The Vampire King and I: Book One

Once upon a time, Dawn Hendricks wanted little more than the basics in life, like a loving family, a place to call home, and food to fill her belly. On a snowy night in New York, the disgruntled Domitillio goes for a walk after a business deal gone wrong and stumbles across a sexual assault. Not one to care for the issues of humans, he attempts to walk away, but the brutally beaten beauty before him cools the fire in his veins, and stirs something in him he can’t quite discern.
Enamored and curious that a battered human could fuel a possessiveness he’s never felt, he takes her in, and finds their meeting was destiny. I’ve been creating stories in my head since I was a kid and always felt I had a talent for reading comprehension. Armed with my love for stories and great reading skills i started to write. I started out writing simple fantasy books as those were my favorite genre of books then. Though I quickly found that I preferred a really good romance between the hero and heroine in the books I read. I noticed that if they didn’t have a good romantic chemistry between the two I didn’t read it. Years later after reading more books in the genre of romance. I find myself here today making this author page. I’m humbled that so many of you have read my work. I appreciate it beyond measure and hope to continue to provide what you guys are looking for.

The story was so-so, but the grammar, misspelling, and wrong word usage killed it for me.
I was so excited for this…but y’all this was bad. With proper editing, this book would be a 6 out of 10 with no storyline change. As it stands currently, it’s a 2 out of 10 for me.
To be completely honest, Rose Marie isn’t the best at grammar, spelling, and word usage. But this one takes the cake for sure. She kept using the word “flint” to describe the hero moving quickly from one place to another. That is not what flint means. I’m guessing she meant to use the word “flit” but just couldn’t take the time to check if she was using flint right. And this wouldn’t be a big deal but she used the word flint in like every other paragraph. She also used the word “clucked” to describe the action of the heroine tapping a pin against her chin in thought. Clucking is for chickens! What’s wrong with the word “tapped”? These are just two of the many instances where she used a word improperly. She had a lot of misspellings, duplicate words, switching “of” with “for” and vice versa, and she would have scenes where you couldn’t tell if a character was coming or going. Again, she usually has some of these mistakes in all of her books. I’ve even coined it the “Rose Marie writing style” when I see other authors write like this. But this was a little too much of that.
Also, why does she keep putting characters from different series in different books? Did Connor O’Shea really have to make a cameo here when it didn’t add anything to the already so-so story? And two more things, why does she name drop herself in her books and why did she make the heroine aware of the fact, multiple times I may add, that she was in a book? One of the excuses the heroine gave herself as for why her relationship with the hero was going too fast was because they were “only in ‘x’ chapter of the story Ms. Marie is writing”. Like what? That’s just so jarring as a reader when you’re trying to get into the storyline of a book.

I loved this book! 10 Stars!
However, it does require the reader to have a very open mind and welcome supernatural characters and events. I personally loved every moment. Spectacular!
I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy a bit of fantasy with their romance. You will not be disappointed.

I liked it
I liked it. I didn't love it. Its more fun to read these type of sci-fi books when the new couple has to investigate & go on adventures together. Part of the book shes in some type of coma & the other half shes kidnapped. Dawn was such a victim of her circumstances for the majority of the book that she had no real personality. Only thing I knew about dawn was that according to herself she was ugly. The self loathing is not fun to read & doesn't endear you to the character. It's ok for black women to be vulnerable but that doesn't mean she has to be pathetic. Parts of the book was funny which I enjoyed. I didn't believe for second they were in love, they were hardly in the same room for the majority of the book. This (I will kill everything to have you) type of love made no sense because they were rarely together. When & how could they have fallen in love? They hardly seem fated.

I felt like this may have been Rose Marie’s best work, that’s not saying that I don’t like her other books but The Vampire King and I was just simply in a lane of it’s own. I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end, everything unfolded so beautifully. I was happy to see that Camden from His obsession was mentioned here. It was short but nevertheless I like it.
I look forward to reading Uriah’s story. He is the definition of the saying “hurt people,hurt people” .

Awkward, Wouldn't Recommend

Dawn is a homeless seemingly human woman who is attacked by two drunken men who plan to rape her. Domitillio is a vampire king , might versus right with a willingness violently get his point across and who really could care less about others. Domitillio happens upon Dawn's predicament and almost leaves her to her death and rape but is compelled to step in and save her despite his detached feelings in general. Dawn is given an opulent room in Domi's stronghold, servants to see to her needs, and whatever she needs for her recovery. Since Dawn was unconscious for several days, she and Domi don't have the chance to talk for several days and she's unsure if she's a prisoner. Fast forward through the book, she and Domi mate, have triplets, two boys and a girl, are separated and go to war with angels who want Dawn and daughter dead, win, and live happily ever after.
In between all of this are some of the most incredibly unbelievable events, emotional reactions, and storyline I've read in a while. The speech patterns, dialogue, situations, and explanations are simple and there's no reason for world building since everything is possible. Turns out Dawn is the granddaughter of a goddess and from mother to daughter, carries something that makes it so that the females' babies can be multiple supernatural species' at once which is unheard of up until Dawn. Oh, and the goddess grandmother reveals herself. Domi doesn't read as a long lived vampire king and punishes everyone around him so often, I wonder why no one tries to stab him in the back. Often. Other scenes are just weird, including the first time he and Dawn have sex just adds to the overall awkwardness of the book.

Buy This Book.
This author has done the impossible and left me Speechless and Amazed. I was blown away by Damn and her fierce Vampire Alpha Domi. He rescued her from being rape and gave those bastards great bloody ending. This author effortlessly brought into light other great characters history from previous books including Connor O' Shea and the death god attached to his being. This author stories is better than True Blood, Game of Thrones and the sex scenes would make a whore blush. Bravo for a story with in a story that answered questions about the origin of the different paranormal activity intertwined in a few if her earlier works of art. Demon King whenever that book comes will be worth the wait. There are so many books and characters who hopefully will one day have a story but please read all her books and enjoy. The black women are beautiful fighters and their men protect them at all cost. The Vampire King and I was a beautiful love story but Domi was just as sexy dominant like the characters Connor, Sam, Bennett, Sterling, Josh, and Elijah. It is great even the strongest man can become weak for the lady they love and gain an even greater strength mental and physically from her love. This was amazing and truly another Wonderful book by a talented author.

Pleasant surprise
This book was pretty good. A few things here and there but overall I liked it. I enjoyed the moments of humor that was interspersed in the book.
Domi wasn’t no one to play with. He was king and everything bothered him - weather, air, humans, other species, etc. All was beneath him and subject to him. All better bow and obey ok!
His queen was a mere human who experienced life’s lowest of moments. Going from beloved daughter to orphan who suffered atrocities at the hands of others, to runaway, to homeless and hungry, to sexual target by evil men. Then Domi saved her. She went from the box house to the big house!
What she didn’t know is she was the vampire kings new obsession. Hell he didn’t really know it!
This leads to a whirlwind of things happening in an epic fashion. Romance, soulmates, kidnapping, powers being revealed, prophecies, and babies! Alliance’s being made, bartering for favors, oaths being sworn, angels and dragons and multi-breed shifting pups! Plus more.
I’m glad there was a lil bit of an explanation for the motivation behind the hate at the end. Definitely worth the read.

Has good elements…def took reader on a journey… a lot more extensive plot than expected. Could have done with better editing as some words jump out for being incorrect but doesn’t distract overall; also spacing was weird and made it confusing as to whether we were still in the same scene or attributed the dialog to correct character. Domi was cold and indiscriminately-RUTHLESS but seems to be evolving so points for development. Dawn also evolved but the first part where she and domi got together was a little questionable…he, literally, breaks her … or parts of her. Still don’t know why she has ice powers…must be book 2. This one suffices for me though (I consider this one standalone- wraps up well enough). Not sure I will read follow-up as I’m not obsessed with their story or story of other characters, including the million-year-old virgin dragon. The random thrown-in airport moment where we are made aware it’s the same universe as Connor O’Shea was eh on one level cuz it was out of place imo but kinda cool that all this is happening in the “real world”.

The story had some entertaining elements. However, I couldn't help but notice certain areas that impacted my overall experience. The narrative had potential, issues with formatting, grammatical errors, and misspelled words that disrupted the flow, making it a bit challenging to fully engage.
I found myself questioning certain elements of the plot, such as Dawn's lack of friends or employment. Additionally, the portrayal of Domitillio, the vampire king, occasionally felt inconsistent, with moments that hinted at weakness.
The appearance of Connor O'Shea raised some confusion, and unless there's a planned crossover between characters in the future, it left me wondering about his relevance to this storyline.

Oops! She Did It Again!
Just when you think you've got Rose Marie figured out, she comes at you, once again, from a different direction. This multifaceted author blew me away with a beautiful paranormal story interweaving previous beloved characters. She has so many new and old characters that leave you jonesing for their back stories. The love story between Dawn and Domi is interrupted time and again from different obstacles stemming from a past transgression. I love the author and I've read all her work. I know she's setting up the groundwork for upcoming stories and explaining the connection of past characters. I think we all wanted to see more of just Dawn and Domi and, dare I dream, that there will be a possible book 2 that gives more of what we want??? So many stories to tell and so little time. Keep them coming Ms. Marie!

Dawn, Domi, the children and the great friends
What a book. It explores the concepts of Good and evil, of God and the devil. Kalifa was Uriel’s true love but he lost her because his creator would not let him be with her in marriage. Domi and Dawn was a match made in heaven. Although he was the Vampire King, she was his Queen and there was nothing too good for her.
Dawn was tested many times and each time her powers increased. She became pregnant and birthed triplets but was unconscious for months. Uriel took to picking on Dawn, because she reminded him of his lost love and child. There was a Great War in heaven where the angels didn’t prevail matter of fact God was upset with Uriel for his attitude. Although Uriel was supposed to represent God, his attitude didn’t. There was a Great War in heaven…..

Dark , Epic Action-Packed IR Paranormal Romance
I purchased this book at the 60% mark while reading it on KU , because I knew then I wanted it as part of my collection to read again...It's that GOOD💃 This 📖is a paranormal fantasy filled with vampires, elves, shifters, goblin, fairies dragons , Angels & humans. The battle scene is fierce, epic, action- packed, with the characters jumping off the pages to transport you to their realm😍 Domitillio is the apex predator- a 5000 year old, alpha, fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 wielding Vampire King , with zero patience, who will end anyone, with extreme vengeance who crosses him . He will protect his black ice Queen Dawn and their children by any means necessary, and I just ❤ him!!!! Rose Marie is an awesome✍and hope there will be a 📚2 🙌

Good story
This was a good story. Love the si fi aspects of the story. The characters were well developed and the story keep you on yours toes. I loved how Dawn made Dami learn to have human feelings again. It just shows that no matter how old you are you don't know everything. My only problem with the books is, I just don't like the way the author puts herself in the book. Why does it have to be her? I have read other authors that put other authors in their books, but not themselves. I already know who I'm reading, don't need to be reminded about.
I love Mrs. Marie's books and all the characters keeps you in the story. Can't wait for the next in this series, but I see O'Shea has my an appearance at the end. Are we to have more of him later🤔 hint hints. 😆

I love Mrs. Marie's books and all the characters keeps you in the story. Can't wait for the next in this series, but I see O'Shea has my an appearance at the end. Are we to have more of him later🤔 hint hints. 😆

This was not your typical vampire story...yes it had some editing problems, but I enjoyed the The Vampire King. He had a huge I don't give a damn attitude for a reason and when he saved Dawn from being attacked, that's when the tingles and magnetic sparks began. Dawn awoke in a castle and was grateful and thankful and scared as to why the help and who was her benefactor. He introduced himself with his real name, but she called him Domi for short. Coming together was fiery and sexy, it also led to words spoken and declared and chaos and war begins. This was filled with a lot of new paranormal characters and Dawn fights to live, while Domi fights to save and protect his Family and more. I found it to be Worth reading, look forward to Uriel/Kalifa and Mr. O'shea ‼🔥💋💙

I am always here for a dominant hero story, and this gave me exactly that. Make the hero a vampire and I’m officially in reader heaven.
It was a little confusing at the beginning with trying to understand Domi’s personality. He’s described as severe and unmoving and later makes jokes and appears to use dry humor often.
There are moments where the author breaks the fourth wall and, while I don’t mind it, I do think it should serve the story arc in some way. There are moments when it’s confusing as to what Dawn the character knows. Eventually, we find out that Dawn learns of Domi being a vampire much later in the story.
I enjoyed the action, and though the story arc could have been fleshed out a little better, overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Vampire, Shifters, Elves, Fairies, Goddess and a Dragon Oh My
This over the top story had it all. I actually enjoyed the story. It had alot of moving parts so you had to keep up. If you enjoy Fantasy then this book has it all: Vampires, Elves, Fairies, Wolf & Lion Shifters, Archangels and a Dragon.
This story was all over the place but Domi The Vampire King was a mean, sadistic monster and that all changed when he found his mate. He was still mean and sadistic but he found a reason for living as well as the family he never knew he wanted or needed. Dawn was everything he could have asked for and more. Although he was still pretty sadistic in the end. I'm looking to Part 2 The Demon King & I. Since being the Demon King is Domi's ultimate goal.

Feeling alone and despondent, with a fight that still stands the test of time (will power) to overcome adversity when all one wants to do is let go; however Dawn was rescued by her future but had no clue…
Domi has lived thousand of years at this point and is self-absorbed…
Domi heard a piercing cry and thought,”why should I involve myself?”
But Domi relented and help his destiny unbeknownst to him…
Two different realms collide, can Domi and Dawn endure…
Enter jealous parties (Avery and Uriel) and the climatic atmosphere would burn hot then abruptly change to freezing temperatures…
Plot was great and easy to follow…
Will the entity at the airport have a book or was that just a premonition of what’s right around the corner and waiting…

Twilight meets Game of Thrones
This was an okay read. Too many typos. The author needs a good editor.
The plot reminded me too much of Twilight- Breaking Dawn. The whole vampire pregnancy and the fetus sucking the life out of the human mother, while the vampire father tries to end the pregnancy against the mother’s will.
Then you have the GOT elements of dragons, Faeries and other mythical creatures!
There was a love scene that was so gross! I usually love vampire romance, but this one was a tad bit too graphic. And sometimes Domi’s way of showing his love was just too over the top and far fetched.
Clean up all the toys and this book could be a solid 4 out of 5.

Good but missing something
I enjoy this authors writing style and the book was good but something was lacking. Domi in my opinion was lacking alpha tendencies and came across more as a just N average guy with money. Dawn was the same, there is more to their back story and honestly have no idea what Domi looks like. The story gave just enough to keep you there but not enough to make it gripping. The story just needs more depth. Good read just not up to par with the other books in this series.

Another amazing book by an amazing author
Again this author did not disappoint with another amazing page-turning read! They way she creates her world where all her characters interact keeps my pleasantly happy to stay in contact with all the beloved characters from all of her books. It’s like one big world where we can continue to see how the lives of our favorite characters continues on. This book is amazing and the storyline riveting and exciting. I can’t wait for this author’s next book!

I need to catch my breath
Vampires, Angels, Fae, Dragons, Wolf and Lion Shifters, and an Unknown Human who is not quite human, an unknown.
This is paranormal at it’s best, and a complete hang on to your seat, have some tissues handy, and some hot and heavy sexy scenes.
I’m reeling right now as I process. An amazing read, very well written, and I couldn’t be more happy while waiting for the next book.

Loved it
I felt like this may have been Rose Marie’s best work, that’s not saying that I don’t like her other books but The Vampire King and I was just simply in a lane of it’s own. I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end, everything unfolded so beautifully. I was happy to see that Camden from His obsession was mentioned here. It was short but nevertheless I like it.
I look forward to reading Uriah’s story. He is the definition of the saying “hurt people,hurt people” .
Well done to this author.

There's always two sides to a story
This book was amazing, I really didn't know what to expect starting out with this book but I'm so glad I gave it a read. Talk about crazy love, every one loved in their own way, some right others wrong. Who are we to judge. The problem with Vengeance is, it's a cycle that's continuous and when you piss off the wrong people...Well you get another book hopefully lol. I don't want to put in any spoilers but let me just say, I thought this was an amazingly beautiful book.

this was sooooo different that why I had to give…..
My first time giving Rose a four star rating but don’t let that stop me or giving her my loyalty and respect for her books and her braiding style. This book has so many great adventures complications in the storyline because I kept thinking how the book off low. It is low I just never thought it would be different from all the other books I have read it from her. By far this book is good I’m not knocking it I just expected more in a book but overall is the closest hands-down awesome. I can’t wait for the next read!!!
