This has been a really good part of my day.
There are 50 lessons in all, doing one per day helped me become very proficient in reading Spanish.

I have used this book so much it is falling apart. I started learning Spanish but joining (and later heading up) as Spanish language group. This was one of the textbooks we used and I still think it is one of the best readers (it is a bit more than a reader) out there.

When we finished this book I looked for others like this and never found another that compared.

The book is set up in chapters that have a section to read in Spanish (for the majority of the book the English is on the other side of the page so you can cover it up if you are more advanced). Then there are questions and answer sections about the story to help with vocabulary usage and comprehension. There is also some grammar and vocabulary.

Advantages
1) The book will take you from beginner to intermediate
2) the vocabulary and situations chosen for this book are very useful for the traveler and those trying to do business in Spanish speaking countries. I was going back and forth to South America while working through this book and always found the chapter I just studied useful in my travels
3)The book is great for reading comprehension and unlike other readers will last you a LONG time. Many of the other readers you can read in a few days.

Disadvantage
1) this book's grammar explanation is a bit weak SO do also buy a grammar book to use as a reference. There are not a lot of grammar drills etc in this book.
2) I did find some errors in this book.

I had this book years ago when I first learned spanish. I got it again as a grammar review. I like the methodology of teaching used in the book.
