“I still want to dominate you… I still need to dominate you. Sexually. But because it’s you… and because I’m in love with you, everything else is different. The rules don’t matter anymore.”
Bree What do you do when you’re fresh out of a divorce from a man who wanted to control every inch of your life, but your brother’s need to keep you safe means he’s just as bad?
You escape… that’s what you do.
And that’s what I did, until my brother’s gorgeous bodyguard caught me… and threatened to spank me if I didn’t behave myself.
Now I can’t stop thinking about him and all the things he could do to me… if only he wanted to.
Colt What do you do when the woman you’ve been in love with for over a decade is finally free, but you know she’s wrong for you? Or at least, you’re all wrong for her?
You keep your distance… that’s what you do.
And that’s what I did, until Bree’s impulsive escape made me threaten to spank her.
Now I can’t get the thought out of my head… and I don’t want to.
This is a dual POV story with graphic sex scenes, adult language, and a stormy, hot Dominant hero with a rule book all of his own.
Taming the Storm is book one in the Never Give Up series, but can be read as a stand-alone story with no cliff-hanger, and a guaranteed HEA.
Suzie writes steamy and contemporary romances, with the kind of book boyfriends every woman needs in her life.
When she’s not writing, she likes nothing more than to relax with a coffee, while thinking up new storylines, and to pretend that plate of crumbs had absolutely nothing to do with her. Nothing whatsoever.
She lives in wedded bliss with the only man she’s ever loved… and their crazy cat.
I got half way through before giving up entirely on this book. The whole attitude of the male main character was just… ugh. I won’t go into deep spoilers other than what’s on the blurb: Colt has been secretly in love with Bree for ages. Cue page after page of gross whiny monologue about how he’s in unbearable pain because she doesn’t return his love… despite never making any attempt to tell her his feelings, or even talk to her in any way whatsoever. While he was always described as hot and muscular etc etc… with the way he was acting, I pictured him more as a fedora-tipping douchebag who seemed to think he was owed Bree just because he loved her after finding her beautiful once. For me, he was just deeply unpleasant (and repetitive) to read about. What I found even more unpleasant was that literally every character shamed Bree for not immediately returning his love, despite him dumping it on her and then inadvertently pressuring her to feel the same. I think the author really wanted Colt to have our sympathies but honestly had no idea how I was supposed to feel sorry for him.
There was no real substance to this book, lots of cliches and a thread bare storyline. Colt loved Bree because he had the hots for her when she was 17, no other reason just thought she was fit, and because he didn't get around to telling her this at the time, she then met someone her own age and married them, so Colt becomes a Dom? No idea what that connection was supposed to be. He was 25 seen war action and thought I can't be with the fit 17yr old that I've only known as a child and know absolutely nothing about her now except she's blossomed, he then feels he must give up on love and become a master at dominating in sex? What? Makes no bloody sense. Bree is insipid and extremely dense to say the least, she's lonely after divorcing her controlling ex, so goes out dressed as a hooker and hangs around bars, like she has no other options in life? I mean she could spend time with her brother and niece, take the new girl out, join a pottery class, spin class there's like a million options but no speaking to sleezy randoms in bars is far more agreeable. And she doesn't want to get tied down (pun intended) with being controlled and Colts the answer, I'm not being funny he told her he's moving in without consulting her, bought a house without even asking and she's like this is fine take all my choices and voice away from me as this isn't what I've been fighting against all along but I mean he's great at sex so that's fine, I'll just jump straight back into a relationship where I'm completely bull dozed. Honestly there's so many inconsistencies and double standards throughout, it's really repetitive and could easily be cut down by half, I almost quit several times and skimmed scenes. Hate being so negative, but it was lacking in every way, even the title doesn't make sense, I would not describe Colt as a storm, he's the complete opposite, controlled, calm, professional, dependable, loyal to a fault and hid his emotions, a storm is chaos, erratic and wild he was not that at all. Just felt like it was trying to hard and ill thought out.
Started this book today, have to say it’s very weird but refreshing reading it from a Man’s point of view and seeing the love he has.
I did enjoy this it just seemed to go very fast. Jumped from hey I love you to hey let’s get married.
Ok I’m going to moan only because I came across this on my Facebook feed and thought it sounded amazing and it was it is. But it ended!!!!!
I usually look at the next book in the series but this time I overlooked it, wish I had looked as I’d have known it was a single story not a series about the same couple. Like I say it was good but I’m disappointed I don’t get to read more.
Feel like Bree and Colts story hasn’t ended and I don’t like that.
Why do these kind of books always make the FMC so unlikeable?
Not a lot going on here… FMC -Selfish, hyper unaware, and terminally dull dresses like a h***er and thrives on ANY male attention then treats men really badly coz her ex husband was a bit of a control freak.
MMC - more wet blanket than storm. Falls in love with 17 year old entirely on looks alone (bit shallow) and somehow carries on with this infatuation for the rest of his life despite the object of his affection being entirely dismal, indecisive and self absorbed.
This was more a lesson on who not to fall in love with than a romance 😭😂
Writing and editing okay but characters are grim and annoying.
I enjoyed 'Taming The Storm' by Suzie Peters, a new author to me. The story took some time to get going, but once it did, I was lost to the story. The characters took a bit to get to know, and some of their decisions were slightly frustrating, but their chemistry was undeniable. Colt's dominance and Bree's openness to it added a dynamic element to their relationship, making the bedroom scenes perfectly hot. Overall, it was a good read that I enjoyed. 🤓
This was a great book! I loved the push and pull of Colt and Bree, the will they won’t they and Bree learning about how Colt is/was a Dom and how she was finally free from controlling men and doing things on her own terms at last.
I loved all her family and the extended colleagues and friends and I think the rest of the series is about them, which I’ll happily read.

This was an ok read, not great Bree annoyed me quite a bit, she doesn't think, shes reckless and shes moany And jumps to massive conclusions I dunno if I'll move on to book 2
A good story but it happens over a long period of time. A family with problems especially with trust. Yet when things improve they have a hard time believing that this is meant to happen.
not sure how i felt about this one. i wanted to like it as the plot summary sounded right up street. It was a but intense at times with how quickly Colt wanted to tell Bree that he loved her and the fact that he didn't really give Bree time to react to this. I also thought that Bree was a bit careless with her safety and couldn't really understand her need to run away all the time. i'm not sure if i will continue with the series but i was intrigued by the stories of Bree's brothers.
