This is an awesome read. The characters are awesome, chemistry is off the charts hot and sizzling, easy read, fast paced, page turner, flirting, entertaining, drama, secrets, apologies and a second chance at an HEA all the makings of buy “One More Second Chance” you will not be disappointment.

Phoenix’s sister Savannah is getting married Jaxon on the beautiful island of Fiji. Jaxon and Carter are cousins and Carter was once Phoenix’s fiancé. Carter walked away from Phoenix the day before they were to get married, because he didn’t want to hurt her after receiving some information he want to happy to receive. He tried several times over the years to talk to Phoenix but she was not interested. The love Carter and Phoenix shared is still hot and sizzling.

Will Phoenix finally put her guards down and listen to Carter, will she understand, will she forgive him, will they both get the second chances that they both need to heal on the beautiful island of Fiji and have their HEA. Second chance to love again. I thoroughly enjoyed Phoenix and Carter's story. Although a stand alone it reminded me of Intimate Negotiations because of the family ties between Carter Blackwell and his brother Ethan (who was a lead character in Intimate Negotiations). The chemistry between Phoenix and Carter is there from the beginning. I love how they reconnected and tried maneuver through their feelings to be cordial around each other. Reality and love plays a major role once back from Phoenix's sister's wedding in Fiji. Carter and Phoenix must evaluate their future and where they see each other playing a part in it. Nicki knows how to pull the reader in and make them want more.

Here We Go Again

Phoenix starts out making sure her sister has the perfect wedding in Fiji, however anger, secrets, miscommunications follow Carter and Phoenix back to Brooklyn, New York. The story read like a movie with you screaming at the characters. Well written with a sexiness that plays out in conversation. Book # 2 in the Blackwells of New York series was on point, I am looking forward to book # 3.

I really enjoyed Phoenix and Carter’s story. Their chemistry was undeniable and there definitely was no love lost regardless of their time apart. If you’re looking for a good read involving drama, secrets and second chances I recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next installment.

OMG! This story was Everything. Carter and Phoenix's chemistry was amazing, I could feel it coming thru the pages. Carter trying to do the right thing and Phoenix not wanting to listen to what he had to stay kept them from being together. This book really shows you that communication is an important key in a relationship. It was great to catch up with Ethan and Zoe. Phoenix mama was a piece of work. I would love to know how Jaxon and Savannah met. I really enjoyed this book. Can't wait to see what Blackwell is up next.

Reviewed at Happily Ever After Romance

One More Second Chance continues the Blackwells of New York series with a couple who absolutely broke my heart at times and eventually healed it back again… but not before they go through a lot of heartaches, confessions, and redefining what love means to them.

At one time Carter and Phoenix had a bright future ahead of them, deeply in love they had every reason to believe that their happily ever after was within reach. Until Carter called off the wedding the night before and destroyed Phoenix in ways she’s still recovering from five years later. Now, they’re being reunited through the wedding of loved ones, but each equally determined to avoid any contact — until fate, and an endangered pregnancy takes that option away from their control. As best man and maid of honor at her sister’s destination wedding, Phoenix has no choice but to let Carter back into, at least, the edges of her life once again. But, it’s going to hurt so badly to do so.

I loved this couple. And I ached for them in so many ways which I cannot go into because that would involve spoilers and you really need to experience One More Second Chance for yourself in order for the impact of this story to touch your heart, as it will. It’s obvious early on that there is still passion between Phoenix and Carter, after all, dislike is an emotion, right? But for all that Phoenix declares that she’s over what happened between them, it isn’t really far from her thoughts especially now with Carter right there all the time.

Watching this couple acknowledge mistakes of the past, open themselves up to the passion that still exists between them, and finally give each other the gift of the absolute truth about everything, no holding back this time, was an emotional journey filled with laughter, tears, sizzling chemistry, and believable characters throughout the story from main characters to the slightest secondary interaction. I was happy to see their perfect ending but also didn’t want their story to end. I had such a good time back in this world, and with a bit of an update on a previous couple as well. If you love a romance that will draw you in, hold you captive, and give you a unique happy couple, eventually, then One More Second Chance should be on your reading list.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Phoenix Jones's sister is getting married in Fiji. A few day's before it's time to go the company Phoenix works for tells everyone they are relocating to California. And needs an answer in 6 weeks. Carter Blackwell is Phoenix's ex-fiance and also in the wedding. Carter is stressing about telling his dad he's leaving the family business. I enjoyed reading One More Second Chance. The story just flowed. It was well written with characters that are keeping secrets from the past. I loved this book and the cover is beautiful!!

The H broke up with h ahead of their wedding because his on again and off again relationship with his backup girlfriend lead to an unexpected pregnancy. They build out their past romance as an amazing love story. Where is the love when the H has always had a backup girlfriend throughout the course of his entire relationship with h. The whole thing is just air brushed out and the h feels guilty about not sharing about the baby when the H breaks off their wedding a day before and gets back with his backup girlfriend and accepts culpability for their relationship breakdown.

The whole backstory is shared as the H and h meet up for h’s sister and H’s cousin’s wedding. They resume a secret affair that leads to a hasty conclusion without any character development and relies just on nostalgia about a “love that got away”.

Even worse, the H pulls strings and doesn’t always communicate and then pulls the rug under at the the last minute time and time again. He ditches his dad’s firm where he is been working his entire life after lining up an investor who is an associate of his father’s and postpones discussion when things are thrown at him!

There are lots of plot twists which could have lead to brilliant character development but none of them are leveraged but instead the H is always lucky and things play out exactly as he wants it. He ditches his investor, he gets yet another second chance. He disappoints dad, his dad still supports him. He doesn’t even make reparations for his h’s family’s financial loss after he ditched h 5 years ago and he still gets away with that as well! This H can’t ever lose, its everyone around him who will always be left picking up the pieces. Good luck to the h’s family and hope they dont tell her I told you so when she goes crying to them in a decade or two after a bigger heartbreak.

One More Second Chance by Nicki Night is an amazing book! The cover of this book drew me in. After reading the first few pages, I was drawn in and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it! One More Second Chance is the 2nd book in The Blackwells of New York series. This series is just getting better and better with each book.
One More Second Chance is the second chance love story of Phoenix Jones and Carter Blackwell. Phoenix has a successful career working for the technology firm Aida and Carter works for his family’s business Blackwell Wealth Investment. Phoenix and Carter were engaged to be married when Carter called the wedding off without telling Phoenix the reason why.
Now five years later, Phoenix and Carter see each other again when Phoenix’s sister Savannah and Carter’s cousin Jaxon are set to have a destination wedding on the island of Fiji. Phoenix finds out that she has to walk down the aisle with Carter as he has taken the place of Ethan as the best man to Jaxon. When Phoenix and Carter see each other for the first time, you can see that the chemistry was still strong between them. Will Phoenix give Carter the chance to tell her the reason he called their wedding off? Will the pair give in to the sizzling hot chemistry that is between them? Will Phoenix and Carter get their second chance at love? You will have to read One More Second Chance by Nicki Night to find out!
What I loved about this book were the storyline and the drama! The storyline flowed so seamlessly and it kept me on the edge of my seat to the point that I had to continue reading to see what happened next. I love how Nicki Night put all the drama in this book. When I thought I knew what was going to happen next, Nicki threw a surprise up in there! The love scenes were so sizzling hot and spicy. Carter was my favorite character in this book. I loved how he didn’t give up in his quest to apologize to Phoenix. I can’t wait for the next book in this series because I want to see what the author has up her sleeve.

Good read

This was a good read. The characters were well developed and likeable (those that were supposed to be). What lowered my rating was the timing/pacing of the book. This happens to be one of my pet peeves. In the beginning of the book her boss says she has one month to make a decision she s gone r the wedding for almost two weeks and after returning, even with the extended deadline the mount of time passage doesn’t add up. There is an additional secondary story line about a baby that also doesn’t add up . (To prevent spoilers I will not elaborate). Overall I enjoyed this book and recommended it to others.

Carter and Phoenix broke up the night before their wedding five years ago. They end up together at a family destination wedding. This was a great second chance romance. The characters are believable and strong. Many of their issues could have been prevented with better communication. As always - here for the fictional drama and some time escaping my brain. Looking forward to other Nicki Night books!

Carter Blackwell was given a second chance with Phoenix Jones when they were part of a friends destination wedding. They had unfinished business to clear up. Carter and Phoenix had been abou to get married when things went horribly wrong for them. Due to lack os communication between the two of they broke up on the eve of their wedding even though they still loved each other. Their being at their friends wedding got them to talk to each other and reunite.

I was not privileged to have read the first edition of the book, but i am so glad I read this story. There was a romance element with ties to the history between the two main characters that made the story that much better. There were all kinds of surprises that I was not expecting. This was such a good story, and I can't wait to read what's next from this author.

If It's real

Phoenix wouldn't listen to Carter when he said he couldn't marry her, a was wedding ruined, a bride hurt and the humiliation. Now they are ready to forgive and give their love a chance. Can they? Loved it.

I enjoyed reading this book. This book did have a bit of a slow start for me. It did eventually pick up and got very interesting. The story was decent it was a nice quick read once things picked up. However, I am glad that I went ahead and finished the book.

A good read, especially if you like the Desire line in general. I didn’t warm to most of the characters, myself. Phoenix should have taken her chance at a new start out west imo.
