From Amazon bestselling author Buck Turner comes the story of Jayce Callahan, a small town Sheriff with big secrets.
When he was eighteen, Jayce was the only witness to a murder that shook the town of Silver Falls to its core. Not long after the police found the body, Jayce received a letter telling him to keep quiet or else. Scared for his life and the lives of those he cared about, Jayce decided to leave town and never come back.
Sixteen years later, Jayce has the perfect life - a good job, fifty acres of Virginia mountainside, and a golden lab named Camo. For the first time in his life, things are going according to plan, but that all changes when a letter arrives by special delivery informing him of his mother's death. Hoping things have changed, Jayce takes a chance and returns to Silver Falls to settle his mother's estate. What awaits him is anything but a warm welcome.

This is the 3rd book I’ve read by this author and they keep getting worse. The 1st was one of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. The second was nothing but an almost identical repeat of the first. Same story from a different character point if view. Repetitive, boring and pointless. This one started out with potential, but by the 4th chapter I knew it was a lost cause. The mystery was poorly presented. The love involvements made zero sense. I could have lived without the sex and so could have the story. I know Mr Taylor can write. I’ve read one book where he dud, but this one was so “same old same old” I wish I’d never even tried. Sorry.
The mystery was ok. Don't like people I don't know about being involved. The premise was good, but more info on the developer and his son should have been in sparingly. Also Buck you do not know women and whomever is giving you input on them is in the ditch. Amber is more believable as a good timing woman, but Stephanie....oh no. That was cruel
I had read two previous books by this author and liked the stories in each of them. All 3 books needed better editing. I found several mistakes with misused words, spelling and this one had the sheriffs wife cooking chicken casserole on one page and then it mentions them eating meatloaf
Great plot, good characters. Good mystery with s satisfying ending finding the killer. On the personal side though, i Don’t like him playing both Stephanie and Amber though. I don’t like books that don’t have an ending to the story. I refuse to buy book 2 just to see who he ends up with.
This was a great murder mystery. Jayce’s mother had died and he had to return to his home town to handle the property she had left him. There was a girl killed in Silver Falls 16 years ago but the death was never solved. Jayce is in for a real mystery solving this murder.
Mysteries are puzzles. I enjoy trying to guess the killer as I read However Turner leaves many clues until almost the end, such as Hal's and Clogburn's involvement. Usually the perp is at least mentioned almost at the beginning. I felt cheated.
I chose this book because I enjoyed the previous book I read by this amazing author and p!an on reading more. Such s good read with all of the important parts that need to be written about
The book was OK but the editing was terrible.....to the point of being distracting. Not sure I will read anymore of his books. There were several disconnections in the story.
Great book, but disappointing choices and ending. I hope if there’s a sequel, he picks the correct woman! Not as good as your others. They got 5 stars!
Good book but to short. Enough to keep you reading but not enough for one book. Keep up the good work but make us want to read more by keeping us in the book longer. Thanks
