of Christ and build our understanding of race, gender, sin, the family, and more on the rock of Genesis 1-11.
So I encourage you to pick up a copy of Ken Ham’s latest Book – Divided Nation.
Straight and to the point! A book that many need to read! Ken Ham lays out where our church and faith in God is being attacked! Our foundation makes all the difference! He shares common questions and how we’re being attacked. We need to be able to defend our faith and if we don’t have a right foundation we will crumble when we’re attacked. He shares how Genesis 1-11 is the foundation of Scripture and how every Christian needs to be a student of apologetics. Let’s be more bold and stand firm in our faith in an ever more anti-God world.
His (5) claims in this helpful book follow: 1) There is no neutral ground; 2) There is no non-religious position; 3) There are ultimately only two religions--two foundations for our worldview (God's Word/the Bible or man's word); 4) General Bible and creation apologetics; and 5) How to think foundationally to develop a truly Christian worldview.
Throughout the book, he develops and expands upon each theme via evidence from experience, history, and Scripture.
I think I actually heard Ken Ham give this talk at the Creation Museum in June while my family was visiting, plus I just read a few other AiG books back-to-back, so there wasn't anything really new for me here. However, this book is a good reminder that worldview foundations are why we have such a cultural/political divide today. We can respectfully tell others that we base our views on what the Bible says, and because of that, we won't be able to agree on those hot button issues. It isn't hateful, it's just that we have different presuppositions, so of course we don't see eye-to-eye!
