A demanding chef and a straight former soldier: Taking orders has never been so hot!

Veteran and bar manager Tyler Hewitt has too much on his plate. His old Army buddy is hanging on by a thread, his father is recovering from surgery, and he’s temporarily running the Hawk Point Tavern while the owner is away.

Chef Donovan Ryan is always the one in charge—in the kitchen and in the bedroom. So it doesn’t sit well when he has to answer to Tyler. They’ve always butted heads, but without a buffer, the tension has never been higher.

Until one night when their sparks go up in flames.

Tyler is sure he’s only into kink if he’s the one dishing it out, but Donovan’s control leaves him hungry for more.

Hooking up is one thing. Love is another.

Can Tyler embrace taking orders from a civilian, or will Donovan have to give up his dream of a collared submissive to keep the man he loves?

Made to Order includes: hot tempers, CBT, breath play, kinky kitchen implements, and nosy grandmothers.

3.75 "Thank you for taking care of me" stars

"What I did in the past was good. I liked it. But this is something else. This feels right in a way the other things never did. Maybe I'm bisexual. Maybe I am a little switchy. But at the end of the day, I just want what we have. I just want you"

Sexual exploration is my favorite thing in books. Me enjoying a book about a guy who always thought he was straight and dominant but realizes that he is bisexual and falls for a man and that he loves to submit to that man was a given. I really loved the premise of this book and it was everything I want in a book.

Brief summary
Donovan is a cook who’s alone and lonely because he’s always working. Tyler is the bar manager at the restaurant where Donovan works. They don’t really like each other and are always a little rude to each other. Tyler, who thought he was straight, starts being attracted to Donovan. Donovan mentions to Tyler how he’s into kink and how he would love to dominate Tyler and they go from there and fall in love.

First, as I mentioned before, these two are into kink, Tyler is the sub and Donovan is the dom. I really loved Tyler’s reason for submitting were lovely and I really enjoyed how it made sense with his life story. Tyler was in the military and he misses the structured life and someone telling him orders and he just has to follow them. And it just made so much sense to me and I really loved it for that.

Second, I love sexual exploration in books. Tyler always thought he was straight and dominant. So him being with a man for the first time and exploring his submissive side was always going to make me happy. I absolutely loved the sexual exploration in this book. I liked how everything didn’t come easily to Tyler and how it took him time to get used to everything but how he still wanted to explore, it was so good.

Third, the sex scenes were really fucking hot and I adored them, very much. The kink was also lovely and I very much enjoyed it, we got chocking, bondage, the use of kitchen tools for spanking, pain play, and a little hate sex. Also, I loved how they talked about things and what they like and enjoy but it never felt like it was too much and like I was reading a class about how to practice safe BDSM, which I really enjoyed. Also, I’m probably the only person that this will bother but I didn’t like how the sex scenes after the I love you’s were either really short and not really kinky or fade to black. There were so many long descriptive sex scenes before they officially got together but none after they officially got together and it wasn’t my favorite thing ever.

Fourth, my biggest issue with the book was that I don’t really like side characters in books and if I like them, it’s because they do not distract from the main couple. Tyler’s best friend, Eddie, was struggling and his issues were shown in detail and he was talked about in at least 15% of the book. His story was interesting but I wasn’t reading the book for him so I found myself not being interested in what was happening to him, I just wanted to go back to the couple I’m reading the book for. Also, Donovan’s ex comes back and causes a lot of drama by trying to win back Donovan and he even tries to get with Tyler. I just wanted to skip those parts and go back to the relationship, I really don’t enjoy ex drama in books.

Fifth, they had been together for 6 months before they exchanged I love you’s and I still didn’t feel like they were at that point yet. The pacing of the book didn’t really work for me. The way the book was done was that we only got to see a couple of scenes happening over months and I couldn’t really feel their connection and how their relationship grew, it would have helped me to spend more time with the main characters so I could understand why they were at the I love you part when they said it, because it still felt like they were only with each other for the kink and not for a relationship to me.

I really enjoyed this book for the sexual exploration in it, that was so good, I absolutely this kind of sexual exploration.

I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.

and his eyes were especially bright blue today, like the water out in the bay probably looked, glistening under the summer sun.

🤌 Beautiful representation of a D/s dynamic
🤌 The sexual tension
🤌 The hate sex
🤌 the Struggle Play 🙏
🤌 Both MCs character growth
🤌 “if it doesn't scare the shit out of you, it isn't worth doing.
🤌 The growth of their relationship 🥺

It’s funny you say that,” Donovan said thoughtfully. “Because I think in the end, that’s what separates Doms from subs. Which role feels like it’s harder. Which feels like it’s a ton of work and which feels freeing

“Nice job with the toy.” Donovan teased it in and out, sending more sparks zipping up Tyler’s spine. “Though I’m a little sad I don’t get to use the other end on you again. That was fun.”
“I hate you a little bit,” Tyler said.
Donovan let out a throaty laugh. “Oh, I know you do. That’s the best part of this for me. Making you mad. Making you all surly and resentful because you’re loving this.”

Initial review
Despite this Godforsaken distasteful cover, (god I hate the color green) this book is actually really good.

I did the mistake of picking this book even though I had dnfed the first book of this series. This mistake I am not going to repeat. In short, not reading anything more from this series. The D/s relationship was okayish but how it happened and developed requires total suspension of belief.

A guy who had no prior experience of same sex attraction, is suddenly okay with anal penetration on his first time with a guy in D/s setting. Plus, he was full on top guy and now he is a happy full time sub???

Nothing special even about the BDMS scenes, they feel repetitive and boring.

Eeeeeeeh, ¿me encantó?

Donovan y Tyler me encantaron. Tyler es un chiquito hermoso y Donovan un dom espectacular.

Pd: quiero la historia de Eddie, en serio😭😭😭😭.

So this was the third book of the Naughty in Pendleton series I´ve read and I have to say, that I totally appreciate Brigham Vaughn´s writing. I really enjoy reading kinky romance storys but I often feel like they are super mean and unnecessairyly cruel. In this series there is kink, there are scenes, but there ist also tenderness and love - I toally dig that. Totally enjoyed this series so far and can´t wait for the next one!

I typically loathe enemies to lovers but holy cow does this book make me love it. It takes a good writer to get from a negative space to love and make it believable. Add in the absolutely ON FIRE sex and the positively sweet way they came together? Ugh. I just can’t. It is SO GOOD. Brigham is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Not being my favorite genre, this book is interesting in that the submissive is not at all what is expected. A military veteran who also bartender and a chef are the MCs. The bad working relationship between the two is carried into personal life and Tyler discovers his sub strand when it is provoked by Donovan
Another interesting book in which I found myself taking the pains of Tyler and his veteran friends, especially the relationship with Eddie

favorite of the series

The relationship development between these two characters felt very real. The animosity at first that turned into so much more.

I really liked both characters. Donovan was the perfect person to push all of Tyler’s buttons. The push and pull was perfect. Their chemistry was SUPER hot as well. Kinky fun.

I’m sure Jude will be redeemed in the next book. But in this one he’s an epic jerk.

This had a perfect HEA and I really liked how the next book will dovetail into the series.

M/M
Enemies to lovers
Dom/Sub
Kink
Workplace romance

Donovan is a Chef who is into relationships despite a bad break up. He is also into kink. Tyler is an ex military veteran and the manager of the bar in the same attached restaurant. He claims to be straight despite his attraction to the Chef and claims he does not want a relationship. They do not get along.

This can be read as a standalone. I read book 1 but I hadn't read book 2 yet. I absolutely loved book 1 but I had a much harder time getting into this one. I love a good enemies to lovers book but in this case Donovan came across as a huge D. It made him really unlikable. The chemisty felt forced to me and when things first happened between them it seemed to come out of nowhere, too abrupt and fast. It wasn't natural. Even further into it they didn't really have chemisty outside of the bedroom. The high heat scenes were what carried most of the story. I also didn't like how much info was dropped about a side character. It took over and distracted from the relationship. I didn't hate this one but definately didn't love it. Though I absolutely loved the Grandma. She was hilariously naughty.

It was cute overall
So they work together Donavan is the head chef and Tyler is Bar Manger at the same tavern

Tyler was curious of the bdsm lifestyle and kinks, Donavan is a Dom who was into Tyler. They were kinda enemies to lovers bc it went against Donavan Dom personality to takes orders from Tyler & Tyler struggled to submit even tho he craved it. So they made an arrangement read it to find out. They were perfect for each other. Tyler’s submission was beautiful loved that.

Eddie’s situation was troubling, more so because it’s real life and it happens to so many military families.

Idk about Jude, he just felt too pushy and creepy to me.

Steam-3ish/5 sadist and masochist, spankings, bondage, role play,Tyler wanted to be forced into scenes/submission idk what you’d call that, some more im not thinking of

Donovan and Tyler were so good together...eventually. In the beginning they were constantly butting heads at their job where Tyler was a bartender and Donovan was a chef at the local tavern. Their relationship started slowly. Tyler considered himself to be straight, so it was very new for him to find himself submitting to a man. But once he decided to give it a try, he was all in. There was all kinds of kink in the book, including a very hot, sexy and kinky cooking lesson. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Tyler and Donovan are quite the pair with the arguments. I loved all of the disagreements between them. Both men are both I’m in charge kind of person. But Tyler wants someone to help him let go and forget just for a few. Donovan is a Dom and can help Tyler find himself in a relaxed state. Together they find out that both love what each other can give.

I did receive an Arc for a review.

DNF @ 8%

I'm confused by this book. Chapter 1 was so disjointed it was near impossible to read. A memory is inserted with no formatting or explanation that the time frame has changed. We start in the present where Grandma is asking if Donovan has found anyone, he says no, then a few paragraphs later he brushing his boyfriend's hand. The flashback ends without a bit of transition, that was hoe I pieced together that we'd ended up 10 years in the past at some point. I had to reread the transitions twice and then came back when I got to the DNF point to make sure I was being fair and that I hadn't missed something the first 2 times. Maybe I AM missing something? The reviews I've read are positive and didn't mention this.

Anyway, I was annoyed by the first chapter and then I couldn't stop being annoyed by anything that was less than smooth. I couldn't get into anything and I felt like it was a big info dump. Maybe if I'd read the previous 2 books I'd have cared more about the info, as it was I felt bored and started skimming.

The DNF came when one of the MC's is mad at the other because he uses a nickname for the bar/restaurant owner they both work with/for. He's pissed and feels like if ANYONE should get to use a nickname for their friend, it's him 😡 Even if the other MC grew up with their coworker.

I mean, whatever, I get that it's a thinly veiled attempt to cover the fact that he's attracted to a man and he's finding ways to stay in denial. It was still annoying. I was already confused and bored, I didn't have any room left for annoyed.

There's a forward where the author thanks their beta readers, did no one notice the first chapter doesn't make sense? Did I somehow get a version that wasn't meant to be released? It was the only one available on KU. I dunno.

I'd be open to reading something else by this author but would be reluctant.

Hate and love being opposites, the tension between Tyler and Donovan with the antagonistic nature of their work relationship is unrealised foreplay.

This is a kinky BDSM read with us returning to Pendleton.

It's well written and the way Tyler realises who he is and what he wants from a partner and a relationship with Donovan is great.

The ex moment well he was a bit of an ass and Tylers coming out moment both added depth and the angst needed to the story.

Made to Order is the third book in Brigham Vaughn's Naughty in Pendleton series. It's a MM kinky romance told from a third person dual point of view with a guaranteed happily ever after. This book can be read as a complete standalone. You can expect two men with fiery tempers, CBT, breath play, kinky kitchen implements, and nosy grandmothers.

As always, review the content and trigger warnings to decide if this book is right for you. Note that this list may be incomplete.
“Have you found any new men to tie up lately, honey?” Donovan Ryan rubbed his forehead.
“Grandma June, can we not discuss my love life? Please.”

Urgh, I love the kinky small town of Pendleton and it's always good to visit in through this series! This is Donovan and Tyler's story, which we got little glimpses of in Embracing His Shame and Three Shots. Once again, Brigham has introduced us to a new couple with a completely new dynamic! When we meet veteran Tyler, he's confident he's straight. But he can't seem to keep himself from riling Chef Donovan up. Donovan is still recovering from a messy breakup that left him questioning whether or not finding a submissive he can collar is even worth it anymore. On the surface, these two men with fiery personalities shouldn't work. But watching them introduce Tyler to kink and seeing each of them getting what they need was just great. I like how their dynamic and kinks are decidedly different than the two other couples (who we get little cameos for, yay!) and as I've come to expect with Brigham's books, the kink is done safely and enjoyably for both parties involved. Although this book had some heavier themes, particularly with Tyler's army buddy suffering from PTSD, however, this was a pretty light read other than that. Steamy, swoony, and sweet at times.

What's interesting is that we meet Donovan's ex, Jude. He definitely wasn't my favourite character, yet the next book in the series is his story! I'm so intrigued to read Flipping the Switch and seeing what happens.
“Because I fucking want you,” Donovan admitted with a little growl. “I don’t like you being in charge because I have so many damn things I’d like to do to you.”

I really enjoyed reading this slow-burn MM romance that has an intriguing “enemies to lovers” undertone & it covers a gay executive chief (Donovan) who is a part-owner of Hawk Point Tavern & a straight ex-military staff sergeant (Tyler) who is a bar manager there. It has an interesting, well-paced plot with good world building & scene descriptions. The strong-willed characters are well-developed with perfectly flawed personalities & are inclined to be confrontational but they continued to develop throughout the storyline to become a likeable, well-adjusted couple. (I must mention that I was quite impressed at how delicately the author approached the PTSD issues) The secondary characters played wonderful supporting roles.
There is: Donovan’s business partner (Rachael), a very broadminded grandmother (June), a ex-boyfriend (Jude), humour, friendship, drama, disagreements, animosity, chemistry, fantasies, strange attractions, compromises, consensual BDSM scenes, complications, steamy scenes, contentment & a happy conclusion. I would recommend this MM romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.

A truly wonderful journey into kink where a man finds his submission as a thing of beauty and as something that fulfills him.
The story is so perfectly paced and beautifully balanced, it's a joy to read! Highly recommended and will be a re-read for sure!

Very fun enemies to lovers read. Just loved Donovan and how he communicated with Tyler. There’s some harder stuff too in the background that balanced well with the romance and added more depth.

🔥🔥🔥A great start as Donovan and Tyler butt heads over strawberries use in the bar. Oh Rachel gives Tyler the temp management position while she's away which doesn't go down well. The guys are both alpha personalities although Tyler is straight??. Hot connections that start simmering. yah Tyler might be in for a surprise there “Fuck if I’d ever get on my knees for a guy. Especially you.”
Smoking hot scenes and I loved Tyler's egging Donovan on to do his Dom things on him. New experiences for a straight Tyler that he'd never explored before. The kitchen gets hot sexy scenes. I loved scenes that I felt angst for them both with their roles in the relationship. Tyler struggles with the submission and Donovan wants his love our of the closet.
A beautiful ending for them both, I loved this from the start to finish.

Donovan 28 was a chef at the tavern and didn't get much social life. His grandmother always liked to know about his love life just a little too much.
Tyler 34 was the bar manager and was straight or hed thought so, until Donovan. He also had an ex military team mate that worried him.

I absolutely loved Tyler as a character. He’s dealing with a lot— a friend who is his brother in everything but blood who’s struggling with life after the military. His own sense of being adrift after military service. Caring for aging parents. Dealing with a jerk at work. (More on that jerk later, because, of course, that’s his love interest). Tyler is kind, noble, stubborn, and incredibly brave: he weathers changes in how he perceives who he is and what he wants with incredible fortitude, and it’s impossible not to respect that. He’s a great guy, and he deserves the best. Is that best Donovan? I was, tbh, conflicted about that, at least at first.

The biggest sticking point for me at the beginning of the novel was how much I didn’t like Donovan. I adore this author’s ability to write Doms who transcend the “pushy jerk” cliche— being dominant doesn’t have to mean treating everyone around you like garbage— but early Donovan pretty much IS that cliche, at least to Tyler. He’s unpleasantly domineering to Tyler from the start and, elitist too— he looks down on him for just being “a bartender” and actively undermines him at work. He admits to himself that he “needled Tyler, just because he could” and that’s not hot, that’s bullying. However, when he and Tyler actually start to act on their chemistry, and he gets a chance to be Tyler’s Dom, even informally, the gentler, better side of him comes out. I ended up liking later-book Donovan just fine, but I never really warmed to him like I did to Tyler.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Tyler won me over wholeheartedly, Donovan turned out to be ok in the end, and there’s a robust and interesting cast of supporting characters, from Donovan’s grandmother to Tyler’s military found-family. Well worth a read.

*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Certain elements of this book echo the first in this series in that it covers one character who introduces the other to kink, and they accidentally fall in love along the way. However, it also contains significant differences—an enemies-to-lovers story that features half of the pair coming to terms with a greater understanding of his own sexual orientation.

Sparks have always flown between Tyler and Donovan at the restaurant where they work, but it’s not until they have to work even closer together that they realize the sparks might be foreplay rather than actual dislike. The spicy bits of this novel are always hot, but it’s the quiet moments between the characters where this book shines. Tyler experiences a certain amount of angst about what he shares with Donovan, but it is all based on his care for the important friendships in his life rather than any self-loathing. For his part, Donovan knows exactly what he’s getting into with Tyler and has to weigh how he feels now against the potential for future pain.

The secondary conflict in this story involving a close friend of Tyler’s from their time in the military is unfortunately quite accurate in terms of how hard it is for service members to get timely care. The silver lining to this book’s dark moment is that it helps Tyler come to terms with his connection to Donovan, and I loved the unique twist Vaughn puts on how Tyler understands his half of the D/s dynamic.

Vaughn sets up the next book in this series by creating a delicately balanced secondary character who is appropriately annoying to the book characters while also sympathetic for the book reader. I look forward to the next installment of this series to find out what happens for that character now that I’m quite sure about Tyler and Donovan’s happily ever after.

Made to Order by Brigham Young is about 2 men who work together at the Hawk Point Tavern. Donovan is the head chef at the restaurant part of the tavern and Tyler is the manager of the bar there. Donovan had a messy breakup that caused him to move to Pendleton and he’s into BDSM but because of the smaller town and his working hours he is lonely as he can’t find a lot of people to play with. Tyler is a retired veteran who loves his job but he’s restless and knows something is missing from his life. He works long hours so it isn’t easy for him to date. He also has some friends he served with that are like brothers to him and one of them is struggling. All of this is weighing heavily on him. At the beginning of the story these two men hate each other because they feel like they both should be in control. One night this boils over and they find each other at Donovan’s where he uses BDSM with Tyler. This quiets Tyler’s mind and he starts to think that this might be what is missing. However he thought he was straight so he has to work through this and also realize that he might be submissive. At first they use each other just for a release but as the story continues they both realize they want more. They go through a lot together until they are able to resolve their issues and form a satisfying relationship. This has been my favorite book in this series so far. Ms. Vaughn brought great depth to the characters so I felt that I knew them and what was motivating them. I especially liked that she took her time with Tyler as he struggled with learning he might not be straight, how he liked BDSM, and how he reacted to Donovan being in control. There was also the side story of Tyler’s friend that brought some angst and showed how important his friends were to him. The people who worked at the bar and were friends to both of them also added to the story as did Donovan’s ex showing up. I also learned more about other aspects of BDSM and how people use and enjoy them. If you like reading books that include BDSM then you will enjoy this book. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to more books by this author.

"A demanding chef and a straight former soldier: Taking orders has never been so hot!"- from the blurb

Made to Order is the third installment in the Naughty in Pendleton series and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Ms. Vaughn always brings us stories of hot men and she did not disappoint with this one. It was definitely hot. The kink scenes were explicitly written and developed, so anyone who hasn't read BDSM would understand the lingo. The characters were well defined and developed and you could really feel the emotions for both Donovan and Tyler. The back story of his time in the military and the relationships he built made the story have more depth, which is really important in any story.

Donovan is the head chef and half-owner of a well-known restaurant in Pendleton while Tyler is the bar manager. Donovan has been in the BDSM community for years and Tyler is just now finding who he truly is. Donovan and Tyler hate each other at first, but when Tyler is in charge of the restaurant while the owner is on vacation, things start to change. Donovan shows Tyler what he's been missing and although at first, he is defiant toward Donovan, the more time they spend together the more the passion and fire grow. Will the man from Donovan's past destroy that or have Donovan and Tyler found the one they're meant to be with?

If you are a reader of BDSM and want a story with some heat, then this is the story for you. I would highly recommend this story to anyone no matter if you like the kink or not. These men are on the Hot Tamale train!!!!!

I received this ARC for my honest review from the author.

I was so excited to read this book, and it did not disappoint! Once I read the blurb, I had to pick it up, and I did not want to put it down. This book is enemies to lovers, and I was concerned at first because it did have the BDSM aspect to the book, so I was not sure where we were gonna go. But we went down lovely enemies, let's become dom/sub with benefits, growing feelings for each other, and then sweet/tender love. Donavan and Tyler had such great banter that was outside and inside the bedroom, but I loved how even though they did not like each other, they did not judge each other or try to make it something they were not. Reading Tyler become a submissive but also Donavan's submissive was special because it was an honest journey for him. He struggled with that part of himself, but he grew so much, and seeing him realize he needed a Dom/Donavan was special. I felt that the pacing and how they became partners were great, and I learned some new things within the book about the BDSM community, so that was fun as well. Their relationship was just beautiful to me, and at the end, when Tyler was so happy to wear a collar, I just felt was great compared to where he was at the beginning of the book then overcoming all his struggles and accepting himself was once again so great to read. The side story was heartbreaking, but I love the conclusion that it had. The side characters are great; Jude thought he would get smacked because he was pushing some buttons, so I am interested to see what that is about in the next book. Also, Alexander and Neil make an appearance, and if you read the extra, the author has made another steamy appearance. We love a committed Dom/Sub couple.

I got this recommendation from a friend who got it from a tiktok. The tiktok was specifically for high spice MM recommendations. I didn't realize going into it that it was a series so I guess I'll be reading these a bit out of order.

So to start off, I will say that the 3/6 spice rating was correct. There was a lot of sex scenes in this book. Like it's not entirely sex and no plot at all but the plot is just an afterthought. Things just work out for the characters. You're here to read the characters get it on. With that being said, there's going to be very little plot discussion in this review.

There's a few triggers in this book including military ment, death ment, grief, alcohol, substance abuse, and the tiniest bit of homophobia.

The chemistry between the characters was pretty good. It starts off a bit enemies to lovers but its a quick switch. I have to say though I was not expecting Tyler to just be ok with bottoming? I thought maybe he would need to be eased into that even if he was okay with everything else. Especially since this was his bi awakening.

The Dom/Sub relationship was really nicely portrayed. I loved that Donovan switched on a dime at the end of a play session to focus on aftercare. I had to look up what a humbler is and wow, that is hilarious looking (I'm sorry). Don't look it up unless you're ready for a face full of asshole.

Overall, I'm definitely gonna look into the other books in the series. There are enough sweet moments for me to really enjoy it but it is mostly spice. I can't see myself ever loving these books, but they're a fun time!

Made to Order is an enemies to lovers BDSM romance, leaning towards dominance and submission with impact and breath play.
Donovan is head chef at The Hawke Inn and Tyler is the bar manager. It's no secret that they don't really get on and it's only exacerbated when Tyler is left in charge when the owner goes away. Donovan is a dom and does not do well taking orders from others so it comes as a big surprise to them both when Tyler leans in and accepts Donovan's dominance, especially as he's always identified as straight. Tyler is more than happy to antagonise Donovan, bringing more struggle and pain to their encounters. They start something as a way to let off steam and for Tyler to explore this new side of himself but the longer things go on, emotions inevitably get involved and they both have to decide what they want for their future and if Tyler is open to coming out at all.
I enjoyed reading this story. The author's writing of the scenes between the men is full of physicality but equally balanced with feelings of trust and contentment. Tyler and Donovan clearly do not like each other to begin with and are quite entertaining in their back and forth but the relationship that builds is very interesting as it starts in secret and solely through kink, Donovan happy to share his experience and expertise as a dom to bring Tyler the high and peace that can only really be achieved in those moments together. It did take me longer to connect to Donovan's character, I think Tyler's was more personable with his history and interactions with his best friend Eddie. It didn't detract from the story though and is a great addition to the series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
