Where True Love Is offers a 90-day Biblical exploration of God, scripture, the law, gender, sexuality, marriage, and more. After reading it, you'll be able to offer a Bible-based defense of the validity of LGBTQI+ Christian faith. More importantly, you'll encounter the gorgeous, loving complexity of a God who can't be stuffed into a book-sized box.
Suzanne DeWitt Hall (she/they) is the author of The Language of Bodies (Woodhall Press, October 2022), which Wally Lamb called "...a film noir between covers—dark, tense, and sexy."
She also penned the Where True Love Is devotionals, the Living in Hope series which supports the family and friends of transgender people, The Path of Unlearning faith deconstruction books, and the Rumplepimple adventures.
Suzanne lives with her transgender husband, two terriers, and a cat named Chicken. Her work is designed to shine the light of love into hearts darkened by discrimination and fear. You can learn more at www.sdewitthall.com
Finally! A devotional that is inclusive and affirming. Everyday of this devotional brought me closer to God. Well done! The words danced off the page into my soul. I highly recommend it not only for LGBTQ individuals but for everyone.
When I was in Bible College, my theology professor said, "It is my job for the next four years to put God in a box because as a professor: I need answers written onto a page. If I teach you successfully; you will spend the rest of your lives blowing up that box and letting God out of it because He doesn't fit into anything I can construct for you anyway." Suzanne DeWitt Hall has done exactly THAT in this wonderful and comforting book! One doesn't need to be gay or straight, lgbt, or anything else other than a seeker of Jesus Christ to get hearts full of comfort and peace out of this book. Avoiding political drama and shock value statements, Miss Hall has seen God face to face and isn't afraid to share with us WHO HE is. Not who we say He is. Not who your Sunday School teacher may have said He is but WHO HE IS. If the truth shall set you free then this book is a very gentle yet powerful tool to break the chains of ignorance and self-hatred so many of us have been taught. In short, WHERE TRUE LOVE IS is a God-send.
Restorative salve for the souls of LGBTQIA+ Christians and their allies. A must read!
This devotional is for all of God's people. It will be healing for many that are hurting from church alienation and negativity. It delivers a message to the LGBTQ individual and their allies that God is bigger than the country club box evangelicals have put him in and that God is indeed love. All are accepted. Bravo to this author for her insight.

insightful and useful analyses of scripture; I would have given in 5 stars except for some differences I have with some of the comments about the Old Testament
LGBTQ people have been battered and bruised by the Fundamentalist/Evangelical arm of the church. Using 7 'clobber' passages (wrongly interpreted), Scripture has been used to shame and disgrace LGBTQ people and to ostracize them from the faith community.
In this delightful book DeWitt has pulled together 90 affirming devotional readings for LGBTQ people and allies, each using a passage of Scripture to affirm all people, and in particular LGBTQ people, and their place within the larger faith community. Using historical, theological, and scriptural resources, this book celebrates LGBTQ people as the children of God we all are, and affirms their loving relationships which are shared. Throughout, the message of love shared by Jesus Christ is lifted up as THE lens by which faithfulness is measured and lived.
If you are a member of the LGBTQ community, a family member, or an allies, this will be a powerful and positive resource for life and faith.
I love these WhereTrue Love Is Devotionals. I have the whole series as I was needing to study about being gay and a Christian and what the bible was really saying to me. I find these so encouraging and by reading them I not only found my answers but they were put in a daily reading format that was easy to follow and take in in small portions. The author has such a gentle, loving way of writing that if you didn't feel loved and accepted when you started to, you did by the end of the books. A great resource for the LGBTQ community and their allies. Awesome writing. Well done to the author again!
