‘To be worshipped is a wonderful thing. Even if it’s by someone whose name I will never know.’

The Last Kiss by Anna Bloom is without question one of the most beautiful and epic love stories we’ve read, a favourite this year, no hesitation! We do not have the words to fully convey to you all just how deeply we felt every word, every emotion, and every seductive moment. Our hearts were pounding to the beat of the mood throughout, they beat with joy, passion, with heartbreak and with anticipation. We wanted to slow down, to appreciate the utter exquisite romance playing out before our eyes, written by Anna Bloom. The wonderment, the beauty the delectable seduction. Yet the undercurrent of intense heartbreak and trauma was never forgotten, and we couldn’t stop reading for anything, we needed, no we craved the knowledge that was beyond our grasp, at our fingertips.

‘It was only ever mean to be a night of fun. But I guess that’s life. It steals up and surprises you when you least expect it, squirming into all the tight spaces that you thought you kept carefully locked.’

“Don’t be scared,” he whispers.

Scared.

“I am,” I whisper back.

Two beautiful strangers with an intense chemistry meet in a London pub, no names allowed – one night! Everything that comes after is what romance is truly made of. Fate bringing a poignant soul mate love but being a real bitch about the timing of it. The sheer agony was powerful, yet the swoon, the humour, the love; well, the balance was written impeccably. Julianna Brown, a tiny slip of a young woman, beaten by news she can’t grasp, yet displaying an incredible strength. A woman in the prime of her life who feels like she’s never truly lived. Henri the larger than life gorgeous and older Frenchman who literally sweeps Julianna off her feet in one night. How many steps from here to the epic and eternal love affair?

‘To live without her would be unbearable. No, not even that; it would be impossible.’

What a phenomenal love story written by Anna Bloom. If we could, we would buy this book for every one of you to make sure it ended up in your hands, because this is one of the most romantic, exhilarating, intense, heart-breaking, emotionally torturous love stories and it deserves to be read by YOU ALL! We cried tears –so many tears- tears out of both love and hurt. This is pure untainted romance, written to perfection. This is romance in its purest and most beautiful definitions. This journey is wondrous and mesmerising. This is the epitome of the saying ‘without darkness you cannot see the light.’ Wow, just WOW! The Last Kiss should be a movie and what an epic one this love story would be. Julianna and Henri stole our hearts, and we gladly gave them away.

‘Life was simply a heartbeat. Love the silence between.’

This is a beautiful, heartfelt love story that is full of feels, asking the question - would you embrace new love, knowing it could never last?

Julia has just received the devastating news that her heart is failing, and she only has a very limited time left before it fails completely. While the news is sinking, she meets a gorgeous French man in a bar and figures that one night of anonymous passion is just what she needs to momentarily take her mind off it all. So no names, no questions and no promises, she shares an unforgettable night, and in the morning, she leaves.

But fate has other plans when Julia runs into her beautiful stranger again… and again… and their one night of no strings turns into a deeper connection than she could ever have imagined.

I’m dying, but somehow you are this magical being that’s manifested into my life just when I thought it was over.

Henri the Frenchman is pretty much perfect. He’s gorgeous, intelligent and caring, sexy as all hell, and he wears his heart on his sleeve for Julia. The man holds nothing back physically or emotionally, and I adored him! It’s impossible not to fall for him, which I did right alongside Julia, and watching the two of them together is passionate, sweet, and so incredibly beautiful. And the whole thing is made more intense and emotional knowing what is to come, making the whole situation absolutely heartwrenching.

My heart has just sunk. Whatever this is, and believe me I know it’s epic, it can’t ever truly be anything. I have nothing to promise and nothing to give. Anything less than that would be a travesty for a man as exceptional as this one.

Throughout Julia’s journey, we watch her look back on her life and realise how safe, and small it has been, how she’s never taken big chances or stepped outside of her little box. And as she comes to terms with her prognosis, I loved watching her finally find the courage to live, especially because it results in such a beautiful love story.

“I’m so glad I met you,” I whisper into the shadowy haze.
His arms tighten a notch. “I’m never letting you go.”

The ending of the story brings the feels, as expected, and I read with tears rolling down my face. But oh, what a beautiful story, with some very important messages about living for the moment and embracing life’s opportunities

Right now, I feel it.
Life.
I can feel what living is. It’s in one moment to the next. One breath that leads to another. One touch, one sigh, one glance, creating a perfect moment that is imprinted forever.

I admit, I went looking for spoilers before I read this book so that I could prepare myself for what was going to happen (please don’t judge). If you want to know, here you go - .

A beautifully written story. I’m keen to read more from this author, and am looking forward to reading Julia’s sister, Liv’s book next.

4.5 stars.

I LOVED this romance. Beautiful, emotional, at times it was a touch heartbreaking, but it was also a hopeful, joyful book about finding your soulmate. These two meet and fall hard and it felt fated. Meant to be.

So beautiful and gut wrenching. I adored it.

And YES there is a real HEA.

Where do I begin with this review. Well let's start with saying it one of the most emotional and heartbreakingly beautiful love stories I've ever read. Now I know a lot of books have insta chemistry but this is insta chemistry, connection and its fated love. Julia and Henri are set and written in the stars and I'd love for anyone to prove me wrong. But this love story isn't easy. Life never really is. But especially in this case.

This story isn't an open and shut case. It's a fight quite literally to the death. Against the clock that is literally counting down in Julia's  chest. Julia get given a death sentence the day Henri walks into her life. What should have been one night ends up being something that Julia and Henri just doesn't want to let go of. Even though it something that Julia knows she can't keep. I've cried and cried reading this book. I never thought I'd ever stop but there are parts that made me laugh, through my tears and some characters that are just brilliant. Especially the little devil Paige, she just makes me smile. I love a bold and brassy kid in a book. Its just magical to read.

Now the ending of this tearful read, I'll keep to myself. I think it should be experienced first hand. As the author intended. I would go in with an open heart and a box of tissues. It's one hell of a ride. One that makes my heart still hurt. This book is the first book I've read by this author and I can honestly say I will continue to read Anna Blooms words even if she did break me. This is a huge recommend from me.

It has been a few hours since I finished reading The Last Kiss, and it has taken all this time for my blotchy face and swollen red eyes to look normal again after all the tears I've shed. It's been a while since I've cried so much whilst reading and I can't imagine any reader not needing tissues during this emotional story.

I was blinking back the tears during the very first chapter. Looking back, I’m wondering why I made the effort because it wasn’t too long before I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing and that was me for much of Julia’s journey... in tears! I honestly don’t know how I managed to get through those closing scenes. I couldn’t see my kindle through my stinging, swollen eyes. My heart hurt. My mind was considering all the possibilities, and I clung on to hope… hope that all would be well in the end. I had to step away and take breathers, but then within seconds of continuing with the story I was a mess once again. Experiencing all the emotions that this story brought out in me was incredible - even those that hurt are worth it.

All I’m going to say about Julia and Henri is that I adore them both. They are amazing individuals and truly are perfect for each other. I cannot wait for you to meet them as I know you will adore them too.

Please don’t think that all you will feel is sadness and hurt. OMG this story is so much more than that. I smiled lots, laughed and swooned too. There are some powerful messages that I will take away from Julia’s journey and I am certain my life will be better for doing so. I can’t not mention how much I love Liv and her family and I hope that this isn’t the last we see of them. They added to the storyline perfectly and I would love to read Liv’s story one day. I must also add that some of the settings in this story are described so beautifully that they are now added to my own travel bucket list.

I highly recommend The Last Kiss to you to read. I sincerely hope you get to experience this emotional, inspirational, heartwarming and heartbreakingly beautiful story without knowing any spoilers…. just as I have. This will most certainly be one of my favourite reads of 2021.

The best serendipity I've ever come across! Well-written, romantic setting, beautiful dialogues, solid MCs and likeable side characters.

Except for the epilogue, the entire book is h Julia's 1POV. Her heart illness, her life that's just started the day her doctor dropped her life's timer, her unexpected encounter with her soulmate H Henri, their bittersweet love story, and her race against time.

From the beginning, I know her secret.
Clue: it's in the blurb and prologue.
So to keep that secret from H for 27 chapters out of 31 was too long for my liking. I understood her reasons, alright. But I didn't like that her lies went on forever. It was self-serving and selfish and hurtful. H's the sweetest boyfriend, he didn't push and let h paced their relationship eventho I sensed that he really wanted more.
I'm sad cuz I really like h but I couldn't get past her big lie. And to stay inside her head/POV thru it all, I got really annoyed.🙁
Add to it the rushed resolution, ugh.

The vague relationship history made the MCs' relationship mysterious which made me curious. H's huge ex secret didn't make sense cuz it was simply forgotten after h's outburst.

I wanted to rate this 3 stars but H is one of the best book boyfriend ever so I've decided on 4 stars! 😏

"To live without her would be unbearable, no not even that, it would be impossible." This is just one of the many quotes from The Last Kiss that broke my heart. This book is everything. Sad, emotional, sexy and ultimately joyful. I can't express how much it made my heart stutter. Everything about it was like an epic movie with thunderous music playing in the background a testament to the talent of Anna Bloom. She's one of the best at writing angst and emotion with her beautiful poetic prose, but The Last Kiss has to be her best yet. It felt like Anna was as much in love with this book as readers are bound to be. Every word flowed and every scene between Henri and Julia was perfection. I felt like I was living their story for real and it and the characters stayed with me for days afterwards. Even now when I think of red wine and kissing in the rain my heart flutters at thoughts of this brilliant book. This is how a love story should be written and I can't recommend it enough.

"Life was simply a heartbeat. Love the silence in between."

"I should probably be thinking of the words I'll need to say tomorrow. I never thought I'd have to tell him, never knew we'd get to this point. It was only ever meant to be a night of fun."

Most of us, can easily say , when asked what book is the standout book by an author can name that one book. Anna Bloom has written some of my favourite books, but in The Last Kiss I firmly believe that this is Anna’s Best Book by far.
The book starts with Julia experiencing a day that is as miserable and depressing as the weather . A snap decision , so very out of character for her, triggers events that have huge consequences for her and shape her future in a way she could never of imagined.
Life is one big game of chance, somethings that we can shape, and somethings best left to fate. While Julia believes her life will only go in one very destined path, Henri firmly believes that his life will go in the destination it wants to.
Between them you will be taken on a wonderful, emotional , heartwarming and heartbreaking journey. One with plenty of highs and lows. But a journey which is well worth the read.
I hope you all fall in love with Henri and Julia as much as I did. I’m sure at the end you’ll agree that The last Kiss is Anna’s Book

After receiving the worst news of her life, Julia meets a stranger in London and she ends up doing something she never saw the old her doing: having a one night stand. The two of them meet again and again, as if fate has brought them together. They never exchange names, they never make things serious. But with Julia’s days coming to an end, she realizes she has fallen head over heels for her stranger. Yet she knows that while she might’ve fallen in love with the right man, she fell in love with him at the completely wrong time.

The Last Kiss by Anna Bloom is book 1 in the Notting Hill Sisterhood series. This is a rather heavy romance, dealing with chronic illness & heart failure. I wanted to love this after seeing such great reviews on GR. I think what kept me from loving this was the writing style that at times, felt so very British. There were also some time jumps and unexplained events that I needed cleared up, especially toward the end. I think we also could’ve benefited from the hero’s POV. I still recommend and would consider continuing in the series. 3/5 stars.

Review by Jen Skewes

This is the first book that I have read by Anna Bloom and I loved it. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Julianna has just received some life altering news. She is still trying to process it all when she finds herself entering a pub. It’s there that she meets a beautiful gorgeous and sexy Frenchman. Their chemistry is intense. They decide on one night together with one rule, no names. Julianna knows that there cannot be anything more than just one night. But fate has a way of stepping in. The universe is telling the two of them that they belong together, because somehow they keep running into each other. They cannot ignore it any longer and neither can deny the feelings that they are starting to feel. But Julianna has a secret, one that will change everything. She knows that she needs to tell him, but she also wants to live a little and spend her time with this sweet sexy man.

I loved both Henri and Julianna. She was given devastating news and yet she handled it a lot better than I would. I admired her strength so much and it was one of the many reasons that I loved her. Henri was these sweet, caring, loving and amazing man. You could see his feeling for Julianna from the beginning. And the chemistry between them, both physically and emotional was intense. Feeling their emotions and how much these two belonged together. This love story was everything!!! I never doubted for a second that they were meant to be. But there was also that part of me that wondered how?

This is one of those love stories that captures you from the start. It’s one of those love stories that is so beautifully written that you feel every emotion deep withing. It will break you; it will comfort you; it will make you smile. You will fall in love with these two beautifully amazing people. And when it’s all over you will not want to let them go.

If you have not read a book by Anna Bloom yet, then start with this beautiful story. I loved it!

Well this story really puts you through the ringer. Julianna finds out she has 6 months to live and meets Henri. They have a one night stand and then things progress from there. She is hiding her condition from him and he is hiding a big secret from her. The characters were so wonderful. There were times I cried and times I laughed, but mostly it is a sweet romance full of ups and downs. This is the first Anna Bloom book, but it won't be the last. Her writing puts you right in the story. So emotional, so real

Beautiful, emotional and ultimately uplifting, The Last Kiss is a story that will stay with me a long time. Julianna and Henri are star crossed lovers, meeting the day that Julianna receives the worst news of her life. From the beginning the chemistry between them is off the charts, giving Julianna a hope for the future that made my heart ache for her. I loved her character, and fell for Henri's man-giant of a Frenchman from the first moment he appeared. As the twists and turns of their relationship continued, I read with bated breath, praying that they got the happiness they both deserved.

This book gave me all the sighs, in the best kind of aching way. Anna's words are like poetry, and I loved every one of them.

Julia had a problem. Her heart was breaking, it was failing her, and unless a miracle happened she only had months to live. The day she found out, she walked around in the London fog, in a fog. She finally ended up in her favorite little pub she always visited after she left the hospital. Ignoring her ringing cell phone for the hundredth time she orders a glass of wine and makes eye contact with the stranger she’s been side-eyeing all night in the mirror behind the bar. He invites her to a table for dinner and she manage to forget her death sentence for just a few while taking in this gorgeous Frenchmen who is apparently in “cheese.” A night cap, no names, a one night stand...nothing more. Julia keeps living, and a month later who does she see? Her French Mountain Man! Fate is a cruel mistress. Sending this perfect man who makes her laugh and does these incredible things to her body that she can’t get out of her head. So one night turns into 2, and the rules are amended, but still - no names. Her Frenchman tells her, if we meet a third time, all bets are off. We tell each other’s names and we do this outside of the bedroom, so to speak. As I say, fate is a cruel mistress and they meet again. He’s Henri, she Julianna, and they really like each other. Julianna still hasn’t told Henri about her condition because well, it was supposed to be one night, no names, and the end. When she decides to live a little before the end and goes to France to see him, she has to tell him, but as I say...fate is cruel mistress. Oh you better have your tissues ready for this one. It is full of triggers. A young woman, not even 30, dying meets the perfect man who adores her. There’s an age gap, but that never really made a difference. Parental issues on both sides, spousal abandonment, but well written and highly recommended. For a dying woman, she has got it bad. The steaminess is off the charts. If I’m dying, I want my husband to make my body sing like Henri did to Jules.

As I sit here having not long finished this book, wiping away the floods of tears that have been falling and blurring the pages of the last few chapters, I can only think at the moment how truly beautiful a story it was. Julia and Henri have stolen my heart and I'm not sure they will ever let go, I don't want them to either. Anna Bloom has put my emotions through the wringer and cracked, no smashed my heart to pieces, but in the most loving way she has pieced it back together. It's just not quite the same as it was before, it's better for it.

I'm wondering how on earth I can do The Last Kiss justice with my review. Perhaps this is enough to make you want to read this story blind, however there is so much I want to say, but I don't want to give too much away.

One night of fun, no names... . Little did Henri or Julianna know how their passion, chemistry and a little dose of fate would have such a profound effect on their lives.

"I don’t know anything about this Frenchman knelt by my side like a knight of old at a holy shrine , but I know between us flows something unexpected and unique."

Now I've had a few days to reflect on this incredible book, I can tell you the story was high on the emotional spectrum. Be prepared for heartache and tears, but it was also full of humour and joy and the swooniest, heartwarming, romantic moments with a stunningly hot, handsome, sexy French man. I felt like I was with Julia every step of her heartfelt journey as Henri changed her life on the day she needed it most, from grey to the most wonderful colours, the first time they met. She was brave, strong and vulnerable in the face of such trauma but still able to shine a light on Henri's life, the way he lit up hers.

"How can this possibly be the end when all I want is it to be our beginning?"

This book was an outstanding story of soul deep love from the first page to the very last word. Without a doubt it will be one of my very top reads this year and always. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, this thoroughly deserves it. It's not going to leave my thoughts for a very long time.

Its no secret I have loved Anna's work for years but honestly this one is her best work ever!

This book was filled with emotion and packed quite a punch. I couldn't put it down once I started and at some point it was hard to read through the tears but every tear was completely worth the emotional wringer she put me through.

Julia meets Henri on the worst day after receiving heartbreaking news and the connection between them was instant and off the charts leading to one seriously hot night. Fate had a way of stepping in and bringing them together again and again.

Henri gives Julia hope. Even when he doesn't know the truth, what is really going on, their connection is huge and undeniable. They just have to beat the clock and achieve a miracle.

I don't want to give too much away as this book needs to be experienced. You need to experience every high and every tear. Tissues will be needed along with some alcohol or chocolate when finished but it is worth everything.

This is one hell of a MUST READ!!

Oh wow!! I'd heard amazing reports but hadn't read any details thankfully.. you need to go into this blind!!
Straight away my mind wondered to where this story was going to go.. I came up with my own twists! Don't do it.. dont go there !! Let this story take you to where its going!
Julianna met Henri on quite possibly the worst day of her life and embarks on one night with a sexy stranger..no names shared !
Of course, fate (as Henri deemed it) had other ideas and threw them together on more than one occasion after. Julianna refused to believe that she deserved Henri and certainly wouldn't let him in.. hiding from him the biggest secret you could possibly have. That said, Henri had a few secrets of his own up his sleeve.
Once the secrets are out in the open, can they forgive each other and let the other be there to offer the support they each need.
This story wrung my heart out at times but as always from Anna Bloom, it kept me engrossed right until the last moment! Beautiful story ❤

This is a good emotional romantic drama. When Julianna and Henri meet, there's an instant connection only Julianna had just found some devastating news earlier that day. Some really good writing, I enjoyed it.

Grab your tissue boxes and snuggle up readers, because this read is as emotional and painfully beautiful as it is romantic, sexy and adventurous. I did not expect this read today, and it had me sucked in good. Another great creation from Anna Bloom, forever remembering the black lace and amber.
