This book is absolute garbage. The takeaway is, “You, too, can own a 50-foot yacht on the Mediterranean! All you have to do is have gratitude.” Seriously, the author believes completing a 5-minute gratitude exercise leads not just to happiness and contentment, but WEALTH. Complete insanity.

I actually listened to this book and thought it was really helpful. It would be worth reading 1x a month and sharing with others. If you listen to the book, you don’t have the gratitude journal that goes with it, but anyone can do the exercises, as the narrator walks the reader through each.
I really love the ideas of writing letters to those who have impacted my life the lost, like my high school English teacher, my parents, and friends from overseas.
Also love the idea of 3 things I’m thankful for each day, and then big picture bigger praises. I need these lists on my walls, mirror, in my car. Everywhere.
I enjoy this author’s books and look forward to the next one on loving myself.

You’ll be grateful for reading this

7 simple exercises 7 simple actions with the power to change you. Such a simple formula that you simply should not ignore if you want to change your life. A key outcome is that you will just feel better about yourself. It’s a small investment of your time and effort with an infinite return.

Let me start by saying that I have nothing against positive psychology when it’s not interfering with health in an “unhealthy way” (ex.: thinking positive is ok unless you start to “heal” cancer with only positive thinking). So there’s always some sort of a limit to all that.

I do not believe that people who have a lot of money and success got it just by being grateful, however it’s a whole other topic to discuss.

This…book (?) is basically telling that: Give the gratitude 6 weeks and it will change your life. BUT! There’s always a nice “but”: if the life hasn’t changed - just keep going. Or it’s because you still “did not forgive” people that you should forgive (like…everyone, just forgive everyone).

This is an amazing example of “no responsibility for the actions”: you say it is working and when it doesn’t - it is simply the problem of that said person who’s trying to make it work. Easy peasy.

So yeah, sorry I’m all over the place with this review, the point is: the main idea of this thing is to be grateful for literally everything and forgive literally everyone. And then you will live happily ever after. And if you don’t - that’s on you but thanks for buying/renting the book and continuing to make the author live gratefully happy so he can continue saying that gratitude brought him the success and money and yacht and whatever else he was telling that he has.

P.s. gave it 2 stars because I have nothing against gratitude and practicing it but the book was insanely repetitive and far too long for what it is. And I was not a big fan of a money concept as a result of gratitude, made me feel icky for the author (always mentioning his wealth and success was unnecessary for me).

Nothing New Here

This is a short book with basic wording and the simple exercises the book is based on are not revolutionary. If you’re a reader of such material you already know what to do. I could possibly recommend if you are starting your journey toward a better “you” but the editing in this book is horrendous! There are disjointed sentences and edits without the original text being removed as well as a few instances of repeated phrases within the same sentence. Sometimes how something is read - or said - makes all the difference in perceived quality. The content in this book is not the problem; the lack of flow experienced while reading is. Thus, I have deducted 1.5 stars from my rating.

I listened to this book on audio. If you do this, be sure to take the time to pause and complete the writing assignments.
This book is short and to the point. The author strips gratitude down to the easiest level and sets a program that truly ANY person can follow. I highly recommend taking the brief amount of time needed to read through this gem and implement the activities into your daily life. Also, be sure to read the end notes. The author gives his contact information in order to contact him directly and request resources. I received a response within minutes.

No.
An ok reminder to practice gratitude-
*if* you have gone through the hard work of dealing with trauma already ... or for someone who hasn’t experienced anything difficult themselves ...but way too ‘it’s so easy’ to be taken seriously.
Don’t tell me you are writing this on a boat and then tack on a ‘tell your friends to buy my book’🙄
unless maybe you’ve actually produced a well researched and well edited book. “Someone once said” does not suffice for crediting a quote- give credit to the quote you use.

This is a short 2 hour audio. I enjoyed this book.
Every book on happiness basically comes down to being grateful. Being grateful IS more powerful than most people would believe. Years ago I heard someone talk about this, and that we should think of three things we are grateful for before going to sleep. I've been doing that since then, but I really liked that this book explains WHY being grateful can change your life, why it's more beneficial to write things down, and what other questions you can ask yourself everyday (ie: in the gratitude journal he provides).

A few great ideas that could've been a pamphlet instead of this overly-repetitive, simple diatribe. The "advice" is way more fluffy than solid. Zero tips for really starting the gratitude thought process and actual steps-just same-old same-old "start a journal!" "Write down all you're grateful for!" Most of us not doing this know it's a thing-I mean, let's face it, a DuckDuckGo or google of "gratitude journal" will bring up thousands of books and tens of thousands of random blogs and podcasts. No eye-openers here, just a perky lecture.

Great read!

It inspires you to think on a constructively positive level. Gratitude is presented as almost an energetic force that delivers personal healing, brighter perspective, and clearer focus. Above all, it is to be seen as a lifestyle choice. I say buy this book as an investment in a more fulfilling future you. If you practice gratitude in your life, you will be adding color to what before was black and white.

A useful little book to remind you to be grateful.

There are lots of negative reviews and opinions of the book and to be fair I agree. There is only 60 pages of generic content and the rest if a 90 day very plain gratitude journal. There aren't even any interesting quotes or pretty illustrations.

So if you need reminding of what opportunities there are in life to be grateful for it's a kind of cool little book, but sadly for me it was over priced and lacked any substance.

I found this book in a "free box" , and wanted to read it as a follow-up to Dale Carnegie's classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People", and it certainly serves that role magnificently well.

Unfortunately, I was only able to read about half the book before I lost it on a recent kayaking trip :(

Despite only having read half of it, I still gained a lot of powerful concepts and will be buying this book again to finish.

Excellent book

I love this book because it's easy to understand the day's reasoning behind the idea. It's common sense that almost nobody applies. It's so comforting and positive that my only complaint is that it was too short. I felt so peaceful reading it that I didn't want to finish it.

I can’t say I learned anything new, but a great reminder of the power of gratitude. I practice it daily and do write in a journal. He gives great tips for extending my gratitude practices. He is very repetitive, but that’s ok. He is underscoring the importance of certain habits. Highly recommend.

It's a quick read. The exercises are easy and simple. I look forward to trying them out. Many a time in the book he says things are scientifically proven I wish there was some citations to back these claims. Very repetitive but not in a bad way

"Gratitude makes sense of our past."

You can't be grateful and be angry for something. When you are so happy with where you are, the universe detects this and gives more happiness. The reverse also true.

Good little book. A bit self help mumbo jumbo but that’s to be expected and we all should be more thankful and this will make us happier for sure. So much of self growth is pushing for the unobtained if we aren’t careful we can become ungrateful of the obtained!

Thanks for the advice!

A nice, short self-help book that was an easy read. Did it tell me anything new? No. But it was bursting with positivity and there's always room in your life for a little more 'yay' and a lot less 'nay'. Thanks Marc😊

In this pamplet the author bragged about how after losing his job, he practiced gratitude and after doing so he achieves rags to riches success using the principles practiced in his book. Hmm....Read the book and see for your self.

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the author is repetitive. This book could have been 30% smaller and gotten the same points across. Good stuff but too much repetition.
