In these last days, God is raising up a new breed of believers to carry the spirit of Elijah and confront the spirit of Jezebel that has gripped our society. In Life On Fire, James Aladiran lays bare the spiritual battles that still rage today. Through an engaging exposition of scripture, he reveals how we can destroy the stranglehold of seduction over our generation and help to usher in the greatest move of the Holy Spirit the world has ever seen. What is coming is nothing short of a fight for the soul of the nation. Are you ready?
Solid book! Though, I would honestly recommend listening to his sermon here because it has almost all the same points as the book does just a little more condensed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-AUy...
Overall, this book carries a strong reminder that we live in a physical realm with spiritual realities that are often more pervasive, sinister and stronger than we thought. There is an enemy and he longs to bring us down with all sorts of temptations, distractions and oppression. I will say I found the style of writing difficult to engage with, it felt more like a commentary mixed with a stream of thoughts, which may have fit better as a preach. Much of the content also contains the writers interpretations of biblical and real life events, which they clearly disclaim with "I feel" "I believe) etc. This is reassuring to know their understanding is not principle, yet it can leave me feeling more curious than resolved about spiritual realities. Perhaps because the depth they go into is new territory to me, I found it hard to accept some concepts as truth and fact and took it more as interpretation.
I also wish they had gone into more about prayer as a practical tool for dealing with spiritual battles. I also think some content from the conclusion could have made for a powerful introduction. In summary, I feel challenged to be alert and to face spiritual realities!
This book has an anointing to inspire repentance from our own ways and ignite a desire for consecration to God and His ways. I will read this book over and over again. I have already been recommending the book to everyone!
I am thankful to God for this young man James Aladiran and his passion for Christ. God has been using him to ignite a like-passion in my own heart and soul. There is nothing and no one worth more than Father God, and there is nothing more fulfilling than following His will in our lives. May Father God inspire us all to be a flame that ignites others as well!
On balance, I enjoyed his passion, love and commitment for Christ and God’s people that is so inspiring and the true saving grace of this book.
I disliked that the many examples from his personal experience or his wife’s or a friend’s felt very surface-level. Not a lot of depth. Little vulnerability.
Also felt too repetitive for me and difficult to hold on to the narrative that everything sinful seems to only relate to a Jezebel spirit.
James Aladiran has a correct sense of urgency about the need for genuine faith in difficult days, looking to Jesus only for direction and partnering with His plan to seek and save the lost in our lifetimes.
Truly glad I read this book. Really helped me identify the schemes the jezebel spirit may employ that are not so obvious or taught widely. Also provides strategy to counter this perverse spirit.
