Mythically Royal #1

The Merman Prince’s Daddy

Rate this book
I swam from my future only to find my daddy.

Alpha wolf shifter Alton heard the call of the sea from his pack’s territory in the mountains. Yet it’s only in the wake of his father’s death that he follows destiny’s current to the shoreline. While his soul finds peace during the day, listening to the gently lapping waves, at night his dreams are haunted by long suppressed memories.

Through those flashes of moments long forgotten, Alton realizes he’s there for more than a new start. It’s up to him to right the wrongs of the past…

As next in line for the throne, omega merman Merrik’s entire life has been arranged for him. Which means an alpha has been chosen for him. Unfortunately, even the idea of this mating makes Merrik’s skin crawl. That leaves him with only one choice: leave his underwater kingdom and cross his fingers the whole situation blows over.

Little does he know, fate has other plans. No sooner do his toes sink into the sand, than Merrik feels the unmistakable pull of the mate bond. The fact that it’s to a human would have been shocking enough, but to a smexy wolf bearing the mark of the forbidden ones is downright scandalous. His father may never forgive him, yet Merrik can’t deny he aches for Alton’s touch. Can the love they share rewrite their peoples’ sordid history? Or will it come crashing down like white-capped waves on a rocky shoreline?

The Merman Prince’s Daddy is the first book in the Mythically Royal series featuring princes who find their happily ever after. The Merman Prince’s Daddy features a merman who’d rather not be prince, a shifter who didn’t know mermen were real, an underwater kingdom that rivals Atlantis, adorable babies, and a first-time royal heat. If you love your omegas mythical, all things mermen, hawt daddies who adore taking care of their omegas, shifters, your mpreg with heart, and true love, this series by the popular co-author team of Lorelei M. Hart and Colbie Dunbar is for you.

The Wolf and the Mer . . .

Alpha wolf shifter Alton heard the call of the sea from his pack’s territory in the mountains and finds peace in the gentle sound of waves on the shoreline. As next in line for the throne, omega merman Merrik’s life has always been arranged for him without his input. Now an alpha has been chosen for him, but the selection repulses him. He leaves his underwater kingdom rather than deal with the situation directly.

But when Merrik walks onto the shore, the mate bond pulls at him, and he finds a wolf with the mark above his knee of the forbidden ones. History said that after the war with the wolves, the merfolk cursed those wolves so that every descendant of those who fought against them would have that birthmark going forward and could not hide their identity. Will Merrik give in to his attraction, despite how he knows his father will react? Or is the mate bond too strong to resist? Will their love be what rights the wrongs of the past?

For the record, I hate the “Daddy” and spanking which ruined this a bit for me. But I did like how they had a history to relate explaining the animosity. Will Alton and Merrick’s destiny be to reunite them? Or will it bring another war worse than the original? Grab your copy and find out what the future holds.

”Merrik, have you been smoking seaweed again?”
“No.”
It had gotten me into plenty of trouble in the past, though.
“Please tell me this isn’t like the tentacle incident.”
“No.”
I hated that he remembered that. Though it was an unforgettable night on my part.

This was the peak of this book for me. The ‘tentacle incident’ only referenced, made me cackle.

As for the rest? Meh. All tell, no show. Should have been like 150 pages well over 300. Chemistry between MMCs was kinda lacking…

BUT the merman was cheeky, sneaky to get spanked, and called his mate daddy right of the bat so…. fvck it. 3⭐️

**ARC Review**

I get real excited when these two authors team up with a new series. Their unique matchups what makes it worthwhile. With this one...merman and wolf and the whole forbidden love story...a treat. The omega prince Merrick was a delight...a brat who loves to be punished. He really needs a Daddy and he got that with his fated mate Alton. When these two finally meet up...straight entertainment...these two were really meant for each other...their chemistry is instant along with the love. I love how things ended and as always the bundle of joy at the end was special. Hope we still get to see them in the upcoming books because they left a wonderful impression.

A mixed bag for me
Alpha Wolf shifter Alton had a decision to make whether to stay with a pack or try and escape. There was only one thing holding him back and once he no longer had him he knew he had to follow his heart and find his true mate. Alton packed up a few books That his omega father had left him and ran he knew he had to get to the ocean.
Omega merman Merrik was the son of the King and as a prince and heir to the throne his father had his life planned out even to the point of finding him a mate. But Merrik had been dreaming about his mate and the merman in front of him was not his alpha. Merrick needed to decide what he wanted most and he followed his heart and left the kingdom.
As soon as these two met the chemistry was right there. Merrick found the alpha he wanted. Merrick was a bit bratty And Alton was the man who knew how to treat him. But they had a lot to overcome could a merman and Wolf shifter really come together and be as one?? Would the Alpha that Merrik’s father give up??
This is a mixed bag for me really because I found myself drifting away from the story which is very unlike me with a Lorelei M Hart and Colbie Dunbar book. I think it was because I didn’t take to the main characters and it wasn’t that merrik was bratty or I don’t know I I just felt like something was missing but I will definitely read the second book in the series.

Two of my favorite paranormals- wolf shifters and mermen.. in the same book.. and it's a m/m romance?! *swoon* It's a pairing I never knew I needed lol I liked the premise and the main characters. When they were together though. I don't know. Merman Merrick acted kind of immature at times for someone that just turned twenty-five. Their first meeting wasn't what I expected, and while I know Merrick wants a daddy, him suddenly calling Alton "Daddy" like it was normal practically just after meeting felt a little awkward. Their relationship grew on me though and of course I was rooting for them the whole way. 4 stars.

Thoroughly enjoyed Alton and Merrik's story the way fate brought them together. Hoping they would fix the war that started years ago.
Alton being a wolf shifter decided to turn his back on the pack after his father's death. He had had dreams about his true mate waiting for him by the ocean.
Prince Marrik , a merman, runs away from the mate his father has presented to him. He was not the mate from his dreams. He decides to leave the ocean and find his mate on the land.
Loved how their relationship was built on friendship first. But they have many obstacles to get through to get their happy ever after.
I received an advanced copy of this book for a honest review

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thought this book was okay. I’ve really enjoyed reading Colbie Dunbar and Lorelei M Hart’s Dates of Our Lives Series and Merrik was featured in Matched to His Fox which I’ve just finished reading, so I thought I’d give this series a go. I didn’t find it as good as that series and this book just seemed to miss the mark for me. I think that Alton and Merrik’s relationship wend at warp speed, as there didn’t seem to be any build up. Considering how there’s really bad history between Alton’s birth pack of Moon Mountain and Merrik’s home/kingdom of Crystal Cove that they would’ve been more wary of each other when they first met, even though they felt their instant connection to each other. I enjoyed that there was some drama for the couple and forces trying to keep them apart but I thought that it was resolved way too quickly. Alton and Merrik balance each other out. Alton is the firm but caring hand that Merrik needs in his life. I enjoyed that this book has a merman, as it’s different than the usual shifter or human that’s usually featured in these types of books. Even though this book wasn’t my favourite I’m still going to read Lance’s story next. I’d definitely recommend both authors to everyone.

Sweet omegaverse love story with lots of smiles, sighs, heat, it just leaves you biting your nails what the two protagonists are going to do!
They couldn't be much more different: a Merman and a Wolf, but if this wasn't enough, their folks are in a historical war. And their both's lingering dreams and desires to find out what is missing, their search for the warm, perfect world, where everything is right, it made me feel like being a part of it.
Merrik, the Merman Prince is such a sassy but cute young man, meeting Alton, who is stumbling across his Alpha-way to find his destiny.
I loved the description of the wonderful world hidden deep down in the sea, so beautifully constructed.
Read the story to watch them dealing with it. Of course it is a happy ending, but how they get there, it was such an entertaining treat to read! And such a surprise coming out of it in the end! I could just read it a second time right away!
I can only recommend this sweet lovestory to all lovers of omegaverse novels and some heartmelting mpreg stories.
I received this book for free but leave a review freely and voluntarily because I absolutely enjoyed reading it.

The Merman Prince's Daddy is Book 1 in the Mythically Royal series. I love this wonderfully written story with it's beautiful cover. I love this world and all the different shifters that live there. In this book we get more of the town's history and why the Moon Mountain wolf pack and the merfolk of Crystal Cove don't get along. After the death of Alton's father he leaves his pack to seek out the ocean that has been calling to him in his dreams. When Prince Merrik's intended mate is presented to him he knows this is not his true mate and refuses him. Merrik then leaves his underwater home to go to the surface to find his true mate. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions as Alton and Merrik find a way to be together without having to hide. It was great seeing other characters that I've grown to love and can't wait for more. Definitely recommend.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Sometimes, you have to step out of your bubble. Approaching his 25th birthday, Alton needed to decide if he would pledge fealty to his pack. The only thing holding him, was his omega Dad. His Dad was frail, missing his alpha mate and aware of the precarious circumstances. Alton, was always curious about, "out there". He felt the call of the sea and didn't know shy. When his Dad passed, he made his decision and left. He was aware of pack secrets, he just didn't know what they were. Merrik, was a sassy merperson who dreamed of his true alpha mate. When his Dad, the King procured an arranged alpha mate, Merrik knew he was not his true mate and it was time to go look for the mate of whom he was always dreaming. So, Merrik escaped to the surface. He ended up in the same place as Alton. They recognized each other as mates, but struggled with the wolf/merman enemies dilemma. Do they commit and mate? Are they able to uncover the secrets of their shared history? Does Merrik's Dad disinherit him? Great world building. Nice foundation for a series. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unique shifter pairing

This was a unique shifter pairing. You don't often see a land shifter with a water shifter, but wow was this story exciting. I loved that both Alton and Merrik felt this call for each other through dreams and just feeling it in their hearts. I enjoyed the Romeo and Juliet angstiness of the plot. Can these two unlikely groups of shifters come together finally, or will another war keep them apart? Merrik is such a brat for his Daddy and I loved every moment. Alton is a great daddy, tender and knows exactly what his boy needs. I really liked all the supporting shifter characters as well, and am looking forward to their future stories.

Merfolk

First, I have to say I thought of Scooby Doo and Mystery Inc. as it is also set in Crystal Cove. Now, this book is good but I did have a much harder time connecting with the MC's than I ever have with these authors. I am not sure why but Merrick was kind of annoying to me and Alton just didn't have a lot of spark. Part of the book really threw me for a loop with Alton's lack of knowledge with an omega heat. Overall it is a good book with an interesting story between the mer people and the wolves. Now it's time to wait for the bear and the vampire!

ACR Review
The story can be read, but it disappointed me a bit. The truth, the prologue invites a more genuine and deep plot, in the end it is only about misunderstandings and the situation is resolved without much drama. Another failure of the author in my opinion is that of the palace as an air bubble, for me it is not very credible. I know it's a fantasy book and the authors are supposed to have a free hand, but I think consistency is important. I would have believed more like a lost island like that of the Greek mermaids, shrouded in mist where whoever approaches is lost, to explain that mermaids need land. The truth is that my scientific part continues to think that the author forgot about the pressure on the seabed, although the magic is fantastic, I want something plausible in what I read.

Meh … Just Erotica

This is poorly developed shifter based erotica with dominant daddy themes and lots of random associations. There is minimal character or storyline development and by the halfway point I had lost any interest in the book. Neither MC acts in a manner appropriate for their given age and there is an unreasonable amount of blended human/shifter knowledge and technology considering how “hidden” shifters claim to be. This book is best left on the shelf.

Merman

This was a great adventure. I enjoy merman stories so much and this was one with a wonderful new plot. I enjoyed the way the storyline has a interesting and exciting flow it brings everything were it needs to be. Alton is a prince and most be married so he goes to shore. Merrik is a wolf shifter and goes were he is being called. Theses two are perfectly matched and bring goodness back to there people. This story has a HEA and I can’t wait to read book two.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It has a bit of classic R & J theme but with a much better ending. Alton and Merrick are both twenty-five and are being drawn together. If they went with their teachings, they wouldn't get together but htey trust their own feelings and instincts. While there is some elements that would stop them, Alton and Merrick triumph over it all and bring the truth of their shared people's history to light.

THE TRUTH TRUMPS A PACK OF LIES

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Alton is an alpha wolf shifter who is unhappy with his pack. Merrik is the omega prince of the mer kingdom and next in line to the throne. Alton and Merrik dream of each other and know the smell of their fated mate. This story follows the path of Romeo and Juliet with an added twist. A great story by the duo and still one to make people believe in the art of communication.

Was ok

Was ok to read there really wasn’t much of a conflict in the book I think there were just a lot of misunderstanding between the protagonist and antagonist. It was an instant love story and I felt like there just wasn’t enough character development on both ends. Just wished there had been more of a bigger climax and background build up for the characters.

This was a cute and fun story. I feel like it ran a little slow in some places, but overall I enjoyed it. I mean who doesn't love a merman with a daddy kink?
