Over-Protective. Ultra-Possessive. Totally in control.
Thea: I designed him to make grown men feel small and pathetic. To me... he's a titan.
6'8. 700 pounds of flesh and steel. A killing machine with the strength of twenty men. He's the only man who could stand up to a triad of Rogue Aurelians.
I designed him with one purpose. To protect the weak and helpless from the coming storm. He’s the first of his kind, a flawed prototype too beastly to live.
I spill my secrets to his unknowing ears, knowing he will never come alive.
He will never link to his ward.
Auger: My eyes have never opened.
The only sound is her voice. Thea is brilliant. A genius, but compared to me, she's weak and helpless. She doesn't know the danger she's in.
Every time she touches me I latch onto her being. I feel her inside my spine.
She belongs to me.
I will find her. I will protect her.
She will learn that she is mine.
Bonded to the Cyborg Beast is a re-work of the novella Auger to match the alien fated mates themes of the Aurelian Empire. It has been expanded 20% and features an overly protective, possessive alien cyborg!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙🖤💜💖 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎 Character development: 🤨😟😳😍
The heroine:Thea - she was a child prodigy who graduated high school at 16 and went to the impressive Able Institute of Technology to study AI. She is now 22 years old and has been working for Cobernaught Corporation for years, designing and building cyborgs to be used as bodyguards. Her newest creation is a test model, though he breathes and lives, he has never been turned on.
The Hero:Auger - he was the only one of his kind, built to be the best protection a wealthy person can get. He is 6’8” and made of a mixture of alien and human DNA, with a metal skeleton, he weighs over 700 pounds and is programmed with the knowledge of hundreds of people that were at the top of their fields, from doctors, to karate masters, to military leaders, and more. Their brains are stored at Cobernaught and used as inputs for the cyborgs. Though Auger was never meant to be woken up, he was just a test and is used for demonstrating the size and looks of the cyborgs to potential customers.
The Story: When a cyborg is bought by a wealthy client, that client’s DNA will get encoded to the cyborg and that is how they know who they will be protecting. The encoded DNA will prevent the cyborg from being tricked by a lookalike, a hologram or something of that nature. Thea didn’t know it at the time, but as she was creating Auger, he was getting her DNA every time she touched him and though he wasn’t awake, he could hear her as she spoke to him, so when he is suddenly awakened, she is the one that he knows to protect.
The story is a bit convoluted, but it is also very good. This is not your standard cyborg romance and though there are plenty of steamy scenes, there is a ton of action and adventure, and this story kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I really enjoyed it, much more than I even expected.
The corporation Thea works for turns out to be evil in many different ways and they must escape, or Thea will be killed, and Auger will be incinerated. There are assassins after them and though Augur is nearly indestructible, he does have a few weaknesses and those are known to the people after them. Reading this story has definitely made me want to check out more from Corin Cain. I have never read anything by this author before, but this one impressed me.
Wow, this is a difficult one for me. I love sci-fi, and my absolute favorite is cyborgs. I was enraptured to find a book that would keep me happy for hours. But then we go down the garbage chute and add in juvenile spankings (totally not acceptable for adults), and dom-sub nastiness I bail out on instantly. There are too many great books out there for me to tolerate this demeaning junk. There is so much that would take more priority in a story such as this where a cyborg, never awakened before, meets his creator and deals with greedy men trying to misuse him for their own purposes. There are “lessons learned” to be found, moralizing available, but a body part the size of a baseball bat – uh, WHY? Certainly not an enticement to an innocent young "tiny" scientist. This cyborg was to be a protector, a bodyguard to care for females in danger from the Aurelians. Why would he turn on the BDSM aspects when that has nothing to do with keeping a woman safe?! And when would he ever need to spank the woman he was protecting??? Geesh… I’d want a failsafe device in his head to blow it off if he tried any of that!
If all the nasty stuff concerning an alleged “romance” is removed, this story would appeal to me and be rated highly. Because of the gratuitous nasties added in for shock value and to appease those who somehow enjoy that, it ruined the story for me. Please let Book 2 be a complete change from this so I don’t have to cringe at every demoralizing paragraph where they get to know each other – and I’m looking toward friendship which makes more sense than what they got into here. I am very disappointed. But I think the series could be exciting if the so-called romance was removed.
1.5 ⭐️ I would really like to find a good cyborg story, unfortunately I haven’t yet ☹️ This story didn’t do it for me..it started off quite good but then went down hill and bored me.. Thea who invents cyborgs and Auger who is a cyborg fall in love (and not much else apart from some cyborg smut with constant spanking)the story got boring and lost my interest 😕
This book just seemed illogical at so many points. I’m not referring to the logic of fated mates or things fitting, rather the plot of the book. The spice wasn’t to my taste, but that’s a personal preference. Overall, a so so book.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: dubcon, abduction, murder, break in, torture
I liked the idea of this book. My main issue was some of the writing.
The author constantly refers to the hero's testicles. And compares them to fruit. First they are the size of apples. Then they are the size of grapefruit. It was annoying.

ARC Provided by Booksprout 🌱 I also got this ebook with KU.
The author put a lot of effort into the explanation of how and why Thea 💃💋 created Auger🐺🍆⛲💪👋. Then the book morphs into a kind of cheesy spankster 👋👋novel for a while. Then it's back to an exciting action novel with Auger🐺🍆⛲💪 saving Thea💃💋, and Thea💃💋 saving Auger🐺🍆⛲💪 from Cobernaught assassins who come to kill him.
I started reading this novel and suddenly realized I had read it before! This is a renaming , reworking and republishing of "Auger, and Author Cain 📚has expanded the story to a full length novel. It's a good example of a quality ADULT sci-fi romance! Happy reading!
This is my first cyborg romance. Throw some alien into that mix and boy did it catch my attention! It's also the first book I've read by this author. It was a decent read, but not what I expected.
Auger is a giant 6'8, 700 lb cyborg (with some alien DNA snuck in) meticulously built by heroine Thea to serve as a bodyguard to protect the weak and helpless from danger- specifically rogue aliens called Aurelians who are obsessed with finding their mates, and kidnap women and keep them in harems. Auger is the first prototype- meant to be completely intimidating and withstand onslaughts by both weapons and alien attacks. However, he is not meant to wake up, and other cyborg bodyguards will be build like him for that purpose. When two brothers want to manufacture cyborgs as weapons (or to protect soldiers in battle), they test Auger's pain tolerance and he momentarily awakens. Thea is ordered to incinerate him, but instead codes him to awaken with just enough time to save himself and hopefully escape. When he instead shows up at her home, what actions will she take? Especially if the company she works for is now hunting them both.
There are a lot of details thrown in the beginning of the book referencing the state of this world and the aliens in it, the laws surrounding the building of cyborgs, and just the general level of technology that's normal in this setting. It's not explained at the beginning, but talked about in pieces throughout the book (although more so early on than later). It's a lot to take in and wrap my mind around while also trying to focus on Thea and what she's doing and interacting with. In spite of not being 100% sure on the state of the world and just how great a threat level the three different mentioned alien species are, the storyline makes sense and has good action in it. The solution seemed too easily achieved to me, but there is a sequel and it may not actually be as easily handled as it appears, or can go sideways later.
The relationship between Thea and Auger was strange to me. Yes they definitely have a bond- there's no denying the strong connection they have to each other or their chemistry. I just don't find their dynamic very believable. It was clearly mentioned that a cyborg would die to protect the woman they would be guarding. But Thea was also frustrated that a woman could give her cyborg a command that was foolish and could inadvertently interfere with her own protection and even lead to her death. Yet when Auger first came to Thea, he did not follow her commands; he was the one commanding her- forcing her to call him Master, to call herself his pet, a helpless toy, and obey whatever he says. "You will be my good little bitch, and you will obey without question." He spanks this lesson onto her hard without stopping. I found his behavior unsettling for a cyborg that just woke up and was having his first conversation with his creator. She designed everything in his mind, but clearly not this, and she was in pain until- as what always happens in romance novels that feature spanking- she decides she desperately needs this and deep down wanted it all along. From then on her mind always seemed to submit to his will in some way- like that encounter conditioned her to it, and she felt herself compelled to obey. For a very intelligent woman- a child genius- it just threw me off. I also found it unbelievable that as a virgin, she was able to easily take Auger- whose cock (erect) was the size of a baseball bat and balls the size of apples (yes the apples comparison was made several times, and toward the end after they've been regularly intimate, they were the size of grapefruits). It just sounded horribly painful to me- especially for a virgin. I understand this cyborg is meant to be the ultimate masculine form ever, and this is supposed to be fantasy- him beyond huge and her tiny (yes she even calls herself and her parts tiny when with him)- but it just seems more fantasy than a believable reality.
Overall it's a decent book- I like the cyborg aspects of Auger and his mind. I didn't care for the romance because of how it was done- just my personal preference. The sequel will continue where this book ends but following a different woman and cyborg. Probably won't read it unless this story pops into my mind in the future and I get curious, but unlikely. 3 stars
Part of the Aurelian universe. I HIGHLY recommend that these be read in publication date order. This is the first Cyborg story, but the reason for their creation, terms, history, war against the Scorps, etc. are all part of the Aurelian universe. At minimum, the previous series should be read as it introduces the split of the Empire brought on by the Priests.
⛔️ Contains references to, or detailed scenes with subject matter that may be offensive or a trigger for some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, spanking for punishment and pleasure, sensory deprivation, “bottom” play, restraints, etc; violence with kidnapping, abduction, murder, torture, assault, rape, fighting, human trafficking, enslavement, etc.
There are grammatical issues throughout, but not as many as in previous stories. Primarily these are incorrect word choice, incorrect word tense, missing and extra inserted words. I am trying to mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
The theme can be quite repetitive at times, but every time I need to just read something to decompress and not think about more complex plots, relationships, twists, etc., I find myself looking for a new story from Corin Cain. They continue to be a guilty pleasure, I think it is because I have read these from the beginning. Plus the theme was refreshed when Corin introduced the Prophecy, Fanatics and Priests.
Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:
Thea is the youngest human to graduate from a prestigious college with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The corporation she works for is pushing everyone to get their robots developed for duty supposedly acting as bodyguards specifically linked through DNA to their charge. Thea agreed to come to work for Cobernaught specifically because of who her mentor would be: Galford. An universe renowned genius that she still has problems believing she works with as an equal.
She knows that some stuff is going on in the Universe, but she is solely focused on developing and coding her “babies”, currently in the 3rd series. She keeps her original Cyborg, that she named Auger, as close to herself as possible. He is special. She programmed hundreds of different minds within his own. He is kept in an inactive state at all times, but is used to demonstrate to potential clients the various Cyborg capabilities.
Thea has no social skills, having spent her entire life either learning or coding. She feels especially possessive of Auger. He has served as her silent confidant and at times feel very real to her. For some reason, Cobernaught has been having more and more clients coming in for presentations. It used to be monthly and now it was daily.
Auger is moved into the correct viewing room, her mentor arrives and they wait on the Company rep to show with the clients. When they show, Galford becomes very upset and the presentation is shuffled to Thea after he is ordered to leave. She is unsure and responds correctly to some of the questions. This upsets the Company rep and she is ordered to leave as well.
She goes to their cafeteria where she knows Galford will be. As they are talking, Thea hears an ungodly road and she know that someone has activated Auger and he is in pain. She gets to the room as fast as she can, barges in and removes the wires someone attached to his brain so they could test his pain receptors. Before she knows it Auger breaks free from his supposedly “impossible for him to break” restraints, grabs her gently and whispers that she is his … uh oh!
What do you get when you combine the DNA of an Aurelian, a Scorp, a Toad, a human and a bit of technology? A possessive, dominant, kick-arse, loving male that will do anything to protect and possess the woman he loves! This story is set in the Aurelian universe and has been added to since the first publication. I remember reading the original book and I wholeheartedly appreciate that the author decided to revisit this story. At first I didn’t notice too many changes in the storyline, but the further I read, I started to see the new additions to the book. The story now feels richer and more complete. Great world building, sexy scenes, plenty of conflict and drama, witty dialogue that made me laugh out loud and a happily ever after made this book very hard to put down. It’s definitely worth reading again because the story is so enjoyable and entertaining.

Thea is a scientist who works for a company that creates cyborg bodyguards. But she's particularly attached to one of her earlier models that she uses for testing a lot. He's never been awakened though and she doesn't plan to turn him on. Until one day be inadvertently is. And now he's coming for her and claims that she is his.
As the two get to know each other, they find out some dark secrets going on with the company she works for. And they try to put a stop to some of those things while figuring out their new relationship.
Meh. I wasn't a fan of this one for a few reasons.
First off, I found the writing style to be disjointed and hard to follow. It didn't flow well and there seemed to be jumps between scenes and the characters' actions that didn't flow or make sense in sequence. And I found this disorienting and unpleasant. There was a lot about the story that was confusing and made no sense to me. Some of it sorted itself out later in the book, but the way it was presented was confusing and messy.
Also I didn't really feel a "romance" between the main characters. They started saying they love each other really soon and I didn't feel them get to that place.
The steam was just okay. Some of it was hot. But some of it was heavy on some BDSM themes, which I'm not a fan of. He calls her his pet, she calls him her master, and he makes her tell him she's "his horny little bitch". Ugh. None of this is appealing to me at all. Especially in the context of a cyborg romance, which I feel sort of calls for a dynamic where the female is more in control. I'm not that into femdom stuff, but in a cyborg sort of relationship, I picture her having control over him more so than the other way around.
Also, the first time they have sex sounds painful and unrealistic. She describes him as having a cock the size of a baseball bat. She's also a virgin. And he does absolutely NO fingering or prepping her before he just sticks it in. Ouch. Sounds painful to me and not very fun. If he had prepped her more, this would've been a more realistic and enjoyable scene.
Overall I wasn't a fan of this one. Not much I liked about it. I don't plan to read on in the series at this point. I might consider this authors other alien romances that are triads, but I don't know for sure.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was pretty clean, with only occasional typos that will hopefully be fixed in the retail version. The world building was competent, if not necessarily as vivid as I prefer. The characterization was okay, with the hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals, if not especially nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was HOT, with a heat level of four to five chili peppers. That and the tight, exciting plot and page turning pace were the real strengths of this novel. This novel had low angst and very high stakes throughout, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Breeder trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were both four stars. The characterization was three stars and the development of the romantic relationship was four stars. I therefore rounded up and gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy action and danger in their sci-fi romances. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I liked this extended version of the original novella much more than the original. It felt far more complete. I will buy myself a keeper copy of this romance.

"everything that makes a Cyborg able to cow a man with a glance is exactly what turns a woman on."
Originally released as the story Auger this has been edited slightly, per the forward, to better fit with the larger Aurelian Universe of stories. I first read this story as Sugar, and enjoyed it as much, if not more, the second time.
He comes "online" with one touchstone, The a, the programmer who spoke to him daily as tests were being run, and his programming evolved. There may be moments when Auger gets confused, when his mind is providing two or more conflicting things (done so well in Med lab 2) but the one consistent thing in his life, and memory, is The a, and there is no chance Auger will allow harm to come to her.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read has a great pace, some compelling conflicts, and is set up in a way that means characters are faced with/discover consequences, have to face them, deal with them, and figure out how to move forward.
I liked this one. It’s so hard to find a sci fi romance with a heroine who hasn’t spread her legs for other men to rut between and can give the hero the primal satisfaction and connection of claiming her innocence.
Hard to categorize what the hero was. He had been created by the heroine and had been in a suspended state until awakened, so who he is and his body had never been with anyone other than the heroine. But he had been made from the DNA of many other men and even had some alien dna tossed in there. He was built to have the skills—and memories—of those others and so he had memories of his “contributors” with other women. So, virgin for himself and his own body, but his mind wasn’t…if that makes sense.
The plot was a little convoluted, but still fun and interesting and I enjoyed it.
There are spanking scenes. No cheating or others, the hero is 100% attached to the heroine, ready to give his life for hers. HEA.
I loved the original story by this author but this version was ten times better. I couldn't put it down. I loved the interactions between Auger and Thea. Thea is a brilliant who has designed Cyborg Bodyguards. Auger is her first cyborg that she created. She put everything into him but he was never to wake. One day, he does that when he on a demonstration. He is slated to be destroyed but she can't do that. He matters too much to her. She does not expect him to come back and decide to that she is his to protect. Auger has decided that Thea is his and he will do anything to keep her safe. They don't realize how much trouble they are in. They are running for their lives. Will he be able to keep her safe?

I enjoyed this story when it was a novella. The expansion just fleshes out the story a little better. Thea is a young AI scientist working for the corrupt Cobernaught. She is responsible, ostensibly, with creating cyborg bodyguards. With that, she has created Auger who has everything that she has dreamed of. When Cobernaught wants to sell the design to men who will create soldiers instead of bodyguards, Thea acts to protect Auger. But Auger has imprinted to her and is only concerned with her well being. He is overly protective and when she disobeys him, she is put over his knee and spanked! This is a great book and I highly recommend it to everyone!

I loved these Aurelians and now they have created a beast of an alien combining the DNA of the Aurelians, the Scorp and humans. They are created to be much fiercer and intimidating than the Aurelian triads combined. Woah! I can cleary imagine, people are either running away from him, too intimidated, or falling at his feet, too overwhelmed by his "beauty".
I loved the story! It has captivated me right at the start, in suspense, willing Auger to open his eyes. One thing though, the heroine is too young at 22 even if she is a genius. Nevertheless, I still loved the story, there is a lot more excitement than the previous one. I loved the fated mate trope

Warning: Spontaneous immaculate conceptions may occur while reading this book! (the hero, cyborg Auger is just that hyper masculine). There’s plenty of action, both spicy bedroom style and guns-and-explosions style, in amongst a dark overarching storyline about a corrupt corporation that commits some pretty heinous crimes. I found that the dark storyline was needed to ground the hyper-sexual romantic storyline; the result was a story I enjoyed more than I expected.
FAR MORE THAN ANY MAN Danger ✔ suspense ✔ evil mega Corp ✔ and a love that can overthrow it all! S*xy ✔ Thea made him to be the perfect protector. He's everything she created and more... Auger has been in the dark where her voice is the only thing that reaches him. He was never meant to wake and when he does, he's going to show her just what he's made of. Can they get to the bottom of what Cobernaught is doing before it's too late?.

Loved this adventure. Thea has created the ultimate cyborg, but only over time does she realises just what he is made off. He wakes to pain and she tries to save him, only he takes her off world as his. They have evil minds to contend with and help from a friend. Thea and Auger build their bond, though he is very protective of her. A great afternoon read and I did kinda hope they would have a little surprise. :)
Thea knew exactly what she wanted to do and she put her idea into life. She was making cyborgs to help protect others but the first cyborg was the prototype for all others. She was very protective of him and when she found out he was to be destroyed she saved him. Auger, the cyborg has been listening to Theas’ voice from the beginning and knew she was his. Now if only they could escape and become lovers before something happens to Auger.
A new series added to the larger Aurelian Empire series. This one does have a dark side to it. Our cyborg is so much more than metal and flesh. And one young and brilliant sci-fi’s about to find out exactly how much more there is. Some interesting twists brings plenty of danger and possible death. The bedroom scenes are extremely hot and filled with an alpha who takes what he wants. He will protect her with his life and from herself.
Auger and Thea have some strong chemistry, which is crazy, because she created him! It really was no wonder that she loves him, she created the perfect man, even if she doesn't realize what she was doing. The story is intense, full of intrigue, and eventually, full of heat too! I loved this book, the words flew like magic, and I need to read more in this series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 This sci-fi romance introduces a powerful, alien cyborg designed to protect, paired with a brilliant but vulnerable heroine. The dynamic explores themes of control, possession, and unexpected connection. The story balances action and emotion, delivering a fast-paced, protective romance with a hint of mystery and danger. Readers who enjoy alpha-protective heroes and fated mates will find it engaging, though the cyborg’s internal awakening moves slowly.
The first book in the Cyborg Mates series a well written sci-fi story that kept me turning pages. Thea and Cyborg Auger's story of her creation and what happens that is not suppose to. I enjoyed reading this story, it was well worth reading. I want to read the next book who is in the lab? I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good story line and plot. Wish it was developed a little better and the author wasn't so redundant with the feelings and observations. Hopefully the 'evil' part of the plot will be more developed in future books.
I love, love the Aurelian world. This is a great take on that. One human woman and her cyborg creation taking on a corrupt mega company. Torture, death and power
If i could give no stars i would. This stared off good but quickly went down hill...with all the your weak, you need me blah blah blah....that does not sound or look anything like protecting ...or even a HEALTHY relationship!
It was a good book, the only thing I didn’t like was how it ended. I don’t get why the epilogue is in the pov of a different character instead of the two main characters. I was curious to know if she did in fact get pregnant.
