Wanna check out early? Blame the ghost. Get your money back? Sure, ghost. Imagine your best friend naked? Yeah, ghost—no, wait a minute.

When my best friend, Tate, called a few years ago to ask me to help him run the Narrow Peaks Ski Resort, I jumped at the chance. Skiing is one of the things I’m most passionate about—that and pretending not to notice how hot Tate is. This is my dream job, but never in a million years did I think I’d be fielding demands from guests trying to check out early because they claim their cabin is haunted. I can’t deny how creepy some of their stories are, though.

Even while being spooked every time I turn around, I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of Tate. The guy that put me in the friend zone years ago. Kill me now.

When the two men end up sharing a cabin together, will they finally take a chance on each other? Or will the dangers inside break them for good?

The Ghost in the Emerald Cabin is a prequel in the RIPP (Researchers In Paranormal Phenomenon) series. It’s a 21K word standalone MM romance novella with creepy fun, two guys who are completely clueless, icky ski hats, a spooktastic cabin, snowballs, and don’t forget there might be a ghost!

Intended for audiences 18 years and older.

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

I was generally enjoying this one until we got to the conclusion and then it just went off the rails for me

I get what the authors were trying to do in using this book as a prequel/introductory book to their new series, but the way they went about it actually really annoyed me. We get NO resolution to the ~ghost~ in this book, and the conclusion of this book is entirely an intro to the characters in the next books (who at this point I frankly don't care about) and we don't even come back to the couple in this one. Not an auspicious start to the series.

I realize that this preview story was meant to be a teaser but hated the cliffhanger type ending. I'm at odds over whether to get the next book as there honestly wasn't much given about RIPP or Tate and Gabe.

This was a decent read...until the end. I expected this to be an encapsulated prequel novella like they usually are, but it wasn't. I expected the ghost mystery to be solved at the end of this, but instead not only is the Emerald Cabin still haunted by a violent ghost, the rest of the ski resort is infested with ghosts as well.

The epilogue is about the ghost hunting team (this one is about a pair who contact the ghost hunters), and I got lost immediately because it was about people I had no frame of reference for. It also semi-spoiled (as much as you can spoil the romance arc but still, it's the principle of the thing) the plot of the first book? I thought this was a prequel, but it takes place after the first book. Very confusing, and not at all what prequels are usually.

Pining is a favorite of mine, even dual oblivious pining, but if they were always this blatant I'm not sure how they made it seven years without giving the game away. The ghost was scary. I'm a chicken so all ghosts are scary.

The unsolved ghost story plus the weird epilogue and strange timeline with the first novel dropped my rating. Otherwise, the book was pretty good and I'll be continuing the series.

Fun

A fun introduction ro what looks to be an exciting series from Michele & Sammi. A fun and unique way to introduce a ghost hunting series that definitely makes you want to see what comes next with the team the boys hire to solve their Emerald Cabin debacle. A best friends to lovers romance that wad done in a way that you didn't want to throat punch either lead which let's be honest is reare for me in this trope. Can't wait to read what's next.

This is an amazing introduction of this new series. Gabe and Tate's story is a cute friends to lovers that I absolutely love. This might be short but I love the mystery and spookiness that this story has. Michele Notaro and Sammi Cee has made me love this new series and I can't wait for the next book.

What can I say, I adored this book!! This was another case where I went to read 10minutes before bed and ended up reading the whole thing until midnight. I really should learn with any book of Michele's, as soon as you dive in, you really don't want to leave.

Normally I don't tend to read prequels first, usually, I like to read them after I have read the first book. But before you get stuck into the series, (and trust me, this is a series that sounds like one you will get stuck into) I really would recommend reading this. It honestly made me so so excited about reading the series and introducing the main series characters in a really interesting way at the end of the book.

As always, I adore Michele's writing, and it was really nice to also be introduced to Sammi as another author . Their writing together worked so so well, it was intense, dramatic, but also had such great plot and character development. I'm so interested in finding out more about the ghosts. It's such an interesting concept, I really like what the authors are doing with it. It's so intense but so so gripping!

I'm really excited to read the first book as soon as it comes out, the ghost hunting sounds intense and will be so so interesting and exciting to read!

Keep up the amazing work as always!

This is one heck of a segue into this series. I laughed my butt off. There are some serious moments, don't get me wrong. Trying to be killed by a ghost is not exactly funny.

But what I love is Tate & Gabe's friendship. The intimacy, having each other's backs. Sure they're a little clueless about each other and how they feel, but it's still so sweet. The little things they do for each other. But when something sweet turns to something deadly, it's time to figure out what to do.

And this is where the other funny crew comes in. The RIPP guys. Two are brothers, one is a best friend. Another is a boyfriend. And they have no problems whatsoever in giving each other a hard time over everything. It's so funny. But it's actually a good setup for what's coming in book 1. We don't really get to 'see' what all they do pertaining to ghosts yet, but from whatever Tate and Gabe saw on their YouTube has got to be something very interesting.

So yeah, I'm ready for book 1. I'm ready to see where this is going to go. There are so many interesting characters in this story alone that I can't wait to see who ends up with who. Like Lincoln. I hope he gets his story. The sweet old bear.

It's a good start. You guys need to read this. It's going to be one heck of a series if this prequel is any indication.

Sweet and intriguing intro to book two in series

This book is listed as a prequel to the series, though timing wise it really runs concurrently with book one, Coldburgh train station. I actually might put it as 1.5 as it’s more of a prequel to book two.

In this novella, the manager of a ski resort and his best friend, continue to have people checking out early claiming strange happenings and hauntings. Neither is a believer and they decide to try to catch the vandals they believe are responsible for the mischief.

The real story is about the two friends who each secretly long for a relationship ship with the other but are afraid to say anything, it’s a sweet friends to lovers story with some ghostly happenings thrown in.

The ghost story serves as a prequel to book two in the series as it sets the stage for Rory and the rest of the guys to be called in to deal with whatever is going on at the resort. Those who have already read Coldburgh will recognize the description of a secondary character here. Those who read this before Coldburgh will recognize the description when it happens in that book and chuckle.

An enjoyable, quick read that sets up book two nicely. Now I just have to try to be patient waiting for it!

This is a short and sweet introduction to a new series from Michele Notaro and Sammi Cee.
Best friends, Tate and Gabe, work together at a ski resort owned by Tate's uncle. They are also crazy for each other but equally oblivious to the other's feelings. When they go to investigate a cabin reported to be haunted by several guests, an unexpected turn of events show them the light.
I love stories from these authors and they work so well together, bringing readers sweetness, heat, fun and a good plot, even in this short prequel. I'm definitely interested in seeing how this haunting unfolds and getting to know the guys of RIPP better. Tate and Gabe are too cute together, just needing that moment that can bring about bravery and nerve as they save each other but also go for what they truly want, each other. The haunting of Emerald Cabin is going to be interesting as what seems to start as quite tame evolves in to quite a bit more.
An entertaining short read and I'm excited for the first book of the new series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Gabe and Tate's romance was short, sweet, and a lot spookier than I expected!

I always find it harder to connect with characters in a short story, but Gabe and Tate were easy to love. These secretly-pining best friends just needed a push to fall into each other's arms, and even though it took a ghostly threat to make it happen I was happy to see them confess their feelings at last. The paranormal activity in this story was way more sinister than I was expecting, and it's made me really excited to see where the full-length novels in this series are going to go. I don't know if Gabe and Tate will make an appearance in the RIPP storyline, but I hope I at least get a little peek at how their relationship progresses and what's going to happen to the lodge.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Tate and Gabe met on the ski slopes almost 10 years ago and became best friends. When Tate has the opportunity to run his uncle's ski resort, he convinces Gabe to come work for him. The resort is a success for the most part. Until guests start checking out early because of ghost activity. The two decide to investigate. And come face to face with an angry murderous ghost.
While the story does a fantastic job describing the haunting (a terrifying job actually!), the real focus of this series prequel is the love story between Tate and Gabe. It's a sweet story of best friends to lovers.
My only problem with the story was it ended on a cliff hanger. To be resolved in the next book. I received an ARC of this book. And this is my review.

Stay

What do you do when two of your favorite authors team up to write a paranormal book? You devour it of course! The Ghost in the Emerald Cabin is all-around fun, with a wonderful cast and an intriguing mystery I’m buzzing to solve, but it’s also more. “This was true desire, a passion born from us knowing our person, our best friend, as well as we knew ourselves.” Gabe and Tate epitomize what an abiding friendship and love you’ll do anything to keep and protect looks like. I adore them and am so happy they took a leap. Happily, this is only the beginning for them and us as I need to know everything about RIPP and can’t wait to see what’s uncovered.

The Ghost in The Emerald Cabin was a fun introduction to the RIPP series. Sammi Cee and Michele Notaro made it so amazingly sweet, entertaining, intriguing and a bit scary, and packed within its pages a sweet romance between best friends Tate and Gabe, some ghostly spookiness and a short, entertaining introduction to the team of RIPP.

I'm perfectly happy with how the relationship between Gabe and Tate developed and I completely adored them. The ghost situation in the Emerald cabin and the introduction to the RIPP team were only teasers, and now I'm beyond excited for the next books in this series.

I really don't get it

Soooo... this book I guess is a prequel to the next book which isn't about this story at all. It basically just ends and then there is an epilog which features characters from the next book and has nothing to do with the mcs from this book. Reading the blurb tells you that the mcs from the next book are already together in this epilog but they aren't yet in the first book. It's confusing and irritating. So yeah it's just jumping everywhere and you never actually learn about the ghost in the emerald cabin. Just a waste of time and money to me. Not even interested in a single second more of this.

(3.5 rounded up to a 4)

A short and spooky story about two best friends and coworkers falling in love, and them trying to figure out what's making their guests leave. This short story was good and I think its a great prequel to this series. I liked that both of these men are non believers, it made the moments when they actually saw something that more believable. I wish there was more depth between Tate and Gabe, more buildup between the two of them but considering this is a short story, I think its good as is. They definitely have some angry spirits on their hands though, I'm curious to find out how they are going to resolve their spooky problem.

A haunted ski resort?

So is meant to be a prequel for a new series and an admit that I want to know what is going on at Tate and Gabe’s ski resort. Apparently the series isn’t about these two though but the guys they decide to have come take a look, the members of RIPP. I am interested enough to want to read the next book. I wonder how many we are going to see before they actually visit the resort? Oh well. I have enjoyed several books written by both authors so I guess that I will just have to wait and see.

Brilliant Ghostly Goings-on

A good start to the series. I really liked Tate and Gabe and hope we see them in future books. The ghostly goings on made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end until the ghost starting throwing pots at them and they hid in a closet petrified and then I found myself laughing, a lot, I’m not sure if it wasn’t partly hysterical laughter😂

The introduction of the RIPP team was amusing so I can’t wait to find out more about them and their dynamic.

Spooky an cuteness

First off, what a cliffhanger! Lol
Anyway, this wa a cute little story between Gabe and Tate finding out they love each other while being ignorant of the other's feeling.
Oh boy, a pot throwing ghost in the Emerald Cabin while the two men try to find why they keep losing customers. Can't wait to see more of this particular story in the upcoming installment. Will they find out who the ghost is and why the ghost is so angry.

Great work Michelle and Sammi!

Ski resort ghosts and friends-to-lovers

Ok, ok, I'm hooked! Take my money and give me the next book! Please! 😄

Seriously, this prequel is soon good! I'm totally invested and dying to know who and what is haunting the ski resort. I was over-the-moon when Tate and Gabe realized that they both felt the same way and that scene was tender and 🔥🔥🔥! I love the writing duo of Michele and Sammi - it's like getting two Back and and no Robins. I will read anything they write and I 1000% recommend this series, even as it's just starting! Fantastic!

Great teaser of what's to come

I received a ARC of this book for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this novella but this is more a prequal to book two and does not feed into the first book in the coming RIPP series....so mean :) The story is a best friends to lovers trope and is very sweet, I loved the characters and their relationship they were such a sweet couple. The ghost is not the main part of the story but does definitely leave you wanting the conclusion for this storyline arc and waiting for the next book.

Overall a fab story from one of my favorite writing pairs xx

I thought this was a cute, fun way to introduce a new series. Friends to lovers and I usually have a hard time because I hate the way they are wishy-washy, going back and forth on the "I can't tell him how I feel" I didn't get that here because it was so short. There's enough spook to keep things interesting and the way the characters of the RIPP team are introduced is fun. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

Loved the prequel and cannot wait for the first full length book. Tate and Gabe are such a fun pair, young and enjoying their life and have no idea how to get rid of the ghost. Enter the Researchers in Paranormal Phenomenon, who are just getting known from their video's on Youtube. Rory and Thad are the researchers, along with Dane and Brooks. I think this will be a great series--looking forward to it.

💗👻👻A great start to this short prequel novella. I loved Gabe and Tate's banter and playing. But it's not long Gabe feels the chills if the Emerald Cabin. There's nothing like a good spook to scare the bejeasus out of you to find love.
A fantastic HFN ending and a great lead up to the new series...I can't wait to read more..
A freinds to lovers, sexy scenes and scary spooks..
Gabe was worker of the ski resort owned by Tate but guest complaints about haunted nights in emerald cabin.

As far as prologues go, this one is a good stage setting, but as far as I understood from the epilogue, we will not be getting a continuation of this story in book 1 of the series, which is a bit confusing. Both MCs were cute and the story showed a quick progress from best friends to lovers. I'd love to see where it goes next, alas, we are made to wait for this one.
Nevertheless, I am intrigued enough I will read the next book for sure.

I devoured this in one sitting! This was a great introduction to a new series. I’m a huge fan of friends to lovers and add in some paranormal and I’m hooked. Gabe and Tate have been friends for a while and also run a ski resort together. Recently they’ve had complaints from guests saying weird things are happening in the emerald cabin. They go and check it out and it’s a lot more sinister than I expected. Looking forward to reading the rest in this series.
