We all have a running conversation with ourselves all day long. We call it “self-talk.” And we need it! That’s how we make sense of our lives. But we are not the only voice in the conversation. There are four “other” voices also constantly exerting their influence on what we think, say, and do. The four voices are the world, the flesh, the devil, and the Holy Spirit.
Not mastering these voices will eat away at your self-worth, poison your relationships, stunt your growth as a person, and limit how far you go in life. You will often find yourself going to bed angry, waking in the middle of the night in a panic, getting up in the morning feeling exhausted, and then blindly repeating the cycle all over again.
Author of the landmark bestseller The Man in the Mirror, Patrick Morley, helps you learn how to identify the voices that are affecting your daily life and conquer the feelings that keep dragging you down. Morley tackles this crucial topic with the mind of a theologian and the heart of a life-long Bible teacher and mentor to thousands of men.
By the end of this must-read book, you will be able to turn down the volume on the other voices in your head and tune-in to the voice of the Holy Spirit. With God’s help, you CAN set your heart and mind free!
Good introductory book regarding awareness of your inner dialogue for the Christian. The book is light but can make a good springboard for discussion as it appears to be intended for that purpose as a book study.
I believe I've read every one of Patrick Morley's books. This one has had the greatest impact upon me. Pat has done an excellent job at explaining how we are influenced by the voices in our heads and the Biblical response to managing them. Lots of practical information packed into a short, easy read. Highly suggest you consider reading this book in a group.
Excellent! I will need to re-read it and more thoroughly think through the exercises to get full value, but this is a great book and exercise on getting one's head clear. I worked through it myself, but I can also see how it would be a great group study.
