After destroying Par and Ral's main temple in a manner that no one expected, the other gods of the Seven Worlds have realized that William is not your typical champion, and that Feliogustus isn't some backwater provincial god. William however is still faced with the need to get his revenge on Par and Ral, and wants at the very least to see Par's religion erased, her followers killed and her remaining temples destroyed.
Something which Feliogustus is in complete accord with.
Thankfully, there are other gods, well-established gods, who are more than willing to join their forces to the cause. Some because they fear Par and Ral, some for the fame, glory, and followers they will gain, and some because they seek an allegiance with a god they believe will one day be a force to be reckoned with. For William, he just wants to avenge his son's murder, help his daughter spread the word of Feliogustus among the orcs, and go home to spend time with his wives.
But there are still some people who just don't seem to understand exactly what Will is capable of doing when pushed.
I've had a very varied life. I grew up in New York, on Long Island. I went to school to become an Engineer, then joined the Air Force. After that I worked first in Robotics, then in Aerospace as a Flight Test Engineer. I moved into the medical fields, then into more Technical markets working for a number of high tech companies where I became a Contractor. I used to own and raise big cats. I love motorcycles and old cars. I'm a pilot and former martial arts instructor. I'm a fan of the Reno Air Races. Then there's the stuff I'm not supposed to talk about, but that's another story. I've seen a lot of interesting stuff go by, met a lot of interesting, wonderful, strange, or sometimes just psychotic people. I've had the opportunity to work on some truly game changing technologies. And while I've had some very bad things happen to me in my life, I've never let it stop me. Keep smiling. -John
Dont know why but the book left me with a hollow felling at the end. It was great just like the past books but some of the shit that happens in this one gets you mad and sad at the same time. Not to say that it took away from the book becuse it was really good i enjoyed it. Will unfortunately gets some heart break in this book but that sort of gets resolved i look forward to the next book, hopefully it doesn't take too long
How awesome is this book? I bought this book around 11pm because I couldn't leave it where book 9 ended. I Told myself I'd put it down and go to bed at the first "slow part". I ended up reading this through to 5 am. It never let up. If you've read this far I don't need to convince you. before this I didn't think the author could out do the Valens Legacy, but I'm starting to think he just may have.
Fantasy portals magic harem adult situations Wiping anything out is problematic, and a lot of innocents get caught in the crossfire. Interesting questions raised, and indirect condemnation of urban life as too weak, to citified to do what "really" needs doing; it's sort of like the myth of the "olden times" being better when those living in such times talked about the nostalgia of what those believed to have their olden times -- times never existed except in the fantasies of those unsatisfied with their own lives. Urban and rural each emphasize different skill sets, different values, and even personalities to succeed. Literally, where one will find success and a sense of well-being, in the other environment, reap frustration and failure. For example, during the Old West, living much less doing well was for most a harsh struggle. Yet after Frederick Jackson Turner declared the Old West gone in 1890, many suddenly yearned for what they imagined they had "lost," not what the reality truly was. The fantasies of the dime novels and later Western movies are how many believe life was, ascribing a sense of nobility to vanished way of life that never was. Many so-called noble pioneer settlers living on the frontier worked hard to bring in the very government and laws that Western devotees now eschew. Myth doesn't have to make sense to give comfort; the danger is in trying to salve the sense of discontent with believing those who lived in the past were somehow noble, righteous, and decisive when they were nothing of the sort; they struggled to find their own sense of purpose and made plenty of their own mistakes. In short, they were human, too. Myths that provide comfort and courage are useful and good; myths that are used to denigrate, spread discontent and hate are lies and for those able to see the self-serving illusion, need to reject it because it sows discord and division. We need warriors. We also need academics, poets, musicians, farmers, engineers, and more. Urban lifestyles are no better and certainly no worse than rural ones; they're just different. A civilization needs both to thrive.
Will has to finish what he started: the utter destruction of Ral and Par's faith. Divine politics complicate things, so do old enemies of his friends. It is a good addition to the series, giving the readers a reminder that Will is not always a nice guy (which might be a bit off putting to some readers) and that living in a civilized world is not the best preparation for war. Will had a bit of an easy time (despite the event at the end), more so then in some other parts of the series, giving the whole thing a bit of a rushed feel at times especially the event at the end. Still, I enjoyed the book and looking forward to the next part.
This has been a 5 star series all the way. It definitely ended with a bang and a boom. Will had to open multiple cans of kick ass on those who thought that they were the smartest guys in the room, but he disabused them of that false notion. Yes, he was still getting the girls while kicking ass and taking names. It was sad to see a gf get wacked, but we all have an expiration date. On the other hand, the champs playing in the big pond were finally put in their place since they failed to complete their jobs. I look forward to reading more of John Van Stry's work
A good continuation of the series. The last 3 books have focused on the seven worlds. Not as much of Rachel and Darlene. Not as much Laria. Still good but not my favorite worlds. I enjoy the books were there is a group of champions that have to go on a mission through multiple portals and get to experience new worlds. This one I felt was just going through the motions when the surprise turn of events happened.
I never have complaints picking up a book in this series and flying through it. The pace is fast and a lot gets done even in a shorter book. One thing happened towards the end that really got my emotions going, this tells me the book was great while making me equally sad.
My favorite portal series by far. One of my favorite series in general. I really enjoy all the different worlds and races that we get to experience. I think the MC may be my favorite in any series. He's all extremes, whether love or war he's always all in. I think I'm going to re-read them again.
It’s been a while since the last book and remembering all the characters was a little difficult, but this book was worth the effort. This book was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for the MC which had me the reader also feeling shock, sadness, anger, vengeance and more which is a sign of a good book. Looking forward to more.
POI is one of my favorite series and book 10 didn’t disappoint. Will is a great character and his many girlfriends and wives are all likable as well. I am looking forward to the next book.
Omg. Such a good emotional roller coaster. One minute I'm laughing at the banter between the mc and Dani, then pumped fighting battles, then soooo sad. Even at book 10 its still a great book series.
Solid writing, firm consistent plot, well defined characters. I appreciate the work that goes into these books. This one is a character defining story and I always approve of that.
I laughed, I cried, I wanted to help William murder his enemies. Van Stry sucked me into the story so well that I felt the intense emotions of the godslayer as if they were my own. I want more.
Great read. Adventure, romance, war, everything anyone could want in a series. Only bad thing about it, like all great series is it ends, leaving you wanting more. Thank you and think about adding more to the series
Still one of the best series of books I've read on here. Dani was a sad moment as she was a great character but love how William acts and the dynamic with Fel and how he spoils him.
The series seems to have run long and is using filler to add to the series. The MC is not my favorite, you want to be a good husband or father, rule one is to be there. That is where he falls down, he is a deadbeat dad showing up from time to time for the holidays.
This book of the portals of Infiniti series has a lot more depth and more behind the entire book series. If you want to learn more about the universe behind the portals of infinity book series, take a good look at this book.
After reading this series 6 times I still enjoy it. Great characters and many more worlds to explore. Looking forward to reading the story for the 7th time.
Amazing as usual, really sad we lost a char and it was very very sad. Will definitely matures so much more compare to the first few books in the series and I hope the next release doesn't take a year...i can only reread the entire series so many times lol
An excellent continuation that i hope leads to more stories of william and his family. Some tear jerkers in this one but it only makes the story all the better for it.
