About the author

Kathryn Springer grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child, she spent many hours sitting at her mother’s typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books – which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own.

After a number of busy years, when she married her college sweetheart and became a stay-at-home mom, Kathryn rediscovered her love for writing. An unexpected snow day from school became the inspiration for a short story, which she submitted to Brio magazine. She went on to publish over a dozen more short stories for Brio, but it wasn’t until her youngest child started school that she decided to pursue her dream to write a book. In August 2004, her Love Inspired® debut novel, Tested by Fire, was published.

Fast forward to today and Kathryn has written over thirty novels. She lives on a lake in northern Wisconsin where she enjoys long walks in the woods and the change of seasons (although sometimes she wishes the "change" between winter and spring didn't last quite so long!) When she isn’t at the computer, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, paging through cooking magazines or sitting in the sun. A really, really good day includes all three! 12 year old Jenny enters her father in a contest for a make over with image consultant Caitlin. Caitlin goes to see him and thinks he needs more of a personality make over. She finds he is trying to keep custody of his children and doesn't believe looks should count. She finally convinces him that the way he dresses does matter. After seeing him with his children she is sure he should have custody. Even though she fights it, Caitlin is falling in love.

I love finding new authors whose books have a powerful message and a good story. When you've been really hurt, it's very hard to trust people. Also, if you have an image you are trying to portray, it's hard to sometimes let people in that might not seem to go with that image. But praise God that He changes our way of thinking, and helps us to trust people as we trust Him. Very well done!

Good, quick, safe read. Devin's sister-in-law Vickie wants custody of his daughter Jennifer, her deceased sister's child. Devin has to get to know 12-year-old Jennifer, because she had spent so much time with her mother she didn't know her father, but with Caitlin's help, Devin hopes to retain custody of Jennifer. Kathryn Springer writes a good book.

I loved this book, the characters were adorable and the story was so well written. It made cry tears of compassion, sympathy and joy. Totally worth reading repetitively.

I have a horrible tendency to pick up the second or third book in a series, thinking it�s a standalone, and read it first. That was the case with this book. Publishers really need to label those things better! \nI had been doing some heavier reading and went to the library in search of some �fluffy fiction.� Family Treasures fit the bill.\nCaitlin McBride is an image consultant. When a teenager nominates her father, Caitlin gets wrapped up in more than just revamping Devon Walsh�s physical appearance.\nIt was a satisfying, predictable book. Just what I needed.\n

Do you need a makeover? A style intervention?

In Family Treasures, Devon Walsh, the male protagonist, does.

What ensues is a low-tension story about a man, his family, and the baggage he carries.

The strength of this story lies in its slightly different approach to the traditional love story. Its weakness stems from involving so little tension as to be almost plot-less.

Overall, it is a cheerful, happy story suitable for "mindless" reading.

Great read by this author...inspiring little story of two people brought together due to circumstance and it grows from there...love the rich characters, constantly moving storyline and mystery sub-plot...would like to see where Devon and Caitlyn are five years in the future!! Can't wait to read more by this author...

I found this in my mom's books and brought it home then forgot about it. I just came across it while cleaning and found it a fun summer read. These Love Inspired books are ok but I don't expect too much. This was a pleasant surprise--I found the story interesting, well-written and it captivated my attention. Worth reading.

While Cait delves into the mystery of this family another mystery of a ring left in a tree trunk is discovered. Will Devon's children be hurt by the publicity?

I love this book and I've read it several times. The characters are great and it's not too sappy. The banter between the characters makes you smile not want to pull your hair out. It's my go to book when I need a book to cheer me up. It is my favorite of Springer's Mcbride sister books.
