About the author

Holly Jackson was born in 1992. She grew up in Buckinghamshire and started writing stories from a young age, completing her first (poor) attempt at a book aged fifteen.

'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' is a YA Mystery Thriller and her debut novel. She lives in London and aside from reading and writing, she enjoys binge-playing video games and pointing out grammatical errors in street signs.

Overview:

The story was very fast paced and I found myself not wanting to put it down as we went down the twists and turns who could be the killer. I am very satisfied with how the story of that was played out and that it wasn’t overly predictable.

I rated the characters as average however though, perhaps because I struggle with a third person narrative after reading so many first person views or simply because we didn’t get down to who they were as people since there were so many of them. I didn’t necessarily feel attached one way or another I just wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery. This however doesn’t take away it still being a great young adult mystery book.

Que buenos libros carajo, me gusto mucho el plot y me parece bien que la relación de Ravi y Pippa fuera puesta en segundo plano.
Quizá algo que no me encanto del todo es el ultimo plot twist, el de el niño de no se qué. No fue mi favorito, a mi parecer muy sacado de la nada.

I loved these two books so much, I am currently reading the third one and it’s amazing so far.
I recommend “a good girls guide to murder” to everyone who just started out reading because it’s also what got me to read. It’s a pretty easy read in my opinion you can get through a lot with just one sitting. These books makes me love characters so much and hate some so much, I will not lie I teared me up in the second book and loved it a lot more than the first.

Everyone in Fairview knows the story of Andie Bell’s murder by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who killed himself after. Five years later, Pip sees just how the tragedy is still haunting the town. She feels that there is more to what happened that day. She believes that Sal may be innocent and decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project. She starts to discover dark secrets that could just prove Sal’s innocence. Someone doesn’t want Pip digging for answers and now her life may be in danger. Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder #2) was a great read by Holly Jackson. Pip is no longer a detective. She released a true-crime podcast with Ravi Singh, about the murder case that they solved last year. The podcast went viral and Pip says that her days investigating are behind her. Unfortunately, someone she knows goes missing and she must break that promise. Jamie Reynolds disappeared on the same night that there was a memorial for the sixth-year anniversary of Andie Bell and Sal Singh's deaths. The police wont look into Jamie's disappearance and Pip says that she will figure it out. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

4.5/5: Both books kept me guessing for a long time and were difficult to put down. Now, I can't wait to read the other two! Both stories revolve around small-town secrets and characters who have something to hide. Holly Jackson reveals information slowly, leaving readers in the dark for much of the story. Some may find this approach too slow, but I think the gradual build-up adds to the suspense and makes the mysteries feel more gripping. I had some questions: How can an ordinary schoolgirl gain access to so much sensitive information? Why are some people so willing to reveal their secrets to her? Do some discoveries and confessions feel a little too convenient? But still, the books didn’t lose its entertainment value.
In A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Pip is intelligent, determined and highly willing to take risks. The central case is strong, complex and full of suspects. In Good Girl, Bad Blood, Pip appears more mature, emotional and psychologically complex. The sequel offers several genuinely surprising twists and once again managed to keep me guessing. It also provides deeper insight into how the investigations affect Pip’s personal life. I would say that I liked the story of the sequal (Good Girl, Bad Blood) a little bit more -> more depth somehow. But prefer Pip's calmer and cooler personality in the first book.

I was in a book slump at the time that I came across these fabulous books. Jackson did such a great job by helping me want to read more and not just sit on your phone all day. Currently reading as good as dead (third book in the series) and CANNOT wait to finish. Definitely recommend!!
