Welcome to the guesthouse on the Green, where Mammy and her girls will make you feel part of the family. Settle in and enjoy your stay at O'Mara's, where stories abound, romance lurks and laughter sounds.

Moira O’Mara. She’s been struggling with the loss of her beloved dad, but now she’s met someone special, and she’s hoping he’ll help heal her broken heart. There’s only one problem... he has to be her secret.

The O’Mara family doesn’t do secrets though and they’re determined to find out who Moira’s mystery man is. Moira knows she should be able to shout about her new love from the rooftops, and the reasons why she can’t have her feeling like she’s spinning out of control.

Tessa Delaney's booked into the guesthouse to attend a school reunion. She left Dublin as a teenager and her memories of school aren't happy ones. What's she hoping to achieve by going to the reunion? And is going back ever a good idea?

Moira and Tessa have more in common than they know and their secrets will be shared over a meal of traditional Irish fodder at Quinn's bistro, but will they realise that sometimes in order to heal you have to look within?

Fun but frustrating read

These are cute, quirky books - easy day read. But BOY do they need editing! So many typos that for this voracious reader it was very distracting. I thought maybe it was just the first book that had issues but this second one was worse AND the closer to the end the more misspelled, incorrect words (i.e. though instead of through) and propositional phrases that had words out of order there were! Honestly the last few chapters (and first chapter of the 3rd one) read like first drafts!
Spell check and grammar check are NOT real editing. Pay for an editor then maybe I'll see how the trip to Vietnam in book 3 goes.

Moira Lisa Smiles: The Guesthouse on the Green Book 2 is by Michelle Vernal. This captivating book is much more predictable than book one. You can pretty well see what is coming next in this book which makes it a little less engaging. However, it is still fun to read and what the girls get into makes it funnier.
Moira is the youngest of the four children of the O’Mara family and she lived at home in the hotel with her sister Aishling. She worked for a solicitor’s office. Although it isn’t what she intends to be doing all her life. This is just temporary until she figures herself out. She and her friend Andrea are crushing on two of their fellow workers. Now to get their attention. The perfect event is coming up.
Moira fell for Michael the first time she saw him. He was gorgeous and his eyes couldn’t leave her. The fact that he was married didn’t slow her down, now that was a trashy deed. She believed Michael when he told her that they were staying together only for the girls and as soon as they were old enough, he knew what it was like to live with divorced parents and didn’t’ want his girls to have to go through that. He and his wife were just good friends. Moira was set to believe this. None of the other girls were.
Tessa was staying at the inn. She had come back from New Zealand to attend a reunion. It wasn’t because she had left at graduation because she had left before that. She was coming back because three of the girls had made her life miserable and she wanted them to know that she had made it in spite of them. Would she be able to do it?
Meanwhile, Moira and Aisling’s mother calls to inform them that she was taking a little trip to Vietnam. Moira is very upset at her Mother and at her sisters for not stopping her.

The book is quick to read and is not quite as good as the first one.

I was somewhat irritated by the main character, Moira. She has made several very bad choices. We do see that her father's death has affected her greatly. Her older sister, Aisling, has taken over the running of the family guesthouse in Dublin, since their mother has become a free spirit after the father's death, moving into a condo in an active senior development and taking up sailing and golf. (Aisling was the subject of Book 1). Moira seems spoiled, is messy and gets drunk a LOT. She has her heart set on a man at the law office where she works who is married, and playing up to her. Red lights flashing!!!! By the end of the book I did see some insight growing in Moira, who has been drafted into a trip to Vietnam with her mother for a month. She sees it as her punishment. No alcohol to soften the blow, either. The next book is the Vietnam trip and I just ordered it.

The second novel in this charming series switches the focus from Aisling to Moira and is just as enjoyable as the first. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and discovering more about the O'Mara family and Foxy Loxy. Reminiscent of Maeve Binchy but with a modern twist and an added touch of Irish vernacular.

I love this series!

Some things about Tess's younger days in Dublin made me very sad..maybe events we can all relate to in some way..but again as with the first book this family of women are there for friends and more importantly, each other. I am on to the next in the series..must find out about this Vietnam trip.

More Lisa Smile

Very light women's tale in Dublin of a family who owns a Guest House. Their Dad just died and were shown three different ways they have chosen to deal with their loss. There are chuckles and tears in this Irish tale. A fun read!

Good sequel.

Easy transition from book 1. Characters evolving. The romance between Ashling and Quinn is a nice development. Moira chosing to end the relationship with Michael is a good thing.

Lackluster & predictable on many levels - I enjoy the concept of the O’ Mara family series but further character & storyline need development beyond the standard boy girl character cheater etc . I’m going to read 1 more to see if the author develops the series .

Very enjoyable read.

Nice story about the youngest O,Mara sister, Moira. She hasn't got over the death of her father, and has been teetering on the edge of an affair with a married man. Drinking too much hasn't helped , so her family have to step in!

Why is Moira Lisa O'Mara so careless and impulsive? She will tell you many times, but will you listen?
