I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the author.
Ada Lovelace is the 5th installment in the amazing Inspired Inner Genius series and I was so excited to read this one! I had heard of Ada Lovelace but wasn't overly familiar with her history so this book taught me alot as an adult too. Ada was the first female coder in history dating back to 100 years before the first actual computer was invented. Ada was way ahead of her time in regards to this but received both praise and recognition for her work. I do wonder if she hadn't died at 37 years of age, how much more she would have achieved and how much more this would have impacted the world today. This book is a fantastic biography for children and is sure to be a hit! The illustrations are beautiful and very detailed. I live this series so much and can't wait to find out who book 6 will be about!
Another wonderful tale being told by Inspired Inner Genius!
This time around, we are learning all about Ada Lovelace. This woman was a coder, and the first woman recorded to be one! She has an incredible story that can empower many young children. She's a legend and such a strong figure to learn about.
My positives: 1. Excellent, engaging designs with bright colours 2. Educational facts in easy to learn formats 3. Short, sweet and simple. This book isn't hard to read and will allow younger readers to gain reading comprehensions skills 4. Glossary and Muse Museum to help you learn even more!
Overall, another great read in this educational series!
Four out of five stars.
Thank you to Inspired Inner Genius for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
I got this book for my niece, but I found it very informative for myself. Although I had heard of Ada Lovelace, there were certain things about her that I did not know about. Like her father being Lord Bryon. Her story is very Inspiring and she showed that women can be proficient in technology and can contribute to technical advances. The illustrations are done very well and it will definitely appeal the kids so that they can learn with enjoyment.
Another great book By inspired inner genius. I highly recommend reading their series of books.
Every book I have read is of course inspiring but I have also learned a lot about the genius’s that they write about. They are written for children that either you could read with them or older children can read by themselves. Of course I will be sitting down and reading Ada Lovelace with the kids and as an adult I have thoroughly enjoyed them also.
Now about “Ada” Augusta Ada Bryon was born in 1815 in England. Her father died when she was only eight years old, however she never had a chance to meet him he left the family before she was born. He was a famous poet name Lord Byron. Ada’s mother Lady Byron, wanted Ada to outshine her dad so she made sure that Ada grew up learning math science and other studies.
At 17 Ada met a much older inventor named Charles Babbage he became impressed with Ada creative ideas and they soon became close friends.
Babbage designed a machine called The Analytical Engine which today is now considered the first computer ever imagined. However it seemed Charles Babbage was way ahead of his time people did not fully understand what the machine could do.
Nine years later Ada translated a paper for Babbage that explained what the Analytical Engine was capable of. She added her own notes describing how numbers could be used to tell the machine what to do.
Scientist now believe Ada imagined the first computer programming language over 100 years before anyone else
Ada was 37 when she died, but her thoughts live on. She has a holiday and a computer language named after her. Her programming theories came century’s before the first computer was ever built
She is now known as the “Enchantress of Numbers”.
This Women was a Genius.
I received this book from inspired Inner Books for a honest review.
Another fab mini-bio added to this growing collection, to educate little minds!
The 5th instalment in the Inspired Inner Genius series and it’s none other than the Enchantress of Numbers herself, Ada Lovelace!
Ada was a very clever lady, who was able to think outside the box and was the first EVER computer programmer, a 100 years before it’s time! Her extraordinary and revolutionary achievements in maths and science are celebrated today. Ada has a computing language named after her and a holiday to celebrate her achievements!
Children can travel back in time through the pages and discover facts about Adas life and how she came to be the remarkable woman we know and remember today. It is decorated with fabulous illustrations which perfectly compliment her life-story, including her family-life and work-life.
One of the things I love the most about Adas story is how her mother is featured in it. Her mother recognised how Ada was meant for amazing things, and was determined to let nothing get in Adas way! She ensured Ada was bright, focussed and educated, and had the best of what she could offer her. All without the help of Adas father who moved to a different country, before Ada was born.
The book finishes with a timeline, that includes photos of Ada and more information on her life’s works, as well as a glossary to help young readers understand some of the more complex wording and the Muse Museum, which showcases the geniuses already featured in the series and the ones to come!
I can’t wait to see which genius is next to be featured in the Inspired Inner Genius series. I know these books are aimed at children, but as an adult, I am finding I am learning new information too!
As a grandmother I have been loving these books for my grandson who is nine years old. He has enjoyed them all. He reads them alone by himself and also likes his parents to read them to him before bed.
This is the latest installment in the series. My grandson’s favorite part was learning about the analytical engine!!
I am very pleased that the inner genius crew have presented both men and women in their series. My grandson also loved learning about Amelia Earhart too.
My daughter gave me her feedback on the book as well! “I thought it was cool to hear how she was one of the first, and a woman, to begin thinking in terms of computer programming! I loved that she was known as the enchantress of numbers. This was a very empowering story about women in math and science!”
She has been enjoying these books along with my grandson!
I think it’s wonderful to be able to stimulate imaginations, to learn about men and women who have stepped out of the boundaries of their times.
In this case I thought it was so good that Ada Lovelace’s mother encouraged her in her natural abilities of science and math so that she could do great things during a time when it wasn’t “fashionable” for women to get educated.
This book gets five stars from my grandson, his grandma (me!) and his parents! Can’t wait to see what the next reveal is in the series!!
✨ Thank you @inspiredinnergenius for my complimentary copy of Ada Lovelace✨
📖 Inspired Inner Genius has a mission to empower and encourage today's youth. They are succeeding!
📖 Going into this book everyone was clueless. None of us has ever heard of Ada Lovelace, so it was great learning right beside my children.
📖Children's Feedback 📖
✨Child, age 9- I really liked learning about a new person. I love computers and it's crazy to think that she's the first computer programmer.
✨Child, age 10- Wow, she was a genius! I love how the book described her and the illustrations helped me follow her story.
📖Ada Lovelace was born way before her time. She had ideas about developing, what we now know as computer programming before computers were invented. Ada is a fantastic example of how women can be both brilliant while raising a family. I was saddened to learn of her untimely death, there was so much more she could have contributed to the field of computer science.
Inspired Inner Genius has created this brilliant series of books to introduce historical figures to young readers. This is the first book in the series where I didn't know who the historical figure was (Appalling, I know!), so I found this one particularly interesting. This is another inspirational story, especially for women as Ada wanted to break from the boundaries of her time and be more than just somebody's wife.
Ok, so...I think I have learnt more in the last few months reading the Inspired Inner Genius books that I ever did in school!! I am not big on education but these people are such an inspiration and a huge part of history, I personally feel school should have these books available for any students to read!
Ada Lovelace, I am sorry to say I had no idea who this Genius was until I got my hands on this book.
This book allows you to travel back in time and see how far we have come in terms of technology and programming. Each illustration brings the book to life, seeing how big machines were back then compared to the devices we have now that can fit in the palm of our hands, would we have these sort of programmes and features if it wasn't for Ada?
Inspired Inner Genius is taking us back in time in the past way possible, these books are so interactive with a glossary at the back to help the children develop their language as well as learn about history.
You might be asking “Melissa, who is Ada Lovelace, anyway?” To which I’d reply, “sorry, you’re going to have to read the book.”
Just kidding! She is a woman who imagined computer processors and binary-type code at least 100 years before computers. She is the daughter of poet Lord Byron, but it’s thanks to her mother Lady Byron that she was raised to be smart and independent.
Inspired Inner Genius has a selection of these educational and beautifully illustrated children’s books featuring inspiring figures such as Albert Einstein and Amelia Earhart, with promise of more on the way!

The Ada Lovelace book is my absolute favorite so far in the Inspired Inner Genius collection.
As always the illustrations were just wonderful! But what set this book apart for me was the emphasis on how women back in the 1800s were never expected to be educated; what was expected of her, finding a husband, having children, learning proper etiquette, was not what she decided for herself despite the society’s expectations. Her mother was a single independent strong woman that guided Ada. It is so important for children to know that they overcome any obstacles and they can achieve anything they want, regardless of where they come from and what society expects of them.
Becoming the first computer programmer when computers weren’t even in existence is absolutely amazing.
As always, the book allowed for lots of questions from my four year old and having discussions with him is my absolute favorite.
Since the addition of the glossary, which is just brilliant, I realized that by defining certain words for him while we read he took that a step further and now asks more often what things mean in our day to day interactions, such as other stories, cartoons, or just people talking around us.
I am so thankful to Inspired Inner Genius! I cannot wait for the next one!
💻Thank you Inspired Inner Genius for providing me a copy of Ada Lovelace to read and review. Here is my honest review.
💻It was refreshing to see this book about an intelligent woman who was so advanced for her time. I had heard the name Ada Lovelace before, but can’t say as I knew much about her. Although this is a children’s book, I learned quite a bit about her. She was an amazing woman.
💻I am quite picky about illustrations in children’s books. I certainly enjoyed these ones. Plus, they are an excellent representation of the text, as they should be. I like how they add a little extra to the illustrations, like some computers floating in the scene. I like how the added details tie everything together.
💻I appreciate the small glossary because children need to learn how to use them, and they might as well start young. The muse museum is another fun touch. Framed pictures of all of the books’ historical geniuses are included. As more books are introduced, more pictures are added.
I have enjoyed this series of junior biographies, with its pioneers, STEM experts and inventors. There is nothing wrong with this entrant to it, either, on the ground-breaking female scientist and thinker, Ada Lovelace – it's just this is by no means the first book of this format and for this age range I've seen in the past few years. I'd never put a school librarian off building a collection from the titles from this publisher, it's just that they're more than likely inundated with possibilities of having this subject on their shelves already. There's nothing wrong here – her life story presented clearly, and dramatic and dynamic art to enliven the ever-so-slightly ploddy subject of early programming – but there's very little that brings anything new to the table. In that regard it fits the series expertly.
I was gifted an ebook of this, in exchange for an honest review/feedback (following my previous review asking for the Ada Lovelace one with me doing Computing at university!) Inspired Inner Genius are a new publishing house that believe children are geniuses. I don’t have any children (yet), but I was happy to read and review this for them. I really liked this one! I mean it’s the history of how my degree started!! Computers are everywhere aren’t they? The illustrations are amazing! If you want a nice quick way to share history to your children, then this is the way. I’m hopefully going on to do a PGCE after my undergrad, and I think this will help amazingly! Already thinking of lesson plans I can base this off.
With gorgeous illustrations and short, snappy pages of text, this whole collection is the perfect introduction to some of history's greatest minds. An absolute must-have for any child's bookcase (and teens too). The text is quite advanced for much younger audiences to read themselves, but with a little help, they will have no problem. The glossary is a great way for kids to learn new words too.
Ada Lovelace was an amazing woman, but she rarely gets the attention she deserves (at least, she certainly didn't when I was younger). I think the Inspired Inner Genius team has done a marvellous job condensing her life and achievements into just a few short pages. Hopefully, it will encourage young readers to go off and learn more about her!
Ada Lovelace might not be known to everyone, but she was considered the first computer programmer 100 years before the first computer was built. She was the daughter of the poet Lord Byron, but was raised by her single mother who made sure Ada was educated in math and science. In the 19th century it was not common for women to work in these fields, but she excelled in them and worked on what is presumed to be the first computer. Ada is a great role model for children because she proves that if you're capable of doing something you should regardless of your gender. I really loved the "Enchantress of Numbers'" story especially for young girls.
I loved learning about Ada Lovelace, someone I never ever knew about. Credited as the first inventor of the computer, 100 years before the actual first computer was created, is quite a feat! I wonder, if she had lived longer, if she would have been able to see how much of a difference she truly made. What a great, inspirational read for young girls to have. Be like Ada!
Thank you to Zach for providing me with a free digital copy!
Ada Lovelace: by Inspired Inner Genius– This is on kindle unlimited! I love the picture book biographies especially about very cool ladies! Happy Reading!
Ada Lovelace was a great book to learn what she did. I had never heard of her and this book helps to explain her successes on a level and that anyone can understand. A great book for kids.
This was a gifted ebook from the publisher in exchange of a review. Unpaid promotion.
I have to admit I knew nothing about Ada Lovelace prior to reading this and I found her life to be very interesting and inspiring. She clearly had ideas that were ahead of the time period she was born into and I like that her achievements are celebrated as a holiday and can still inspire people today.
I loved learning about her and seeing the lovely illustrations that I have come to expect from these books.
