The Book Club meets Hocus Pocus in this Paranormal Women's Fantasy! A snobby bobcat, a catfight with your bestie, and a fiery blaze in a restaurant. Yeah, Magic's just great... Isn't it awesome to point at something and make it move just because you can? Or touch someone and know their true inner thoughts? Or have a magical bobcat watch your back and guard you like some Navy Seal? Except... The bobcat's a pompous snot. Learning secrets violates boundaries and is sometimes TMI And the biggest thing you can magically propel is a glass of water. That spills. Yeah, totally awesome. NOT
Shannon, Mary-Jane, and Libby are still learning that the casting of spells comes at a cost. As if the trials of middle age: empty nest, man troubles, difficulties at work, and business disasters aren't enough, they're also doing their best to get the hang of the powers bestowed by The Witching Well.
Sure, casting a spell is easy-peasy. You just twitch your nose or wave your wand and ta-dah! Not so much in the real world.
And what happens if you piss off one of your besties and she hexes YOU? How in the world (or even the next one with Aunt Maeve...) is Shannon going to clean up these messes?
I admit I'm bit on the fence in the turnaround from Steve to Devon but the story for Shannon and her friends is definitely growth, especially with their magical fourth. Jumping between character takeover took a bit getting used to and there were a couple of instances where I realized a character said Shannon but it was actually a different character cause I had to backtrack to make sure I hadn't skipped something somehow. Overall I loved the story though on the fence with the whole Devon vs Steve but look forward to the continuing saga of the Witching Well and its witches!
A pentagram. PENT equals 5. Not a star of David with 6. And bobcats are small. Like 40 pounds. The author makes it sound like it is a panther out there. As for the story. These women are awful to each other. I cannot believe they claim to be friends. I have never in my life thought of acting like this with someone I care about. These 40 year old women act like they are in middle school.
We don't just have plot twists, we have full on plot spirals! Their friendship is growing as much as their powers and it's so fickle. I can't wait for the next book to see what magical mess they get in to next.
I enjoyed the book. But as I think back on the story, I am having a tough time describing the plot. There did not seem to be a cohesive plot with a beginning and an end. To briefly sum it up, several women get witch powers, and break all the rules trying to use their powers. They end up hurting each others feelings, but being good friends, they make up and do better. Women's fiction. There seemed like a thread of a plotline in books 1 and 2 regarding a man who is trying to buy up property in the area, but that did not go anywhere. I am not really into just women's fiction and relationship dramas. But that does not make this a bad book, just not my preferred genre. I will see how book 3 goes.
Shannon, MJ, and Libby's magic has intensified but so has their problems and to top it all off the bobcat is still hanging around. Messed up magic and spells has this trio causing problems all over town not to mention another witch who maybe a friend or enemy watching their every move. I really enjoyed this quirky story but the ending just didn't sit well with me because it was left so open. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition. I received this book for free at my own request. I highly recommend book 1 and 2.
I like the plot for this series and the interactions between the characters kept me reading. But, as usual, I fault the editor: how hard is it to call out a distracting repeated phrase? "Her face tightened." I kept envisioning a sort of facelift, pulling the skin back to the ears. "Tear a double strip off him.." There were other weird grammatical errors but those phrases were repeated way too often, by too many characters. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to book three!
This is the second book in the series and I just really think it’s a fun book. Both of them have been fun and interesting and the way they work with the magic and everything is just really great so I enjoy the relationships between the friends and the magic and all the other good stuff that they have in there they do have twist and terms quite a bit. My son wouldn’t like it because it’s like I love you. I don’t love you and he always hates that kind of thing but this is a great book.
Though I love the continuation of the story from book 1 to book 2, I strongly Dislike MJs Narsisitic additude towards Shannon. This part of the book made me give only 4 Stars instead of 5. Really! Really! Dislike how self centered, and Nosey she is. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and was laughing my bumm off at Poor Shannon's inability to keep her thoughts from falling out of her mouth. LOL. Narrator does a good job with the characters and storyline.
This is the second installment on this series. The three main characters are bumbling through midlife and learning the craft. Spells are going haywire and it’s giggle inducing. This one doesn’t focus so much in there midlife as their mishaps. Love is in the air but will it pan out? The narrator does a good job. I would like ore distinctions on the characters voices but over all she does well and is an enjoyable listen on my walks through the trails this week!
So this one was better than the first. Undoubtedly the bossiness and selfishness in book 1 was leading to something…. It took a little while to understand but then it just hit me! You still need to read book 1 first so you’ll really grasp what all is going on though. Definitely turned out to be a great book and I can’t wait for book 3!!
The girls are at it again and even though they mean well, sometimes they just don't understand. I really enjoyed #2 in this series and I'm starting on the final in the series now. I love the friendship and the burdens of life which they learn to conquer together. I don't want to spoil things but I needed tissues towards the very end as my heart broke and worried for a loved one... you'll see!
So this story is told from 3 POVs and while that's great I'm annoyed with how much these ladies act like they're in middle school and it's exhausting. I really didn't like how Steve acts throughout the book. He seemed ok at first then he's all domineering and acting like they're in a relationship not just friends. Also what's up with Devon? I don't think I'll be continuing on with this series
Shelley Dorey did it again bringing to life the town of Wesley. Shannon, Libbey, Mary Jane and Cynthia have become a coven. Novice witches the first three have learned another valuable lesson about magic never cast a spell in anger, Shannon has a familiar and Libbey can communicate with animals.
Spellbound is the 2nd in this new series. 4.6 stars
Difficult to watch all the magic tripping them up and trying to trick them up. There are so many ways to confuse the women when they trip over the spells working over them and the love interests and furbabies they care about. Don't miss this one.
Another great read from this author, a little bit of drama well actually a whole lot of drama, suspense and magic. The series is getting a little bit more deeper with the characters and magic which I enjoyed. And the ladies are coming more together. Interested to see how the next chapter unfolds.
A lot better than the first book. I knew Steve would dork it up somehow. Funny how the ladies were acting like kids but at least the story is coming together. Of course the best parts are with Bob. Like how he was bringing stuff to her door step.
This book left me dizzy! Reading thoughts from Mary Jane, Libby and Shannon left me turning in circles! So much happened between the three of them! It was difficult to keep up at times! I still look forward to book three in this amazing, magical series!
I am enjoying this series. The characters are fun and the supernatural is a nice touch. I sometimes find them more.immature then they needed to be, but am hopeful it will all work out in the third book.
I enjoyed the first book, but this one was not as fun. The characters changed and were less likable. Some funny parts, but more uncomfortable than funny mostly.
... than the first book in my opinion. Loved the plot and how the characters are growing. Hoping Robert is okay. Guess we'll find out in the next book.
this book just keeps getting better. I think this one was the funniest, I really can't wait for the next book to come out. the narrator did a good job too.
