It's summer, which means sunshine, sand and awkward tan lines.
What our heroes aren't expecting? Love.
Sometimes hot days turn into steamier nights as these men find love by the lake...

Deep, deep donuts...
Tamara
Setting up a donut truck near a busy part of the lake is probably the best idea I've ever had. Warm cinnamon. Gooey jelly centers. Sweet glazed… Whatever tickles your fancy, I have it in my van, cooked fresh to tantalize your taste buds.

What I don't have is a permit.

So evading the local law has become my number one priority. Pity, because Officer Lee looks mighty adorable in his cycling shorts while doing his rounds of the lakefront. Not sure a fit guy like that would go for a curvy girl like me, but I love watching those toned thighs pedaling like mad in my rearview mirror while he's trying to catch me. It's my favorite part of every getaway. But I can't let myself get too distracted, because if Officer Lee every catches me, I'll be in deep, deep donuts.

Wes
All I want is a donut!
Every single day, that fresh cooked, doughy, sweet scent keeps teasing me from afar. And every time I get close, the donut truck moves on. It's like I'm living in a little kid's nightmare where I'm forever rushing out with my money, but the snack truck leaves before I get to the window and I miss out.

And what's worse, the woman who runs the van is the sweetest, cutest girl I've ever seen. I want a bite of her as much as I want a bite of her donuts. If only I can ever manage to get close enough...

Ovaries Set to Flutter

4.5 stars - When I wasn't laughing, this easy read of a novella had my ovaries fluttering (don't tell my husband!). It is so sweet and cute that I also have cavities! I really, really liked Wes and Tamara's story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

2.9 stars.
This was a hallmark cute kind of book. Not exactly my favorite style.
It was cheesy and a little cringey.
I wasn’t a fan of how insecure the FMC is.
Or how fast everything happened with not much fire behind it.
It was good for what it was.
My low rating just reflects my preferences towards the less overtly cutesy novellas.

This is book number 1 of the Lovers Lake series and focuses on Wes and Tamara. Tamara is the owner of a donut truck but unfortunately doesn't have the proper permits for it yet so she is constantly trying to dodge Wes. Wes is a bicycle cop who just wants a donut that he's been craving for weeks. When he finally gets the opportunity to get one it definitely does not go as expected and it was downright hilarious! This was such a good story! I was hooked right off the bat and kept my attention the entire time. This was a great start to the Lovers Lake series!

Did I like this? Yes. Do I think it deserved a 3 star rating? Probably not. Did I confirm that I have different standards for different romance genres? 💯

This is a cute bit of fluff about a curvy virgin running a donut van and a bicycle cop. They fall for each other extremely quick. One could argue that the FMC fell hard because the MMC is the only man according to her who has found her attractive thus she falls hard and fast right along with him. The MMC comes on extremely strong relatively quickly. He goes from flirting with her in her truck to declaring she is his soulmate during there first date that leads to breeding kink sex and an actual proposal. Going to be honest and say in a CR this should be creepy as hell to me coupled with the fact that he tracked down where she lived without having an address.

Unfortunately for me I’ve read way too much alien smut, so by the time the red flags start blaring for a CR I’ve started to picture him as a muscular horned alien with a tail. Then everything made total sense to me. I clearly have problems. 🤪🤣 All in all not a bad read if you can suspend belief for few seconds, enjoy the fluff and not run off to alien lala land.

The couple: Wes and Tamara

Romance genre: insta-love
Series: Lovers Lake / Curves Just Wanna Have Fun
Length:88 pages

Plot: Tamara is doing pretty well with her donut food truck. The only problem is that she had a permit or an ice cream truck and then that broke down. When she got a new truck, it was already outfitted for donuts, and she didn't have the money for a new permit. So she's a hardened criminal at this point. Wes is a cop and all he wants is one of Tamara's fabled donuts. But every time he gets near her truck, she takes off! She thinks he's after her for breaking the law, but he's really after her for her...donuts.

Commentary: This was a super cute story. I loved how the friend would alert her (although I can't believe a food truck could escape that fast!). Wade was sweet, playing into the cop stereotype. I liked them together!

Grammar/formatting: There was one funny grammar mistake where "emphatically" was used instead of "emphatically" - I can see how that happened easily, but it did change the meaning of the sentence!

Next book in the series: Rocky Waters

This book was amazing!! Wes and Tamara are so stinking cute and their story was beautiful!! The storyline was writing fantastic and it had just the right amount of adorable, funny and steamy inside. I hands down recommend you read this it’s worth it and it’s more on the short size so you can read it fairly quick and on the go (which I say all the time that I love).

Their love is "cliche" but super sweet

Drawn together like a cop to a donut, this couple is super sweet. Wes chases Mara, literally, until he catches her, and she's not quite ready when he does. Cute, fun, sweet, and short. Enjoyable!

I loved this short story about Tamara who has a donut van she parks in the park where she does a lot of business but the only problem is that she doesn’t have a permit so when she see’s the sexy bicycle cop coming her way she packs up and leaves. Wes loves being a bicycle cop but he’s so frustrated because every time he rides towards the donut van the beautiful woman takes off and all he wants is a donut. I loved this fun, sweet and chuckle worthy story and the characters and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This is a truly adorable all fluff story. The characters are perfect and a perfect fit to one another as well. It is a fast read but a complete insta love story with no holes or rushed scenes. It progresses nicely so you get plenty of story and meet a few side characters

I loved it .... up to a point, then it took a nosedive. I am all for my fellow thick girls finding love. And it's even better when it's hot, muscly men they're finding love with.

I think it's hilarious that the author made a romance story out of a cop cliche stereotype of loving donuts. So much so that he chases down the donut van every day, only for the shop owner to know his whereabouts and close up shop every time he comes around. She's under the impression that if he finds out she doesn't have the right permits, he'll shut her down. Until he finally catches up to her on a day off and lets her know that not having the right permit isn't his department.

It's adorable that Wes goes to city hall to help her with her problems and is insta attracted to Mara. Love that his mom is on board instantly as well. Paired with the fact that he's instantly claiming her as "his" in his mind? Makes from a great read!

Getting down and dirty in the kitchen ... kind of gross. But this line ... "Let me see this precious, untouched valley of yours" ??? Mega barf. That's the weird line I've ever heard. It's their first date and they both make declarations of love after a chance donut encounter, him getting her a permit, and then taking her virginity? And on top of that, they CHOOSE not to use protection because they want an entire life together and to start trying to have babies this second? I can believe in lots of things, but that intense of a level of love and commitment after barely any time ... nah.

I liked it until I didn't. Not saying it's really all that bad and I enjoyed the amusing bits at the beginning. But .. I don't think I'll be continuing this series after this. Just not as into it as I thought I would be since it's a series of thick girls finding love.

Fabulous, absolutely love this one. A nice quick short read.

Wes is a cop and rides on a bicycle all day he's been craving a donut for weeks. On his day off Wes finally is able to get to the donut but Tamara quickly recognize Wes and tells him she's sold out, slamming the doors closed and taking off. He finds out where she is staying and takes it to her, then asks her to go out on a date with him. Tamara tells him it's her that should be taking him out. She asks him if he like Mexican food and he tells her yes, so they have a date Friday night. Wes shows up for their date with flowers and wine. When Tamara is putting the flowers in a vase she tells him all her friends call her Mara. Wes tell her he doesn't want to be friends. Wes gets her a glass of wine then tells her there is something he wants to do, he asks her if he can kiss her. When he pulls her close to him she can feel how he wants her. "...riding a sugar high from dusk to dawn - hashtag blessed."

Deep, Deep Donuts made me laugh from the first page and then captured my heart with the fun, quirky and endearing story. Tamara is twenty-five years old and is staying with her best friend Sasha at Lover's Lake for the summer at Sasha's parents summer house. Mara and Sasha became friends when they were both in college and ended up taking a women's studies course together. Mara ended up having to drop out after her mother unexpectedly died. But it was Sasha who has helped her through the grief. Mara ended up buying an ice cream truck but when it broke down and she had to buy another truck, only it turned out to be too expensive to convert into ice cream, she discovered she had a talent for making delicious donuts. So this summer she is parking her truck at the lake and has built a following with a line before she even rolls up the shutter. The only problem is Officer Leo, the sexy hot bike cop who rides around the lake each day. As Mara does not have the proper permits for donuts it is Sasha who keeps a look out for Officer Leo which leads Mara to close up quickly and get away before he catches her. Officer Wes Leo is twenty-six years old and grew up on Lover's Lake. His parents had a love filled marriage until he was killed one night while on duty, as he was also a cop. So his mother raised Wes and his younger sister while working her way up to become the City Manager. For the last month Wes has been patrolling around the lake and hearing about the delicious donut from the donut truck. He has been trying to get some but each time he in near the truck closes up and drives away, leaving people in line complaining that the donuts had sold out for the day. Wes has also been seeing the curvy woman in the truck, the donut lady, from afar and admiring her. So one his day off he finally gets in line and is about to order his long awaited taste of the delicious fried batter when all of a sudden she closes up again claiming she was sold out. But Wes is determined to finally get a taste and ends up getting kidnapped by Mara as she drives away with him hanging onto the back door of the truck. As it turns out Wes gets to taste not only Mara's tasty donuts but also her, and some homemade Mexican food, before the week is out.

You.Are.All.
This book is about Tamara and Wes. She owns and runs a donut van, and had organised to spend the summer her friend Sasha at her family’s lake house on the famous Lovers Lake. Due to some financial-related permit issues, Tamara is trying to avoid the local authorities and their health inspection. Officer Lee patrols the lake area on his bike, and is both a thorn in her side, and the tingle in her panties.
Tamara is under the impression that he’s after her for a health inspection and possibly violation. However, as she drives off yet again as he approaches her van, his self-talk declares his desire for some of her actual donuts! People are raving about them, and the smell has been teasing him for weeks! She apparently sells out just as he’s about to get to her van every day. He starts wondering whether she has something against him personally. But he finally gets to see her, after she’s inadvertently kidnaps him. What will happen next?
It’s a light-hearted, funny, sweet and steamy story with entertaining and very likeable characters. It says that ‘love at first bite of the donut really does exist’. Now I feel like one of those triple chocolate ganache filled donuts, eaten in that special way… I give this book four and a half hot-cop stars.

*Spoilers ahead*
Tamara and Wes are a cute couple. Both felt the pull to each other. But it all started with a donut van at the lake.
Tamara didn’t have a permit to sell donuts out of her donut van. She also didn’t have the money for one. So she was scared of getting caught.
Wes is a bicycle cop at the lake. All he wants is to try one of these notorious donuts everyone’s talking about. But the girl making them keeps closing up and running off.
So, he gets up early on his day off to try one. But in plain clothes. Tamara freaks out and tries to close up shop and run. But she drives off with Wes in the van. Ha. Loved this soo much. It’s just soo perfectly comical. Can honestly see it happening with this character too.
Both have liked each other from afar. But Tamara isn’t confident in the fact Wes likes her. As in more then a summer fling. She has a hard time believing this hot guy would actually love her and find all her curves sexy. Wes is patient and repeatedly tells her his true feelings. To the point he lays it all flat out for her. I love this.
Love how it wraps up. And the extra bonus epilogue.
Definitely recommend this book.

Characters:Tamara (Mara) and Wes

This was a quick novella that involves a plus size heroine who owns a donut truck, but everyday runs away from a bicycle cop who keeps chasing her donut 🍩 truck.

She assumes that he wants to check her permit, but all the poor guy wants is a damn donut 😂

The good:
I got through this pretty quickly
Also I thought the whole story of her owning a donut truck and him chasing her down everyday to get one of her donuts sounded funny

The bad:
1. Insta-love can annoy me in books and in this case it did
2. She was a virgin heroine (so so tired of reading that in books (unless it’s a historical romance)
3. What do you know another plus size heroine who is insecure about her body 🤦🏻‍♀️
4. The first time they have sex they don’t use condoms and she’s NOT on birth control. He even told her before they have sex that he wants to go bare with her because he loves her and wants to have babies with her 🙄 (seriously that part made me cringe)

I’m going to check out the authors full length novels to see if I like them more than this novella. Some authors can’t really pull off novella’s great so I’ll give her a 2nd chance and hope I like her other novels better than this

Tamara decided she'll cook the dinner but when We'd shows up he has more then dinner on his mind.
They are getting along very and Wes decides he loved her and wants to propose but doesn't have a ring so he goes to get a donut to seal the deal.

It's a super cute love story. She's running an un-permitted donut truck. He's a bicycle riding cop who just wants a donut. Every time she sees him she shuts up shop and runs away, scared that he's there to bust her for breaking the law. He chases her down. They fall so fast. As in the very first date he proposes. The story overall just needs something else. Some of the terms used are just cringey and how fast they moved also made me cringe. It overall just felt highly unrealistic. I genuinely did like the story itself but it was very fast paced and just felt like it needed... more?

Now onto the author. I have read more than one of the books in this series and she seems to have a thing about virgin FMC's. I can't help but wonder if she herself is inexperienced because the intimate scenes are somewhat lacking. Its all just unrealistic.

If you're looking for something cute and very spicy, this isn't it. If you're okay with 93% implied spice and like 7% actual scenes I do suggest reading. It's definitely not a panty dropping hot story like I typically enjoy but it was still very good.

This was a sweet Insta-love quick read.

Tamara is spending the summer at Lovers Lake with her friend Sasha at her family's lake house. Mara used to own an ice cream truck but is went kaput so she bought a donut truck and is selling donuts down by the lake everyday. She does not have a permit for the donut truck so she has been running whenever she sees Officer Lee.

Wes Lee is a bicycle cop at the lake. He really wants to try one of the donuts everyone is raving about but every time he gets to the truck she takes off saying she is out of donuts. On his day off he finally gets to the truck and jumps into the back as she tears out of her parking spot. After she stops the truck he explains he only wanted a donut. Afterwards he goes to the City Manager, his Mom, to get her a permit for the truck. She invites him over for dinner and they hook up. They proclaim their love and he proposes with a donut ring. Tamara used to run an ice cream truck until her van broke down. She had to buy a new van but the only van she could afford was a donut van. She discovered that she is great at making donuts and her donuts are very popular. The problem is she doesn't have a valid permit to sell hot food. She is hoping soon to earn enough money to get a new permit but until then she is very nervous about being caught. It doesn't help that the lake has a bicycle cop who seems intent on hunting her down. Every time she sees him or her friend and lookout sees him coming, she quickly shuts down and takes off. She does enjoy seeing Officer Lee furiously pumping to catch up. Then one morning he sneaks up on her when he is not on duty.

Officer Wes Lee has heard a lot about the wonderful donuts for sale at the donut van and he wants to try them himself. The problem is every time he gets near, the van closes and takes off. Wes is interested in more that the donuts though. He wants to get to get to know Tamar better too.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Lovers Lake series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Tamara a sweet donut maker, yummy smells always leaving her truck and always on the run from the law because she does not have a permit to sell. Wes sexy as all get out police officer who just wants a donut, try as he might daily, he seems to be missing the donut truck and the girl behind the wheel is just as delicious looking if only he can get close enough. When they finally meet the chemistry is instant and intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored will he finally get a bite of her donuts, will he help her with the correct permits, and will he finally catch her to explore happiness?

Deep, Deep, Donuts is a book that you will hurt your side laughing. Oh I loved the misunderstanding that lead to the almost daily donut chase. Officer Lee patrols the lake on his bike, he has heard nothing but amazing things about the donut truck, but every time he gets close she takes off. Tamara use to own a ice cream truck, until it broke down. Now, the only thing she she could afford to replace it was a truck fitted to make donuts..... why not. Oops wrong permit and not money to get the right one. Hence when Officer Lee comes around, she takes off.

I loved this story if made me smile and laugh so hard. Officer Lee, or Wes really just wanted a donut, but Tamara thought he was coming to fine her. This way she tried to avoid Wes was amazing, that is until he showed up in plain clothes.....Their story is a beautiful tale of twist and turns that heat of the page. Grab a drink and relax you will not want to miss this one.

Love it - hilarious and delicious! This is about Tamara and Wes! Tamara sells delicious donuts on a truck next to wherever she can find a spot by the beach that is away from the police officer that patrols there on a bike! Wes is the police officer and he does not understand why every time he is getting closer to buy a donut, she closes shop and hightails it out of there. He tries to give it a chase, but she always wins until her spy misses the fact that he is in civilian clothes, and when he asks for what he wants she starts closing up again and he jumps into the truck with her.... This is such an awesome story, love it to bits!! She has her story and so does he, but she cannot believe that he would even be interested in someone like her and all he can do to control himself around her is eat her donut!!!
