He needs a distraction, she needs a boyfriend, faking it should be easy…

What’s worse than being dateless for your high school reunion?

Getting demoted and finding out your ex-boyfriend is getting married.

The ex-boyfriend who dumped you a month ago.

I want to crawl under a rock and hide.

I sure as hell don’t want to go to a reunion in Niagara Falls.

The last thing I need is to hear how successful everyone else is.

But when my new neighbor, Nikau catches me crying in the laundry room he makes me an offer I’m not sure I can refuse.

Nikau, Nik for short, is the sex-on-legs rugby-playing New Zealander I've secretly been crushing on.

He’s flirty, cocky, reckless, impulsive and from what I’ve heard he parties hard.

I should know better than to get involved with someone who behaves so badly.

But he says he can help.

All I have to do is trust him and we’ll rock the reunion and make my ex jealous.

Our fake dating should have ended the night after the reunion.

But before I know it, his plan has worked a little too well and I'm in deep, deep trouble...

Kinsey just got dumped and demoted and is not looking forward to her high school reunion which will feature bullies and mean girls. She likes none of those people and the prudent thing would be just skip it but I guess it's a closure thing. Her new neighbor Nikau is a hot rugby player who offers to be her fake date to the reunion. Kinsey wants to resist his charms, as he is going to leave the country soon anyway and she thinks he is a badly behaved heartbreaker who has a different girl for every finger. Nikau has some conflicted feelings about what he wants to do in the future. At the reunion there is some trouble, because of course there is.

I was entertained but there is a note from the author that warns the reader that Nikau's sense of humor may be offensive to some readers. I guess I am not one of those readers since I could not identify the part in which I was supposed to be offended. Nikau is from New Zealand and there is a bit of a language barrier between the couple as Kinsey needs his regionalisms explained to her a little too often. I did not feel like many of those required a translation so it interrupted the natural flow of the dialogue and sometimes made Kinsey appear a little dense. Words like mate and dunking seem common enough and to me f*ckwit is pretty self-explanatory, but your mileage may vary. The point of view is alternating his and hers, changing in the middle of chapters.

Contains sex, violence and drug use by minor characters.

Kinsey and Nik's Story . . .

Kinsey had made plans to use her high school reunion to finally show the bullies from school that she is successful. With her demotion at work and her ex-boyfriend engaged to marry someone else, she doesn’t have much to show to anyone! She sits in the laundry room crying at her embarrassing situation and her new neighbor Nikau (“Nik”) hears her. He is a sexy rugby player from New Zealand and coaches at a Miami university through the next month. His offer to go with her as her date for the reunion in Niagara Falls is perfect! Will things go well, however? Or will no one believe her relationship with the handsome athlete is real?

This was a fun story line. I must admit that I always enjoy these harmless “payback” books where the ill-treated heroine can get a bit of justice and an awesome date. It’s even better when they can fall in love for real, but you will have to read their story to get the details and some laughter. Nik also needed the time to make some final decisions about his own future. So this worked out for both of them. It wasn’t a smooth ride, of course, but that’s part of the fun of getting to know someone under all kinds of conditions.

One persons bad behavior is another persons sexy perfection

Bad Behavior is the fourth book in the Bad for Me series and is the story of Kinsey and Nikau "Nik". This story is a fun filled mash-up of cultures, fake romance, old friends, a high school reunion, the heat of Miami, a non-stop party and girls, and something that becomes much too real, or at least it feels that way. I really loved Nik as he is such a fun character, especially as I know quite a few fun loving and "feral" Kiwi's. Kinsey I liked but I did find myself wanting to smuck her upside her head a few times regarding her behavior about her ex Brody and how hung up she still was, even after he was such a butthead. But I still got it as it was still a fresh wound to her heart and soul. But the girl was offered the perfect way to get over it....a big, handsome, built, super sexy man who has a wicked smile and an even more wicked sense of humor!

*Spoilers*
I was worried at the beginning of the book because of the Author’s Note and having Kiwi language in the book. I shouldn’t have been!! Nikau made this book by far my favorite so far from Lexi Hart!!

I absolutely loved all the comic relief that Nikau provided because of the language differences. The fact that Kinsey and Nikau were so completely opposites, but were very attracted to one another was beautiful!

The sweet revenge that Kinsey finally obtained right after the reunion is something I would like to be able to do as well. Lol

This book was beautifully written and I really look forward to seeing more Kiwi characters in the future!!

Please make sure you read the tiny little addition available on Book Funnel for another chapter or two after the book is finished. It is worth the extra 20 minutes of your time.

I would say this book is more about recovery from events which took place over 10 years ago than getting over being dumped by a your boyfriend and finding a new lover. Kinsey, was clearly bullied when she was at school, now her boyfriend has dumped her just before they were going to a school reunion. Nikau, a rugby player from New Zealand offers to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend. Its quite a drawn out story which at times I felt hindered the flow. Some of what Kinsey doesn't make much sense, but it does add to some of drama which unfolds. Nikau for me was very over the top, whilst he's a player who has been with several women (usually one night stands) so again connecting the dots with what unfolds between him and Kinsey seems at times a bit false, but again its part of the drama. The ending was a bit sudden although some of the mystery surrounding Nikau is revealed, you really need a bit of an epilouge to closs some of the threads.

Nikau is sexy as sin and ass flirty as a Vegas dancer, but he eventually proves he’s got aa heart of gold and although he may have been a player in the past can be a real standup person with the right motivation. Poor Kinsey doesn’t know if she’s coming or going with all the bad things that have happened to her in the last few weeks and now she has her sexy neighbour offering her a favour, how can it be real? She is so self deprecating that she just doesn’t trust what’s happening. Nikau will have some work to do to get to see what he does. Emotions and scenarios felt real and gave an inside view of what it’s like to be the unpopular girl in High Schools Schools School. Beautifully written with emotion, heat and a bit of sass.

Imagine looking forward to your high school reunion so you can stick it to the mean girls. The bullys that tormented you and made life unbearable. Imagine all the work you've put into your career, your fiance and yourself, you've successfully succeeded in life. (I know, but I like a good oxymoron. 😱). Now, imagine that right before this reunion, your fiance breaks up with you and gets engaged to someone else right away (douchebag)? Imagine you've also just got demoted at your job as well. Hmmm, hello mean girls, hit me with your best shot. Now, in this scenario add in a steamy, sexy, gorgeous rugby player who offers to go as your fake boyfriend. Check yes or yes please? Now...what could possibly go wrong? This is such a great series. But, for a better reading experience, I'd start at book one. I mean, why take a taste of your favorite dessert when you an have a full serving?

Sweet and a little sad at the same time!

This book deals with a sensitive subject and more common that you may think: the way to deal with problems with over-eating, that will lead to overweight, low self esteem and bullying.
This is the foundation of Kinsey’s story.
And after all this happened in high school, the impeding 10 years reunion doesn’t do anything good for her. And her boyfriend dumping her, either.

From this, the story can go only upward. And is sweet and funny, and a little sad here and there.
An entertaining read, with wonderful characters - both Kinsey and Nikau, but also Reese and Mal - becouse what people be without friends?
Heartwelming!

Kinsey needed a date for her high school reunion because her ex was going with his new woman. As a last resort, and because he offered, neighbor Nikau went with her.
This was great, fun, spiteful, sarcastic and just witty. I adored the dialogue between Kinsey and Nikau who just sparred off against each other for much of the book. She didn't want him but she did. He wanted her to give in so that push pull went on throughout the book, which was delicious to read.
Lexi Hart writes a story filled with charismatic characters in unique and delightful situations, that just involved me as the reader. I loved it!!!

This was a fun story of opposites attract and getting revenge on the high school bullies. Kinsey is busy having a pity party after being dumped by her boyfriend, not getting the promotion at work that was hers and having a high school reunion looming on the horizon. When the resident good time neighbor volunteers to be her fake plus one, she agrees knowing she will make everyone finally take notice. She never takes into account his feelings, dreams or situation until it's almost too late. Nikau wasn't just in the US to have a good time, but to decide the direction of his life. I liked the story because who hasn't thought about bad the teenage years were and wanting to prove something. However, it is a book geared more toward the NA reader.

Kinsey didn't see it coming, her boyfriend of 2 years decides to dump her just before the reunion, and now she will have to face her former tormentors, and it will seem that she wasn't as successful as others were. Luckily the party boy neighbour Nikau, decides that he will help her out. Kinsey can't believe her luck, with the sexy rugby playing NZ as her fake boyfriend, it just might work. Nikau can be blunt, but he has a good heart and I couldn't help but love him. I loved Kinsey too, she has certainly had quite a few knocks in life, but still is trying. Their romance pulled me in, I loved their passion, and their story had me laughing.

Klare Leseempfehlung!

Good romance
4.5
I loved the characters of Kinsey and his New Zealand rugby player' neighbor, Nikau. Their relationship, from the start, is balanced by small spikes, jousting in their behavior. He doesn't know if he's going to stay, she has just been dumped: neither of them seem to be available for a long relationship, but Nikau agrees to pose as her fake new boyfriend to help her out.
The story is tender, sometimes hot, well written, and while part of the narrative is predictable, the story remains gripping. I liked the insertions of the New Zealand expressions.

Lexi’s book are always awesome!
I enjoy every minute of them.
I think this is her best book yet, the story spoke to me on so many levels, I loved it.
Nikau is the best, especially when he first met Chrissy and he pretends to be Kinsey’s fake boyfriend, I laughed so much.
The only thing that bothered me throughout the story was the constant withdrawal of Kinsey, she was just so insecure and I really wished she had the bravery of her friend Reese.
The side characters like Reese and Mal made the story funnier.
A nice read!

This story was quite fun to read and it is also well written. The storyline is good and the characters are so fabulous. One of the leading characters is taking us on a journey through the memories of high school and the difficulties many live during that time and what can follow until adult years. I felt it is actually quite realistic. Overall the story is well worthy of the fantastic four stars I am giving it here.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Kinsey and Nikau and does not let go. She has been betrayed, demoted and still needs to go to her ten year class reunion. When Nik finds her crying, he offers to help by pretending to be her boyfriend for the reunion. What happens when feelings become involved? Can they move beyond their pasts? The story pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages, hoping their can have their well earned happily ever after.

Kinsey's ex left her a month ago and is now getting married to someone else. This leaves her in the predicament of attending her high school reunion on her own. Luckily her neighbour, Nikau, comes to her rescue and the steam just carries them along between laughing and longing until both capitulate.
I just didn't want to put the book down or for it to end. Is this the best of Lexi - not yet. Every book just gets better and better. I could hear the Kiwi accent come through Nikau's words and just made my toes curl.

What a fun story with lots of New Zealand slang.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
Kinsey life is a hot mess. She didn't get the promotion she should have. Her boyfriend of 2 years dumped her and is engaged to another woman already. Oh and her class reunion is next weekend.
Nikau doesn't know what his future holds and he isn't ready to decide yet. Being in America was supposed to help him. He never expected a woman to be the thing that changes everything.
Loved the catty women, and Nik's and Kinsey's best friends.
Great read!

Kinsey was recently dumped by her long term boyfriend and has just learnt he is engaged. She spent all of her savings paying for a trip to her reunion coming up thinking she would be going with Brody. Her friend suggests getting him out of her system by getting under someone new. Her conversation is overheard by Nikau who lives in her building and is well known for his partying. He soon offers to be a stand in for her reunion and can’t help thinking it could be more.
Sweet story that has a great happy ending.

This is a brilliant book. I loved the flavor that having an NZ main character lent to the story. I don’t think it would have been as dynamic any other way.
The author has a warning in the front of the story about the NZ MC being rough around the edges, but I don’t think it’s necessary. He is just a man that’s authentic and real.. and real charming too! Nothing wrong with that!

This story is so good, it’s one of my favourite of this series! I love fake relationships and definitely loved this one! Kelsey and Nikau are perfect together. and I enjoyed the road trip they took together.
I could’ve read about this couple for hours more, so it’s good to know there is this bonus epilogue for newsletter subscribers. A great addition to the story!

I loved how cocky and impulsive Nikau is! He’s the perfect good, bad boy to Kinsey’s straight-laced good girl! Their chemistry was a slow burn through most of the book-each not wanting to take a chance and be heartbroken.
