Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. Book One

Five stars. From the characters to the plot, it intrigued & captured me. It was the epitome of the precarious love of a jaded warrior woman and the anti-hero who made her.

Book Two

Three disappointing rehash of Serenity's romantic emotions & the king pussyfying himself to circumvent her defenses stars.

The final 5% finally gave me a reminder of why I loved book one. That final 5% was so good that I gave an otherwise 1-2 star book 3 stars... solely based on that final 5%.

Book Three

If book two was disappointing, then book three is a tedious process of pulling your own mfing teeth.

Serenity must once again rehash and refresh her emotional development while the king circumvents through coddling her every demand.

"I don't know how to deal with all these conflicted emotions I feel.

description

I begged each line of book three for advancement and a reprieve from this constant loop of emo- melodrama.

Plot

The sleeping queen is awoken after 100+ years.

description

Take the "Mockingjay " campaign of a young huntress with a bow and arrow and replace it with...

description

A "Freedom or Death" campaign by a martyred & scarred Snow White soldier queen, and you have the main plot.

I'm talking right down to the ridiculous outfits...

"I remove my outfit from the wall. The uniform looks half paramilitary and half high-fashion. I can't help but grimace when I notice the shoulder and upper arms of the fitted top glitter."

An so it continues for 40 CHAPTERS of a plan for the lesser of two evils to bring down the greater evil through peace speeches and the ideological symbolism of a martyr queen.

So, war doesn't end without peace. Well, duh.

description

It's the most tedious 40 chapters of a dystopian romantic action I've ever fucking read. Assassination attempt: Thwarted by the skinny skin, skin of their teeth: Dissect feelings and looks: Assassination attempt: Thwarted by the skinny skin, skin of their teeth: Dissect feelings and looks: etc etc.

description

Ironically enough, if Serenity herself would've been forced to read this bullshit, I fear she'd have likely shot, tortured, and burned it.

Meanwhile...

description

The already pussified anti-hero king becomes an even bigger joke of a character and fades away to basically background noise.

You see...

The king is still a "monster" aka anti-hero, or so we're told. Only now... he's "changed" to a tired, more wise, prudent, and apathetic monster who is the lesser of two evils vying for rule of the world.

Listen, his changes aren't 'bad.' They're just quite unbelievable & extreme and they result in him standing on the sidelines for most of the book like a secondary or fill-in-the-blank-here character, not the anti-hero king.

Anyway...

The greater evil devils come in the form of 13 men having taken over the West, and not for knookie. They don't just bomb fuck outta countries and leave them to starve and die of disease like the king did in his original war. Oh, no, they ravish the country afterward with concentration camps, baby killing, sex slavery etc. Real evil , ya see.

Translation...

The king:

description

The 13 evil fuckers:

description

For 66%....

We have war-grade attack after attack on the king and queen - bombs and more bombs, shot down airplanes, assassins and more assassins, systematic murder of all his council and leaders, etc etc. Yet, the king and queen continue to DO NOTHING but make speeches for 40 CHAPTERS.

Finally, we move onward...

King: No more speeches.
Serenity: Yea, this isn't working.
*book*: oops, too late cause your about to get kidnaped for the 100th time.

At 70%, the plot moves forward.

description

From chapter 41 to 57, I got a glimpse of the writing that captured me in book one. I had no idea what Serenity would do. I had no idea what the king thought or what he'd do. Was this their final end, their ultimate sacrifice?!

Man Book Fucking Down, Book Doooooown...

description

All was fine and fucking dandy until the king opened his mouth to take all the credit. The moment the "double agent" comes into play @ 97%, the plot lost all sense and reason.

Spoiler, if you care for why the ending made it all nonsense ...

Serenity

Despite all my complaints, I still do think Serenity was an amazing character when she wasn't laminating her feelings on repeat.

"I'm going to have to hurt more people, kill more people. That's the only way anyone's going to learn that I make a terrible captive."

"Buried beneath all my queen's violence is something soft and righteous."

It's sad that the plot stalled FOR TWO BOOKS and then fell apart at the end.

It's sad that the anti-hero wasn't so anti nor hero.

Bottom Line

While I loved book one, I can't recommend this series. The final two books should've had all the fat trimmed to make this a duology. The king should've never been castrated by the author. The plot holes at the end should've never happened.

Should've, would've, could've.

2 stars (and those are purely for Serenity when she's not an emo cookie)

4.5 stars!

^^^That's what sums up this series for me!

"It's easy to love the dream. It's much harder to love the reality."

What an epic series. I am floored by how quickly I read all three, I loved them all so much. I can't think of much more to say other than what I have said in my reviews for book 1 and 2. Basically I loved this series, it's unique and thrilling. The characters aren't perfect but they are raw and they are real.

If you are intrigued, take a chance on something new. And for all you KU readers, all three books are on kindle unlimited!

"I didn't marry you because you were a pretty thing. I married you because you were a wicked one."

This finale begins with the ramifications of the deliciously wicked actions that Montes took that I am literally still shaken BY the implications of what he has does

description

➵ The characters

Serenity: Her violent and defiant POV is constantly entertaining, full of raw emotions even now in the thurd book. She was so angry and vulnerable about her reality of being a woman during an apocalypse.

Everyone kept betraying her. So she started betraying back muhaha

Serenity reminds me of what if Jude from Cruel Prince was given bullets and started shouting ANARCHY ANARCHY

“You are not going in there unarmed.”
I raise my eyebrows. “You’re giving me a gun?”
“Can I trust you not to shoot me with it?”
“No.” I need some target practice anyway.”

description

King Montes Lazuli

“A grim smile stretches across my face.
He’s coming.
The devil is coming for me.”

This love interest is truly such a marvelously complex gray character. Where the earlier books, Montes was ruthless and sinister and impulsive dictator ... he is now worn down by centuries of war. He is cold and calculated and still scares the shit outta me in the most wickedly delicious way

description

It was the epic cliche of a power-hungry monster ready to manipulate all his knowledge to the power he wants.. just to find out there's something he needs more

LOVE !!!

The finale continues to feature the same love-hate dynamic between these two and it was frightfully entertaining reading the angst and tension between them

As I stated in the reviews of the other books, this is the kind of dark fantasy with apocalyptic settings with insane character dynamics of our ?? Love interest ?? That leaves you disturbed but you also enjoy it

➵ The Plot

A century has passed but the war still hasn't ended... And now its time to address those fUcKiNg insane actions taken in the last book that left me SCREAMIGN IN DENIAL

Where the first book focused on the wickedness of Montes's court and rule, the sequel focused on Serenity embracing her own monster-like tendencies. And this finale, is Montes trying to control the monster he created!

“I didn’t marry you because you were a pretty thing. I married you because you were a wicked one.”

I was so ready for Serenity to kick some asses and to also have some genuine plot development.

The battles and political intrigue were interesting but I didn't recognize the importance of constantly barely surviving assassination attempts that, at the time seemed to demonstrate powerlessness, was building up towards whole world domination from an unsuspecting player.

description

➵ The Critiques

So yes while I adore this series, I do recognize it for its faults.

It felt like with the beginning of each book, we started from Step One in their relationship every fucking time. It was mentally exhausting and I do not enjoy this goldfish mentality.

Either due to memory lost, time lost, or some other random events, each book in this series reverts our characters and our knowledge of the world back to #1. Everytime you start the book, it is a new arena! The readers and heorine are relearn the rules of the new world, the power dynamics have changed again, Montes has changed again,

“I glance down at the hand touching my chest. I follow it back to its owner. A soldier in his late twenties stares back. He’s not the king, and these are not the king’s men. Which can only mean …
I got fucking abducted.
Again.”

We are just as clueless as our heroine. Constantly trying to relearn EVERYHING about the world around us. And our own MC's ignorance mean they couldn’t explain shit to us, so a lot didn’t make sense. I felt I needed to put wayyy 2 much effort into figuring out what the fuck is happening. And by the third and finale of a book series, readers shouldn't STILL be trying to understand the book world!

Question, does the author not know how to write a couple actually being in a relationship? Each book kept writing the couple FALLING in love with each other instead of just BEING in love with each other.

I wanted to see these two dealing with regular relationship shit that all all just elevated because of their chaotic possessive nature... and the whole end of world war going on.

Even with these critiques and all the things that are clearly WRONG about this series starting with the messed-up shit that is our Main characters, I love it. Serenity has a wicked and violent point of view that gives hilarious inner dialogue about the ongoing events. The epic setup of this dark violent world is entertaining and I kept wanting to know more. Montes is a mean motherfucka. And together these insane characters have such a unique chemistry dynamic that keeps me coming back

“She and I are love and war. Peace and violence. I have taught her how to be a worse person, and she’s taught me how to be a better one. I fuel her hate, and she fuels my love.
I’ve torn the world apart and now I need my queen to help me stitch humanity back together, and my heart along with it.”

“I didn’t marry you because you were a pretty thing. I married you because you were a wicked one.”

✅ Gorgeous cover
✅ Badass main character
✅ Funny/snarky conversations
✅ Morally grey characters
🆗 Repetitive plot and action
🆗 Enemies-to-lovers that is getting repetitive

Serenity is full of raw emotions in this book. She has been betrayed and used once again, but this time she decided to play a more active role in the political game that Montes and the Rules of the West are playing, and she is the one scheming, manipulating, and betraying.

Montes remains a complex and grey character, but we can see in this book that he has changed. He is worn down by a century of war and is tired of it all, but he is still ready to kill anyone who threatens Serenity. The whole power-hungry ruthless ruler finding out once he has everything that there is actually something (or someone) that he needs more than all his wealth and power is a little cliché, but it was still great to see Montes development in this series.

There is still a love-hate dynamic between Serenity and Montes. She realizes at last that she is in love with him, despite everything, and she hates herself for feeling this way. Even though it's been a recurrent theme in the whole series, I enjoyed the tension between them and Serenity's snark as much as I did in the first book. Still, even though it is nice to see the whole hate/love/angst dynamic in every book, it's starting to become quite repetitive. In every book, Serenity kept falling in love with Montes despite her efforts not to, but we never actually got a chance to see them being in love, as in being in a relationship.

“You are not going in there unarmed.”
I raise my eyebrows. “You’re giving me a gun?”
“Can I trust you not to shoot me with it?”
“No.” I need some target practice anyway.”

A century has passed since the end of The Queen of Traitors, and the war is still raging. Montes is now trying (and failing) to control the angry-for-blood-and-revenge monster that he created when he decided to put Serenity in the Sleeper for over 100 years. As in the second book, we still have to start back at step one, except this time it's because of Serenity's time in the sleeper instead of a memory loss.

I find that the plot in the first half of the book was weak. I was ready to see Serenity kick some asses, but it mainly focuses on her and Montes going around the East part of the world on a campaign where Serenity promotes peace, and rellies the people behind her. The problem is that there is (again) a mole in their midst, so the West knows their itinerary, and they try to kill them at every single pit stop they make. What bugged me, is the fact that they continued anyway, so the first half of the book was just about them being ambushed and attacked at every turn (causing a lot of collateral damage), and it showed more powerlessness than control to me.

The last part of the book is more interesting, it is more focused on Serenity scheming, and planning to betray everyone in order to finally end the war... So overall, this is a very enjoyable series, even though it is not the best plot-wise, and some parts were getting quite repetitive. It is still very entertaining, thanks to Serenity's violent and sassy attitude, her funny inner monologues and remarks, and also thanks to Montes. He is a great morally grey character, and I really liked reading his POVs in the series.

“She and I are love and war. Peace and violence. I have taught her how to be a worse person, and she’s taught me how to be a better one. I fuel her hate, and she fuels my love.
I’ve torn the world apart and now I need my queen to help me stitch humanity back together, and my heart along with it.”

Update #9 (final): I've had some sleep and am ready to review!

Just like with The Queen of All that Dies - Loved it so much that finished it in one go.
Just like with The Queen of Traitors - my love for the books just keeps growing because they keep getting better and do not underestimate Montes.

The Queen of All that Lives

As always, the plot kept going and while there wasn't any time or very little of it peaceful (action vise) 'cuz most of it got skipped over in retelling or just a summary - it worked out just fine. When shit goes down, it does not wait for you to take a breath but keeps on beating you.

Had here & there some editing mistakes (words repeating twice side by side, they're instead of there etc) but that was like maybe 5 times, didn't even notice after the first 2 or so and it really didn't bother reading & enjoying the story itself.

It's been a 100 and 4 years since Montes put Serenity in the sleeper and was she mad at him when she got woken up & realised it.

What's worse - the world is still at war.
So in this final book Serenity once more takes control of her title of Queen for the good of the people to bring about peace while staying at Montes side, even if it breaks her.

And really what makes this book & the previous ones so compelling to me are the characters themselves, the plot allows them to keep growing & evolving.

Serenity
To wake up and realise the world & people you once knew are gone.
Serenity is a soldier and a damn good one which is shown to us once more right at the beginning when she's kidnapped, again :D
"I glance down at the hand touching my chest. I follow it back to its owner. A soldier in his late twenties stares back. He’s not the king, and these are not the king’s men. Which can only mean …
I got fucking abducted.
Again. "

While some real serious stuff goes down and we can see Serenity's strength & how she's using her knowledge that her father left her as an ambassador & what she's learned from Montes about the art of scheming, this one did have a lighter feel (which is kind of strange, because overall there's real serious and heavy things happening) & all the banter/bickering/fighting Serenity had with Montes was so fun to read!

We also get to see her struggle with her love for Montes because while she hates him for leaving her in the sleeper, Montes has changed, become better and Serenity has a hard time accepting that for it means the man who left her for a century is no longer here/the same.

Not to mention Montes has made her into a legend. Serenity is almost revered like a god by the people which gives her quite a lot of power she didn't have before as a Queen, but does now and she'll use it to end the war. No matter the cost.
Freedom or death. Serenity has become the revolution. It's what Montes has made of her.

Montes
I love that we get quite a lot POV's from the king which allows us to better understand his character!

While his queen was asleep time kept flowing for him and now he's a changed man.
No longer quite as evil, there's more good in him which was brought about by Serenity and remained even as she slept.

Thou he did have his crazy moments (more on that later).

And really, it might as well have been himself asleep too, because when Serenity comes back it's like Montes has also woken up, come back to life.

"For the first time in a hundred years, my soul flares to life, my heart along with it. And it hurts so fucking bad.
No one’s ever been in my situation, so I couldn’t have foreseen that love doesn’t function as other things do. It took decades for it to fade, and an instant for it to come roaring back.

"
It's fantastic to read about!

And while he's glad to have his queen back he also has to deal with the fact that Serenity is once more a target for their enemies and her life is in danger - the very thing he wants to avoid yet has to allow for he won't deny her wishes (or bargains they made) so it's a struggle for both of them as he tries to win not only the war but also his wife back because he won't let her go.

Some other characters:
We get to meet some old buddies & also new ones & everything in-between.
Traitorous ex-advisers from the last book - they're still here & even more evil. Montes was a saint compared to them.
Old friends (alive & dead) - nothing is as it seems, especially when Montes goes tad bit crazy when Serenity is not around
New friends - Heinrich Weber, kings grand marshal of arms. Would've liked to see more of him.
New enemies - Styx Garcia. The crazy-sick-evil kind.

Of course the main focus was on Montes & Serenity, their relationship & struggle to win the war.

Also, got answers to all my questions! ;p
Who took Serenity? - The evil guys of course.
How will she react to this new world? - "I fear for the world I have woken to." 'cuz it's even worse than before
How will Montes react to her disappearance & awakening? - Fear that she's gone & immediate retrieval (which Serenity knew & expected, he always gets her back), but only at the very end of the book do we get to know his true emotions
What will the people think of their resurrected Queen? - The embodiment of freedom
What will Serenity & Montes feel towards each other? One was afraid & the other felt betrayed - Anger on Serenity's side & confusion regarding his changed persona whereas Montes is beyond delight to have her back yet now has to fear for her life.

Last sentence to describe the book - loved it, had tons of quotes/scenes I favored & will re-read The Queen of All that Lives over & over again. Laura Thalassa has done a great job! :)

P.S. Didn't really care at the time & it was the first time I used Reading Progress, but I just now realised why it said "page 14" etc instead of %. I hadn't switched to kindle edition and it's kindle I read, lololololol. So the "page" I'm on are actually the %.
Oh well, not that it really matters, but I'll know now to switch to the correct edition if I ever use RP again. I never pay attention to which edition it shows I'm reading.
And obviously do not read my RP if you don't want to be spoiled. While I didn't outright say Montes did this or quoted Serenity on that, but it's pretty close anyway

Update #8: Yes, I'm done reading The Queen of All that Lives and there really are no better words than I love/adore/worship etc it. Kept me captivated from the very beginning till the end.

Review will come once I've gotten some sleep ;p I can properly sort my thoughts ^^

P.S. absolutely do Not read my Reading Progress 'cuz that's just asking to be told spoilers

Update #7: OK, I'm a sucker for this book, it's gotten me completely devoured not the other way around (as it normally should be), so I'm going to do the one thing I never thought I would: I'm going to write as I progress with reading and update it 'cuz there are just. so. damn. many. freaking. great. things & scenes I want to to gush about!!!!!
It absolutely cannot be contained!

Update #6: It's here! The Queen of All that Lives is live (lol)
Ahhhh the waiting is overrrr!!!! Not gonna hear anything till I'm done! Bye~

Update #5: The Queen of All that Lives, Teaser #3 (the final one)
" I know what you all want to read--what happens when Serenity and Montes meet. And I reeeeeaaaally don't want to give anything away, so the following snippet is my compromise! I hope you enjoy it!" <--- I swear it's as if Laura can read my mind...kind of creepy awesome?

Link for the final teaser -> right here on her site ;p

Anyways, compromise can be nice ^^ But it's also a kind of torture T.o

1 week. May 15. And it's ours. mwahahahahahahaaa

All right, off to sleep 'cuz had lots to do today and gotta get up early. This was a nice bed time story teaser

While my body's like that:

OOOoooooOOOOooo such feels from this teaser!!!!!!!!!!
Just a few lines of text but the emotions, the emotions it managed to wring out of me!

*tries to calm down* ok. SooooooOOooooo our Dear and Beloved Author decided to make the 2nd tease about the very beginning of the book - how Serenity is found!!!!!!!!!
For those who don't want to be spoiled 'bout it (for whatever reasons) author herself also states: The following teaser is from the first page of the manuscript, so if you don't want to know how Serenity starts the book off, don't read it.

But for those who love teasers and can barely sleep now for wanting to read the freakin' book already.........

I can totally feel the goosebumps they're having as they've entered Serenity's sleeping place and approach her sarcophagus!!!!
Such well written scene! I'm totally experiencing their emotions!!!!

Hmmmmm...this is how Tyrion must have felt when he saw Drogon lololololololol the disbelief, the excitement, the awe!!!
description
lol, Serenity's like the dragons - smt that's a legend and believed to be dead yet now will rise again ;p

One more tease and then the book itself! Yay! 18 days, only 18 days left!!!!!

P.S. Spoilers for GoT S5? IS there anyone who hasn't seen it yet and even if he/she/they haven't is it even possible to avoid the spoilers with all that's going down in GoT? I'm thinking it's all over social media anyway sooooooo...

18 days!!!! ^^

Update #3: Sooo we got our 1st teaser a few days ago at laurathalassa.com!!!!!

Yuuuup, someone's not happy for being a Sleeping Beauty for over a century. ~
But this got two of my original questions answered (for now, maybe smt in the book might show otherwise): Serenity's reaction to the future & her reasoning for wanting to get rid of Montes.
Thou really, I don't think that's good enough to kill him, just for that.

Other than that, it's still a complete mystery 'bout who kidnapped & woke Serenity up and I soooo want to see Serenity & Monte's reunion!!! It'd be awesome if we got at least a glimpse of that in the following teasers!

Update #2: That. Cover! ...so pretty! Lovin' it! Knew I wouldn't be disappointed ;)
I'm thinking it's the most beautiful of all three!!! ^^

Now all that's left are teasers and then May 15 :D

<--- knew 'bout that one. Should've woken her once she was all ok, Montes.

And soon, I will be his executioner. <--- hmmm...didn't think Serenity would be that pissed off at Montes for making her Sleeping Beauty, but oh well, bet there'll be lots of other reasons she might want him dead.

Ok, either they have their happily ever after or they both die. Won't have only one of them surviving. Or even worse one, the survivor (blurb wants us to think Serenity) killing the other party. Nah. The worst would be if one sacrificed himself/herself or died willingly for the other. Me thinks Montes, since he's incapable of letting Serenity die.

Either you both die or none! Or just might break my heart (thou I'm pretty sure it will anyway)

Aaand since there are felllas out there who apparently check out next book before they've read the previous one, and my following review contains well, info from the previous book, duh, 'cuz it all comes down in this one, don't read further & be warned if you don't want to be spoiled 'bout The Queen of Traitors 'cuz then you'd lose the shock.
And it was such a great shocking (sort of) ending too!

~ye be warned~~~

I would however recommend the Unearthly series by this author.

For the first time in a hundred years, the king’s soul flares to life and his heart along with it. She’s awake but desperate and angry. She’s back with a vengeance but what she sees is a changed man and the change has her confused and intrigued…

Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s the third installment in "The Fallen World" series and should be read in order. I loved book 1, book 2 wasn’t as good but still, it was enjoyable and I liked it. But this one? I was pulling out my hair to just finish it! And I skimmed the last 20%. This book didn’t have anything to say, it didn’t have a good plot. Honestly, I think instead of a trilogy the author could have summed it up with a duet. I loved the author’s writing in books 1 & 2 but here it became repetitive and tiring. Overall, it didn’t work out for me but hope you enjoy it more than me!

This. This is how you end a series. You go out with a mother effing BANG!

From the moment I started this series I know it was going to be on of those epic reads and I was not by any means disappointed. Book 1 I had some reservations. The book 2 came along and just blew me away. I'm still reeling from that ending.

Now that the end is upon us, I found it had to put down. I literally had to fight with all my might to go to bed at 4am because I didn't want to leave the wold and the crazy, beautifully flawed characters that I have grown to love.

Montes and Serenity took me on a while and crazy ride, that I won't forget. This book had a lot of twists and turns like the ones before it but the character growth that Montes went through was what hit me the hardest. Then Serenity with her badass self coming into steal the show. She is definitely one of the best characters I have ever read. I think it is because of her that I grew to love this book and the series as much as I did. There was also the crazy dynamic between her and Montes that I just couldn't get enough of. I didn't agree with everything that was done in this series between Monest and Serenity but not everything is a well laid out puzzle for us to put together. Sometimes, pieces that shouldn't fit together do, even if we don't want them to and even if they shouldn't.

This book was everything you would want in a series finale. It didn't fall flat, it didn't feel rushed and most importantly I didn't feel like I was missing part of the story. Everything was tied together wonderfully and nothing was left unanswered. I left this series feeling contented and hopeful for my characters who have come a long, long way.

This book gave me all the feels and then. Everyone one needs to go on this journey.
It is more than worth it.

WOW! What an amazing conclusion to the series. I'm blown away by how much I loved it. I'm really drawn to the female characters that are fighters. I would compare Serenity to the very popular Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games. The stories are not alike, but Serenity has that same underdog feel to her where she is willing to fight for what is right, even if it means her own death.

While Serenity almost steals the show but Montez is just as much as a draw. He's the ultimate anti-hero. He's the bad man that you can't help but love. His and Serenity's story is very powerful that goes against all odds and I was fascinated!

I would love to see this made into a movie. I think it would be just as popular as the Hunger Games and Divergent. I highly recommend! I also recommend the audible books. Laurel Schroeder really brought this story to life.

4 BLOODY STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OMGG

This has got to be the most intense series ive ever read by far!
All of the details and descriptions are on point. Its like one min into the story u feel like ure actually right then another min u realize its actually just a book blows my mind really, this book is basically abt love and war where they try to conquer it all.
Their love for one another lasts for over a century ❤️

“My heart, my wife, my life. I will love you until the day I die.”

I really loved Montes in this book because he was done hiding his affections for Serenity. He is amazing!

“My monster, my husband, my captor.”
“He’s complex, and terrible, and at the end of the day he’s my monster."

Yet another beautiful undeniably truly amazing everlasting love. Even though Serenity still doesn't admit it

“I told you a long time ago you’d never get all of me,”I say.
“And I have always told you that you’re mine,” he says, returning his attention to me. “Every bit of you. Even your love”

AWWWWWW ISN'T THAT SO BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET AHAHHA
And no, don't be fooled, these are just the nice parts, trust me once u start on the real deal ur gonna be hooked for life! The brutal parts included!

“But at the end of the day, we are two wrongs that, together, make something right.”

They are, they're so right for each other, both of em are the key to eternal peace!

“Citizens of the world: the war is over.”

Aand we have finally come to an ending to this series, after 3 long torturing (amazing oh so good) books, WE MADE IT!!!!!

“The world is at peace, and for once, so am I.After all this time, I finally found serenity.” :))

And Thats that!! I so recommend it to yall! If anyones up for a change of scenery, look no further this is the perfect stop! A bloody one that is ;)

Good luck!! ❤️

This book was the most interesting one but also the most confusing and plot not making sense one.

At some point the plot twists and betrayals make no sense anymore and there is no shock factor left if every single book has the exact same plot

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*So Glad To Be Done*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Is it wrong to say that I don't really want to read this? Only reason I am reading it is because I hate leaving things unfinished. It's like a burden on my shoulders or something. But yeah, I seriously don't want to read it, it doesn't excited me or make me happy to dive back into this world. I feel like the Undying King is no longer the Undying King and Serenity is just meh. The back and forth that has been going on about the King and his Queen's relationship has gone too far. While there was somewhat a development in this book, it wasn't enough to enjoy the book. The battle between them was more wary than the battle between West and East. It also annoyed me that the awesome anti-hero was suddenly no more just because he fell in love. Then there the powerful, undying king that no longer was so powerful. I hate when characters are introduced a certain way, only for them to change drastically once he falls in love.

It's one of the worst things I know, though downgrading another character for the purpose of uplifting another is even worse. Meaning: This bothered me. That being said, I didn't really like Her Majesty Queen Consort of the Eastern Empire, Serenity Freeman Lazuli (124) in this book. Her thoughts are tiring and her personality is annoying. I liked her okay in book two, now I just find her boring to read about. Whiles I still love Montes, he no longer is the man we all fell in love with; letting himself be controlled instead of being the one doing the controlling. So the book was boring, I skimmed a lot, and I'm damn glad I'm finally done with this series. Do I regret starting it? Somewhat. Book one was still an enjoyable enough read, but after that one it went downhill. I'm relived I managed to finish this one, but a part of me wouldn't have suffered hadn't I finished/started it to begin with.

Other Characters:
The list is somewhat long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (New Adult) Science Fiction - Dystopia (M/F).
Series: - Series, Book Three.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - King Montes Lazuli.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Unsure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Not really.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2 stars.

3.5 STARS ★★★✬✩
This book is for you if… the sequel didn't put you off. You might as well finish the series now. Quality wise, this conclusion lies somewhere between the first and the second book.

Overall.
Looking at the quotes I saved it's a wonder I didn't realise until now how poetic Laura's language can be. The romance in The Fallen World series is an intense one and so it is not surprising for the lovers to find intense words to describe what they mean to each other.
‘She and I are love and war. Peace and violence. I have taught her how to be a worse person, and she’s taught me how to be a better one. I fuel her hate, and she fuels my love.
I’ve torn the world apart and now I need my queen to help me stitch humanity back together, and my heart along with it.’

Admittedly, the prose didn't always hit home for me but now that I'm at the end of The Queen of All that Lives, it seems almost a waste of time not to have realised and enjoyed the language earlier.

To be honest, it was tiring to yet again see Serenity act as if the king didn't have her mesmerised from the minute he showed his gentle side to her somewhere in The Queen of All that Dies . We all know she loves him despite trying to rationalise her feelings for him. There really was no need to make the book that much thicker by lengthening it with endless mental discussions about whether or not it was right to love him. Dejavu feelings for the reader, nothing more.

Altogether, I'm pretty satisfied with this conclusion.

What’s happening.
‘I’m an idiot for trying to protect her this whole time. She was never the one who needed protecting.
Everyone else was.’

After having been put in a sleeper for 100 years, Serenity finally awakes and returns to a world that is so different yet almost unchanged compared to what it looked like when she fell asleep. But things have changed: her King most of all, the alliances she new got loose, new threats have emerged. Is the chance to bring peace to this earth lost forever or, for the first time in a long time, finally in reach?

4 STARS. Would stay up beyond my typical hours to finish it. I found some minor details I didn't like, agree with or lacked in some kind but overall, this was enjoyable and extraordinary.

3 STARS. Decent read that I have neither strongly positive nor negative feelings about. Some things irked me and thus it does not qualify as exceptional.

Intense: 4.5 stars.
Serenity was a strong heroine whose character was unforgettable. The fallen world where she lived might not different from other dystopian YA but Serenity and Montes's relationship was surely different and dominate all since theirs was so fucked up and so complex. There were many incidents that question the realistic of the situation but I think Laura Thalassa did pretty good job tying the loop at the end. I don't really know what to say more just that i'm freaking impressed with Serenity.

5 TRUE LOVE, BEST SERIES, LOVE LOVE Stars

I started the first book two days ago and I finished the last book at midnight. Goes to show I binged read this entire series because it was just that damn good.

I was really nervous and curious about this one because I didn’t know how Laura Thalassa could give me tension between the main characters but she does.

GAH. I started the book, thinking I would read a few chapters here and there but nope, I read it in almost one sitting. It’s just as intense as the first two and I gobbled up this book like mad.

LOVE the King, Love the Queen. Love the politics and everything that is in this book.

MUST READ series.

I devoured this trilogy in two days. *sigh* I love weekends like this. :)

Although this installment is more political, I think it's a fitting end to a great series. Book 2 remains to be my favorite though.

I'm actually surprised this is not as popular as it should be but I love it. Well, any dystopia/fantasy series that has a badass female lead is always going to be a winner for me. Aww crap, I'm really going to miss Serenity and Montes. <3

*ARC received from the author, in exchange for an honest review*

Let's start off by saying I had to force myself to put this book down to sleep. As much as I hated to see this series end..... The end was spectacular. Serenity continued to be the kick-ass, shoot anything that moves woman that she is, but she allowed herself to be more open in this book and it was touching to see both her heartbreak and her heart soften some. Montes was a much changed man after ruling for 100 years without Serenity by his side, but he changed for the better and it made me love him even more. The romance was so touching and you can see how deep their love and loyalty for one another goes. There was lots of plotting, surprises and, of course, action and bloodshed. The epilogue was so great and wrapped everything up in a satisfactory way. I thoroughly loved this book and this series.

How do you approach life when fear and death no longer have a hold on you, and all that burns is anger and thirst for revenge? That was how Serenity felt when she awoke from her 104 years sleep, one that the king, her soulmate and love placed her in unwillingly.
However, the king she woke up to was not the monster she married, he was a changed man; still ferocious and fighting a few demons but he’s had a century to find and embrace redemption; that, more than anything else was hard for Serenity to accept. She was versed at fighting evil monsters but the king was no longer one. However, learning to give and receive love 💕 is just as hard as vanquishing evil.
This last instalment was everything I hoped it would be, there was not a single dull moment. Laura Thalassa is officially one of my faves.

4.5stars!

While, first two parts were clean five stars, this one will be ''just'' 4.5.
I love both main characters, I love the story, I hate to see world that could happen. This series just suck me in and didn't let go. But it is fine. I don't mind.
Still, this one was a little bit easier than rest of it. King changed and even if we still have a lot of drama between him and .
Things changed in so many ways in hundred years, and still there are parts they were just same before.
War is still going on.
We still have people who wants to kill King and Queen.
Main characters still have hot-as-hell relationship.
But King changed. And with that, world is different.

THANK GOODNESS THIS IS OVER! geez! I can't believe I stuck this out!

Not gonna lie I skimmed a lot, why? because the whole 3/4ths of the first book, all of the 2nd and 3rd book were nothing BUT THE SAME!!! GAH!

It literally was sex, I love you, I hate you, I'm gonna abusive you mentally and emotionally, more sex, more ridiculous storyline of lack thereof of nothing!

MAJOR EYE ROLL!

It started off good in book one and just...died and it literally because the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over.

Consider this a review for the whole The Fallen World series. My internet was down last night so I didn't have a chance to review the first two but considering some of my feelings that's probably for the best.

This is a series I have hyped up in my head for ages and just never got around to. So maybe half of my 'is this it?'-ness is my own fault but also (because of #noblurbsclub) I didn't entirely know what it was about. Just that it was supposed to be epic. And in some ways it was.

This is a dystopian trilogy where our two MCs are variations of not good. We have the King, who rules all, who is terrible and tyrannical and upon meeting our heroine will do anything to possess her despite how much she hates him. And our heroine hates him. She's a survivor of the war, a soldier, and has lost much upto the point she meets the demon from her nightmares. Except he's not entirely what he should be.

This series definitely ebbs and flows between the terrible actions both of these characters perpetuate and the still-present compassion, and goodness, that occasionally drifts to the surface and is expressed in their actions. Both are variations of monsters, of broken, and yet they find in each other an individual who sees them, accepts them.. at least some of the time.

My problem with the first two books is that the second half of THE QUEEN OF ALL THAT DIES felt weak and almost OTT in tropes. And the first half of THE QUEEN OF TRAITORS felt like an unnecessary rehashing of events from book one both, I think, for the sake of drama and perhaps as a way to remind readers what happened since the final page of the first installment. As a binger, I didn't find this helpful or fun. But book three was a huge improvement. I loved the character growth, the evolution, and yet I think I loved everything that hadn't changed for these characters more.

This is a somewhat dark, violent, and kind of repetitive series (seriously how many times can they be ambushed, shot at, hospitalized, betrayed, etc etc) but the concept of the story is interesting and the archetypes brought to life in the form of these two imperfect, seriously flawed, and equally obsessive individuals.. it's compelling. The sexy times were a bit rote after a while but the emotional attachment, the confusion, the uncertainty, the helplessness they both felt about their connection.. it was done well.

While I'm not definitely not compelled to rush out to pick up anything new by this author, I will definitely read her again.

I've rated each book individually as I read, but the series as a whole was a 5 star for me.
Book 1 - The Queen of All That Dies - 4 stars
Book 2 - The Queen of Traitors - 4.5 stars
Book 3 - The Queen of All that Lives - 5 stars

I've never read a book set in an apocalyptic world before. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. So entrapped, I barely set my Kindle down until the last page of the final book was read.

I won't lie, at the end of book two, I was scared to start book three. I debated for a full ten minutes—turning my kindle on, then turning it off—before I put on my big-girl panties and dived in. I didn't come up for breath, not until the very last word.

This series touched me in a way I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Thank you, Samantha K, for recommending this to me and then holding my hand while I read it :D

Fantastic end to an engaging and addictive series! This was full of twists and turns, action, intrigue and huge developments.
I love that Serenity and Montes both found redemption and love in one another. I love that they were fundamentally fated and ultimately did all the right things for their people. And I especially loved their raw adoration for themselves and their future. The epilogue was perfect, too.
Great finish to a wonderful dystopian romance series.

The Queen of All that Lives begins when some enemies of the King are able to awaken his Queen and kidnap her. They completely underestimated the Queen, however. They didn't realize that she's just as dangerous as the King if not more so. And now, when she realizes the things that the King and others have done to her she wants revenge, and to finally put an end to this war.

This book was spectacular. It was a perfect ending to this awesome action packed series.
I adored the Queen and how she reacted to everything going on. And I really loved the change in the King as well. These two were great together, I just wish they had been a little more open with each other though. That would have been better, but it was still completely awesome.

And now I'm super sad to see the end of this. But I loved the ending it was great!

This trilogy is very similar to his other series The Four Horsemen.
I find it very entertaining with some very badass and funny characters, although there are some things in the plot that I didn't like. And the ending, it couldn't end in any other way, it was obvious, it was okay.
