But when her friends coax her into a girls’ night out, she surprises herself by giving a business card to a ruggedly handsome stranger…

PI Reuben “Ben” Murray is a career bachelor. And watching a pretty girl from afar for a job is nothing unusual for this former LA cop. But as soon as he meets this one up close and personal, her allure threatens to overwhelm his usual practice of not touching the merchandise.

Despite her concerns that he’s harboring secrets, Neesa can’t help but fall hard for the charming man. But as Ben discovers the facts behind his client’s obsession with her, he fears the truth may take the life of the only woman he’s ever truly loved.

Can Neesa and Ben survive a deadly surprise that could claim more than their hearts?

Chasing Neesa was a story that I absolutely loved. Obviously it follows Neesa, a woman who hasn't had much luck with relationships as she tends to always choose wrong (I totally feel her pain LOL). Luckily, she has some great friends who won't let her sit & wallow, so she comes face to face with Ben, on a girls night out. Ben is a PI who is actually watching her for a client, but it doesn't take long before those lines become very blurry. She senses he's hiding things (which he is), but she can't seem to let him go either because they're seriously perfect for each other. Little does he know that the job he took isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and Neesa is actually in danger. With twists coming in hot, secrets that don't make friends, heat, and big time danger, this story hit my sweet spot. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The first third of this book was slow and somewhat confusing. It was really an effort to push through it, but the book did eventually pick up. There was some decent excitement near the end, and Reuben’s mysterious background was interesting as well. A few of the side characters—like Annabel—could’ve been a bit more developed since some of their actions didn’t fully make sense, but the main characters were given a good amount of depth.

Their relationship, though, wasn’t captivating. I tired of Neesa’s stubbornness. I like when the heroine makes the hero chase after her, but Neesa took things a touch too far. And Reuben didn’t wow me. He would talk about how much he liked Neesa and how she was different from everyone else, and then he would shift to discussing how he was just waiting to grow tired of her. I’m not a fan of such an indecisive hero. His actions near the end of the book in response to changes in their relationship also weren’t impressive. Overall, he wasn’t that dependable or romantic.

In summary, this story had some interesting moments—especially in the last half of the book. However, the romance was generally disappointing.

*I received an ARC of this book. This is my complete and honest review.*

This is the 1st in a new series. Denise /Neesa is approaching 30 and is single due to a series of bad decision regarding men. When Neesa is on a night out with her friends she is surprised when a charming and sexy man makes her an offer she cannot refuse. Reuben / Ben is a private investigation, who is watching her target from afar, for his client, but he cannot help but be intrigued by her. When Ben discovers the reason for his client’s obsession, he is in a quandary. This is a good story which has secrets, trust, truth, suspense, intrigue, humor, emotions, and is an entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.
