See Jorge Molist. Nacido en Barcelona, vivió su infancia en barrio del Raval y su adolescencia en el de Gracia.

Es ingeniero industrial por la Universidad Politécnica de Barcelona y Master en empresariales en ESADE. Distintas experiencias laborales durante sus estudios en España y Francia le permitieron conocer mundo y gentes. Terminado el servicio militar como alférez inició su carrera profesional en una de las mayores multinacionales de gran consumo que le llevó a vivir en diversos lugares de España y de los Estados Unidos de América donde dirigió el equipo de California, el mayor mercado estadounidense, con base en la ciudad de Los Ángeles. De vuelta a Europa se establece en Madrid y ocupa posiciones ejecutivas en distintas compañías. Fue responsable del negocio de conocidas multinacionales en varios países europeos y ha presidido las asociaciones empresariales de su sector representándolas frente a poderes públicos y prensa. Actualmente continua en Madrid donde trabaja para una prestigiosa compañía. Tiene dos hijos y una hija.

Su escritura se ha definido como ágil, apasionante y con sentido del humor.

Oh, where to start. I read the entire book because I was on vacation and had read my others. I thought this was perhaps magic realism or modern gothic. Instead it was a poorly written chick lit book. Do men write chick lit? Apparently they do.

The premise is interesting -- a mysterious ring linked to an ancient sect is anonymously sent to a young woman who embarks on a quest to find out why it was given to her. Ok. All sounds ok. That's where the good end -- at the idea. The author wants this to be mystery. In fact, he keeps telling us how mysterious this all is and the last line of each chapter is FULL OF PORTENT. (spooky music here) That, with the flimsy characters, undermined any potential the original idea may have had.

This was barely more than an excuse to write about beautiful rich people who do or don't follow through on their attraction to one another. Oy. Honestly, this woman is so lovely that none of the men can resist her. She's also smart -- working at the most important law firm in the world in NYC even though she's only 27. And she must have money because takes a leave from her job and traipses off to Barcelona without a thought about money. She flirts with handsome men and insults or dismisses ugly ones. We're meant to believe that she's a strong independent woman (who maybe takes risks) but at the same time turns down advances by saying "I couldn't possibly have dinner alone with a man who is not my fiance." Really. Oh, and that she is nursing a love for a boy she kissed once when she was thirteen and hasn't heard from since. She's so sophisticated and sheltered that she goes to a holiday beach party in $200 shoes, is shocked by a girl with rings in her nose, but then strips off her clothes and goes skinny dipping with the group, and later sleeps with her childhood crush even those she's engaged and she believes the crush to be gay. Good grief.

I don't usually give away story details in these reviews but I did here in hopes of offering public service. Save yourself.

What a terrible book. I barely know where to start with this book. The main character was completely devoid of morals, convictions, or many constructive thoughts or actions. A complete waste of space. Don't read this book.

Cristina recibe en su cumpleaños dos anillos: uno de compromiso por su novio y el otro con un rubí antiguo de un anónimo barcelonés. Aunque los acepta, Cristina no sabrá que uno de ellos le llevará por un camino insospechado. Cristina tendrá que viajar hacia la costa mediterránea e indagar en el pasado. En Barcelona se encuentra con Oriol, el amor de su juventud, y con unos amigos irá de lugar a lugar, algunos llenos de peligros, para descubrir el destino del último de los templarios y su gran tesoro.

La historia tiene parte del mundo de los templarios en el pasado y la búsqueda de un tesoro en el presente. Además hay un romance de juventud. Con Molist, el lector será testigo de la época medieval en la Península Ibérica y las guerras entre cristianos y musulmanes. Una trama llena de historia, de intrigas y misterios, de amor y de aventuras.

Los personajes se dividen entre el pasado y la actualidad. Los personajes son muy realistas, bien definidos y descritos. Será fácil identificarse con muchos de ellos, aunque la protagonista tiene sus fallos. La protagonista, Cristina, quien además es la narradora, me ha fallado un poco, es una abogada prestigiosa del siglo XXI y está prometida, pero a veces es demasiado influenciable.

Sobre la ambientación, encontramos escenas en Estados Unidos y otras en Barcelona principalmente, aunque también se centrará en una isla de Alicante. Las descripciones de todos estos lugares está muy bien conseguido, trasladando al lector a estos escenarios.

La narración de Molist es muy buena, pues sabe darte información histórica pero de forma muy amena y sin que te des cuentas, sin agobios y sin un sobreexceso de información. Al mismo tiempo hay vocabulario de la época, lo que da más realismo y demuestra que el autor controla la época.

Entretenida historia sobre templarios que leí en una época en la que decidí concatenar varios libros sobre el mismo tema. Le daría tres estrellas y media, pero como La reina oculta (también de Molist) me gustó mucho... he optado por redondear hacia arriba.

I'd like to title this review 'Dry History and Male Fantasy', because the actual plot can be condensed into about thirty pages, if even that. I think they find the treasure, but there's so much exposition that I might have missed that part in between her agonizing over a kiss when she was thirteen and her current fiance. I ended up skipping about 150 pages because I was so sick of the really shoddy sexual tension and 'the Templars are important!' (No! Really?! In a book that's centered entirely around a relic from the Templars? Who'da thunk!). The clues were transparent, the protagonist's friend seemed to know all the answers already, and 'National Treasure' (both of them) had more realistic and interesting treasure hunt plots. And more realistic characters.

Concerning the Dry History: History is one of my favourite subjects, but Molist's recounting of the Knights Templar ended up being more of a hybrid nightmare from a one night stand between a textbook and Hollywood glamour than historical fiction. A dash of the occult falls flat, and the reincarnation/body of a 700-year-old Templar (nicknamed Barbablanca) was a pointless character who only appeared when lives were in danger. He didn't ride in on a white horse and save the day with the sun streaming behind him. A pity, because that might have improved the story.

As for the Male Fantasy: Um, sorry, but a 27-year-old female lawyer in Manhattan who has the liberties of taking unexpected vacation, knows she'll be able to get a job easily if she has to leave her current job, and manipulates the police by wearing short skirts and low-cut tops? This is all while being perfectly happy with her fiance (with whom she kicked off the relationship by making passionate love to while watching the news on 9/11), yet she must agonize over a kiss she had with her childhood sweetheart fourteen years earlier. Oh, and the crush's mom makes a move on our protagonist, and the constant agonizing over people's sexuality--that would explain why there was no room left for the plot.

While I could see that the intention of the author was maybe to integrate adventure with history with romance, and to convey a deeper meaning regarding life being about the journey not the destination, this story was uneven and shallow. It was translated into English so perhaps something was lost in the translation, as it reads like something a teenage girl would write. Had I not been so stubborn about not quitting a book halfway through, I probably would not have finished this novel.

My god, what a slog to get through this book (took me 4 months), a Spanish take on a pseudo Da Vinci Code-esque "thriller." But the writing (or maybe it was the translation) was just not good. The only reason this book got any stars was because of its setting in Barcelona, a city I can never be mad at. I even considered giving it 2 stars - one for Barcelona and one because an author wrote a book which is usually credit-worthy, but then there's this: "But when I saw him return a few minutes later, too soon for any hanky-panky to have taken place, and carrying a guitar, my heart fluttered with relief. I was so glad that the girl hadn't gotten her way. I was sure the slut would find some horny beast in that dark forest to satisfy her nymphomania" (pp 244-245) and "I thought to myself, Cristina, you're flirting. Be careful, it's early. Don't go too far. But I was already in gear and I didn't feel like putting on the brakes" (p 122) and "I must confess that by the time dessert arrived I was feeling attracted to him...even though I knew I shouldn't be affected by his charms, I couldn't help but be drawn to him" (p 292). This man thinks his female protagonist is a jealous, hypersexual dumbass, and I could hardly stand it. It seemed like every other paragraph she was contradicting herself or being wishy-washy or was in heat.
The whole plot of the story which I can't even begin to explain was difficult to follow and at one point, I found myself thinking, 'Now wait, what is this part about?' and then almost immediately realized that I didn't really care.
I'm sad to say that not even Barcelona could save this story.

Lengvai skaitomas nuotykių romanas. Na dar turėčiau pridurti istorinis, nes visgi nors veiksmas vyksta ir dabartinėje Ispanijoje, bandoma atskleisti senai dingusias tamplierių paslaptis.
Jauna ambicinga ir sėkminga advokatė gavusi dovanų paslaptingą žiedą išsiruošia į savo vaikystės miestą Barseloną, kur jos laukia vaikystės draugai, pirmoji meilė ir daugybė paslapčių.
Knyga “susiskaitė” labai smagiai. Autorius rašo puikiai ir tikrai buvo malonu skaityti. Kas liečia pačią istoriją, tai labai nenustebino. Daug dalykų buvo galima nuspėti, nors neteigiu, jog viską, nes buvo vietų kurios pakrypo nenumatyta linkme
Taip pat kas užkliuvo – pagrindiniai veikėjai neįtikino. Pasirodė tokie truputėlį paviršutiniški, labiau norėjosi išgrynintų personažų ar bent kelių. Dabar toks jausmas, jog autorius didžiausią dėmesį skyrė istorinių faktų pateikimui ir siužeto vingių maskavimui, o ne charakteriams. Todėl knyga pasirodė ne iki galo “išdirbta”.
Apibendrinant, man visai patiko. Toks lengvas skaitinys. O tokių kartais taip pat reikia

This book was very difficult to the read. The author very much wanted you to know how much he knew about the Knights Templar - it was too much detail that never gave anything more to the story. The book picked up in the last 100 pages but became an absolutely ridiculous romance. The sexual orientation of the characters was a huge part of this book that read almost homophobic. Would not recommend.

El peor libro que he leído en mucho tiempo. El autor quiso hacer un guiso con historia, aventura y romance -una especie de Indiana Jones- pero se le fue la mano con el azúcar y terminó siendo chick lit, y bastante mala.

Cristina es una joven, guapa y exitosa abogada de Nueva York con una vida perfecta, una familia acomodada y un prometido de revista. Un regalo inesperado hace que vuelva a su Barcelona natal donde se encuentra con su amor de la adolescencia, pasando 3/4 partes del libro en una serie de situaciones de tensión sexual tratando de intimar con él y averiguar si es gay o no.

Trama aburrida, predecible y supuestamente con un profundo mensaje sobre vivir el momento y disfrutar del camino pero con menos profundidad que una piscina de plástico. El libro parece escrito por un adolescente y terminas un poco harto de besos con sabor a mar, carpe diem y el Viaje a Ítaca.

Le pongo dos estrellas en lugar de una porque, pese a todo, al menos el libro se lee rápido y las partes históricas están bien documentadas.

Not everyone can be Dan Brown and not everyone can turn a good idea into an interesting story: this book is the proof, despite the prize it was awarded.
It failed to captivate me from the first chapters, when there was supposed to be enough suspense to take you through its 400-something pages (in the Spanish version that I read), but the narration was so flat, that it was downright boring. Maybe because of the annoying-sounding Cristina (the main character nonetheless), maybe because it seemed like a children's book --turned into an adult story only because sex was involved.
Anyway, don't waste your time over it. If you want to read about the Templar knights, there are tons of other books which, I am absolutely certain, will be far more interesting.

I think a fourteen year old might have written this book better than the author. The only reason I know there were mysterious event was because the author kept telling me there were. Awful character development, ridiculous dialogue. Skipped around without well planned connections. This is a definite "don't waste your time" book. Could barely get though the first 40 pages...I should have paid attention to all those reviews but the premise sounded so engaging!

L'écriture est pauvre, l'histoire est affligeante, l'intrigue est navrante...
Et mention spéciale pour l'apologie du viol et les clichés rétrogrades et malsains sur l'homosexualité.
Bref, il est probable que je brûle cette horreur

Mi valoración personal:
Jorge Molist mostró una temprana vocación por la escritura, después de una larga y destacada trayectoria profesional en grandes corporaciones, publicó en el año 2000 Los muros de Jericó, y Presagio en 2003. Le siguieron esta novela, El Anillo (2004), editada en más de veinte idiomas, y La reina oculta (2007), que obtuvo el Premio de Novela Histórica Alfonso X el Sabio. En 2011 publicó Prométeme que serás libre, y Tiempo de cenizas en 2013. Canción de sangre y oro fue merecedora del Premio de Novela Fernando Lara 2018. Ahora en 2021 acaba de publicar La reina sola.        
He leído todos los libros de Jorge Molist y debo decir que, para mí, este ha sido de los más flojos que tiene. La carga histórica del libro queda relegada a un segundo plano por esos personajes que bajo mi opinión tiene poca fuerza y resultan incluso tediosos como Cristina.     
Una trama que comienza con un cumpleaños/ fiesta de pedida de mano en Nueva York y con la extraña presencia de un motorista que da a Cristina un paquete con un anillo dentro. El anillo que le ha llegado misteriosamente produce en ella un cambio radical y la hace olvidar toda su vida para entregarse en cuerpo y alma a descubrir” la verdad”. Una trama floja que tiene ingredientes que le dan ese punto de aventura histórica pero que no logró terminarme de convencer.
Uno de los puntos positivos que tiene esta novela es la ambientación y la documentación sobre los templarios, 
Como ya he dicho anteriormente no he logrado conectar con Cristina lo que ha hecho que mi retención hacía la novela fuera disminuyendo. Incluso los pensamientos plasmados por Molist me parecieron en ocasiones muy retrógrados.

En conclusión, un libro que pasa sin pena ni gloria y que recomiendo para pasar un par de días entretenidos. Os recuerdo que esta solo es mi opinión y que Jorge Molist es un gran autor que he disfrutado muchísimo con otras obras suyas como La reina sola.

Do kupienia tej książki skusiła mnie, jak to już często bywa, notka z okładki, dumnie głosząca, że to opowieść o hermetycznej sekcie, enigmatycznym spadku i rozszyfrowywaniu znaków ukrytych w gotyckich obrazach, a takie tematy to ja lubię. Zapowiadało się bardzo ciekawie, niestety, na zapowiedziach z okładki się skończyło. W czasie czytania czegoś ciągle brakowało, napięcia, zagadek, hermetycznej sekty, gotyckich obrazów, o znakach w nich ukrytych nawet nie wspominam. Tylko rozterek uczuciowych głównej bohaterki było aż nadto :)

Był już jeden taki pierścień, co namieszał trochę we wszechświecie, ale mały irytujący Hobbit razem z ekipą przyjaciół, zrobił z nim porządek. Główna bohaterka "Pierścienia", Cristina, jednak nie ma ani owłosionych stóp, ani takich znajomych, więc z tytułowym elementem biżuterii nie poszło jej tak łatwo. Za to irytujące usposobienie ma podobne jak Frodo, zawsze coś.

Poleciłabym "Pierścień" jedynie człowiekowi, który w promieniu 100m nie znajdzie ciekawszej książki, a do biblioteki/księgarni jest daleko i do tego leje taki deszcz, że nie chce się nosa na zewnątrz wystawić.

Cuando me quedaba poco para finalizar su lectura sabía que ya me ha gustado, sólo quedándome su conclusión para desvelar los misterios que encierran sus páginas.
Del argumento debo decir que la búsqueda de un misterioso tesoro vincula un pasado lejos de una ciudad donde nació su protagonista, Barcelona, viéndose obligada Cristina a regresar a la misma desde la ciudad de Nueva York donde residía en la actualdiad.
El choque emocional con el pasado, sus recuerdos, los recuerdos y secretos que desempolvará la búsqueda en la que se ve inmersa ella y sus amigos de infancia, la pondrá en una difícil tesitura, pues cuestionará muchas cosas de su situación actual y descubrirá muchos secretos que habían permanecido ocultos.
El mundo de los templarios es el trasfondo, el tráfico de las obras de arte el eje central de la trama y el regreso al pasado el viaje físico y emocional al que se verán sometidos sus protagonistas.
Agil lectura y muy recomendable.
Esta fue mi primera incursión en Jorge Molist no saliendo nada defraudado, sino con ganas de seguir leyendo más obras suyas. Por supuesto que os la recomiendo.

De ring zou een spannend en meeslepend verhaal moeten zijn over de erfenis van de laatste tempelier. Dit verhaal gaat over advocate Christina die terugkeert naar het Barcelona van haar jeugd en samen met jeugdvrienden Luis en Oriol om op zoek te gaan naar de schat die de Tempeliers hebben nagelaten.

Maar helaas, spannend? Nee niet echt. Meeslepend? Nee, eerder voorspelbaar op sommige punten. De Ring lijkt meer een Chicklit over de driehoeksrelatie tussen Christina, Oriol en haar verloofde die ze in New York heeft achtergelaten. Wel zit het boek vol met intriges, van de eerder genoemde relatie tot de geschiedenis van de Tempeliers. Dus als je daar van houdt, voor mij was het teveel informatie tegelijkertijd en soms te ver gezocht, dan is dit boek een aanrader. Doe mij maar een andere thriller.

Es la primera vez que leo a Molist y me ha gustado y no me ha gustado al mismo tiempo.

Me ha encantado la ambientación del libro con el tema templario y los puntos de vista del pasado eran muy chulos. Últimamente estoy leyendo muchos libros sobre este estilo y por eso tenia ganas de leerlo.

Por otro lado hay temas que el autor trata de manera un poco retrograda. Lo he achacado a que el libro ya tiene 20 años, aunque creo que estan un poco mal tratados.

Otra de las cosas que no me han gustado a sido la protagonista. Su forma de relacionarse con los hombres, un poco deficiente.

Al final he tenido un poco de "deja vu" y me hubiese gustado que se detuviera más en esa última parte.

Por lo demás, me ha gustado y entretenido, he aprendido mas sobre lo templarios y me ha parecido interesante en todo momento.

I picked this book up from the library after reading its description which sounded interesting. Taking place in New York and also Barcelona, Spain, it features lawyer Cristina Wilson who, on her twenty-seventh birthday, came in possession of two rings – an engagement diamond from her boyfriend and an inherited ruby ring with a cross that hides a secret from her past and leads her on a journey of self-discovery, danger, and love. Unfortunately, the book lagged in the middle and, in my opinion, ran too long. The ending also leaved something to be desired. However, it was an interesting premise, and the characters were depicted well. Recommended for those who like religious history and reading books with foreign settings.

The story held promise of adventure. While it didn't fall completely flat because there were times of intrigue; I found the search to drag on. By the time it ended the whole thing was a bore. The fact that one character's sexual preference was questioned multiple times was overkill. Just ask and get it over with! Many of the characters could have been more deeply developed and some could've been left out all together. Some reviews considered this as chick lit but while I can see that point of view I still felt it was more than that in other ways. Overall still a good read and interesting historical aspects if you know a little or a lot about the Templars.

najgora knjiga koju sam pročitala u životu. iz nekog razloga bleji kod mojih roditelja na polici i pošto nisam imala šta pametnije da radim pre neke tri godine uzela sam da čitam to (plus ima 400 strana zaista moderna inkvizicija). radnja možda zazvuči interesantno kao istorijska fikcija ali NE uopšte nije u tome stvar i sve čega se sada sećam (hvala bogu) je da je prevarila verenika sa likom koga je do tada smatrala kao porodicom ali se ipak ložila na njega, da je njen ujak (?) gej i da na kraju ona ode u Barselonu a ovaj njen pseudo brat/ljubavnik dođe u Njujork i oni se mimoiđu. blago slepima i nepismenima kada je u pitanju ova knjiga zaista.

Una novela con la cual no pude enganchar del todo, mezcla de novela histórica, policial, misterio... quiso ser todo pero al final se me quedó con gusto a poco. Personajes indefinidos, de sexualidad dispersa (cosa que no agrega valor al conflicto del libro), siguen pistas no conectadas, deducciones muy rebuscadas y lo que menos me gustó es que cada vez que los personajes están en problemas serios aparece de la nada una salvador misterios y sin aviso.
De lo poco que me gusto fueron sus descripciones históricas y relato templario que aporta algo poco a lo que ya sabemos de la orden.

Dažniausiai siužetas kartojasi - šių dienų veikėjas gauna ar suranda istorinę, su šeimos istorija susijusia relikviją, kurioje užkoduota mįslė ir, aukodamas savo įprastinį gyvenimą, ją išsprendžia, katu surasdamas tikrąją meilę. Ne išimtis yra ir ši knyga. Gal ją man gelbėjo skaitymo metu praleidžiamas atostogos Barselonoje, kur vyksta ir knygos veiksmas

I can understand all the "bads" reviews about this book from foreigners people but, for my a spanish person, who I lived in most of the cities where the story happens is nice to read it, is true the romantic part, in a historic book is,,,,, but for my is a nice book, more because the history finish in the island where all my family born
