On the eve of India's Independence, Maharaja Uday Singh, the King of Ranakpour, urges his children to find their place in the new India as their 800-year rule on the princely state comes to an end. Stripped of his royal status, Uday Singh's middle son, Abhimanyu, lands in Bombay to follow his passion - cricket.
While the young prince tries to adapt to life in the metropolis as a commoner, he meets Meera Apte, a struggling, working class singer with an angelic voice, and they bond over their common interest: Indian classical music.
Soon, Abhimanyu finds himself torn between familial duties and his growing passion for Meera.
Finally, the lovers make a choice that will change their destinies forever.
This book is set during the time when our country gained independence. When the King of Ronaukpur is stripped of their royal status after India’s independence, his son and our protagonist Abhimanyu goes to Bombay to purse his passion of cricket. There he meets Meera whose voice enchants him. But she is a commoner and he is a royal. They soon fall for one another but it's not easy when one is a royal and the other is not. Now Abhimanyu has to choose between his familial duties and the love of his life. I enjoyed my time reading this for the most part. The writing was beautiful and the cover is exquisite! It wasn’t as slow paced as I was expecting it to be. This story also let us have a glimpse about our country's history during the time of independence. Though it was an engaging read, there are few things that didn’t work for me. First, the love story felt very instalovey, it was instantaneous and rushed. Second, there were lot of political discussions and descriptions about cricket and singing. This made the love story feel like it was at the backdrop of the book rather than being at the forefront. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book very much and I would definitely recommend it. And will be waiting for the movie adaptation!
Note: I received this book from author, in exchange for an honest review.
The Prince And The Nightingale was immersive historical romance that revolved around the story of Abhimanyu, Prince of Ranakopour, and Meera, the commoner and amazing singer of Mumbai.
The story was about independent India, political impact on royal family, finding place in world, adapting life without privilege, ambitions, family duty, struggle, friendship, heartbreak, and love.
Writing was easy to follow, enchanting, beautiful, and steady paced.
Characters were realistic and relatable. I loved both main characters. They both were strong and yet vulnerable and I loved how they both brought out best in each other.
The best part of the book was small stories within story. I enjoyed how author interwoven historical aspect, events happened from 1947 to 1992,with Abhimanyu and Meera’ story.
Romance was touching and tragic. I enjoy royalty falling for commoner trope.
Twist and turns were great. Author managed to surprise me few times.
Overall, it was beautiful, touching and realistic historical romance that had much more than just romance and had great historical aspects.
If you love to read books set in India with culture, history and sport, great character development and romance, I highly recommend this book.

🍁The Prince and the Nightingale is a story set in the time period of India’s Independence. It talks about the after math and the effect of Independence on the Royal families, their titles and power and the change in politics in India. It is a story of struggles of people trying to get back to their life after the change in Indian system and trying to find their new place.
🍁The book is about two people Abhimanyu, the middle son of Maharaja Uday Singh, the King of Ranakpour and a commoner, Meera. Post-Independence, Abhimanyu is happy to finally get some freedom and is happy to be able to go after his passion for cricket with a clear vision in his mind. On the other hand, Meera has her own dreams and principles. Both have lived totally different lives from each other, yet they are still connected to each other by Music.
🍁It is a well written book with the perfect blend of love, history and politics. It was heart warming to see such beautiful friendships, love, hardships, struggles, emotions and feelings portrayed through this fast-paced story with such ease. The side characters are also well written and have a stand and thoughts of their own. I liked that they had their own role to play in the story with a voice of their own.
🍁I totally loved the relationship between Abhimanyu and Meera and their struggles and individual battles. Their love is pure, heartwarming, teary and tragic. It is dreamy and yet so realistic at the same time.
🍁While it may be the story of Abhimanyu and Meera and their love, but it is also a story of the people of India and India itself. A story which the India of that time was not ready for, but the India today will accept and understand with an open mind 🙌
I want to thank @harpercollinsin for the review copy.
Though this may seem like another tale of forbidden love between a prince and a commoner, what sets it apart is the blend of real-life history, India's rich culture, the thrill of cricket, and the glamour of Bollywood.
This book took me by surprise. I expected the typical prince-and-commoner love story, but it delivered so much more! The characters are flawed, the circumstances feel realistic, and the ending is imperfectly perfect. Did I mention that I enjoyed Abhishek Bhatt's writing style, too?
Our main characters' journey is one of love, duty, and heartbreak. Both are strong and passionate, and I loved how they brought out the best in each other. Abhimanyu chooses family and duty above all else (which is what a prince in real life would do), and Meera stays strong and pursues her dream. She's young yet I like how sensible she is despite her circumstances. She's strong, protective, and loyal.
Cricket is a huge part of Abhimanyu's story. I'm not a fan of cricket and have limited knowledge of the sport, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. I would advise not to skip those sections entirely because crucial, life-altering scenes unfold during those games!
I found the Bollywood aspect of the story particularly fascinating! It provided a glimpse into how soundtracks are created and the behind-the-scenes of recording songs for films. We get to see Meera's transformation from an Indian classical prodigy to a sought-after playback singer.
The Indian politics and history in the story might not appeal to everyone, but they provide context for the time our characters lived in. It was a period right after India gained independence, formed a new parliamentary government, and stripped the royals of their powers. Elections were held for the first time, yet many people were still illiterate.
This book was an easy read with characters you can easily connect with and a realistic conclusion. I enjoyed its straightforward language and well-balanced pacing. The poetic verses in Hindi/Urdu sprinkled throughout added a delightful touch.
Oh, and there's a twist in the end that I wasn't expecting!
If you're in the mood for a genuine love story featuring flawed yet relatable characters, and if you're interested in exploring India's rich history and culture, this book is worth picking up.
One last thing…for a HarperCollins India book, it was quite surprising to spot errors that made it seem like the proofreader was on a rush!
The Prince and the Nightingale. Author: Abhishek Bhatt Genre : Romance Thank you @harpercollinsin for the media copy.
August 14 , 1947. Ranakpour. The eve of India's Independence. Maharaja Uday Singh declare what has been common knowledge. Ranakpour will be merging with India. Their are mixed reactions, both from the public and the royal family. Abhimanyu , the second son of Uday Singh , decides to leave for Bombay and pursue a career in Cricket , despite his mother , the queen , wanting otherwise. He is an excellent player , but faces many ups and downs trying to settling in Bombay. He meets the nightingale , Meera , the younger sister of his fellow teammate , Kamal Apte. And well ,as it is a romance novel , zero points for guessing they fall in love. As this is a love story that is penned down , of course they faced several obstacles , as you will read in the book .
Despite this being the authors debut book , he has written it really well. From describing pre independence Ranakpor and Mumbai , to the singing style of Meera , it feels that you yourself are present in the book. I am sure that an audiobook version of this book will be magical. If you are regular reader of my posts , then you are aware that im not big on contemporary romances. Though this is not exactly contemporary ,it is close but i still liked it very much. There is the lovey-dovey Edward-Bella stuff in the book that i personally do not enjoy reading , but in limited amounts. I can easily recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read.
If my word is not enough for you , this book is soon going to be adapted into a movie and thats not it. It is endorsed by Mr. Hansal Mehta himself! , the creator of arguably the best Indian Web Series Scam 1992.

The Prince and the Nightingale - Abhishek Bhatt As the story or should I say love story is being uniquely designed in its own way. In the beginning the author has started with the introduction with the family of the king Uday Singh as he arranged the meeting to announce mergers with the union of India as India was about to become a democratic country. Ajay Singh as the eldest and adopted son of Uday Singh used to serve at British Indian Army but now decided to join Indian army as to find their place in the new India as their 600-year rule on the princely states comes to an end. Vihaan Singh the youngest son went to london to lead his own career in his own way. Avantika only daughter of Uday Singh has went to Delhi with her father to helped him in becoming a politician.
Abhimanyu Singh the main character of story and middle son of Uday Singh knew what he wanted from his life and for that he was going to Bombay to follow his passion yes, as he wanted to become a cricketer also it was the time when everything was changing in India the world was about to see the Democratic Country. Abhimanyu meet many people during the tournament also in between the meet Ranjit Singh Zhonqqurt who introduced him with a kamal updates, a common boy was also plays cricket with Ranjit, Kamal Apte's family was struggling with financial crisis, as he has sister who was working at the bank and was the main source of income to the family also the second sister was Meera Apte our main character. She was just like her father a great singer and wanted to become a famous singer in India. Because of Kamal Abhimanyu could met Meera and as he was being the prince, he arranged a stage for her to sing in front of many famous singers and after that Meera and Abhimanyu started meeting often and they stared liking each other very soon. The love between Abhimanyu and Meera beings and the path they had followed was being full of obstacles and difficulties with no clarity about what will happen and would they be together or not. With this readers I guess you will find interest in the book as this book is being the first novel of the author which was very well written and the writing styling was also good. The whole description of every single thing I like personally like also the in between shayari or quote was something I like the most.
Bhatt takes well-loved ingredients—history, royalty, cricket and Bollywood to knit the backdrop of a star-crossed romance between his protagonists, Abhimanyu Singh, the erstwhile prince of state Ranakpour, and a commoner, Meera Apte.
The beginning of the narrative focuses on Abhimanyu Singh, King Uday Singh’s middle son. It’s where we learn about his siblings, their vested interests, fears, woes, and worries as the 800-year rule of their family and ancestors on the princely state comes to an end.
Robbed of their royal status and public dominance, the king urges the younger family members to find their niche in the new India. While Abhimanyu moves to Bombay to make a career in cricket, his siblings take a diverging path. Abhimanyu’s meeting with a struggling singer with a melodious voice, Meera Apte, and their ill-fated romance riddled with misunderstandings, distance, betrayal, and eventual reconciliation with fate and its ways forms the rest of the narrative.
Bhatt captures the nuances of cricket well and deftly highlights Abhimanyu’s central role in elevating cricket to its present status. The journey is believable and chronicled well. Meera’s rise to a playback singer from an Indian classical protegee evokes an old-world charm.
The emotional turbulence, the fluctuating confidence and Abhimanyu’s incredible support and faith in her talent make for an engaging read. The stories of their near-death experiences and personal and professional lives dotted with people with disguised intentions make some of the high points.
The language is unpretentious and well-suited to the era. Every now and then, the backdrop is coloured by historical events, and its long-lasting repercussions are reflected on the protagonists. This lends the book realistic as well as a unique character.
The book is an easy read with engaging character arcs and a satisfying climax. Though the bits about Abhimanyu’s election campaign and political calling seemed a bit dragging, they didn’t mar my reading experience.
Just a perfect book to pick up if you’re in the mood for a dollop of history sweetened by intense passion and sublime, poetic romance.
Title: The prince and the nightingale 💫 Author: @abhishek_author 💫 pages: 260 💫 Format: Paperback 💫 Rating: 🌠🌠🌠🌠4.3/5 📌 The Crux: :🔖 This is an amazing love story that revolves around the last prince of Ranakpour, Abhimanyu Singh and a commoner Meera Apte who had a background of a Devadasi which happened during the Indian Independence. It starts with the eve of independence that begins with Nehru's speech and the scenes of the royal family of Ranakpour and the speech of king Uday Singh. Abhimanyu the last prince of Ranakpour moving to Bombay for his passion for cricket. He was born and brought up with royal restrictions. There he meets Meera, their friendship turns into deep love. Fate made them meet again. what happens to both of them is the remaining story. 💫 My Two Cents : 📍 This is the authors first story but no one can guess that as his narration, language, and overall control in the story is just amazing, He never loses his grip and flow in the writing. The title and the cover page is very attractive which will grab a readers attention. This is not only the love story of two un equals. This is the story of India at the time of Independence where it was struggling with its newfound freedom. Go grab it soon if you love independence period. Recommend this and for all the bookaholics.

He was torn after his father's request to join him in the family affairs. Will Abhimanyu Keep up with the family duty or will go against his father and marry meera?
Read this tragic tale of star crossed love which is inspired by true events.
#myexperience - Set against the backdrop of newly independent India, this is a simple yet heart touching love story. The author has beautifully captured the picture of new independent India. All the while, while reading this I was transported back to 1947. There are beautifully rendered scenes related to royal family, cricket and music during that period....it was as if a movie was being played. Right from the start the book had my attention. The pace is lively, the narration is good. Being the author's first book I must say it's well written. The story will stay with you even after the final page.
The story revolves around Abhimanyu, the prince of Ranakpour and Meera, a commoner and an aspiring singer from Mumbai. The story is set in the backdrop of the events that happened during the independence.
The story talks about India after independence, how it affected the royal families, how the people and royal families adjusted to the changes that happened after independence and also about love, heartbreak, struggles, aspirations etc.
Abhimanyu leaves the royal palace to go to Bombay to find a career in Cricket. He is an excellent player but like any other player he too faces a lot of ups and downs in his life. He meets Meera Apte, sister of his fellow teammate and falls hopelessly in love with her. But not all love stories get a happy ending, right? Their love had to go through a lot of obstacles including family pressure. Will the star-crossed lovers withstand all these obstacles and come together?
I loved the way the author has included the post-independence struggles and events within a romance story. It gave the story a very interesting touch. The writing was beautiful and easy to understand and I finished reading it in one sitting. I loved the character of Meera a lot in this story. This is the author's debut novel and it is soon going to be made a motion picture. I recommend this to everyone who loves historical romance.
Thanks @harpercollinsin for the review copy in exchange for my honest review.
"𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽,𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄".This excerpt from 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙚 will surely give you an idea about the intensity of this novel. The novel takes us long back to 1947 and is a reflection of an era between 1947 to late fifties. With the end of kingship, the prince of Ranakpur is exposed to a situation where he faces many complexities in life. The author beautifully reflects the scenario of those days. The main three issues that touches the plot are the politics, love and love for cricket The plot revolves around the struggle of Abhimanyu in achieving his love of life,Meera..His struggle to establish an organised management that could take major decisions regarding cricket in India and his struggle to provide his family's generation the power to rule the people of Ranakpur The language is easy and the novel is smooth flowing in first half of the novel. The later half demands much concentration and grasping ability to absorb the later half of the novel Apart from enjoying it and absorbing most part of the book, this book is quite informative with regard to the situation of India just after achieving independence.Although everyone may not love that trait but i thoroughly enjoyed grabbing these informative sentence inbetween the paragraphs..
The prince and The Nightingale is a love story set at the time of India's Independence and partition. Abhimanyu, the prince of Ranakpour comes to Bombay to follow his passion - cricket. Here, he meets Meera Apte, a commoner who was an amazing singer. Meera always wanted to pursue her singing to higher levels but her circumstances were against it. Abhimanyu supports her and ultimately they fell in love with each other. But their journey was never easy. They have a lot at stake.
What I liked about this book is it gives us glimpses of Indian Independence. How it had affected a lot of people. It was an utter blow for the princely states as they no longer had their own state or kingdom to rule on. The Indian government was about to form with the help of the voting system. There was an air of uncertainty everywhere. Also, the transition of the Indian Cricket team from a game of moneyed and privileged to the game of every common people and a true team was interesting.
As a book that focuses on love aspect I guess it didn't make a mark especially in the beginning of their story. They are shown as eternal lovers but the base was not strong. In order to show other things of the story, they are made into lovers quite fast I guess.
The book was neither fast-paced nor slow. It was a mixture of both. The language is simple and I guess everyone can give this a try. Though it is fiction, it says that the story is inspired by true events. Recommended!!!
'The Prince and the Nightangle' by Abhishek Bhatt is a gloroius piece that not only admires the beauty of love but also adorns the Indian history. The timeline of the story is around the time of Indian independence. When different kings and their dynasty were about to combine, king Uday Singh announced of collaborating as a part of India and left his children to follow their passion. While his sons followed passion, his daughter went to help her father in politics. The story revolves around his middle son, Abhimanyu who went Bombay with passion in the fist. He met his partner Meera Apte a melodious singer as her father. Author has penned the love story, the obstacles of that time, the essence of 90's love, the sacrifices followed by destiny. Being a debut author has stamped a different path of prince and the democratic Indian history is really praiseworthy. In the book of 26 chapters author has maintained the authentic ratio of quality over pages. Adding up to the feature it is crafted under an exclusive cover, I really liked the decent tittle. With a normal vocabulary and convincing narration, it leave no plot holes to the book. Overall, it is a good read that every Indian should read.
The story of Abhimanyu and Meera, was not just their story but a story of India's independence and it's growing as a democratic nation. A royal prince of Rajput and Bhils origin and a commoner (always scared of her devadasi origin) how their love blossomed, their dream of getting married was shattered by Abhimanyu's promise to his father, their relationship being blinded from general public and so on.
Their love lasted their life time and it was just shared and enjoyed only in their witness.
It was interesting to know how the Royals were not ready to give up their states to form into Indian union, in turn they went to strike a deal for contesting in the election, to preserve their status.
Their lives was going on but they were together, away from the eyes of every one..Even though Abhimanyu changed his mind to marry her at one point of time, Meera didn't accept it at all.
The story was narrated from a third person(but a very closed one for both of them)..
Overall it was a nice, warm and intricate love story at the backdrop of the issues and battles of India's growth and development . The second part of the story was with no/minimal conversation and it kind of rushed off to just summarise their later part of life.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The Prince and The Nightingale by Abhishek Bhatt is a story of Abhimanyu and Meera.
The historical backdrop is India's Independence. Abhimanyu is the son of Maharaja Uday Singh. When the king asks his children to find a place of their own in the world, Abhimanyu winds up in Mumbai chasing after his love for Cricket, and he bumps into Meera Apte, who is a commoner, with an amazing voice and dreams to enter Bollywood.
They bond over their love for music, and Abhimanyu being the second son, has duties to fulfill to his kingdom and his people. He must choose between his growing fondness for Meera and duties for his people.
A story of star-crossed lovers with cricket, music, films and India's history of Independence in the backgroup it's a really fun story to read and there's not one boring moment.
The royalty meets commoner and the regency romance trope makes it a warm, fuzzy and unputdownable. The writing is very immersive, and fluid and you can't not finish it one sitting. This is the author's debut book but he is known for writing web series and this book is finalised for a motion series which I am sure will be enjoyable.
Book Title : THE PRINCE AND THE NIGHTINGALE Genre : Fictional Romance Rating : 4.8/5 Book From : My Views : A classic romance which will make you travel the contemporary times during independence of India, old Bombay (now Mumbai) and The Royalty of Ranakpour.
The love blooming between an athlete and a songstress, is the major plot, wherein amalgamating the whole scenarios of diverse perspectives during those times. Story of two exclusively opposite worlds, falling in love without knowing what life had in her folded cards for them is one of the major twists. The novel also covers the areas of horrors of partition, politics, and sophistication during old times.
This is a fast paced novel that will hardly occupy a lot of twists, also having 4-5 shayaris in the depth of the plot, somewhere leads to a whole different connection with the book. Sharing my favourites here :- "वो दर्द ही क्या जो आंखों से बह जाए, वो खुशी ही क्या जो होठों पर रह जाए। कभी तो समझो मेरी खामोशी को, वो बात ही क्या जो आसानी से अल्फाज़ बन जाए।।"
Being a debut writer, Harsh Bhatt did a fabulous job with it, and apart from being adapted as a major motion movie, this book is endorsed by Hansal Mehta.
"He wanted to confess that he would not be able to marry her, because he had to give the Ranakpour family a chance to win a goddamn election."
Abhimanyu and Meera, parents of Abhimeer, a story of love, trust, bonding, and emotions. I do not want to write a lot about how the plot unfolds, but the feeling of love is what made me cry. The story is about how a man loves a woman, and how the so called status drops in between them. This is still prevalent in the society, though. With this story travelling back to the time of independence, when the democratic government was the ordeal of New India, the love between them bloomed.
The choices they made, and stood by them make this book a worth read, though it made me feel sad, I had expected a different kind of end. And I feel the story concluded too quickly. I need to read more about them. The narration is quite subtle and smooth, fast paced, if detailed background of what India was and its situation back then.
I think this book is a love story of its own kind, which can be felt deep down within the inner corner of heart. I liked it and would cherish it forever.
Read it for the sake of love, unconventional love.
When India got independant in 1947, all kings and nawabs lost royal position. King of Ranakpour, Maharaja Uday Singh, relealized this change in politics and encouraged his children to pursue their dreams or passion. This book focuses on his middle son Abhimanyu who moves to Mumbai (then Bombay) to pursue a career in cricket. He meets Meera, a struggling music artist with beautiful voice. Both fall in love but their love story comes with challenges.
I am a sucker for stories set around independence because they present a completely different India. Many changes happened all of a sudden which surely pushes an unrest in society. This book uses that premise to build a love story between a prince trying to adjust to the reality that he is no longer a prince and an artist still looking for big break. Two unstable individuals when fall in love definitely won't have a love story full of rosses. Remember what a rollercoaster Gaddar was!
I loved the narrative that brings forth the societal perspective of that time. Must read for fans of love stories especially set in history.

The book 'The Prince and The Nightingale' is a beautiful love story that has been set during the period when India got independence.
As the name suggests, it's the love story of Abhimanyu Singh, who is the Prince of Ranakpour and Meera Apte, a singer. Their love story begins when Abhimanyu lands in Bombay to follow his passion of Cricket and meets Meera Apte.
First of all, I must say that I really liked the title of this book. It's so beautiful and it gives the reader an idea about the plot of this book. The story is based on true events and the love story between Abhimanyu and Meera seemed so magical. The narration style was pretty interesting and it was really amazing to read about the events and scenarios that occurred during the period when India became a newly independent nation. Also, the author has wonderfully portrayed the mesmerizing worlds of Cricket and Music.
Overall it was a wonderful read. Also, this book is soon going to be a major motion picture. Can't wait to watch it.
The Prince and the Nightingale is a story from the time of Independence in India, i.e., 1947. It speaks of the influence of democracy and independence on monarchy, the royal families and their titles.
Abhimanyu, the last prince of Ranakpour, moved to Bombay to pursue his love of cricket. There he meets Meera, who has her own goals and values. Both have led quite different lives from one other, yet they still feel a connection between them. However, the relationship between a prince and a commoner was not acceptable back then, hence it was a secret.
It’s a well-written novel with a glorious mix of love, history, and politics. It warmed my heart to witness such lovely friendships, love, challenges, problems, emotions, and feelings expressed with such easily in this fast-paced narrative.
" THE PRINCE AND THE NIGHTINGALE " by Abhiahek Bhatt is a worth read book. Which reflects an ancient time of independence and a love story of a royal prince Abhimanyu and an angelic singer Meera.
The book begins with an introduction of Maharaja Uday Singh's royal family and palace. A prime character Abhimanyu singh is a middle son of Uday singh. He was fond of cricket and he wanted to become a cricketer. So, he went to Mumbai to fulfill his dreams.
During those time he met Meera apte a beautiful singer. They fell in love with each other. But as it is said, no any love story goes through an easy way. Abhimanyu and Meera both were passionate, they had to face too many problems to be with each other. All should read the book to know that whether their love story ends happily or not. I enjoyed reading this book.
This story starts from the evening of India's Independence day , Maharaja Uday Singh, the King of Ranakpour, desire his children to find their place in the new India as their 800-year rule on the princely state comes to an end. Empty of his imperial status, Uday Singh's middle son, Abhimanyu, lands in Bombay to go after his crucifixion- cricket. While the young prince tries to modify to life in the county town as usual , he meets Meera Apte, a struggling , working class singer with an heavenly voice, and they connect over their common interest: Indian classical music.Soon, Abhimanyu finds himself rip up between familial duties and his growing desire for Meera . Finally, the lovers make a choice that will change their future constantly . Overall nice book ... Loved to read it...
The Prince and the Nightingale by Abhishek Bhatt Not every tale holds a vibe to pull the reader within its orbit and keep the reader intact, right from the beginning, until the end starts to disclose itself bit by bit. This book talks about nostalgic period and the modern era where a kid grows up and finds his likes tending towards the modern culture and sports where the family always finds itself left behind though it's not true at times. I would talk about this book for a while as it took me more than just focus and attraction. I've thoroughly enjoyed this read and would always welcome such tales by the same author.
A love story which emerged in the time of Indian Independence. Prince Abhimanyu Singh, who wanted to make his name in the field of cricket bumps into Meera Apte, a commoner who has the voice of a Nightingale and wants to get into Bollywood. With their growing feelings for each other Abhimanyu finds himself in a position where he has to choose between his duties as a Prince and his love for Meera.
This isn't only the story of two starcrossed lovers. This is the story of India at the time of Independence where it was struggling with its new found freedom
The Prince and the Nightingale is a love story between a royal man with a common girl who is a singer. On the eve of India's independence, Maharaj Uday Singh's middle son Abhimanyu, leaving his royal life goes to Mumbai for his passion in cricket. And from here starts the story. It was a good story and that too based in the time of India's Independence.
I liked the book very much. I appreciate the author writing skills for he has explained everything clearly in his book. A lovely masterpiece.
This book is really amazing and I'm quite happy that it's becoming a movie. It's an authentic Indian story and plot line is quite intense and intriguing. Author has done a wonderful job in building the characters and weaving this story. Characterization is done well and writing is quite crisp. Title is apt , cover page is beautiful and narration is great. Overall a great read and highly recommended to all.
