Et cette fois le mentor est une créature mythique qui fascine : un dragon.
De leur rencontre inattendue au moment où ils vont apprendre à vivre ensemble, on est touché par leur relation et le lien qui se crée entre eux.
Au-delà de l'aventure qu'ils vont vivre ensemble, l'autrice introduit des thèmes bien plus profonds comme l'acception de l'autre et le respect de la nature. Il y a un souffle écologique évident dans le récit avec la forêt où est abandonnée la jeune Eve qui sert de décharge publique. Les dessins sont sublimes, des traits très expressifs des humains au superbe design des créatures et bien sûr du dragon.

Why is no one talking about this new release?!
IT IS SO GOOD!!
Granted, if it hadn't been for a very good friend, this title also would have slipped under my radar too, but thankfully she shared about it and even said that it had similar Rozi in the Labyrinth vibes (which I LOVED!)! Once she said that I knew it was something I needed to immediately check out! Thankfully, I was able to go to the bookstore the next day and they had in it stock!
I was definitely hooked on this story from the first few pages! It literally was already tugging on all my heartstrings and that didn't let up the entire volume!
If you were to ask me who my favorite character was, I would definitely say Yule (BUT WHAT IS THAT ENDING?!?! :O :O :O :O) because even though he's definitely the crafty type, he is SO fun to have on page! He really brings out the best in Eve and Snoozy in that Eve grows in her magic and Snoozy grows even more fatherly towards Eve. Don't get me wrong though! He's been a father-like figure to Eve from the beginning! But the more adventures they go on, the closer they grow and I am 100% here for it because it is so beautiful and is one of my favorite parts of this volume!
However, I DEEPLY love Eve and Snoozy too! The humor they have in their relationship makes me laugh out loud more than once but also has me making sure I have a tissue nearby. It's truly an absolute joy to read about both of them in how protective they are of one another and care for each other. As Eve tells Snoozy, I too still want them to spend plenty of time together because this is going to be a favorite fantasy series for me (especially since this is rivaling my favorite read of this month!). <3
The artwork was AMAZING! Lots of attention to detail and LOVED how at the end, the mangaka showed us the initial character sketches! What a fun bonus to this story!!
The only thing I'll mention is that while the fantasy in this story didn't bother me, it does have a summoning and the mention of an incantation.
Overall though, I definitely LOVED this first volume so much! It's a very heartwarming and fun story with truly an unexpected friendship/relationship that outside of the final page, leaves you feeling all the warm fuzzies and wanting to read more of this beautiful story.

A young child is abandoned in a forest where things go to die. Including a very old dragon, who spends the last of its days caring for and about his new charge. But if there’s a lesson here, it’s be careful of caring for something that’s oozing hidden power. And maybe don’t let a five year old name anything.
One of my big ‘yes, please’ plot points for any manga or any story in general is the bag of misfits who come together to form a ramshackle family and learn, or at least attempt, to care for one another. Ask and ye shall receive, says this story.
This is, in fact, one of the weirder ones I’ve come across recently, featuring a dragon who is really, really not long for the world and Eve, his newfound pint-sized powerhouse who plummets into his life and spends her initial moments both capturing his fancy and trying to throw up his blood (it’s a long story).
Eve is almost annoyingly precocious, but the almost is the key factor there because her relationship with her new father and her general art style make her too charming to grate on the nerves much. This wee girl is just pure sweetness from start to finish. Okay, probably a bunch of hungry too.
Watching her monkey around, somewhat literally, and just generally discover that she’s probably packing more magic power than a swarm of Sailor Scouts makes for a surprisingly enjoyable time.
Part of it is the combined heavy lifting of the dialogue and art, which make this come together a lot better than you’d think. Good banter is a bit of a rarity in manga, honestly, and there’s a lot of snappy back-and-forth between Eve’s father (helpfully [mis]guided by a parenting book that also ended up in the forest) and Eve, who is straightforward and innocent and very ‘why can’t I do it this way?’ like a lot of kids.
Once they make their way to civilization, all other sorts of adventure awaits and we add a very shady innkeeper named Yule to the mix, who clearly has something else going on, but also clearly has all sorts of other things going on. Yule is frequently working side hustles in his side hustles and, while I wasn’t sold on him at first, the story just keeps going with his scheming until he becomes fairly entertaining.
What this story does well is balance the painfully funny (Eve and her dad have Yule’s inn pegged dead to rights within five seconds of seeing it, for example) with the emotional beats. Questions of Eve’s legitimate parentage aside, the bond between these two is absolutely delightful, even if some lessons are far more mercenary than others.
When some other, more blood-related offspring inject themselves into the story, what looks like a tale of revenge turns into something unexpectedly poignant and the way that storyline closes out, especially with Eve’s actions, is likely enough to move the hardest of hearts.
And that’s the careful work this manga’s doing: making sure it never veers too far one way or the other. Too silly and you’d never take any of it seriously as a dramatic narrative, but too serious and you’d make it far too dour. This reminds me a lot of Tales of the Outcasts, without going full shonen, and that’s some good company to keep.
Yeah, if you break this down to its essentials, this is yet another ‘overpowered kid wreaks havoc’ story, but with said kid being ten years old and having a raft of brilliant expressions and a dragon dad, it definitely exceeds the limits of its genre.
This is just an incredibly cozy story with enough good bits to really make it shine and I just loved it from beginning to end. Equal parts heart and hilarity, it takes a premise we’ve seen many times over and really does something new with it.
4.5 stars - oh, I just don’t feel like rounding down, I had too much pure fun with this. This crew is a mighty good time and I can’t recommend it enough if it sounds at all interesting.

So underrated at the moment. If you’re looking for a light hearted and cozy manga to read, this is it. It’s actually pretty funny as well. I can’t wait to read the second one! Oh, and some of the most incredible art I’ve ever seen!

Ohhh! Un nouveau coup de coeur! Quelle belle série à découvrir! Elle était passée inaperçue: j'ai acheté les quatre premiers tomes d'un coup et quel plaisir de les lire! C'est absolument charmant, émouvant! On y raconte l'histoire de la petite Ève, enfant de 5 ans jetée dans la forêt des déchets où elle tombe sur un dragon en fin de vie. Lorsqu'il s'éteint, elle le retrouve comme fantôme protecteur et part en quête des autres dragons pour créer des liens.
Les dessins sont bien maîtrisés, les dragons sont fabuleux, impressionnants (leur colère est redoutable), mais aussi adorables (quand ils sont calmes). Il y a une légère touche d'ombre à ce récit, juste suffisamment pour accentuer l'aventure (sans vraiment faire peur), et beaucoup de lumières à travers le parcours de la petite Ève.
C'est une lecture qui convient à tous les âges, mais tout amoureux de dragons, d'elfes, de nains, d'histoires de magie lira cette aventure avec beaucoup de plaisir.

pretty freaking adorable. great exploration of familial bonds...both by blood and through found family. eve and 'snoozy' are so sweet together, and the story of the former witch bell and the baby dragon was heartfelt and bittersweet. the humor here is dry, which works well with the story and isn't overdone.

Absolutely adorable little adventure. It’s got a lot of the same vibes as Girl from the Other Side (without all the sadness and underlying misery). And the relationship between Eve and Snoozy is extremely heartwarming. Excited to see where the series goes, and hope that Yule fella turns good in the end.

I really enjoyed this chibi witch tale. It takes an age old trope and transforms it into a fresh perspective —Eve casts out of the Garden of Paradise. I was looking for something quick to read as I have not had much time to focus on reading. Great read if you’re looking to finish in 2 to 3 hours at a leisure pace. If you’re a speed reader, maybe even under less than an hour.

I adore this story so far. It's fun and lighthearted, with a couple emotional moments here and there. All of the characters are great so far, and I'm really excited to see how much more powerful Eve will become.

The art is incredible and the plot moved along just fine. And then what do you know, here I am, crying, over a dragon. Surprisingly emotional and sweet. I will definitely be picking up the next volume.
