I’m glad I tried more books by Hurst, since I was skeptical after reading one I didn’t like. I’ve seen so many great reviews for his books though, so I tried this one and I am happy I did. The back and forth between the POVs worked brilliantly, and there was an intensity there that kept me invested. And the ending: Just wow!!

This author is one of my favourites and I have never read a bad book by him
That being said this one probably had my eyebrows raised at some of the plot and circumstances but it was a grand psychological thriller none the less that took an unexpected ( although by now it shouldn’t be a surprise what happens in his books ) turn and completely changed the dynamics of the whole story
He is a master of story telling and turning a normal day for his characters into the worst/best day of their life is his speciality

Another fab stand alone psychological thriller from daniel hurst who is fast becoming one of my top 5 favourite authors. This book shows us how lies are rarely kept a secret and how far people will go when they are hurt or betrayed.
Laura and Adam are married and she’s heavily pregnant with their first child, after a night out with work Adam comes home and tells her he has been involved in a hit and run and they must run away.

"Run Away With Me" is not the Daniel Hurst book that I would want to run away with.

Yes, it was not my favorite Daniel Hurst book.

I did, however, enjoy the book's fast pace, tight prose, unlikeable protagonists (my favorite kind!), intricately woven plotline, and the author's signature twists and turns.

The book's first six chapters were slow (for a Daniel Hurst book!) and it was the laudatory GR reviews that prevented me from abandoning the book at Chapter 6.

I listened to the audiobook read by both a male and female narrator.

The male narrator was much better than the female narrator.

The female narrator read the majority of the book (including the first six chapters) and the female narrator's irritating voice prevented me from giving this book a high rating.

I am still a huge Daniel Hurst fan and I will be looking forward to listening to the author's future titles.

Not great.

This book started off so well... I felt sorry for Laura who was obviously being controlled by Adam into going on the run despite her not wanting to.
Then, it all got a bit ridiculous. The character of Gemma is just plain silly. The story becomes farfetched and unrealistic, and the style of writing almost childish. I almost gave up on this book several times but kept going until the rushed and ridiculous ending.
I wouldn't recommend this book.

Runaway With Me is one dark, twisty thriller. CONNIVING comes to mind with this book!!! Daniel Hurst had me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. He just continues to amaze me at all of the plots that he can come up with, and he can write so fast. I can’t wait to dig into the next one as I have another one on audio already on hold and that will be my next one. Five stars from me.

Daniel Hurst books are easy reads and sometimes they are just what I need. This one was pretty predictable, but had a satisfying end.

Beginning with a simple premise, Run Away With Me became a riveting story of revenge and retribution that I was tempted to devour in a single reading.

Adam and a very pregnant Laura are a married couple and expectant parents in their thirties. One night, on his way home alone from an office party, Adam frantically tells Laura that he had accidentally struck and killed a pedestrian with his car and fled the scene in panic. It did not help his cause that he had been drinking at the party and was driving over the legal limit.

Despite Laura’s initial reluctance, Adam persuades her to run away with him before the police come looking for him, in case there were witnesses. They flee to an isolated vacation cottage in the countryside that Adam’s sister owns but rarely uses. There they can wait a few days to determine whether Adam’s car had been identified at the accident scene and he is actually a suspect.

Adam is terrified of being caught and going to prison and Laura is equally terrified of having to raise the baby about to be born by herself.

This all happens in the first few pages and now I can say no more, because the story develops in so many surprising ways I would not want to ruin for you. Suffice it to say that just as our enjoyment of any good story is based on the gradual building of tension, Mr. Hurst knows how and when to skillfully release that tension to its maximum effect.

Although the resolution was a little too neat to suit me, Mr. Hurst has once again crafted a superior thriller that his fellow authors should envy.

This author is hit or miss with me and this is a huge miss. The story itself wasn't bad but the storyTELLING was horrible; I felt like I was being talked down to, condescended to as if I were brain dead. It's all about telling rather than showing. Also there was no distinction between the voices IMO. Both Laura and Adam both sounded the same and I pictured them as two people with flat affect.

Another hit from the pen of Daniel Hurst

From page one I was drawn into the lives of these characters ...not seeing the twist until I ran into it headlong. This author has become a firm.favourite in my bookcase

What a great thriller this was that teaches so many lessons: 1) Do you ever know who your partner really is? 2) Revenge is a dish best served cold. 3) Secrets always have a way of coming out and 4) If you don't want anyone to find out, don't do it.
This is a difficult book to review without giving away spoilers but the synopsis for a thrilling read is excellent because it is so believable. Imagine being heavily pregnant and waiting for your loving husband to return home from the pub. Imagine he arrives traumatized and tells you he had one too many and killed a person in a hit and run. Imagine he asks you to run away with him just until he's sure the police can't identify him on any cameras. Now Imagine you agree and pack hastily thinking you are being supportive of your partner Thus begins this nightmare...I haven't read this author before but I certainly will again.5 Stars.

This was a cracking read from this author and also had fewer errors than another I read by him so deservedly earned the 5* this time out. I have a few more by him stashed away in my Wishlist as well. He writes some very twisty-turny tales and they're very good indeed.
I went from feeling sorry for one character then not feeling quite as sympathetic to them. Too many lies will always get exposed at some point. As usual I didn't guess what would happen and a couple of instances were real shockers !
All I spotted that was wrong was the apostrophe in PC's which wasn't needed and footsy should be footsie, then for some reason he went American on us with unrecognizable. Then right at the death, in the Download My Free Book section, he writes..."which has a twist that very people have been able to predict so far" which I think lost the word few, perhaps ?
So, all in all, a very good job indeed and one I enjoyed a great deal.

I am the minority apparently, but I thought this book was silly. The main male character’s thoughts were just ridiculous and he told you everything he was thinking the whole time so there was no real big surprises. I did not enjoy this book but I did finish it so that’s why I gave it the two stars. Disappointment for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is my personal 5 star rating system because I’m too lazy to write a review for every book.

5 stars -> OMFG. I couldn’t stop listening. I was engaged from beginning to end. The story & narrator was amazing. I 100% recommend this book & author. I was able to clearly follow each and every character.

4 stars -> It was pretty good. I would’ve rated 5 stars, But either the ending was lacking, I struggled to keep up with characters, or the story didn’t keep me fully engaged. The narrator was pretty good as well. I’m on the fence about recommending this book, It could go either way.

3 Stars -> It was boring at times & I missed chunks of the story. I most likely struggled to keep up with character developments. The only way I would recommend this book is if it was part of a series. The narrator was most likely average or just couldn’t fix a mediocre book.

2 Stars -> It was pretty horrible. I used it as background noise because I hadn’t had a chance to search for another book. The book either had a bad narrator, The character development was non existent, or the story was hot garbage. I would not recommend this book.

1 Star -> The absolute only reason I listened to this book was because i had no time to search for another one & I needed background noise. It was 1 step up from listening to the radio. I wouldn’t recommend this book to my worst enemy. Everything about this book was terrible. This is only recommended for people on death row and have absolutely nothing else to read.

This book was incredible.. I really enjoyed this novel.
Loving husband and pregnant wife Laura is heavily pregnant with there first child. Within a few pages of reading there lives have been turned upside down when her husband killed someone on the road returning home from his night out. But then… there’s a few twists.. DRAMATIC..
funnily enough in the biggest twist which is revealed shortly after we discover the accidental murder, I had a feeling that this might be the case.. (not giving away any spoilers)

If you are looking for a binge book, dramatic, physiological thriller, with a lot of twists, fast paced, suspense then this may be the book for you!!

I have read several Daniel Hurst books and everyone know how much I love his writing as he is by far one of my favourite authors, I would definitely highly recommend this book!!

Alright this one was better... predictable but it wasn't as corny or cringy as the others. I'm not sure I'll read anything else from this author. It's just a preference.

Masterful suspense, well-structured plot. Two protagonists, we can follow the events from their different perspectives. The question is always whether we can believe what they say, and who is good and who is bad. When we stand behind one of the characters and are excited for him/her to be saved at the end, the plot suddenly changes direction, from good to bad, from bad to not so bad, but even then we don't know if this is reality, because the author twists a something new in the story, and we can't even put the book down, because we need to know what the truth is, whether good triumphs over evil. Or is everyone bad, and we weren't really worried about the life of someone who deserved it? Lots and lots of questions, which are only answered at the end of the book. If we have read several books by the author, we know what to expect from this story, and I can say for sure, we will not be disappointed this time either.

Damn, this book was awesome. This is now the fourth Hurst book that I've read in a row and by far the best. He has such a knack for suspense and keeping you on the edge of your seat. This one was so twisty and I never would've guessed where it was going to end up. On to more Hurst books!

When you do bad, bad happens to you is my motto and appears to be this books motto too. Good story with the twists and turns that Hurst always provides. Oh and don’t forget the flip of the switch ending.

Run Away With Me is the first book I have read by Daniel Hurst
It is the story of Laura and Adam. Laura is heavily pregnant with their first baby.
When Adam returns home after a work party he tells Laura there has been a terrible accident and he needs to run before the police catch up with him.
Laura makes the decision to go with him and together they leave their home to a secluded cabin.
I started off reading this book feeling sorry for Laura. I felt like she was in a coercive controlling relationship with Adam. She allowed herself to be manipulated in to leaving her home with Adam. Then I became annoyed with her because she was ignoring huge warning signals. By the end of the book I didn’t like any of the characters. They were all flawed and selfishly looking out for themselves.
There were some parts of the story that felt like noting was happening so it wasn’t one of those stories I picked up and couldn’t put down but at the same time I did enjoy it and I would read a second book by Daniel Hurst

Quite Delicious

We get the story from four perspectives: the wife in the present, the husband in the present, and then both in the past. This pot of deceit, selfishness, and betrayal has been boiling for a while and now it's being stirred vigorously with a sharp blade.

From page one I was pulled into the story--the husband arrives home to his pregnant wife claiming he drove drunk and accidentally hit a man and killed him. Both fearing the ramifications of his actions with a baby due any day, they go on the run. Of course, as all Hurst fans know, things are not always as they seem.

I enjoyed this novel. It's quite delicious, but there were parts I felt either didn't maintain the fast-paced corkscrew twisting or were repeating. The characters and setting were intriguing and multiple perspectives added depth and surprise.
