After six months out of work after the death of his wife, Jack Slater is back and newly promoted to the role of detective. His first case, The Dollmaker, a serial killer hunting the streets of Auckland killing his victims and removing parts from their bodies. Can Jack track him down before he strikes again?
Jack has worked in the morgue but now became a detective. Him and his wife were in an accident and she had died in it. Months after he goes back to work. But he still had a hard time adjusting without his wife Sarah. He kept thinking he sees her and other times he sees dead people in the morgue sit up. He was afraid to tell anyone. His best friend whom he worked with was Ashley. They were trying to solve the case of the Doll Maker murders, whom had a routine of what he did to his victims. Jack thought he was going crazy with things happening to him. Other co-workers were getting suspicious. I sorta guess who it was but then again it was a total shock to me who the killer really was. How could they have done all that and never got any clues to who it was.
Jack Slater is a new detective and returns to work after his wife's death 6 month ago. He is given a huge case to catch a serial killer "The Dollmaker". The story for me was a bit slow and this is why it was not 5 stars. I enjoyed the story and the ending being whether "The Dollmaker" gets caught or not. For me, getting there took a little too long, the author spent time telling about what happened to the wife and giving background into the wife's life. It turned out to be important in the end but when I was reading it, I wondered why it was necessary. Not sure if this could've been added into the book in a different way or not. So, it was a bit confusing and slow in that part for me. But over all the book was interesting.
Flouride is not used to embalm bodies; Formaldehyde is. And believe it or not, most Americans use proper grammar because we have a good education. I'm from Texas but I never use (ain't). I LOVE to read & do so daily. I enjoy reading books by authors with great ideas & creativity. You are an excellent writer. May I suggest you use spell & grammar check regularly & again at the conclusion? If you would like for me to proof read your work, I would be happy to, for a nominal fee. I wish I had the creativity you do. Congratulations on being such a creative writer. (I've read several of your books.) Kindest regards, Ashley D.
Good plot, twists and turns that will keep you guessing till the very end. IF you can get past all the grammatical errors you can have a good read. I found them disruptive and difficult to get past. This author has great storytelling abilities, but seriously needs to work on continuity and clarification.
While I was able to push my feelings towards the lack of proofreading aside, it is clear the plot has promise and an amazing twist I did not see coming. However, it is clear this book needs to be re-edited to fix many grammatical and syntax errors.
I almost gave up on this book because there were so many grammarical errors & sentences that just didn't make sense but the story picked up so I continued. If you push past the grammar, the story itself is actually pretty good, halfway I was convinced I knew how the book was gonna end but it took me through a loop with a big plot twist I didnt expect but enjoyed.
This was a really disappointing read. The story was great but it was clearly not proofread before being published. The amount of errors in this book is shocking! There was many times where I almost have up, but it was a good story and I wanted to see it to the end but Wow! What a mess!!!!! I'm scared of book 2.
The plot was captivating and interesting enough to keep me reading. However, the grammar, spelling, and sentence structure was atrocious. This book definitely needed a proof reader.
The worst written book I have ever read. I couldn’t even finish it, it was painful to read. Full of mistakes, heavy repetition and overly descriptive. Clearly has never been proof-read. It was AWFUL. I don’t even know how the book ends because i nearly clawed my eyes out. Might read it one day but right now it’s unbearable. 2/10
