The letter N i’m sad to say, turned out to be not my story….
To keep it simple, most of the focus was on Autumn’s “trauma”.
While it should’ve been,imho,on Daniel’s….
I’m not saying Autumn’s wasn’t serious, but she talked herself into feeling the way she did, mostly.
Choosing boyfriends that don’t feel the same about kink is sad,and it will leave a girl with a couple of issues.
But she’s smart, she could’ve worked out the how and why on her own, right?
What happened to Daniel…..that was not by choice,at all!
The fact he got out and fought for justice, fought for his future, makes me respect him….a LOT!
He went through therapy, but still has issues.
Issues that i can understand he has….and that take time to heal.

So,i would’ve loved to see the focus on him instead of her.
Because there’s a lot more to his story.

This is the fourteenth in what I assume will be twenty-six entries in a series set in Las Palmas Oscuras, one of those fantasy BDSM clubs popular in this genre. (I say "assume" because I'm not entirely sure what kinks begin with "Z," but we'll see.) The series' central conceit offers us a dom and sub paired for kink scenes that begin with the letter the club assigns them. Because each novella features different characters, relationship dynamics, and kinks, some will appeal more to individual readers based on personal preference than others. Here "N" means lots of nipple-play, as well as name-change (which I didn't realize was even a thing, much less a kink).

Unlike some of the previous couples, Autumn and Daniel are complete strangers, yet their similar senses of humor, teasing banter, kink compatibility (he's a sadist; she's enough of a masochist), and highly complex attitudes towards BDSM mean that they click pretty immediately (in fact, this is more "insta" insta-love than we've seen anywhere else).

Autumn and Daniel are very likable, and I particularly appreciated their ability to have fun even during very intense moments. The MC has a deeper personal connection and talk more than many of the other couples; thus, some scenes take place outside the club -- another welcome change since few entries do this. In fact, the strongest scenes here were not BDSM, but, rather, the .

That said, the beginning was very talky and enormously repetitive ("I'm broken"/"You're not broken" occurred three times in about as many pages). Autumn's hang-up (she was afraid that men she dated wouldn't respect her if they knew she was submissive) was neither that complicated nor that unusual, but Ms. DuBois devoted so much page time to it and presented it in such a convoluted way that I almost stopped reading. Thankfully, I kept on, because the book does quickly get better. Note: The author should have allocated that time to Daniel's "origin" story, which was much more original and had the added benefit of exploring BDSM as a coping mechanism for past trauma.

Finally, while I appreciated the diversity in ethnic representation, I wish the author would stop referring to doms and subs as synonymous with men and women; and I really wish all these generic authors would stop putting so much stress on whether or not subs can perform positions with grace -- or even if they can perform them at all. Given that knee pain, for example, affects about 25% of adults, it's extremely ableist.

Nice Self-Reflexive Shout-Out to Lexi Blake, Ms. DuBois!

3 1/2 stars which I'm raising to 4 because we get more resolution than we have in past books. "O" is up next.

So we're up to "N" in the checklist game, which sees Autumn, a sub with trust issues who separates a very vanilla dating life from her need to submit and who thinks she's 'broken' with Daniel, a Dom with huge control issues who thinks he's a monster.

'N' doesn't have a very long list of possibilities but it doesn't stop some quite erotic scenes. However, the biggest focus in this book is actually on the characters' communication and establishment of a relationship rather than on just scenes. The dialogue, of which there is much, is delightful and it is wonderful how Dubois draws us in as Autumn and Daniel get to know each other, start to recognise each other's 'hurts' and try to help each other realise they are not the deviant each thinks they are.

It was so easy to connect with the characters, who were really 3- dimensional human beings that can easily be identified with instead of the 2-D almost 'caricatures' that the last book served up. I'm not sure that Autumn's experiences (having a vanilla boyfriend deriding her for asking to be tied up during sex) were really convincing as the basis for her feelings of deep shame and being 'broken' (Daniel's was much more convincing) but seeing them through their extended conversations, which was the focus of much of the book, was endearing.

How lovely to read an erotic novel where there isn't a continual 'pounding' (sic) of highly and extreme sexual scenes at the expense true story-telling. Whilst I appreciate the nature of erotic fiction with a 'checklist' game based in a sex club it's refreshing to have a more fully 'rounded' story that allows the reader to really engage with the characters. In terms of erotic fiction, I find that "less is more" is ultimately far more satisfying than the almost 'robotic' detaling of scenes in earlier books. The fact that I could laugh (there was some genuinely funny dialogue) is a huge 'plus' and makes the characters much more accessible and endearing.

I can honestly say that, unlike the last book in the series, I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to "O is for..." with hope.

There is so much going on in this book, I just don't know where to start! Like the other books in this series, it begins with two strangers, a letter, and a list. But what you don't find out at first, is that these characters come with their own baggage, their own complications, and their own limitations. This is what makes this story so amazing!

Autumn has rules. These rules run her life, but also allow her to get what she needs, while still keeping her life as her own. There are reasons for her rules, and I'm not sure she even knows all of what is behind them! Keeping the two parts of her life separate work for her. Until it doesn't.

This book is all about insta-love (which I adore!!!) BDSM style. There is an instant, wildly combustible chemistry between the characters that leads to some crazy conversations, heated power exchanges, and an absolutely lovely connection. I've enjoyed each book in this series, for different reasons. But this story brings a depth of emotion that really does it for me. This is more than just a kinky story. It delves into the minds of those in the lifestyle, touching on the whys, hows, and whats. It's just.....I can't think of a word to describe the perfectness of this book! This story is definitely going to be a favorite of mine!

N is for...Never say never

Erotica meets introspective soul searching meets witty banter meets romance. I loved this couple from the beginning. Autumn is smart, sassy, and what comes up comes out. She needs her BDSM fix, but it stays separate from her every day life. Daniel is one sexy dude in his suit. He is also a heck of a Dom. He goes the extra mile for his sub, including some makeshift therapy. Their short tale starts with smoking hot chemistry and ends with a sweet hot coupling, in between will make you sweat, break your heart, and put it back together again. Loved it!

N is for ... naughty and nice! Daniel's reasons for joining Las Palmas are compelling. Control is essential and his youthful background shows how destructive the negative side can be. But the way he manages and how he succeeded in gaining control over the worst situation gives Autumn's own fears a way to cope. This couple's greatest enemy is the fear they needed to overcome.

I can’t believe we’re up to “N” in the checklist game, and each story is so unique.

Autumn and Daniel are paired together for this game at Las Palmas. There is such instant chemistry and rapport between the two of them from the start. They begin their weekend by sharing a meal together. That feels too much like a date for Autumn, because she doesn’t date Doms. She prefers to keep the two halves of her life separate. She’s a self-proclaimed “sub with trust issues”. Daniel is a self-proclaimed “Dom with massive control issues”.

Both of them have secrets and issues in their past that definitely affect their present. She thinks she’s broken - he thinks he’s a monster. The intense scenes and communication they share help each to work through those issues.

This story was quite different from some of the other books in the series, and I appreciate that. I thoroughly enjoyed Autumn and Daniel.

This book must be one of my favorite in this series. It was absolutely amazingly fantastic.
Daniel and Autumn have instant chemistry, they are witty, sassy with a great sense of humor and a great respect for each other. There is so much happening right from the beginning and I liked that their communication was open and caring. Daniel was great at showing Autumn at having a better understanding and acceptance of her submission and how Autumn accepted Daniel's past without judgment. I had a difficult time putting the book down, it was epic, hot and wickedly kinky!
This story was a little different from the past books and it was a great change. Loved the humor, the wanting each other outside the D/S and taking the chance. So well put together, Lila is a brilliant writer, get the book it is worth reading. You will not be disappointed!

N is for... is part of the Checklist series. I love this series. It is a great series for anyone interested in or curious about the lifestyle. Each book in the series covers different aspects of BDSM.

N is for ... not only covers N, but what drew Autumn and Daniel to the lifestyle and how important being open and honest is not just with your partner, but with yourself. How past experiences influences our way of thinking and who we are.

This book in the series covers more of Autumn and Daniel than the actual letter. In Autumn's case, N is for "never date a dom". Sometimes we and our fear are the biggest roadblock in getting what we really need and want.

L. DuBois does such incredible writing with this series in her characters and in the lifestyle. Its a quick enjoyable read that I would highly recommend.

I’m not sure how many times I’ve said “This is my favorite couple”, but this time I really mean it!! Daniel and Autumn are so damaged they won’t open themselves up to what could be, until the Overseers matched up another perfect for each other pair. Their story is at times heartbreaking, then heart lifting. Both Daniel and Autumn are well written, compelling characters, the chemistry is intense, and their “scenes”are super steamy. Lila DuBois you have done it again....O is for.... I can’t wait!
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Love These Checklist Stories!!!

Every letter is different – of course. But this digs deep into the psyche of each character. Autumn is very successful, and “needs” the submission for at Las Palmas as a release. She strictly keeps Las Palmas and romance separated due to issues in the past.

Daniel is startled when his sub abruptly leaves their scene. He can see she is shattered and not being a brat. From here we learn backstory, see a genuine rapport and tender drawing out of past hurts.

Emotional and fabulous story – a great addition to this series!

Wow, just WOW...Daniel and Autumn just have chemistry right from the start and though not an obvious Checklist story, this one hooked me in and left me wanting more from these two. L DuBois has once again managed to create a tale that is sexy and erotic while also leaning into the romance of this game and boy is it worth it. I have to admit, when I first began reading I was a bit disappointed by the 'N' categories Daniel was thinking but then I was slapped in the face with Autumn and as Daniel did, fell for this strong, sassy sub as well as her complex Dom while they spent a VERY sexy night at Las Palmas. I'm a bit mad it was left where it was for Daniel and Autumn but that is the nature of these books and I wouldn't have it any other way....the tease at the end for 'O is for ....' also has me wanting and needing more as any good spicy erotic does!
Daniel and Autumn were a great pairing and this is another prominent addition to the Checklist series...it's one, like all before not to miss and I would certainly recommend this one as well as those before. The only complaint is that I now have to wait for more!

N is for... is the next book in the Checklist Series by L Dubois, and it delivers on all fronts with the story line, the characters, and even the tease at the end for the next book. Daniel and Autumn are two people that are perfectly matched by the club for this game. Autumn has some beliefs that hold her back but Daniel is the perfect Dom to help think through her beliefs and be confident enough to move forward. Even though the letter N has a short list, Daniel manages to make the very best and provide some very sexy times between the two of them. Can't wait for the next book.

Wow! The Overseers and Gabriela should be professional matchmakers. They just seem to know what each Dom and Sub need to be completed.

Daniel and Autumn both have secrets they want kept. These two hide their true selves from everyone but turn to each other and reveal their hidden shame/heartbreak/experiences. Daniel is so patient and understanding and therapeutic for Autumn, helping her come to terms with her past experiences. During Daniel's confession, you could just feel him bracing for rejection.

These two are among my favorite checklist pairings. The author wrote some great bantering between these two and several times I found myself laughing out loud and having my family look at me like I was crazy.

I recommend this whole series. Even if you are not into BDSM, the stories are fantastic.

I loved them chemistry between these two! They felt it right from the start, and you felt it right along with them. Next, of course, was the smexy craziness that goes right along with that aforementioned chemistry. But that caused some problems, because keeping BDSM separate from real life is very important to Autumn. Luckily, Daniel is no ordinary Dom, and he is pretty insistent with her. The peeks and disclosures these two hint at and give over the course of their night was a big part of the appeal of them. Both see themselves differently than they are, and the other is the one to point that out to them. Once the chemistry and the emotions connect with the intellect, these two are helpless but to fall for each other <3

Another unique take on the Checklist series.

Daniel and Autumn both have their secrets and Autumn has learned to never date a Dom but what about Daniel.

Loved seeing Danieln handle Autumn's secret and really make a connection & then Autumn uses that connection to handle Daniel's secret.

Can't wait to see who the Overseers have paired up for O...outdoor and denial...can't wait to read it!

Is it just me?
Or do those Checklist stories get hotter with every letter?
This one is not only smoldering off the pages, but also a rather unconventional kind of relationship. Both participants fiercely adhering to the rules of the game at first, but then they start to open up and dig deep into their psychological background.
And there are surprising things ... Aaah, no! Not telling!
Hot, funny, sweet, über-kinky!

Angsty

This book was loosely about the letter "N", but seemed to veer more into angsty thoughts and conversations. The storyline was good, although some of the segue back and forth seemed a little abrupt. I would have liked the epilogue to be about this couple and not a prologue for the next book in the series.

These Two Lost Souls Just May Heal Each Other. If they Can Get Past Their Fears..

The Overseers of Las Palmas have decided the members have become too complacent and have decided to shake things up by announcing that “All” members are required to participate. Any member who decides not to comply will be refunded their membership fee but the non-disclosure agreement they signed will remain in force. Simply put, they are all required to be a part of “The Checklist Game.” Next up is the letter “N.”

After hearing the announcement as she walks away from the “Conclave,” out loud Autumn says the game is “bat shit,” but not too loud. Someone did hear her though. As she is walking back, she is stopped by Daniel who lets her know she has been paired with him and their letter is the letter “N.” While walking out of the blue he says “bat shit?” It takes her a bit to figure it out, then has lets her know it is not a phrase he hears often. While continuing to walk back, they volley words for a minute which has them both laughing. After getting a bite to eat, then they start the scene. During the scene Master Daniel says some things that makes Autumn away. Even though he is confused, Master Daniel catches her and gets her to start talking. Through her convoluted response, he figures out the problem and is able to help her and they continue to scene.

Here’s the deal: Autumn has a lot of fears and due to them she has compartmentalized her relationships and her #1 at the moment is being attracted to Master Daniel. And to her that’s not good. The categories she puts men in are, the ones she dates and men who have certain predilections. Unfortunately Master Daniel falls into both categories. Then there is Master Daniel. He understands Autumn in ways she cannot image. You see, Master Daniel as he told Autumn has been in Therapy, and has secrets that he is keeping that just may end everything before they ever really get started. However if he can get Autumn past her fears maybe she can get him past his.

Simply put, in order to figure it out, they are going to have to “Play The Game.”

I think this is my favorite of the alphabet series so far!

I love that the characters have flaws. That they have insecurities, despite the fact they are successful people.

The chemistry between Autumn and Daniel is palpable!

I don't want to say too much as this is a fast moving, sexy romance, so no spoilers from me!

If you are a fan of this series, I think you're going to love this one, A LOT!!!

Daniel and Autumn have become one of my favorite couples from this series. They both realize early on that if they had met outside of Las Palmas, they would want to date the other. But first they both have issues that need to be dealt with, and since Daniel is the Dom, Autumn's needs come first. I loved how both characters were able to eventually open up and be vulnerable with the other, plus how Daniel was so attentive to Autumn during their scene and in aftercare.

Loved it! Lila Dubois makes excellent use of descriptive language; her stories are always such sensual reads! From my point of view, this particular novel had a more poignant side than usual to it. The characters believe that their personal baggage will prevent them from forming any type of “normal” relationship. The process of understanding from where the other’s feelings come from took me on a very emotional read. I truly enjoyed the story! As always, it was a Fabulous!

Thoughtful, good character choices

I read other reviews and disagree. This book speaks to the mental struggles of humiliation which can be very real and more painful than caning or bull whipping. Autumn reacts strongly to certain words like slut, whore, etc. Daniel has two choices. He can try and understand or just force her to face her internal terrors. Well written, insightful and I thank you for addressing emotional turmoil that goes with BDSM newbies.

Way too short
I usually like the way the author spends a couple chapters towards the end introducing the next set of characters. It help get you hooked and invested in the next book before it even begins
However I barely got to know Sarah and Dev before new characters were introduced and then it was over
Dev never even told Sarah what he did for a living
It just ended abruptly “you’re mine, I’m yours, everything else is easy” the end

Another brilliant addition to this series. Autumn is a successful Hedge Fund Manager and Daniel is a Forensic Accountant. Both have past trauma to work through. Can they work through it, together? While it had some of the regular BSDM fun, some of the prelude to that was equally intense. While I LOVE this series, I do with the books were longer. Give Me MORE!

Autumn and Daniel are given the letter "N" as their assignment and both are about to learn big lessons in the life of BDSM, chemistry, honesty, truth, and love...will they be able to throw their issues out and find what they've been searching for or do they simply fold in their assignment and say NO. Loved it!!

While the books in the Checklist series are only moderate in length, Lila Dubois does such a masterful job of creating richly layered and utterly likeable characters and then surrounds with interesting stories that delve into the kinky, steamy world of BDSM. All in all you might wish for a longer book but you won't walk away dissatisfied with your reading experience. Autumn and Daniel certainly fit the mold of being likeable and multilayered. They are, each in their own way, broken by events in their pasts to varying degrees. Revealing their truths is painful yet necessary if they want something beyond their letter N weekend.

Delicious!
The right amount of pleasure and pain...Daniel has this down pat. Using his skills, he brings Autumn around to seeing her submission as he does. Their stories which created who they are, how they live their lives and the restrictions they each place on their roles and relationships are interesting, and not at all unrealistic.

This book was an departure from the previous checklist books. There was alot of focus on their past and interaction outside of the club. Daniel and Autumn both have issues that affect how they need BDSM. While this book was light on scening it was still a fast and enjoyable read. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
